Chapter 9: The Illumise and Volbeat Swarm. Two Dragons! The Legendary Temple!
Today the gang was walking through a forest. May was enjoying the walk through the forest; the forest had tall trees and hundreds of flowers.
Max was keeping an eye out for Pokémon like always and Brock was reading the guide.
"There's something interesting about this forest." Brock said.
"Really, what is it?" Winter asked.
"Well apparently some bug Pokémon called Volbeat and Illumise live in this forest," Brock said, "and at night people can see them dancing, while showing off their lights."
May thought that sounded interesting.
Tomo looked at Volbeat and Illumise on the PokéDex:
Volbeat, the Firefly Pokémon.
It lives around clean ponds. At night, its rear lights up. It converses with others by flashing its light.
Illumise, the Firefly Pokémon.
With its sweet aroma, it guides Volbeat to draw signs with light in the night sky.
"I remember that mum got an Illumise and Volbeat back at Professor Oak lab because they were injured and mum liked them after they were healed." Winter said.
Tomo smiled, "Yeah, they were always dancing at night when the moon was full view." He said.
"Volbeat are male and Illumise are female." Max said.
May asked if they could stay and see the Volbeat and Illumise dance tonight.
"Yeah, can we please?" Max asked hopefully, "I'd like to see them dance too."
Winter, Tomo and Brock thought the Illumise and Volbeat sounded interesting too and they agreed to stay.
The gang wasn't the only ones who were interested in the Volbeat and Illumise; Jessie, James and Meowth were also in the forest and had their eyes on Volbeat and Illumise.
"Do excuse me, but these Illumise and Volbeat look a bit crumby to me." Meowth said, who was looking at some pictures of Volbeat and Illumise.
"They do to me too," James said, "but remember Team Rocket wishes to control ever part of the Pokémon world."
"Yes and the boss always tell us that when you talk of conquering the whole world, every small and crumby thing counts." Jessie said.
"You're right." Meowth said.
James took was looking at three of his Pokéballs and grinned.
"What's got you all smiling about?" Meowth asked.
"My capture of my three new Pokémon Shroomish, Nuzleaf and Roselia," said James, "I'm always happy when I capture new Pokémon."
"I know what you mean," said Jessie, "I'm happy of my capture of Wingull."
Jessie and James captured Wingull, Shroomish, Nuzleaf and Roselia some time ago.
"I'm glad you two got new Pokémon," said Meowth, "but we need to get ready to grab the Volbeat and Illumise tonight."
So Jessie and James stopped looking at their PokéBalls and got ready for tonight.
Hours later it was starting to get dark and the gang was waiting for the Volbeat and Illumise to start their dance.
"I can't wait to see Volbeat and Illumise dancing." May said excitedly.
"It's sure to be a wonderful sight." Brock said.
The gang waited and waited, but there was no sign of any of the Illumise or Volbeat showing.
"That's strange," said Max, "Volbeat and Illumise should have shown up by now."
"Do you think something's wrong?" May asked.
"If something is wrong, then we better check it out just in case." Winter said.
The others agreed and they went in search for the missing Volbeat and Illumise.
What had happened was Jessie, James and Meowth had captured Volbeat and Illumise in a net.
There were twelve of them all together; six Volbeat and six Illumise.
"That was a pretty good capture." Meowth said.
"That was rather easy really." James said.
"Yeah, but we've got them with no trouble at all," Jessie said, "now it's time to make our get away with this Volbeat and Illumise."
"Oh no you don't Team Rocket!" A voice shouted.
The voice belonged to Winter.
"Why am I not surprised that you three are trying to nick these Volbeat and Illumise?" May asked.
"Oh great it's the twerps." Jessie groaned in annoyance. She sent out Seviper to battle and James sent out Cacnea to battle.
Winter ordered Pachirisu to use thunderbolt and Tomo ordered Growlithe to use flamethrower. Seviper got defeated from the thunderbolt and Cacnea got defeated by the flamethrower.
To finish it off Winter ordered Pichu to send Team Rocket off with electro ball and she did.
The gang released the Volbeat and Illumise at once and the Pokémon were grateful to the gang.
The bug Pokémon started their dance at once with their lights on.
"Beautiful." May said who loved watching this most of all.
"As always." Winter said remembering her mum's Pokémons.
The boys liked this as well. When the Volbeat and Illumise finished their dance, May and Winter caught a Volbeat and Illumise for themselves.
"Why did you two decide to catch both Volbeat and Illumise?" Max asked.
"Because I find both of them cute and the two of them will be great in Pokémon contests together, just like my Plusle and Minun will do." May said.
May was happy to have new Pokémon.
"What about you Sky?" He asked the white haired girl.
Winter smiled nervously, "Well my reason is that Volbeat and Illumise took my PokéBall's and tapped themselves with it." Pichu and Pachirisu laugh, "So basically they kind of planned it when we were watching the dance."
Brock and Tomo laugh, "Why am I not surprised it's just like Gastly, Hunter and Gengar." He said laughing louder.
Winter sulked remembering the mischievously three ghost Pokémon.
May and Max looked at each other wondering what they mean by that.
--------------------------•••----------------------------
Today the gang was passing through some mountain area.
May was feeling tired and hungry and as usual she was complaining about it.
Max found out on his PokéNav that there was a Pokémon Centre in the area, so May was happy to know that they could get something to eat there and relax.
When they got into the Pokémon they saw a lot of people, with worried looks on their faces.
"All of their Pokémon must be hurt or something." Brock said.
Winter got curious and asked a nearby trainer what was wrong. The trainer explained that two shiny Pokemon called Bagon and Trapinch challenged their Pokémon and defeated them.
Tomo looked at Bagon and Trapinch on his PokéDex:
Bagon, the Rock Head Pokémon.
Its steel-hard head can shatter boulders into pieces. It longingly hopes for wings to grow so it can fly.
Trapinch, the Ant Pit Pokémon.
Its nest is a sloped, bowl-like pit in the desert. Once something has fallen in, there is no escape.
"Let me warn you, those two Pokémon are real fighters," trainer 1 said, "they fight together in real sync and they know some strong moves."
"He's right about that," trainer 2 said, "I used my Graveler and Weepinbell against them but they were defeated by Bagon's hydro pump attack and Trapinch's gust attack."
"And that's not all they know," trainer 3 said, "the Bagon knows dragon claw, dragon pulse, flamethrower and its headbutt is no push over. As for the Trapinch it knows solar beam, hyper beam, dig and bug bite."
"Wow for a dragon and ground Pokémon, who aren't even fully evolved, they sound pretty strong." Max complement on their moves.
"They are," trainer 1 said, "and you guys better stay away from them otherwise your Pokémon will be beaten up too."
Winter, Pichu and Pachirisu was fascinated by these two Pokémon, "Sounds like they have quite a power punch. Right?" She whispered to her two electric who nodded.
Nurse Joy checked up on the gang's Pokémon. "I'm glad to see that your Pokémon haven't met up with that Bagon and Trapinch," she said, "all the pokemon who challenged them are really hurt right now and I don't think I can keep up with this. If those two Pokémon aren't stopped soon, I will have to call Officer Jenny."
Winter offered to catch them, "I'll go and fight them this time," she said, "my Treecko and Mudkip will be able to handle them no problem."
"Hold on Snow," May said, "all the trainers in this centre had all lost against that Bagon and Trapinch."
"I've fought against dragon and ground Pokémon before and Treecko and Mudkip know some moves that can defeat dragon and ground type Pokémon, this is the perfect chance." Winter said cheerfully, "And May did forget who I am? Plus like they move in perfect sync, they'll be perfect for double battles."
Winter went off to the area, where the Bagon and Trapinch were last seen, with Pichu, Pachirisu, Tomo and Growlithe.
May intended to stay at the Pokémon Centre and she made Max and Brock stay with her too.
"Where do you think that the Bagon and Trapinch are Luna?" Tomo asked. He sometimes call her by her real name when they are alone or with he gang, he is careful to make sure that no one is around.
"I don't know but I have a feeling that they will come to us for the battle." Winter said.
As soon as Winter said that, the Bagon and Trapinch appeared.
They were both shiny alright; Bagon's body was green instead of blue, and Trapinch was blue-green with green markings.
"Bagon, Trapinch, I challenge you two." Winter said.
Tomo, Pichu, Pachirisu and Growlithe stood out the way, while Winter released Mudkip and Treecko to fight Bagon and Trapinch.
"Treecko use energy ball on Trapinch and Mudkip you use ice beam on Bagon." Winter said.
Mudkip and Treecko fired their attacks at the two dragon Pokémon, but Trapinch used dig to escape the energy ball and Bagon melted the ice beam with flamethrower. Then Trapinch tackled Treecko hard and Bagon headbutted Mudkip hard.
"Wow this Bagon and Trapinch are strong." Tomo said.
Pichu, Pachirisu and Growlithe agreed.
Winter also agreed that the two Pokémon were strong, "Okay Treecko fire dragon breath at Bagon and Mudkip fire water gun at Trapinch." She said. Bagon got hit by the dragon breath and Trapinch got hit by the water gun, but they weren't beaten yet.
Bagon fired flamethrower at Treecko and Trapinch got ready to do solar beam.
"Quick Mudkip help Treecko with water gun and Treecko distract Trapinch with bullet seed." Mudkip doused the flamethrower with water gun and Treecko struck Trapinch with bullet seed. "Okay now Mudkip ice beam again and Treecko energy ball."
Before Bagon and Trapinch could do anything, they got struck by the ice beam and energy ball attacks.
Winter chucked PokéBalls at Bagon and Trapinch and caught them, and then the PokéBalls disappeared to Professor Oak's lab.
Winter went and hugged Treecko and Mudkip and told them that they did very well. Suddenly both Mudkip and Treecko started to glow and they grew into bigger versions of themselves.
Treecko grew into a bipedal Pokémon similar in appearance to a theropod dinosaur. It is primarily green with a red underside. There is a belt-like green stripe across its belly. His hands have two clawed fingers, and powerful legs with bird-like feet. He has three long leaves on its wrists, a large leaf on top of its head, and two tails that have a leafy appearance.
Mudkip grew into an amphibious bipedal Pokémon. Its body is primarily light-blue with a lighter shade of blue for its underside and an orange belly. His head has an angular black fin, orange eyes, and orange gills on the ends of both cheeks. He has long arms with three-fingered hands, his feet have three small toes, and it has two black fins for tails.
Marshtomp, the Mud Fish Pokémon.
The evolved form of Mudkip. It is at its best when on muddy ground with poor footing. It quickly overwhelms foes struggling in mud.
Grovyle, the Wood Gecko Pokémon.
The evolved form of Treecko. Grovyle is well known for its dexterity in the treetops, as it is often seen jumping from branch to branch. Even the fastest of Pokémon cannot catch a Grovyle in wooded areas.
Winter was happy with her Pokémon's evolutions and was happy to have caught the shiny Bagon and Trapinch for herself.
Winter and Tomo went back to the Pokémon Centre and told the others all about what had happened.
"Wow, so Mudkip and Treecko evolved huh Sky?" Brock said.
"Yep." Winter chirped.
"I wish I could have seen that." Max said.
"With your capture of Bagon and Trapinch there is sure to be no more problems around here now." Brock said.
"I must say I wonder why Bagon and Trapinch kept on battling trainer's Pokémon?" May asked.
"I can answer that," Winter said, "you see during the battle Bagon and Trapinch were saying stuff like, 'If we win this battle we will evolve at last' and 'we will fly at last'. So they must have wanted to battle lots of Pokémon so that they would evolve."
"I can see why," Brock said, "Bagon's final evolved form is Salamence and remember the Pokédex said that Bagon always wish they can fly. And Salamence can fly."
"Same with Trapinch." Max said, "Trapinch evolve into Vibrava, but Vibrava can't fly well but its final evolved form, Flygon can."
"It all makes sense now." May said.
"I'll help them evolve into Salamence and Flygon." Winter said, "Then I'll have two Salamence."
Winter and the gang explained to all the trainers about Bagon and Trapinch's desire to evolve and why they kept on battling their Pokémon.
The trainers understood the situation, but they were glad that it was all sorted out.
Now that the shiny Bagon and Trapinch had been caught, all the trainers could happily leave the Pokémon Centre with their fully recovered Pokémon.
And the gang left the Pokémon center too to continue their journey.
--------------------------•••---------------------------
Today the gang had come to a village to rest.
This village was one of those old fashioned Japanese village and it was peaceful.
In the village was a temple called the Legendary Temple.
It was called that because the villagers looked to the legendary Pokémon for protection and prosper of their village.
Winter was in deep of thought of something.
"Is something wrong Winter?" Brock asked.
"Actually Brock I've been thinking, more like worried." Winter replied.
"What about?" Tomo asked.
"Well I can't stop thinking about Team Magma and Team Aqua," Winter answered, "and I remember what Diane told us about Team Magma and their desire to obtain Groudon. And Team Aqua is to obtain Kyogre. Of course we knew it but there's more to this."
"So you were right after all." Brock said. Tomo, May and Max thought so too.
"If this is the case then what can we do?" May asked.
"I'll just have to ask Rayquaza to help us with this." Winter explained, "I think Rayquaza might be our only chance if Team Magma and Team Aqua succeed on obtaining Groudon and Kyogre."
"But Winter, locating Rayquaza will be impossible. How can we get Rayquaza to help us?" May asked.
Winter smiled, "Did you forget May that I do have it inside of me?" She pointed to her chest, "Plus Rayquaza did promise to help me out when I ask for it and its our only chance."
Tomo, Brock, May and Max understood and left Winter to contract with Rayquaza and Ho-Oh to help.
Winter went to Legendary Tower to contact with Ho-Oh and Rayquaza who is in the Earth's Atmosphere.
Ho-Oh squawked in response, it agreed to help when they meet Team Magma and Team Aqua.
Rayquaza roared agreeing also to help.
Winter smiled saying 'Thank you.' She also contacted Mewtwo to give him an update on the news.
Winter went back to the others that Ho-Oh and Rayquaza agreed to help along with Mewtwo when they face Team Magma and Team Aqua against Groudon and Kyogre.
"Let's hope that we can succeed." Brock said, "Since Team Aqua and Magma are looking for Groudon and Kyogre, I fear what will happen to the Hoenn region or the whole world."
The gang already understood that Team Aqua and Magma were bad news, but there was nothing they could do about them yet.
All they could do now is to wait till that day come.

1. James should have had a Roselia in the Pokémon anime, because he always held a rose in his hand when doing the motto.
2. My friend taught her Bagon the egg move hydro pump in the games and she suggested to have it. It suited Bagon better than the other egg moves it could learn.
3. I know Treecko evolved later than this in the anime, but I decided to have Mudkip and Treecko evolve together.
4. I don't understand you know why they never mentioned what the gang learnt about Team Magma from the 6th movie (Even though I haven't started the story yet); I mean Diane told them of their desire and yet after that the gang was clueless about it during the episodes.
5. Rayquaza and Ho-Oh will take part in the confrontation between Groudon and Kyogre. All out legendary battle folks.
