11| Vendor

Amora's eye's opened, greeted by the sight of Arrrgh, Blinky, Toby, and Jim around her.

"Um, hello?" Amora looked at her friends as they breathed a sigh of relief.

"Amora, I'm so glad you're okay," Jim said.

"Yeah, me too," Amora said, standing up in the process.

     "Amora, what happened?" Toby asked.

"Uh, I don't fully know myself. How, how long was I out?" Amora asked, rubbing the back of her throbbing head.

"Five minutes. Are you sure you're alright?" Blinky said.

"Not, not too bad. But anyways, what were we doing before I passed out?" Amora tried to remember her activity's before passing it but failed.

"We were about to show you three the Hero's Forge. I suggested to Jim that we go ahead and show him the Forge and wait for you to awake, but Master Jim here refused to leave you alone until he made sure you were alright," Blinky answered.

Amora turned to Jim and smiled at him. "Well, I'm fine now. Let's go see this Hero's Forge!" Amora smiled at Blinky, who smiled back at here.

"Ah, yes. As I was saying, this is the Hero's Forge! The place where all Trollhunters came to be." Blinky had already walked ahead, followed quickly by Arrrgh and Toby.

Amora was about to walk with them when Jim grabbed her by the arm and wheeled her around to face him.

"Amora, what happened back there? I know you know more then you're letting on."

Amora simply looked at Jim with an oblivious face. "I don't know what you're talking about Jim. I simply passed out, weirdly, for five minutes. Nothing more. Now, may you let go of my arm?"

Jim sighed and let go of her arm. "I'll find out." He started walking ahead of her, joining the rest.

"Are you sure about that?" Amora asked to herself. She walked forward, determined to keep her curse a secret, even to herself, if she had to.

Amora walked out into an arena like area, carved out of stone with steep drops on all sides. She leaned out over the edge and gasped in awe at the shear height of it.

"So, shall we begin your training?" Amora heard Blinky say. She looked up just in time to see huge blades erupt from the ground, narrowly missing her friends.

"What the-!" Amora stood there, debating inside her head about weather she should step in or not. Before she could decide on what to do, she heard a powerful voice behind her.

A large troll with curled horns carrying an orange-red staff came into the arena, the blades retreating back into the ground around him. Amora stepped up, cautious around the new troll.

Amora saw the troll bend down in front of Toby and say something. The troll took out Toby's phone and crushed it, accidentally, it looked like.

"Um, I think I'm the flesh-bag you're looking for?" Jim stepped up. Amora was now close enough to hear them.

"Amulet chose," Arrrgh said, pointing to Jim.

"Hmm. So Drawl tells me. Ridiculous. However, the amulet has been known to make ill-fated choices, as you know better then most." The troll turned to Blinky, then turned and started to slowly walk away.

"What does that mean?" Jim asked.

"Blinky trained Trollhunter before. Uncar the Unfortunate." Arrrgh looked up to a statue of a troll, seemingly trying to protect himself from something.

"Why so 'Unfortunate?'" Amora asked, coming up next to Jim.

"First night out, torn. Limb from limb." Arrrgh made a gesture to imitate ripping something from it's host.

Amora raised an eyebrow. "Well, I get why he's so unfortunate." The arm of the statue fell off, almost landing on Toby. Amora quickly turned towards the arm when it made the sound of impact, surprised.

"If the amulet chose true, the Soothscryer will reveal it." The troll that had previously walked away stood in front of an indention on the ground.

"Oh, and who's he?" Amora whispered to Jim.

"That's Vendor, the leader of these trolls," he whispered back. Amora nodded, satisfied with her answer.

Vendor made a gesture with his hand, pointing at the indention. Jim stepped forward and nervously stepped into it. A large, podium like thing rose from the ground, it's many red eyes glowing.

"Behold the Soothscryer! It will judge your true spirit. Insert your right hand, Trollhunter."

Jim nervously looked at the Soothscryer. "I-I'm gonna get it back, right?"

"That is part of the test." Vendor smiled maliciously. Jim sighed and called for Toby to help him get up. Toby hurried over and got onto his hands and knees, allowing Jim to step up onto his back. Jim hesitantly inserted his hand into the gaping mouth.

"Ah!" The mouth clamped down and he started shouting, trying to escape from it's grasp. Amora bit her lip. She didn't like seeing Jim like that, she didn't know why, though.

The Soothscryer released Jim from it's grasp and he fell onto Toby, who was already on the ground.

"I'm okay!" he said, holding his right hand. Vendor looked at the Soothscryer as the light flashed.

     "Inconclusive."

"Inconclusive? What does that mean? 'Cause I am not doing that again," Toby said.

"It means, flesh-bag, that there has never been a human Trollhunter before! The Soothscryer will need time to render it's judgments. Let us all hope you live long enough to see." Vendor started walking out of the Hero's Forge.

Amora hurried over to Jim and helped him up. "You alright?"

"Yeah. That was pretty scary, though," he replied, helping Toby up.

Amora chuckled. "Looked it." Blinky and Arrrgh approached them. The five of them started to walk back towards the entrance of the Hero's Forge.

Amora, Jim, and Toby were walking their bikes back to their houses, talking among themselves.

"Oh, what have I gotten myself into?" Jim said.

"Um, trolls, cool underground city, indigenous gem forms, Heartstone? You've gotten yourself into total awesome mania man!" Toby exclaimed.

     "If I survive."

"Come on! You're gonna get trained by the best! Blinky's-"

"His last guy got torn limb from limb! On his first night!" Toby remained silent.

"So there's no where to go but up." Amora and Jim scowled at him. Amora looked back up to see Jim's mom's car in Jim's driveway.

"Um, Jim, I think your mom's home," Amora said, nodding towards the car.

"Oh no. Alright, I'll deal with it. Night Tobes, Amora." Jim smiled at both of them and waved before heading off to his house.

"Bye, Jim!" Toby and Amora both waved and said goodbye to each other before going to their own houses. Amora unlocked the door to her house and closed it behind her. She dashed upstairs to her room and flopped onto her bed, her bag falling to the floor. She lay there, thinking about the warning that the previous assassin had given her. It's not like it was a lot to take in, but something seemed weird about it all.
