Chapter 6
(Disclaimer: I don't own Undertale and Haikyuu. They belong to Toby Fox and Haruichi Furudate. This book was made for fun)
(First person)
I was still holding onto Hinata as a large goat figure wearing some sort of purple dress appeared on the spot where the flower has once been. I noticed that the goat's dress has that same symbol that we kept seeing on the carvings. The goat's face was filled with worry but I felt like I didn't trust them. Not after the Flowey incident. "Oh dear, your friend is bleeding. Let me help, I know a bit of healing magic," the goat said, sounding female. I narrowed my eyes. Even more magic. Isn't that swell, I thought, still holding Hinata. "Magic is what got him like this," I muttered and she pursued her lips. "Oh that weed, always picking on innocent souls when they fell down here. Don't worry, I'm not like that," she said. I still kept our distance away but then I heard Hinata cough. This scared me because his cough was faint and when I looked down at his face, it was white as a sheet. I mentally slapped myself and turned my head to look at the goat. "Fine heal him," I growled. She cautiously approached us and help her hand above Hinata's forehead. A small green glow seemed to surround her hand and his forehead. Some color went back to his face and he started to breath easier. Then she hovered her hand over his wound and the wound had stopped bleeding. The goat removed her hand away from him and I checked the wound. It was sealed closed like when cuts are fully healed. "Not all magic is used for harm," she explained. I muttered a thanks and asked, "Is there a way out?" The goat jumped in surprised. "Way out...?" She asked. I raised an eyebrow. "Yeah so we can go home," I explained. "I...I don't think so," the goat said but I can tell that she's lying. It was so easy to tell but I went along with the charade. "Well thanks anyway, we'll find a way out ourselves," I said, trying to get up but Hinata was still on me and he wasn't moving. "Hey what the heck, you moron," I said but I could hear a faint snore. Great, he's asleep now what? I thought. "It seems like he is sleeping my child. Why don't you come to my house and rest?" The goat suggested. Just my luck. When this idiot has the greatest idea of falling asleep on me and this random goat lady offers to bring two complete strangers to her house for rest?! Also while Hinata may look like a child, I certainly don't! I silently ranted in my head. The goat was waiting for an answer. "Ugh fine," I grumbled. "Alright, my house is at the far end of the ruins so you need to stick with me most of the journey," she explained. I picked up Hinata and placed him on my back because I don't want to drag him around the place and I certainly don't trust this lady so I'm keeping distance. "Oh silly me, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Toriel, caretaker of the ruins," she said. Ruins? I wondered. "Well my name is Kageyama and his is Hinata," I muttered, just wanting to have introductions out of the way so she won't bug us while we go with her. "Those are nice names," she said. I followed Toriel into a large entrance with a pile of leaves, two staircases and an odd golden star. "Welcome to the Ruins," Toriel said as she waited on the top of the staircase. This lady sure can move fast, I thought. I stored that in my mind in case I needed it. I approached the star thing and studied it. I held out my hand to touch it and there was an odd Ping! noise. It opened something up that had both of our names on it and said, "Looking at the looming Ruins fills you both with determination." FILE SAVE.
I wondered what could that mean. It kind of reminds me of those save files in RPG's. I shrugged it off for now because to me it didn't seem important at the moment. I walked up the staircase with difficulty because of the extra weight on my back. Hinata's weight surprised me. Even if he was short, I thought he'd be a bit more heavier but apparently that's not the case. We made it up the staircase and we entered another room. There was a dummy there... and nothing else. While I was wondering what the frick was this room made for when Toriel made her way to the dummy. She motioned me to come towards the dummy. I let out a sigh, thinking how did I get into this mess. "Now the Ruins are filled with monsters and you two are humans. You'll need to learn how to defend yourselves by not fighting," she explained. I stared at her in disbelief. Not fighting?! Is she serious?! I thought. "Go and practice talking with the dummy. A lot of monsters just attack if you scare them by accident. If you chat them with them, then they'll understand that you mean no harm and would let you spare them," Toriel explained. I muttered, "I guess that makes sense," however I didn't want to feel ridiculous just talking to a dummy. "Go on. Dummies like listening to people practicing talking," Toriel said. A lot of colorful phrases went through my head but I remained silent and walked up to the dummy, refusing to let go of Hinata. Then the same thing happened when Flowey was showing us how thing worked. This time, I could see four options. [Fight], [Act], [Item], and [Mercy]. I realized that I should have asked what they mean. "I guess Act?" I wondered. I press the button. Two options *Check* and *Talk.* I pressed the check button. Dummy- Atk 0. Def: 0. It's just a dummy. So if I attack it, then it would get defeated and it wouldn't be able to attack me, I thought. I was so tempted to press the fight button but I could feel Toriel's piercing stare. I instead pressed the act button and pressed Talk. I felt ridiculous but I muttered a hello to the dummy. It didn't move like how I expected. I kept talking to it asking how their day went, how the weather was even though we are inside, and if they liked any sports. No response from the dummy at all. I felt like I wanted to punch something but I could feel Hinata's sleeping breath. I asked the dummy if there was someone that they cared about and it appeared that the dummy had nodded. Well it moved a bit as if the wind moved it but it was perfect timing.
I kept talking to the dummy, asking if they know where the person that they cared about was. The dummy seemed to not know where they were at the moment. After a while of talking, I eventually pressed the mercy button and saw a *Spare* and *Flee* button. The spare button was yellow and I pressed it. The words, You have spared the dummy. You gain 0 exp and 0 gold, came from the text box. "Wow you're great at talking!" Toriel exclaimed happily. Is she effing serious right now, I thought. I heard Hinata mutter something about meat buns and that they should share them. That's off topic but ok, I thought. "Come along, there is still a long way to my house and still a lot of things you should learn," Toriel said and with that, she walked out of the room. I sighed, "can't this day get any worse?" There was no sounds minus Hinata's sleepy breathing. I followed Toriel.
(Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand we're done. Sorry if this took so long, I was busy one day and school piled up a lot of work for me yesterday so I couldn't even start on it. Thanks for 100+ reads and if there is anyone out there reading, don't be shy and leave a comment. You also have an option to follow and vote. I have a question. While I'm writing this, should I work on another book on the side? I might lose some motivation on working on the same thing so maybe working on both could make me not lose motivation. There is a con though: I may be even more tired than I already am. Online school takes up most of my schedule. The props of being a high school student :,). Anyway, should I or should I not work on a side story while still working on this? Leave your thoughts in the comments. Cya in the next one -Flare.)
