Chapter 12
(Disclaimer: I don't own Undertale and Haikyuu. They belong to Toby Fox and Haruichi Furudate. This book was made for fun)
(Third person)
The options appeared up again. [Fight] [Act] [Item] [Mercy]. Hinata shakily pressed [Act] and checked Toriel's stats. Toriel: HP: 440. AT:80. DF:80. The two boys looked at each other, thinking the same thing, This is going to be harder than I thought. She led with streams of fireballs that were shot down at them from the top. There was an opening in the middle however. Kageyama seized the opportunity and dodged the fireballs until he jumped onto a safe spot in the right corner. Hinata was not so lucky and got hit twice but thanks to the ribbon upping his defense, the damage wasn't too bad. He also jumped onto the safe spot but it was the left corner instead of the right corner. "Hinata! Are you alright?" Kageyama asked and Hinata gave him a thumbs up. The options appeared again. It was their turn. Kageyama was looking skeptical at the options before pressing the [Act] button and pressed the Talk option. Kageyama opened his mouth to say something but he closed it for he had nothing to say. He gulped thinking, what do we do now? Hinata himself looked like he was in deep thought but snapped out of it when it was Toriel's turn again. Thicker streams of fireballs appeared which made it more difficult for the two boys to dodge. Kageyama got hit by one of them, taking 4 damage.
It was their turn again. Hinata did the same thing as he did before. But what should we talk about? Should we convince her into not attacking us? Should we talk about pie, our memories of volleyball? He wondered. There wasn't anything he could say. Because he couldn't think of anything to say. He made a fist. What should we do? We came unprepared thinking that we might escape without a fight, he thought. Toriel was also saying nothing but he could hear her muttering, "it's for their own good." Toriel's turn again. The fireballs were coming in faster and faster making the orange haired boy dizzy. He got hit twice again. This is bad, Kageyama thought. He tried doing the Talk option but he still couldn't think about a topic to talk about. Ironically, talking doesn't seem to be the solution to this situation, he thought. Kageyama was starting to study the goat monster and noticed that she was holding back. Just a little bit back. Toriel was really close to do a very powerful attack. He wiped the sweat off his forehead. Things were really heated up with the fire magic that Toriel was throwing around. He didn't like this. Dam it! If only we had time to think of a strategy, he thought. Toriel used the same attack but was faster than last time. Kageyama heard a yelp and noticed Hinata getting hit by a fireball. He raced towards him and caught him as Hinata fell backwards. "You alright?" He asked. Hinata nodded and got up. "Kageyama what do we do?" The small boy asked. "I don't know but we have to be careful. Toriel seems to be preparing a powerful attack," Kageyama explained. Hinata pressed the [Item] and selected a piece of candy and ate it. That healed his HP by 5 points. "How did you-?" Kageyama and Hinata answered quickly, "I was messing around earlier with some stuff and discovered this by accident. Apparently food heals our HP plus it's in many video games." Since when did he grew a brain, that boke, Kageyama thought.
"Look out!" Hinata said suddenly and shoved Kageyama away to avoid more fireballs this time being guided by a paw. Kageyama silently swore under his breath. If we live through this, I'm going to kill him! He thought. They both ran away from the fireballs to avoid being hit. Hinata tripped however and almost hit the paw. He jumped backwards and crashed into Kageyama. "Hey watch it you idiot!" He yelled while Hinata apologized. "This is a mess. We're tripping over our own feet and it feels cramped," Kageyama said. "I suppose you don't have a plan?" Hinata asked. "Like hell I do," Kageyama said, pressing the [Item] button and selected another piece of candy and popped it into his mouth, healing him by 5 points. Toriel repeated the attack. Should we attack her? Kageyama wondered. It seemed like the logical choice but they didn't seem to have a way to attack her. Hinata didn't appear to be holding the stick that he had earlier so that was out of the question. Hinata went to the [Mercy] button and tried pressing Spare but nothing happened. Toriel didn't say anything. That moron! He wasted a turn now it's her turn to attack! Kageyama thought. Toriel used the same move that she used when the battle first began. However the attack became faster and faster. Kageyama was panting for he was tired. He glanced at Hinata who was still standing but his legs were shaking. This is bad...really bad. If we don't have a plan, then we're toasted, Kageyama thought. Hinata was keeping his eyes on Toriel but occasionally glanced at Kageyama. It's his turn. What will he do? Will he attack? Oh... what do I do if he does? He thought, remembering what Flowey said. He felt cold despite the heat of the fire. Hinata placed his hand together and held them up to his chest. What if he notices the toy knife in the inventory? Oh please just spare her. Our souls can't take the exp that we'll get if we end up killing Toriel. But...he doesn't know that. Dam it, I'm so stupid, Hinata's thoughts were swimming around his head that it hurts. His head wasn't the only thing that hurt and held his stomach and covered his mouth. "Hinata you boke! Now is not the time to vomit!" Kageyama yelled at him and Hinata jumped. "I'm not gonna!" He yelled back.
Kageyama shook his head at him. This is a mess. We should flee and rethink of a plan but what if she destroys it before we can think of a plan?! He thought. It was his turn and he was stalling. He pressed the [Mercy] button and tried sparing. Nothing. Toriel's turn again. She used the paw attack again. Both boys were able to dodge the paw but forgot about the fireballs. They both got hit multiple times down to a small bit of HP. They thought they'd be fine...until another paw appeared. Kageyama dodged it barely on time but Hinata wasn't so lucky. Kageyama turned around to see that Hinata was nowhere to be found. "Hinata? Hinata! Where the hell are you?!" He called out. Dam you! He thought and ran towards Toriel to attack her even though he had nothing to attack her with. However, he forgot it was still her turn and that the fireballs that launched from the paw hit him. He felt something crack and his vision went black.

"Kageyama?"
(First person)
I woke back up when I heard someone say my name. I sat straight up and felt some leaves being crunched. I looked around and saw him. That annoying orange haired shrimp that none of us can't live without. "Sh-! Hinata I thought you died! I-I didn't see you after that last attack," I stammered before I realized what I said. "I-I mean...you idiot! Where the hell were you?" Hinata folded his arms. "I died," he said simply. "What do you mean died? You're clearly alive here," I said, poking his forehead. He pursued his lip and thought about it. "Nope! We both died then came back to life," Hinata simply said. "Now that makes even less sense. How are we both dead?" I asked. "We're not dead. We died but we're not dead anymore. It's well...I have a theory," he explained. I was waiting for him to elaborate. "Eek! I meant...umm how do I explain it? It's basically that...I think," Hinata pointed to something. It was the golden star thing. "And?" "Well I saw a game over screen and a text box appeared with the word, Hinata stay determined. Or something like that... and th-then I appeared here. A-and then you came along as w-well," he explained. That's a lot of bull. How can someone come back to life and I didn't see any game over screen. This is not a game, I thought. "I can tell that you don't believe me b-but think about it. W-we are the only ones that can see that star. That can't be one of us hallucinating because two people can't have the same hallucinations (from what I heard)," Hinata muttered. I grabbed his hair firmly. He let out a yelp of pain. "You have been hanging around Nekoma's setter too much. You have developed a gamer brain," I said. "No I haven't! It was the only conclusion I could up with before you appeared, now Can you please let go of my hair?" Hinata asked, trying to remove my hand from his hair but I held on tightly. "Geez, you never react like this. I thought you'd agree since we know basically nothing of this place," Hinata winced.
I rolled my eyes at him. "Can you let go now? You're hurting me," Hinata whimpered and I let go. "That hurt. You never grab on like that before. What's up with you?" He asked but I didn't respond. Hinata got up and walked back to the house. "Hey, get back here. We don't know how things will b-," I said but I got cut off by a familiar voice. "Oh you're back already from exploring. I suppose the Ruins aren't that long," Toriel Said. I stood there in shock. H-how? She's supposed to be down there. And how are we in friendly terms now? I thought. "Are you ok? You look like you've seen a ghost," Toriel asked, her voice laced with worry. Hinata looked equally shocked. "We uh...well you see..." he tried saying but he seemed like he couldn't say anything. "The two of us are...well... we're going to the room to chat with each other for a bit!" He blurted out and dragged me to the room, Toriel looking confused behind us. Hinata shut the door behind us and took a shaky breath. "How do you explain that gamer brain?" I asked, clearly not recovering from the shock. Hinata shook his head. "I don't know," he said. "Golly you sure you are dumb," a familiar voice said. We both jumped and turned around to spot him. "Flowey," I said, my voice lacing with venom. Hinata yelped and hid behind me. "I suspect you guys don't even know what you're doing. That fight with Toriel. Geez that sure was cringy to watch," Flowey remarked. (Way to spread shade on my writing Flowey) "Hey it's not our fault. We had no warning at all," I snapped. " *sigh* listen. If you keep that up, you're going to keep dying multiple times and keep resetting to the save point," Flowey explained. "What do you mean by that?" I asked. Flowey smiled. "It's a game. You have to act like it's a game," he explained. I felt Hinata grip on my arm. "If you die and were lucky enough to touch a save point, then you'll come back to the save point before the battle. This would continue unless you go the boring way which is to spare her or the fun way, to kill her," Flowey crackled. Kill? I thought. "We won't kill her," Hinata said, softly. Flowey rolled his eyes. "I know you wouldn't tangerine. You're too weak and stupid to even lay a finger on a monster," he said. "Hey, the only one who can call him stupid is me what's your problem?" I snapped. Flowey glanced at me and then looked back at Hinata and then he looked back at me. He smiled. "This sure will be entertaining. Will you kill or will you not kill? How exciting!" He said and popped out of there. Son of a b- I thought. (No SwEaRiNg On My MinEcRaFt SeRvEr!!) Hinata took a shaky breath and said, "we won't be killing anyone." I was about to make a comment about that but when I turn to look at his face, it was white as a sheet. He kept repeating those words under his breath and I wasn't sure how to comfort him. I eventually gave him a small hug as he kept repeating that to himself. This can't get any worse can it? I wondered.
(FINALLY! I NEVER THOUGHT I'D FINISH THIS CHAPTER! Phew anyway, I just realized that I made both Hinata and Kageyama too OOC (Well maybe not Kags) and I mentally slap myself for that. I'll probably go back and revise those older chapters sometime in the future so there is that. Chapters on this book will be coming out slower so watch out for that. Cya in the next one -Flare.)
