Chapter 2 ~ Medicine Cat?
It was still storming. The rain was forever restless, pouring down on the world. Lightening still flickered high in the clouds, the ominous boom of thunder still reached Dapple's ears.
The Sunshine Group had so graciously let Dapple and Peak stay in their tree house, allowing them to shelter from the howling, cruel wind. As the weather got worse, the cats started to huddle together quietly as the storm wore on.
"So..." It was Cardinal, the gray tom, who broke the silence, "Dapple, Peak, I was wondering, have any of you found mates yet?" There was a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Found?" Dapple tipped her head, slightly confused.
"Never mind." Cardinal sighed, giving up whatever he was trying to get at.
"Hi hiiiiii! Are you ok?" Blazey's voice echoed. Dapple turned to see the Calico kit leaning out of the tree house, looking down at something.
"Blazey! Get away from there your going to fall!" Bluewing leaped to her paws.
Dapple leaped forward a grabbed Blazey's scruff and tugged her back, but not before she saw a flash of ginger and white on the soaked ground below.
"There's a cat down there!" The she-kit said, trying to wiggle out of Dapple's grip.
"Who?" Cardinal leaned over the edge, ears flattening against the rain.
"They need help!" Blazey mewed.
Mocking Bird padded up beside the gray tom, "I'll check it out! Be right back!"
With that the black she-cat disappeared over the edge.
"Wait!" Cardinal tried to reach down but it seemed Mocking Bird had already gone.
Dapple set down Blazey and ordered her to return to her mother. Peak joined Cardinal at tech edge and Pine Leaf sat down, tail flicking.
After a small while, Mocking Bird came up, helping a ginger she-cat with a white chest and paws scrabble up also. Cardinal and Peak reaches out and grabbed their scruffs to haul them up onto the tree den.
"I told you!" Blazey squeaked.
"Are you ok?" Dapple asked the short haired ginger and white she-cat.
"No! I got lost! Oh, also, Thank you!" She gasped and collapsed on the mossy floor, her fur soaked and her amber eyes drooping.
"I am Bengal, leader of the Sunshine Group. Who are you and how did you get lost?" The spotted she-cat leaped down from her nest and put her tail tip on the new cat's shoulder.
"I'm Gingersnow, the Medicine Cat of Shineclan." Gingersnow said through long breaths.
"Medicine Cat?" Dapple echoed.
"Shineclan?" Peak echoed.
"My group of cats... theres two more clans that are traveling with us, but I got lost looking for herbs. I heal cats." She explained.
"You can heal cats! That's so cool!" Rey said, running in circles around Gingersnow.
"Yes I know... but can you please, please," Gingersnow started, "help me find my way back home?"
