Chapter 11

(Disclaimer: I don't own Undertale and Haikyuu. They belong to Toby Fox and Haruichi Furudate. This book was made for fun)
(First person: Kageyama's PoV. Yeah we're going back to the main narrator unless someone else wants to speak.)

I woke up in a strange bed. I didn't want to move from it because it felt warm. I tried to remember how did I get here. My eyesight was adjusting to the light and fell upon a certain orange haired annoyance. "Oh no," I muttered. "Morning, sleepyhead. How was your nap?" Hinata teased, smiling. I reached for something and grabbed a stuffed animal and threw it at him. He caught it and I grumbled something to myself. "Aww come on. Get up already. You slept for far too long," he complained. I got up and rubbed my eyes. "Can't you just shut up for a few minutes? I'm getting a migraine from listening to you," I yawned. Hinata sticked his tongue at me. I sniffed and there was something sweet in the air. "What are you eating?" I asked but Hinata said nothing. I asked him again but still no response. "Oi! Answer me!" I yelled, grabbing the pillow and throwing it at him. He dodged it and smiled. "Aww I thought you wanted me to shut up for a few minutes?" He teased. I grumbled something unpleasant under my breath. "I take that back. Can you please tell what are you eating?" I asked a little more gently. Hinata looked confused but he replied, "Cinnamon pie. Toriel made it for us. There's another slice for you." He pointed to a plate next to him that had a slice of pie and a fork. I got out of the bed and picked up the plate. It smelled so good but I was suspicious. I studied the pie slice and poked it with the fork. "Eat it. There's nothing dangerous with it. I'm eating my slice and I haven't dropped dead yet," Hinata said. "Yet," I pointed out. I grabbed the fork and took a piece of pie. I looked at it skeptically and ate it. It tasted good so I ate another piece. After a while, I noticed that I ate the entire slice. I didn't realize that I was that hungry. "Was it good?" Hinata asked, putting his plate down. I wiped my mouth and nodded. "Alright! Let's go, you slept for far too long," Hinata said, putting his hands together in a clapping gesture to his chest. He grabbed his plate and got up, walking out of the room. I followed his example. We saw Toriel in a rocking chair, reading. She looked up and smiled. "Oh you're up already. Good, now put those in the sink, I'll wash them later," she said. "It's alright, we'll wash them now to save you the trouble," Hinata said and pulled me over to the kitchen. "Hinata you're acting weird. What's up with that?" I asked. "I'm not acting weird. I just think it's polite to wash the dishes and save her the trouble," he replied. I noticed something was in his hair. "Is that a ribbon on your hair? Where did you find it?" I asked. "Found it while I was exploring. By the way, I need to tell you something," he replied, lowering his voice.

I looked at the small, orange haired boy. He looked different from the last time I saw him which wasn't too long ago. He sounded scared and a little bit depressed. Hinata was avoiding my eyes and was looking at my shoulder as if he was trying to trick me into that he is looking at me but I could tell that something was up with him. "Tell me what?" I asked, also lowering my voice. "I found a way out of here," he whispered. "What?!" "Shhhh," he shushed me. I was surprised that he found out a way out of the Ruins. "Where?" I asked. "You know that staircase in the middle of the house? Those stairs led to the exit," Hinata replied. I did recall some stairs when we first walked in and I do remember passing some after I woke up. I tried looking at him directly in the eye but he still avoided my eyes. "I have a feeling that there is a catch," I said and he nodded. "I heard that Toriel will stop at nothing just to keep us here in the Ruins," Hinata explained. "Why?" I asked. He shrugged, "That I don't know." I started to think about how can we escape. If we just find the right time to escape from her then there's a chance for us to escape but how? Hinata turned back to wash his dish and my thoughts strayed away from thinking of a plan to him and how adorable he is. I shook my head. No frick! Don't think that, you moron! Our lives are on the line here, I thought, hoping that I wasn't blushing. I walked to the sink to wash my own dish and my eyes strayed to the ribbon on Hinata's hair. Where did he find that? Who did it originally belong? I wondered. The water was rushing as Hinata and I were scrubbing the plates to make them clean. I finished first and I put the plate to dry. I turned to look at Hinata, who has stopped scrubbing and I noticed his hands were shaking. "Umm, Hinata are you done?" I asked and he flinched. "Huh! O-o-oh yeah..." he muttered and put his plate with mine to dry off. That's when I noticed his eyes. They were puffy as if he was crying earlier when I was asleep. "Hinata are you ok?" I asked him, drying my hands before putting one on his shoulder. "I'm fine," he muttered, drying off his hands but still not directly looking at me. "No you are not fine. Your eyes look puffy. Where you crying earlier?" I asked. He started to shake but still he shook his head. I was starting to feel pissed. "Oi! This is the few times where I openly worry about you so tell me what's wrong," I said, raising my voice and grabbing both of his shoulders. Hinata looked surprised at the gesture before looking away. I was feeling pissed off so I whacked his head. "OW!" He yelped. "You idiot. How am I supposed to help you if you don't tell me what's wrong," I said. Hinata bit his lip. "Don't lie. I can tell something is wrong," I said more softly so I don't scare him. Then he did the unexpected. If it was any other time, I would have not allowed it and he knows it. However he was feeling vulnerable and I could tell. Hinata sniffed and pulled me into a hug. I was surprised at this as he openly sobbed on me. Like i said, if this was any other time I would have pushed him away. However this time, I knew I couldn't do that. I needed to comfort the human tangerine. I hugged him back and patted his back. "There, there. Let it out," I muttered as he continued to sob. Toriel came into the kitchen asking, "What's going o-?" She spotted us hugging and she could clearly hear Hinata sobbing. Her eyes were filled with sympathy like how a mother would look before she comforts her child. Which made me wonder more about her. She walked over to us and gave us both a small hug before she let go. She smiled warmly at me before going back to her chair. I was still hugging Hinata as he still sobbed.

It took a while for Hinata to calm down. He let go of me and sniffed, "Thanks...I needed that." I felt concerned for him and gripped his arms. "We'll talk about this another time. Whenever you're ready," I said, removing one hand to wipe his tear stained face. Hinata nodded and sniffed again. He walked out of the kitchen and I was standing there, aware of what just happened. I wiped some of the tears that was on my uniform. Well, I need to wash this later, I thought. I looked up and let out a tired sigh. Hinata is one of the strongest people I know which is shocking. What caused him to break down like that? I wondered. I tried my best to comfort him but I felt like I should have done more. I shook my head and put my hands in my pockets. I walked out of the kitchen and saw Hinata on the floor, reading. Toriel was humming a tune and the atmosphere was calming. I walked over to Hinata and asked, "what are you reading?" He showed me, "It's a cookbook for pie." "You can cook?" I asked, mildly surprised. "No but I want to learn," Hinata said and continue reading the book. "Maybe one day I can teach you," Toriel suggested. "Yeah that'll be great," Hinata said softly. "I think the rest of the team will appreciate your cooking...if you don't burn it at least," I teased him. "Hey! I can learn how to," Hinata said, giving me an irritated look which was exaggerated. "What do you mean, the rest of the team?" Toriel asked suddenly. "Oh we are a part of the volleyball team of our school. I am a middle blocker and Kageyama is a setter," Hinata explained. He then processed to explain what we do on the team and explaining how our matches went. Toriel listened politely even though it's possible that she may not understand what he is saying because of how he explains things. "Hey when can we can go home?" I asked suddenly, cutting of Hinata's explaining of our quick attack. He was about to complain when Toriel beat him to it. "Go home? What do you mean? This is Home," she said innocently. "This is your home not ours. Our families and teammates are probably worried about us," I explained. She then proceeded to play deaf and continued to read her own book. I scowled at her and Hinata pulled me over to the children's bedroom.

"Kageyama not now," he said as he shut the door behind him. "What do you mean not now!" I asked angrily. Great now we are back at our old routine, I thought. "We can't just ask her now. We have to wait until she sees that we are homesick enough for us to let us go," Hinata explained. "That's kind of guilt tripping her. Are you sure that's the best course of action?" I asked. "Well it's not guilt tripping if we really are homesick," Hinata said quietly. I stayed silent, considering this. "So how long do we have to wait?" I asked. "Not long I hope," Hinata replied. Bad idea but it's the best we got, I thought. Hinata sat on the bed, hugging his knees. He was staring at the children's drawing on the wall. I sat down next to him. "So...are you doing ok?" I asked, trying to make small talk. "Doing better than I was while you were sleeping," Hinata replied and I felt a rush of guilt. "I'm sorry..." I muttered but he shook his head. "Not your fault. You were tired so you deserved that rest," Hinata explained. We stayed silent and I was praying that Hinata wouldn't hear my beating heart. It felt loud. Why am I like this around him, I thought. "I wanna go home," Hinata muttered as he leaned on me. I felt myself go red but I couldn't let Hinata see that. I looked away and said, "Me too." We stayed like that for a while until Toriel knocked on the door. "I'm going out for a bit so stay here in the room until I come back," she said but there was something in her voice that made me feel suspicious about her. She walked away and I sat up straight causing Hinata to fall onto my lap. He got up as quickly as he can, apologizing and red in the face. I didn't hear this and I got up and opened the door slowly and peek through to see if Toriel left. I noticed her going down the stairs and motioned Hinata to come over. "This could be our chance of escape," I whispered to him. He trembled with excitement and as soon as Toriel disappeared from our sight, we quickly and quietly came out of the room and followed her. This is it! I thought. Hinata quickly ran into the kitchen and ran out with his bag. "What were you doing there?!" I quietly hissed. "We have to be prepared," he replied. I rolled my eyes but we heard Toriel's voice. "I know you two are there. Go back, there is nothing to see here," she said. Hinata jumped in surprised and grabbed my arm. He hid behind me and I was trying not to blush. We continued following her silently. The path was bare and looked lonely. Toriel stopped and repeated that we should go back to the room. She kept walking out of sight. Hinata continued holding onto my arm, trembling. I wasn't quite sure if he was scared or excited to leave. We kept following her. At last, we stopped in front of a door and we would have escape if it wasn't for the goat lady in front of it. "My children...you need to learn some manners," Toriel said in a low voice. "Toriel...we just want to leave," Hinata said. "I know... but you can't. To prove that, I'm going to destroy the door," she rasped. Hinata's grip tighten and I knew what he was thinking. "Listen, we can't stay here. Our families and friends will be worried for us. We can't leave them behind. So step away from that door before anything bad happens," I said, raising my voice. "You can't!" Toriel cried, hitting her fist onto the door. I was shocked to see this reaction from an otherwise gentle monster. "You can't leave. If you leave they... Asgore... will kill you," she said, shaking. If we leave... we'll get killed?! I thought. "I still want to leave. Please just let us go...we'll be careful," Hinata said, his voice breaking. There was silence. Just silence. And then... "Prove it to me." "Huh?" "Then prove it to me that you two can survive the Underground," Toriel said, slowly turning to face us. I could feel Hinata shaking and I turn my head to see his face. His face was showing true terror. He was afraid. Sh- I think we bit of more than we can chew! I thought. Before we could even say anything, we got pulled into battle. It was our first boss battle.

(Dam this took a long time but it was worth it. Not gonna lie but I think this may be my favorite chapter to write. A lot of KageHina bonding moments. Is it wrong that I had the feels while writing this? I think I may sacrifice my thumbs in writing the next chapter since that will be The Chapter. You know a boss battle. I'll try my best in writing the Goat Mom battle. Until then, I'll see you all next time -Flare)
