1| Artefact Of The Century

Amora sat against a tree and listened to her favourite song. She checked the time on her iPhone and realized it was time for lunch. She popped out her earphones and stuck them and her phone into her back pocket. She got up from her seat and walked over to her bike. On the back was a basket containing a water bottle and paper bag with her lunch in it.

Amora was a very pretty girl with wavy, brown hair reaching her waist. She had light skin and beautiful, blue eyes. She had full, pink lips, and a peaches and cream complexion. She wore very short, faded jean shorts and a black, tank-top crop-top and wore black high top shoes. She wore an overhead, small, black bag that fit her phone, necessity's, and a small, sheathed dagger for self-defence.

Amora was sitting back down and putting her earbuds back in when she received a call from her mum.

     "Hi, Mum. What's up?"

"Hi, sweetie! Do you have your lunch and water?" Amora smiled. Even though she could take care of herself, her mum always looked out for her.

"Yes, Mum. I'm just at the park that absolutely no one goes too. How's work?" Amora said, changing the subject.

"It's busy. The movie we're working on is a mess; the cameras are giving us a tough time. Here I am, the famous actress playing the part as Miss Dark, the role I've been wanting to play since the announcement of the movie, but I can't even play it currently," she replied, seeming very distressed as she elaborated her day to Amora.

"I'm so sorry Mum. Maybe I can drop by and help out with the cameras. I know more than a thing or two about tech."

"That'd be great, sweetie. But you go on and finish your lunch. Bye Amora!"

"By Mum! Hope everything gets fixed!" Amora hung up the phone and switched over to her music again. She opened up her paper bag and pulled out the small, wrapped bowls containing sauce and vegetables. She quickly ate her lunch and drank half her water. She got up while stuffing her phone in her pocket and walked over to the basket on the back of her bike. She put her bottle and bowls in the bag and prepared to mount her bike when she heard something.

"Amora... Amora, Amber..." A strange, faded, female voice spoke, but Amora was sure she was the only one in the park. "Amora, Amber..." The strange voice emitted again from a large fallen log with a small dent inside, but louder this time. Amora set down her bike helmet and put up the kickstand. She walked over the log that the voice seemed to be coming from. Amora saw a strange glow coming from inside the dent. She picked up the moss covering the dent and underneath it, was a small, glowing, black amulet. It was the size of a small clasp for a cloak or shawl. It had intricate designs etched into the sides of the bronze frame, almost like some form of writing. In the middle, it resembled a clock. It was filled with almost a jewel-like substance. Amora didn't know black could glow, but the jewel-like substance was dark and forbidding, Like how Amora imagined a black hole to be, just the way Amora liked it.

"What is this?" Amora asked no one in particular. She didn't know what to do with it, so she just made up her mind and stuffed it into the over-head black bag she wore at all times. She walked back over to her bike thinking, 'What is this thing? Can it do anything?

Amora pulled on her turquoise helmet and hopped on her turquoise coloured bike and peddled down the cobbled path. She biked up the road and down to the small movie studio her mum worked at. She got off her bike and headed inside, greeted by none other than her mum.

"Hi, honey! Glad you could come. We've gotten a lead on the cameras but we still need help," she said.

"Alright, I'll take a look," Amora said, looking around for the camera crew and, more importantly, the cameras. She spotted them over to the left and walked over. "Hey, guy's! What's the problem with the cameras?"

"We keep shooting the scenes, but every time we look back at the videos, they're not there," said one of the cameramen.

"OK, can I see the memory card?" she asked. The cameraman nodded and Amora picked up the heavy camera and tilted it until she saw the opening for the memory card. She pulled it out and examined it.

"Nothing seems to be wrong. Were the videos black all the way through, or was there not a video at all?"

     "Everything was black."

"Are you kidding me? Your lens wasn't open. It was probably just a simple malfunction. Happens more then you think. If it happens again, just manually open the lens," Amora said, replacing the camera back onto the tripod.

"Oh my god. Thank you for letting us know of this, dumb, malfunction," the cameraman said.

"No problem! Just, think things through a little more next time." Amora said goodbye to her mum and hopped back on her bike. She rode down the down paths and streets eventually reaching her house. She hopped off her bike, reaching into her bag for her garage keys, but nothing was there.

"Oh shoot! I must have dropped my keys in the park. Well, I've got time," Amora said. She put on her turquoise helmet once again and hopped back on her bike. She took off down the street, taking a shortcut down alleyways to get to the park faster. At last, after five minutes, Amora reached the entrance of the park and rode through.

"Key's, key's, where are my keys..." Amora rode up through the paths to the spot where she was sitting last when she saw two other boys' on their bikes coming towards her. One was riding a blue bike, much like hers, and one was riding a much to small green bike. The boy on the blue bike was slim and wore a blue hoodie and had black hair, while the boy on the green bike was much larger and had brown hair and green eyes.

The path was small, so Amora pulled off to the side to allow the boys to pass. To her surprise, the boys' slowed down and stopped in front of you, the one with the green bike a little behind.

"Hi! Are these yours?" the boy in blue asked Amora and held out a key chain, one that looked exactly like hers.

"Uh, yeah. Those are mine, thanks. How did you find them?" Amora asked, taking the keys from his grasp and stuffing them into her bag.

Just then the bigger boy pulled up beside you and said, "Hi! I'm Toby. Nice to meet you."

"Uh, hi. nice to meet you, too."

"As I was about to say was, me and my friend, Toby, were passing through, and I saw them on the ground near the path. I picked them up in case they were yours or anybody's from school."

"Oh yeah, I forgot we're neighbours. But thanks anyway. I guess we're going the same way, so I'll show you some shortcuts." Amora turned her bike around and hopped on, waiting for the boys' to do the same.

"No problem! And uh, lead away!" The boys' hopped back on their bike and pushed off. Amora pushed off and led the way through all the shortcuts. You noticed that the bigger boy seemed to have trouble keeping up. Eventually, the three of them reached their destination and said goodbye and goodnight, all going to their separate houses. Amora took her keys out of her bag and unlocked the garage. She wheeled in her bike and closed the door, walking over to the door leading to the hallway.

Amora headed upstairs to her room and got onto her computer. She took out the amulet and set the bag on her bed. She put the amulet on her desk and searched on the wiki, "Talking Amulet" and, "Glowing Amulet" After a few minutes of searching, she found nothing related to the amulet on her desk.

Amora leaned back in her chair and sighed. "Well, obviously this amulet seems to be something that no one has found. Something combining technology and old legends, magic, for example. An artefact of the century."
