Chapter 4 ~ Lake

"Wait prophecy? Is that why Husk dragged me from the palace?" Lake blurted, "I'm apart of the prophecy too, am I?"

I knew I was special! Ha! Maybe being in a prophecy makes me look all sparkly and magical! Does it?

He thought and looked down at his scales, which remained normal.

Darn it.

"I could be busier right now!" Grand stomped his foot, sending rock dust flying.

"Your going to get that stuff on my scales!" Lake jumped back, whining.

"Me? Like really Me? I..." Nyx trailed off, her eyes widening.

Tipwing nodded, "Yes, you. Every dragon here except for me and Beetle Crusher I suppose."

Lake smiled triumphantly, "Yes! Once every Seawing knows I'm part of a prophecy they will definitely vote for me at the show."

Morganite frowned, "That's probably not how it works."

"How would a Silkwing like you know." Lake sniffed, tilting his head upward, his wings spread slightly.

"Your not going home until it's fulfilled." Beetle Crusher snorted, wrinkling his snout at Morganite and Lake. He returned the look of disgust right back at him, digging his webbed claws into the rather cold stone floor.

"Really?" Grand hissed and took a menacing step forward.

Lake rolled his eyes, "Of course I can go home, right?" He stretched his wings and straightened up into his beautiful mode he practiced.

"Not a chance." Beetle Crusher scowled, staring him down.

"Let's not be too quick to go making enemies." Tipwing rested his wing on his fellow Silkwing's shoulder.

ULake decided not to comment, instead he glanced regally around the cave. Grand still looked hissy. Nyx looked... no she was just watching the two Silkwings. And Morganite looked about ready to pounce on something. Lake followed his gaze, right towards the whole he had made himself.

In a split second the silkwing launched himself upwards, spreading his four wings to beat himself towards the hole. There was an outraged roar and cloud of rock dust hit Lake in the face. He scrunched his snout and leaped backsher instant instantly, his tail colliding with the back wall. He coughed and held his wings tightly tlyo his sides, not wanting to get any rock dust on them.

Lake squinted through the haze. As the cloud cleared he saw Beetle Crusher attempting to shove himself through the hole.  The buff Silkwing was too large though.

"He escaped!" Tipwing hissed and dragged Beetle Crusher away so he couldn't ry to fit through. Tipwing was still pretty muscular but still barely made I through.

Lake yawned, "He was kinda too pretty anyway."

Beetle Crusher turned on him, snarling. The Silkwing's wings and shoulders were scraped from his attempt to follow Morganite. Without a word he whipped his tail out and struck the he side of Lake's face.

Lake fell back against the wall, genially surprised. His face stung and the force of the impact had knocked all the air out of him.

"Hey! Wouldn't he still be apart of the prophecy?" Nyx spread her wings, her face a mixture of worry and disgust. Something he had never seen on the Sandwing's face.

"Never mind, I'm outta here." Grand leaped into flight and veered towards the hole.

"No!" Beetle Crusher flew up faster and blocked it.

Grand hissed, and fire was starting to form along the edges of his mouth. He was about to spray the Silkwing with his blazing hot breath but something else happened before.

There was flash of silver and the whirling of black wings and both dragons, Skywing (ish) and Silkwing fell tot he ground, scarlet beads dripping front their snouts.

"No need." Said the mysterious dragon, "In a couple moments, it won't matter. You will all meet the same fate."
