Chapter 9

(Disclaimer: I don't own Undertale and Haikyuu. They belong to Toby Fox and Haruichi Furudate. This book was made for fun)

(First Person: Hinata's PoV)

The house was cozy and very homey. It reminds me of a family home which makes me wonder more about Toriel. The strangest sight however is the staircase. It appears to be leading to somewhere but Toriel led us to a hallway on the right into a room. Just by standing in the doorway, I could tell that it was a children's room. The box of toys, the drawings, the lamp, the closet, you get the idea. "I sadly don't have a spare room so this will do if any of you two want to rest," Toriel explained. Kageyama entered the room and collapsed on the bed and not long after, I could hear some soft snoring. He was fast asleep. "Oh dear, I guess he really was tired," she said. "Well he was up since light dawn and walking from those patches of flowers to here sure didn't help," I explained. "My goodness why was he up that early?" Toriel asked. I was about to explain it to her but stopped. I didn't feel like explaining why Kageyama even went up this mountain and why I followed him. The truth was way too embarrassing to explain it to a stranger. Even if she was kind enough to let us in her house. "Well if you want, you're free to explore here and a little bit of the Ruins if you're not feeling tired. Just don't go that far alright," Toriel said and with that, she walked away. She called over her shoulder, "Just don't go down where the stairs are!" I looked confused. What's underneath there, I thought. I looked over at Kageyama who of course is still sleeping. Looks like he's going to be sleeping a while. Best if I explore our surroundings and see if there is a way out, I thought. I closed the door, leaving it unlocked. It's not like Toriel is going to do anything. I went right and saw a vase with the same golden flowers from that patch of flowers. I looked up and saw myself in the mirror. I look like a mess, I thought as I brush away a strand of hair that was in my eyes. I wiped away some dirt that was on my cheek and spotted two more doors. One was open while the other had a sign on it. Closed for convenience, said the sign. I wonder what that means, I thought and turned my attention to the open room. I went in and saw another bedroom. This was obviously Toriel's room since it looks more formal. My eyes wandered to a book that was open. I walked over there and saw that the book was filled with jokes and puns. I read them and snickered at some of them. Who knew Goat Mom was a jokester? I blinked when I realized that I gave Toriel a nickname. Goat mom? I mean we jokingly call Sugawara Mama Crow but now that I think about it, they do act similar, I thought. I walked out of the room and walked to the left. I noticed a bookshelf and took one book out. It was titled, "Our Story" and I read it. Oddly enough it was translated so many times and I found the Japanese version. It went something like monsters and humans lived together a long long time ago but there was a war between the two races. Humankind won and exiled the monsters to the mountain where 8 wizards sealed it with magic. Over time, it has been clear that humanity lost their magic abilities and I was lost when I read that. I kept rereading the kanji and no I was not mistaken. Humans did have magic but that was over thousands of years ago and it makes me wonder, how old is Goat Mom? I let out a sigh and kept reading. There wasn't much except just how dangerous it could be if humans found a way to revive their magic abilities. Their souls simply wouldn't take the strain and if they could, who knows how that human will use that magic. I closed the book and put it back. I needed to process that because that was an untold story that nobody told me. It didn't seem like it was told to anyone. I groaned, "Why can't I just be a regular volleyball player?" I wandered back to the entrance

I poked my head out and let out another sigh. I walked out and went down to a corridor that Kageyama and I didn't go down when we first came over here. He was too tired to walk more and I was worried for him so getting to Toriel's house was our first priority. But now that he is resting, my curiosity was telling me to explore a bit. The first room had nothing but a knife?! I examined it and realized it was a toy knife. I put that in my pocket since it was small enough to fit there. The second room had a red ribbon. It looked nice so I pocketed that too. I kept running into many monsters and I spared them. The Ruins seem like home to many of the monsters here which got me wondering, how many monsters were banished here? I wandered into a hallway that had red leaves and I was awfully curious on where the end of the hallway has... if not for the ghost blocking the way. Yeah you heard me right, a ghost monster was blocking the way of the hallway. I cautiously walked up to the ghost and cleared my throat. "Oh............hello............" the ghost said, sounding depressed. "Umm hi? So *ahem* you mind moving a bit. I'm trying to get to the other room," I said trying to sound polite. "Am I in the way? I'm always in there way of other people," the ghost said still sounding depressed. "Oh uh, I didn't mean it that way. Sorry but I do want to see what's in the other room," I said, inching forward a little more closer. "No need to apologize............. I get it all the time.........." he said. I felt bad for him but my curiosity was screaming at me about that room. It better be worth it or else this could be for nothing, I thought. "Are you getting impatient? I can see it in your eyes," the ghost asked and I jumped. "No no. I'm not. It's just... look I'm going to see what's in that room so if you don't mind moving," I said, taking another step forward. "Are you going to attack me?" He asked. "No, I'm not. Now if you just," I took another step forward but my soul appeared and I was thrown into battle. "I don't feel like it today but ok..........." the ghost said. "Huh what but I don't want to fight you!" I cried. "You remind me of someone I once saw. A nice human, they spared me and fought me at the same time. They turned other monsters to dust and spared them. My memory is all messed up," the ghost said. I looked confused. Another human fell down here and they dusted other monsters. What does that mean? I wondered.

"Let's fight now," the ghost said. "But I'm not fighting you," I said. "You provoked me. Which means you want to start a fight. Like all those bullies when I was younger," he said sadly. I blinked. "I...provoked you...? Is that how it even works?" I asked. "Do you not know anything about here? You either get thrown in to battle or you provoke a monster into a fight. You provoked me so you get a fight. It's very simple................" the ghost explained. I sighed, "But I didn't mean it though. Like I said, I don't want a fight. I was just exploring the place." The ghost sighed, "But I saw you with her." "Her? Toriel? What about her?" I asked. "She is very nice and all but very clingy. If you show any signs of ever leaving the Ruins, she will do everything in her power to make you stay. All the other humans managed to escape her but what about you? Are you determined to stay her forever?" He asked. "Hell no! After my companion wakes up, we'll be finding a way out of her," I said and the ghost shrink back a little. "The only way out of the Ruins is through her house," the ghost said. Is that where the stairs led? I wondered. "Alright...........I told you enough...........let's fight," he said. I yelped. I don't want to fight him!

(Guess who makes an appearance now! Sorry blooky for not including you in the last chapter but here you go. A special appearance. I honestly suspected that if humans did know magic a long time ago in the Undertale story then they would also still have magic in when Undertale takes place. They just forgot how to use it. Since there is not much to say here, I'll just lead you with a cya later. I'll see you in the next one -Flare)
