Chapter 7: Team Aqua and Team Magma! Phoebe the Elite Four! Dewford Gym!
Winter, Tomo and Brock were enjoying their new journey in the Hoenn region, and so was May and Max even though this was their first journey.
They had been to new places, seen and caught Hoenn Pokémon and met different people.
The one thing that was bothering Winter was Team Aqua and Team Magma, who the Officer Jenny in Rustboro City told them about, she could tell that these teams were bad news, except she hadn't met Team Magma yet and she still wondered what they were really like; were they like Team Rocket or not?
Right now Winter and the gang were training along a beach on another part of Dewford Island.
They were jogging along the beach, with Brock being in charge.
Brock, Winter, Tomo and Max were doing well, but May... not being a fan of sports, she wasn't enjoying herself.
Suddenly Brock told everyone to stop, he saw a man climbing up the edge of a cliff.
The man was Professor Birch and he was looking at a Wingull's nest.
Unfortunately for him, the Wingull was not happy with him peering in her nest and she pecked at him until he fell of the cliff.
Luckily for Professor Birch he landed in some trees which managed to break his fall, so he didn't end up very hurt.
The gang was surprised to see Professor Birch and asked him what he was doing.
"I was studying a Wingull's nest," Professor Birch explained, "Wingull build nests on edge of cliffs."
"Ah, I understand," Winter said, "it's your way of studying Pokémon and their habitats right?"
"That's correct," Professor Birch said, "the best way to study Pokémon is to be up close where the action is instead of seeing them from a distance, that's my opinion."
"It's Professor Oak's opinion as well." Tomo said.
"So tell me what brings you all here?" Professor Birch asked.
Winter explained that they were doing some training for the Dewford Gym.
"I see," Professor Birch said, "and how as your journey been so far?"
"It has been fantastic." Max said and he started to talk about what he and the others had gone through so far.
Meanwhile in a cave, Jessie, James and Meowth were hanging around in a secret base.
A secret base was a special area that people could create in caves, special shrubs and special trees.
Jessie's Granbull knew secret power and secret power had the ability to create secret bases.
"Ah it's so good to have a place where we can relax," Jessie said who was resting on a sun bed, "and we won't need to worry about anything here."
"Except the fact there aren't any good Pokémon here for us to send to the boss." Meowth said.
"Oh don't put your tail in a twist Meowth," Jessie said, "there are still plenty of places here in the Hoenn region to look for rare pokemon. So just relax." Meowth didn't think that he could relax.
"Jessie's right," James said who was on a computer, "there are still places that we haven't been yet, so our time in Hoenn isn't over yet." Meowth just sighed.
Jessie and James thought that there was nothing to worry about at the moment, but they were wrong.
------•••------
Outside the cave a helicopter was coming in to land, and there was a submarine that just rose out from the sea.
The Helicopter had a bid red and black mark that looked like a big capital 'M', this helicopter belonged to Team Magma.
The submarine had a big white mark that looked like a skull and cross bones, but with a spike on top, this submarine belonged to Team Aqua.
-----••----
Back with the gang, the gang had just finished telling Professor Birch about what they had gone through on their journey so far, and they told him about the new Pokémon they had captured.
"Wow you kids seem to have got into quite a few adventures," Professor Birch said, "and I hope you are in the mood for an adventure today." He explained that he was going to visit a cave that was just up ahead and asked the gang if they would like to join him.
"Let's do it," Max said, at once, "it won't be every day that we'll get to explore somewhere with Prof Birch."
The others agreed too and Professor Birch led the way to the cave.
What he didn't know was that the cave was where Jessie, James and Meowth had built their secret base.
-----•••-----
Back in the secret base, Jessie and James were enjoying themselves. But then they heard the sound of drilling coming from outside their base.
"Hey what's that noise?" Jessie asked.
Before her question could be answered, a group of men in red and black clothes barged into the secret base; they were members of Team Magma.
"Hey what's the big idea!?" Jessie shouted.
"Yeah this is our place, so get out!" James shouted.
They released all of their Pokémon: Arbok, Cloyster, Wobbuffet, Granbull, Sneasel, Seviper, Wurmple, Loudred, Weezing, Vileplume, Victreebel, Jumpluff, Chinchou, Teddiursa and Cacnea to battle. Meowth joined in to.
The Team Magma grunts called out a lot of Mightyena, Golbat and Houndoom from their PokéBalls. Meowth and the other Pokémon put up a good fight against the Mightyena, Golbat and Houndoom.
The Team Magma grunts had enough and recalled their Pokémon and then they left the secret base.
"Hey we won!" Meowth cheered.
"Yeah, but now our secret base isn't secret anymore," Jessie said, "we'll have to have a new secret base somewhere else."
"Yes and I've got the feeling that those Team Magma grunts are still here in the cave," James said, "we should follow them and see what they're up to."
Jessie and Meowth agreed to James' idea.
-----•••-----
Meanwhile Professor Birch and the gang were inside the cave and Professor Birch kept an eye out for any Pokémon.
"What Pokémon do you usually see in this cave?" Max asked.
Before Professor Birch could answer, Growlithe, Pichu and Pachirisu saw a grey and white insect, with pale green wings, and it wasn't looking very happy.
"That's a Nincada." Professor Birch said.
Tomo looked at Nincada on the PokéDex:
Nincada, the Trainee Pokémon.
It grows underground, sensing its surroundings using antennae instead of its virtually blind eyes.
"This Nincada doesn't look happy to me." Winter said. She asked it what was wrong, and the Nincada spoke to Winter, "Nincada says that some people are drilling in this cave."
"If there are people drilling then something must be up," Professor Birch said, "we should check this out."
Winter asked Nincada if it could show them the way to where people were drilling, in the cave and Nincada agreed.
Right now the Team Magma grunts were looking around some sort of ancient ruins.
A man, who was also a Team Magma member, was giving orders to the grunts.
Jessie, James and Meowth saw them, while hiding behind some rocks.
"Who in the world are they?" Jessie whispered.
"I reckon these people are Team Magma." James replied and he explained to Jessie and Meowth that he heard some policemen talking the other day about Team Magma and about Team Aqua.
"Gosh," Meowth said, "but then if they are Team Magma, then where is Team Aqua?"
As soon as Meowth said that a woman and some men, wearing scuba diva gear, jumped out of the water.
They were wearing blue, white and black clothes and they looked like pirates, they were members of Team Aqua.
"Does that answer your question now Meowth?" Jessie asked.
At that moment Professor Birch and the gang arrived and they saw Team Aqua and Team Magma too. "So they're Team Aqua and Team Magma." Winter said.
"I've heard of them," Professor Birch said, "they cause trouble, with their Pokémon, where ever they go." Winter didn't like the look of them one bit.
The man from Team Magma and the woman from Team Aqua began to speak with each other.
"Well, well, so what brings you here Shelly?" The man asked.
"I shall ask you the same thing Tabitha." The woman said.
"Team Magma is here to explore these ruins and we got here first so please leave." Tabitha said.
"The ones who will be leaving will be you and your team," Shelly said, "and Team Aqua will explore these ruins."
Professor Birch and the gang listened to what Shelly and Tabitha were saying.
"It's obvious that Team Aqua and Magma know each other," Winter said, "but they are not on terms with each other. I sense hatred and a real rivalry between them."
Professor Birch and the others didn't like the sound of that.
Shelly and Tabitha continued to talk.
"I'm afraid you won't find the power that you seek here, unless you have found the Blue Orb." Tabitha said.
"So does that mean you have the Red Orb?" Shelly asked, "Ha! The power of the sea will prevail over the power of the land."
Tomo and Brock gasped a bit at the Red Orb and Blue Orb words they remember something that Winter told them along with Misty.
Winter frowned at them not liking where this is headed.
"You should never underestimate the power of the land Shelly." Tabitha said.
Just then a grunt of Team Magma told Tabitha that the ruins were just plain ruins that people worshipped in a long time ago.
"So this place isn't the Cave of Origin." Tabitha said and he told his men to retreat.
Shelly told her men to retreat too, Team Aqua was also looking for the Cave of Origin.
Then Team Aqua left by jumping back into the sea and Team Magma left on their drill.
Professor Birch and the gang were puzzled with what Tabitha and Shelly had been talking about expect for Tomo, Brock and Winter.
"What are the Blue and Red Orbs and what's the Cave of Origin?" May asked.
"I don't know about the Red and Blue Orbs," Professor Birch said, "but the Cave of Origin is a hidden cave that is said to be located here in Hoenn. But even I don't know where that is."
"I know what the Red and Blue orb they speak about." Winter said.
"What is it?" Professor Birch asked.
"It's simpler orb, to what is inside of me." Winter answered, "But it's different the Blue and Red orb controls Groudon and Kyogre."
Professor Birch gasped, "Not good," he said, "they are after the Legendary Pokémon of Hoenn."
Winter nodded.
"If Team Aqua and Team Magma are that keen on finding that cave, then it can't be good." Brock said. "And if they find the orbs then where in trouble."
Professor Birch agreed.
It was not time to get out of the cave.
Tomo captured the Nincada from earlier because he thought it was a cool Pokémon.
"That was certainly an adventure today," Professor Birch said, "even though we ended up seeing Team Aqua and Magma."
"We better watch ourselves though," Winter said, "I have a feeling we will be ending up meeting with Team Aqua and Team Magma again."
"If you kids do, tell Officer Jenny at once." Professor Birch, "And Winter you have to be careful out of everyone else since you have it. Who knows when they will seek for it."
The gang promised that.
Meanwhile Jessie and James and Meowth were also talking about Team Aqua and Team Magma.
"From how that man and woman were talking about the powers of land and sea, I'd say that they were really power hungry." Meowth said.
"Yes and since those two were the commanders, I'd hate to think what their bosses are like." James said.
"Boys for Team Rocket's sake, we stay well away from Team Aqua and Magma, agreed?" Jessie said.
"Agreed." James and Meowth said together.
So the gang had encountered Team Aqua and Team Magma at last.
Question is what did Team Aqua and Magma plan to do, once they obtain the Red and Blue orb.
---------------------------•••------------------------
The gang had some more little adventures with Professor Birch, they had walked into a forest that had wild Seedot.
Seedot were grass Pokémon and they looked like acorns and Winter caught one for herself.
Also while travelling in the forest, May's Silcoon evolved into Beautifly and Winter Silcoon and Cascoon's evolved into Beautifly and Dustox's, which made Winter and May happy.
They had also run into a wild Loudred that wasn't well and Brock used his knowledge of medicine to help Loudred.
Loudred was grateful to Brock and wanted to go with him, so Brock had a Loudred for his own.
Right now Professor Birch and the gang were going to visit an old abandoned coal mine.
"Is it okay for people to visit the mine?" May asked.
"Yes there's no need to worry May," Professor Birch answered, "lots of people have explored in there before and there has never been any accidents."
May still felt nervous, but Max reassured May that Professor Birch would never take them to a place that was dangerous.
When they reached the mine, they saw a crowd of people and some police were stopping people from getting in.
"What's going on?" Winter asked.
"I don't know, but I'm going to find out." Professor Birch said.
Professor Birch asked a policeman what was wrong and the policeman explained that there have been reports of ghost Pokémon roaming about in the mine and they kept scaring people away from the mine.
"Then that means the ghost Pokémon have made this mine their territory." Professor Birch said.
"Then it's a good thing that I came here then." A voice said.
The voice belonged to a black haired woman, who wore pink flowers and a red bracelet round her feet.
"It's Phoebe of the elite four!" Someone shouted.
Everyone was surprised to see Phoebe, especially Professor Birch.
"What brings you here Phoebe?" Professor Birch asked.
"I heard the rumors of ghost Pokémon lurking about in this mine, so I came here to investigate." Phoebe said.
Phoebe specialized in ghost type Pokémon.
The gang was surprised to see an elite four member of Hoenn, especially Max and May.
Winter chuckled, "It's been a while since we've seen an elite four member right Tomo and Brock?" She said.
"It certainly has." Brock and Tomo said.
"Wait you three have met elite four members before?" Max asked in shock.
Brock explained about the time when he, Winter, Tomo and Misty met Lance in Johto, did they forget already that they explained to the siblings before with Steven.
Tomo explained about the time when he, Winter, Misty and Tracey met Lorelei in the Orange Islands.
Winter explained about the time when they met Bruno, when she trained her Pokémon in the mountains before the Indigo League.
Max felt jealous of them.
But what they didn't know was that Winter had battled against Lolorei and Bruno on a one and one Pokémon battle, since they requested it and beat them.
Professor Birch introduced Phoebe to the gang.
"You kids like ghost type Pokémon?" Phoebe asked.
"Yes." Winter said and she told her about her Gastly, Haunter, two Gengar and Misdreavus.
Phoebe looked at her Pichu in thought that she has seen it somewhere before.
Winter and Pichu felt nervous because of the stare she was giving.
Brock, Tomo and Max said yes too.
May nervously said yes because she was easily scared by them.
Phoebe invited them and Professor Birch to join her of exploring the mine and Professor Birch and Winter, Tomo, Brock and Max accepted the invitation.
May decided to stay behind as she wasn't fond of ghost type Pokémon.
So Phoebe, Professor Birch, Winter, Tomo, Brock and Max went into the mine together.
It was dark in the mine, so everyone had to wear helmet's that had lamps on them.
"Do you think that the ghost Pokémon are living here because this mine is abandoned and no one works in it anymore?" Winter asked.
"It's a good possibility," Professor Birch answered, "ghost Pokémon are famous for living in old caves, mines, ruins and buildings that have been abandoned. But it is best that we find what's going on in this cave, especially the since the Pokémon are frightening people away."
"Ghost pokemon don't really mind intruders much," Phoebe said, "but sometimes people disturb ghost Pokémon too much. So these ghost Pokémon probably don't want the tourists to disturb them, which would explain why they frighten them off. You lot better have PokéBalls ready, in case we do run into any trouble with the ghost Pokémon."
"Gotcha." Pichu." "Chipa." Winter, Pichu and Pachirisu said.
Phoebe smiled at her noticing the strong bond between them.
"Got it." Professor Birch and the boys together.
Suddenly they saw three ghost Pokémon, but they looked hurt.
One is a bipedal Pokémon with a dark purple body. It has pale blue, gemstone-like eyes, which allow it to see in low light and sparkle in the dark. It also has a red gemstone on its chest, and its back has a blue and green gemstone as well as another red one. These gem-like eyes and adornments on its body are caused by its diet, which consists of rocks and raw gemstones. It also has sharp teeth and claws.
Second is a Shuppet.
The third is a stylized personification of the Grim Reaper. Its body is a black robe with two bones on its back. It has a mask that resembles a skull and has single eye that floats between the eye sockets.
"That's a Sableye, Shuppet and Duskull." Phoebe said.
Winter, Max and Tomo ran over to see if the three Pokémon were okay.
"Hey what happened to you three?" Winter asked.
The Sableye spoke to Winter.
"What did it say Sky?" Max asked.
Winter frown not liking it what Sableye said, "Sableye said that there are miners down here and they are using all the ghost Pokémon as their slaves." She said angry by the slave word.
"What?! Using ghost Pokémon as slaves?!" Phoebe said angrily, "That's outrageous! We should sort this out at once."
Everyone agreed.
Winter asked Sableye, Duskull and Shuppet to take them to where the miners were and the three ghost Pokémon did just that.
Sableye, Duskull and Shuppet led the humans further down the mine until at last they came to an area of the mine, where the miners were.
There were lanterns, pickaxes and wagons everywhere and ghost Pokémon were coming in and out of the mines walls.
There were six men and they had some dark Pokémon with them, three Houndoom, an Umbreon, a Sneasel and a Mightyena.
Max noticed that there were gold nuggets in the wagons.
"I get it," Professor Birch said, "those miners must have found the gold nuggets in the mine and they're using the ghost Pokémon to find them and to scare everyone else away to keep their gold mine a secret. And I bet those dark Pokémon are to keep the ghost Pokémon in order since dark beats ghost."
"Yeah well I'm not letting them get away with it." Phoebe said crossly, she told Max and Tomo to go and get the police and asked Professor Birch, Winter and Brock to help her with the miners.
Max and Tomo ran back, with Shuppet, Sableye and Duskull, to the entrance of the mine.
Phoebe, Professor Birch, Winter and Brock ran towards the miners.
"That's enough!" Phoebe shouted, "I will not allow you to enslave these ghost Pokémon anymore."
"Neither will I!" Professor Birch shouted.
The miners were not happy that there were intruders and they sent their Pokémon to attack.
"Houndoom use flamethrower!" One of the miners shouted.
"Sneasel use Blizzard!" Shouted another.
"Use crunch Mightyena!" The second shouted.
"Use dark pulse Umbreon!" Another shouted.
Phoebe called out a Sableye and told it to attack with shadow ball, Brock sent out Forretress and told it to use signal beam, and Winter commanded Pichu and Pachirisu to attack with thundershock. Mightyena, Umbreon, the three Houndoom and the Sneasel were defeated in no time.
At that moment the police arrived on the scene and arrested the miners.
"What's going to happen to the mine now that gold nuggets have been located here?" Max asked.
"Well, we'll have proper miners come here and work here," a policeman answered, "and we'll be using the gold nuggets for all sorts of things for the Hoenn region."
Everyone was happy to know that the mine would be all right now.
When Phoebe, Professor Birch, Winter, Brock, Tomo and Max exited the mine, they told May all about it.
"You missed an exciting adventure May." Max teased.
"I prefer getting into adventures that don't involve dark, spooky places." May said.
"Haha," Winter laugh, "your just like Mist, she hate to get involves in places that has bug Pokémon or anything related to bug."
Tomo and Brock laugh too agreeing.
Phoebe thanked Professor Birch and the gang for their help.
"We are glad to have helped," Professor Birch said, "and it was an honor meeting an elite four member."
Just then the Sableye, Duskull and Shuppet turned up.
"Hey what are you three doing here?" Winter asked.
The three ghost Pokémon spoke.
"I think they want to go with you three," Phoebe answered, "I understand a ghost Pokémon's feelings well, and I can tell that they like you three, Winter, Tomo and Max."
They stared at each other and smiled, they agreed to have the ghost Pokémon on their team.
Winter captured Sableye, Tomo captured Duskull and Max captured Shuppet.
After that the gang said good bye to both Professor Birch and Phoebe.
Professor Birch had to leave to get back to his lab in Littleroot Town, and Phoebe had to leave for business.
After saying good bye to them, Winter and the gang set off for Dewford Gym.
Winter decided that it was now the time for her to challenge the Dewford Gym.
----------------------------•••--------------------------
Today the gang had now made it to Dewford Gym.
Dewford Gym looked like a big house.
"Are your Taillow and Ralts ready for this?" May asked.
"Yes they are thanks to some training and practicing." Winter said.
Taillow and Ralts weren't ready for the gym yet, when the gang first got to Dewford Island, but now they were.
Winter was about to knock on the gym's door, but then a man with light blue hair and holding a surf board turned up.
"Hello there," the man said, "here for a gym battle?"
"Yes we are," Winter answered, "are you the gym leader?"
"That's correct, my name is Brawly." The man said.
"Nice to meet you Brawly my name is Winter and I wish to challenge you," Winter said, "but what's the surf board for?"
Brawly explained that he loved surfing and surfing was his way of training himself and his Pokémon, especially when his Pokémon are dodging attacks.
"That way of training reminds me of when I challenged the Cianwood Gym leader Chuck," Winter said, "especially when he trained by having a fight with his own fighting Pokémon."
"Wait you know and challenged Chuck?" Brawly asked.
"Yes and I won a badge." Winter said.
Brawly explained that he used to be a student of Chuck's and that it was Chuck that inspired him to be a gym leader of fighting type Pokémon.
"Well I certainly can't wait to battle you Brawly." Winter said.
"Well then Winter, let's do it." Brawly smiled.
Winter and Brawly took their places in the gym's battle stand and Brock, Tomo, May and Max sat down on a bench to watch the match.
The gym referee explained that this was a two on two pokemon battle.
Brawly sent out a Machop to battle first and Winter sent out Taillow to battle first.
"Taillow would have the advantage of Machop because flying beats fighting Pokémon." Max said.
"Yes but let's see how Brawly battles." Brock said.
The match now began. Winter ordered Taillow to attack Machop with wing attack, and Brawly ordered Machop to counter attack with karate chop.
"Peck it Taillow." Winter said. While Machop was distracted by Taillow's wings, Taillow managed to peck at Machop.
"All right then Machop use cross chop." Brawly said. Machop's arms glowed white and it formed a cross with the arms.
"Quick use double team." Winter said. Taillow managed to multiply herself before Machop could strike her with cross chop.
"You sure know how to put up a good fight dude." Brawly said.
"I've fought fighting types before and I know perfectly well that fighting types are no push overs." Winter said.
"Is that true?" May asked Brock.
"It is," Brock said, "fighting types can also show no mercy when they are in a serious battle."
"Gosh, I hope Snow's Taillow and Ralts can handle it." May said.
"Okay Taillow lets use aerial ace." Winter said. Taillow charged into Machop with aerial ace and Machop was hurt by that.
"That Taillow of yours is good," Brawly said to Winter, "okay Machop use karate chop again."
"Air slash Taillow." Winter said. Taillow attacked Machop with an air slash attack just before Machop could karate chop her and then Machop fainted. The first match went to Winter.
"Taillow did it!" Max cheered.
"The training that Winter did with Taillow paid off," May said, "and he has one more Pokémon to beat."
"Yeah but we don't what the next pokemon is and nor do we know what it's like." Brock said.
Brawly returned Machop and sent out his last Pokémon.
This Pokémon was a yellow bipedal Pokémon that is known for its bulkiness. It has a black chest and round hands that resemble black gloves. It has red circles on its cheeks and slit-like eyes. Its head has a knot, making it resemble a punching bag. Its feet each have two visible toes.
Makuhita, the Guts Pokémon.
It toughens up by slamming into thick trees over and over. It gains a sturdy body and dauntless spirit.
Winter chuckled and returned her Taillow, "Well got any surprises for me." She said.
"Huh?" Brawly said confused what she meant including her friends, her question was answered.
At that moment Makuhita began to glow and then it grew into a bigger version of itself.
It was now a large, hulking, and mostly gray bipedal Pokémon that is modeled after sumo wrestlers. It has very large orange hands with three fingers. On its head, it has a pointed triangular crest and V-shaped marking of dark blue that runs across the tops of its eyes. This marking becomes a long blue ponytail in the back. On the sides of its head are round, stubby ears with visible holes in them. It has an orange, semicircular pattern on its abdomen. It has yellow skirt-like extensions on its waist and large, thick, dark blue legs with orange, two-toed feet. Its body is mostly muscle instead of fat.
"Hariyama!" It said.
"Makuhita evolved into a Hariyama! Max exclaimed.
"Wao." Winter said.
Tomo looked at Hariyama on his PokéDex:
Hariyama, the Arm Thrust Pokémon.
The evolved form of Makuhita. It loves to match power with big-bodied Pokémon. It can knock a truck flying with its arm thrusts.
"How did you know?" Brawly asked.
Winter shrugged, "Intuition."
"I think Snow should use a different Pokémon," May said, "I don't think Ralts can handle this, even if it is a psychic type."
"Yeah but this is Winter, she probably won't change her mind." Brock said.
Brock was right, Winter did call out Ralts to battle next. "You ready to battle Ralts?" Winter asked.
Ralts, being an emotional type Pokémon, could feel that Winter was all charged up in this battle so he was too.
The match began. Brawly ordered Hariyama to use arm thrust but Winter ordered Ralts to use teleport to dodge the attack, and Hariyama missed Ralts. Ralts kept on using teleport over and over again to confuse Hariyama.
"I've had Ralts practice teleport lots of times to perfect it." Winter said.
Brawly thought that this was indeed a clever move.
"Okay Ralts let's use magical leaf." Winter said. Ralts released multiple glowing green leaves from her arms and the leaves hit Hariyama.
"Hariyama use knock off." Brawlys said. Hariyama slapped Ralts hard with one of its hands. This was bad, knock off was a dark move.
"Don't give up Ralts." Winter called out. Ralts wasn't beaten yet.
Suddenly Ralts began to glow and then he grew into a bigger version of himself with a white sort of tutu, green hair with two red horns like hair pins and long green legs.
"Kirlia." He said.
Kirlia, the Emotion Pokémon.
The evolved form of Ralts. It is highly perceptive of its Trainer's feelings. It dances when it is feeling happy.
"Okay Kirlia let's use confuse ray." Winter said. Kirlia's eyes glowed purple and then Hariyama became confused and started hitting the ground.
"Why is Hariyama hitting the floor?" May asked.
"Confuse ray makes a Pokémon confused," Brock said, "and since Hariyama is confused it doesn't realize that it's just hitting the floor."
"Okay now's our chance Kirlia use psychic." Winter said. Kirlia's eyes glowed blue and then she released a light blue energy wave from her arms at Hariyama. Hariyama got a direct hit and fainted. So Ash was the winner of the gym match.
Winter was happy and she hugged Kirlia at once, which of course made Kirlia happy at once.
Brawly returned Hariyama and walked up to Winter, "I have to say dude, you are one strong Pokémon trainer," he said, "and so I will give you the Knuckle Badge."
The Knuckle Badge looked like a boxing glove and was blue with an orange spot.
Winter accepted the badge and thanked Brawly.
Now that Winter had the Dewford Gym badge, it was now time for the gang to leave Dewford Island.
Winter presented out a piece of paper to the gang, "This is a list of where the Pokémon contests here in Hoenn are being held," she said, "and the nearest one is in Slateport City."
"Really?" May asked, "then we should go there then. I'm going to enter this one."
So the next stop was for Slateport City for the next Pokémon contest.

1. Ash should have gotten Sableye in the anime.
2. To the reader: The other elite four members of Hoenn will be featured in the story. Winter may battle one or two of them.
3. Sorry, I meant to have explained that Luna met Bruno and battled him with Onix vs Lucario, when she trained some of her Pokémon in the mountains before the Indigo league. So sorry.
