Bowser started running towards us, and Waluigi, out of reflex, created a barrier around us, made out of thick purple thorns. 

''What do we do?!'' He asked as Bowser tried to get inside by using his claws. The whole audience was panicked and yelled and screamed in horror and anger.

''I have enough magic to create a small portal to the garage, tell Shawn to go there immediately!'' I said.

''I think he heard you anyway.'' Waluigi said and pointed at the small microphone attached to his shirt. 

I opened up a portal right under us and we fell into the garage with a loud thud. We ran out the back door, following us was a very panicked Shawn. We headed for the exit and by now Bowser had noticed that we weren't inside the thorns anymore. He sent every guard after us, and all of the Koopalings as well. We got outside the stadium and tried to look for a way we could get away fast. Waluigi ran to one of the cars parked outside, it was one of those with a roof that you could make go away so it would be roofless. But, whoever owned that car had not put the roof up, so Waluigi could get into it pretty easily. 

''Get in!'' He quickly said. Shawn and I hastily got inside of it and then Waluigi started to do something to the car, I couldn't really see what, but it worked and made the car start up. As soon as the engine was up and running he quickly drove away.

''Did... did you just hijack a car?!'' I asked panicked.

''My criminal senses of escaping must've awakened.'' He said. ''What the hell were you thinking?! You didn't need to interrupt the race! I had everything under control!''

''Under control?! Bowser broke your arm and scratched your whole face up! That's not ''having everything under control''! You were hurting and my instincts told me to help!'' I yelled.

''You only made things worse!'' He shouted.

''As if leaving you to die would make things better!'' I shouted back.

''Guys! Calm down!'' Shawn interrupted us. ''I think we can all just agree that... it was Bowser's fault.''

''Yup.'' We both said in unison. ''Definitely Bowser's fault.''

''We can fight about this later, what do we do now?'' I asked worriedly.

''Well, we can't go home, that's for sure!'' Waluigi said. Bowser knows where I live and it's going to be guards everywhere over there. We'll just go there now quickly to get Polari, then we cannot return again.''

''So... now all three of us are homeless? We're hobo-bros?'' Shawn asked.

''Not the appropriate time, Shawn.'' Waluigi sighed annoyed.

We stopped by Waluigi's apartment and quickly picked up Polari. He was more than confused when we came there in a hurry to get him. Then we continued driving through Mushroom city without stopping. The police were looking everywhere for us and wherever we went we could hear police sirens. We decided that it was best to leave the city and head for Diamond City where Wario would maybe help us.

On the way to Diamond City, I tried to heal Waluigi as much as possible while not distracting him from driving. I managed to heal the bloody scratches on his face but his broken arm and foot were harder to do. It took a much longer time and doing it in a car when everything was moving only made it more difficult. After an hour it finally healed completely and Waluigi's body was as good as new again... kind of.

''Thanks for healing me, Rosie.'' He said and smiled softly. ''It was a hellish pain to escape the stadium and hijacking a car with a broken arm and foot.''

''I'm sorry for screwing everything up tonight...''

''Well, what's done is done. But I can say that if I were in your shoes I would've done the same thing.''

''So... you're saying you forgive me?'' I asked unsurely.

''Kind of. I would do the same for you, but I'm still mad that you did it.''

''And how long will you be mad at me this time?'' I asked sarcastically.

''I don't know!'' He replied annoyed. ''I just lost my home and my freedom...''

I looked back and saw that Shawn and Polari had somehow fallen asleep in the backseat, I felt a little dozy myself but didn't want to fall asleep in case if something would happen. And Diamond City wasn't that far away so even if I did fall asleep it wouldn't be for long.

''Is it really wise to trust Wario?'' I asked, trying to change the subject.

''No. You can't trust him at all. But he has helped me before in similar situations. And he's the only one I know that could help us right now.''

''We could also try to seek out the resistance.''

''If only we knew where their base actually was.'' Waluigi grumbled.

''Well, since the tournament was broadcasted on television I would guess that they saw my reveal. And I think that having me on their side is a must. So they're probably looking for us right now.''

''We can just keep an extra eye on our surroundings then. If we see any yoshis they're probably the ones looking for us.''

The car trip felt like it took forever until we reached Diamond City. But finally, we were at our destination. The city bathed in neon lights and the sound of traffic, several buildings towered over us like mountains and everything was just so pretty to look at. This city had gotten a nickname, ''city of joy'', because of all the casinos and bars in this place.
Since Bowser took over, the kingdom's residents became more and more depressed. Several people, including Wario, saw this as an opportunity to get rich by starting their own casinos. They would lie to people that they could get rich and live a happy life. But in reality, people only lose all their life-savings in hope that they will become happy again if they win.

Wario is a greedy man, no doubt about it. But I sometimes think that what he does goes a little too far. Giving people false hope in exchange for all their money is just wrong.

''Is Wario even going to be home right now?'' I asked.

''Yeah, he usually wants to leave the tournaments as soon as they're finished. His greediness doesn't let him leave his casino for too long.'' Waluigi explained.

''Of course.'' I sighed. ''I can understand why you stopped living together with him.''

''Well... that wasn't the only reason...'' He said and tightened his grip on the steering wheel. I could feel his aura slightly trembling in distress. I put my hand on his shoulder. ''Hey,'' I said and smiled. ''Deep down he loves you. Because you are his brother.''

''That's not it... And I'm not his brother,'' Waluigi mumbled and tightened his jaw.

''Oh, let it go, Walu,'' I said. ''Maybe you're not his biological brother but you still are his brother by heart.''

''How's that possible when he doesn't even have a heart?''

''He does. Could a man without a heart have a girlfriend?''

''He doesn't care about her... she's only a trophy for him...'' He explained with a slightly sad voice.

''That's ridiculous!'' I said and rolled my eyes.

''You don't believe me? I lived together with them for some time. All Wario did was to order her around like she was his servant.'' He looked down for a second, I could see the sadness in his eyes. ''She isn't treated like a person, more like a slave... Wario doesn't even let her socialize with other men outside of his presence anymore... not even me.''

''That... does sound horrible,'' I said.

Waluigi nodded. ''I don't want her to have that kind of life.''

''You really care about Mona, don't you?'' I asked and put my hand on his shoulder.

''She was the only girl that wanted to be my friend before I met you.'' He explained. ''She's a very sweet girl. But she doesn't know what's best for her and keeps running after Wario all the time because he's rich. She's like a puppy.''

''Maybe she will open her eyes someday and realize that he isn't the one for her?''

''I goddamn hope so,'' Waluigi mumbled.

We stopped outside a giant building with a giant neon sign on it. ''Mr. W's Casino! The biggest casino in Diamond City!'' It said.

''Let's go.'' Waluigi said and woke Shawn and Polari up. ''Hey, we're here. Time to wake up and get moving.''
