(Rewrite) part 14: Sarasaland

Nobody did anything, the only thing I could hear was Shawn sobbing, and it only made me angrier. I walked forwards, the spear guys tried to stop me, but as they came close they suddenly just fainted. I noticed that the ground went dark purple wherever I went, just as it did in Wario's office, and that was the thing causing the spear guys to faint whenever they stepped on it. I could feel their energy leaving them and giving me more strength. The spear guys didn't stop trying to attack me, but it was all in vain. Soon all of them were knocked out, except the leader, Shawn and the two spear guys holding him.

''Release him,'' I demanded.

The two spear guys immediately released Shawn from their grip, Shawn dropped down on the floor and curled into a ball as he sobbed. I looked at the leader, who seemed angry that they released Shawn. He tried to throw a spear at me, but his throw was weak and wobbly and barely managed to hit me. I could tell that he was afraid of me.

''Shawn, what do you say when you want them to know that they're dead to me?'' I calmly asked.

''You *sob* imitate *sob* a chain chomp.'' He answered.

I started barking at the leader. He took a step back. I walked closer and he started running away. I quickly ran after him and eventually managed to drain his energy with my magic. He fell to the ground and I walked back to where Shawn was. I saw his mask lying on the ground a bit away from him and I quickly went to go and get it. When I gave him the mask he trembled so much, it took a minute for him to put the mask on again. And when it finally clicked he breathed heavily. I patted him on the back for a few minutes and tried to calm him down. He was crying, and I could completely understand why.

''It's alright, Shawn,'' I said in a soft voice. He crawled onto my lap like a cat and continued to cry for a minute. Poor Shawn.

''I should've gone here alone,'' I said.

''No, I wouldn't have let you go alone here.'' He sobbed.

I put my hand on his head. ''You're so brave.''

He let out a tearful but happy chuckle. ''If I wasn't, I wouldn't even be here today.''

I offered to carry him through the rest of the ruins. He wasn't very heavy so it wouldn't be much of a problem. But he assured me that he could walk himself.

We went through the ruins many paths that were lit up with torches on the walls, and finally, I could see a light coming from an exit passage. We ran the last bit until we were out again. And I suddenly realized...

We were finally in Sarasaland!

You could tell that we were there by the more tropical plants and the warm air.

''We did it. We're actually outside the Mushroom Kingdom!'' Shawn cheered.

''I can't believe it...'' I said in relief as I took a deep breath of the air filled with several aromas of several different flowers. I hadn't felt so free in forever.

''So... which way is it to Daisy's castle?'' Shawn asked.

''I don't know. We have to find someone to ask.'' I said. ''But I doubt there is anyone close to these ruins. We may have to walk for a while.''

We headed off into the unknown world of Sarasaland. The land was mostly covered in deserts, but some places had tropical forests and even giant fields of flowers, bigger than the eye could see. It really was a very beautiful kingdom, the only problem I had with it was the warm weather, I don't really like when it's too warm or cold.

Shawn and I started walking. We were pretty high up so maybe we would see a town or city from the mountain view, but first, we had to go down low enough so we were under the clouds again, otherwise, we wouldn't see a thing.

Hours of walking. Hours! And not a single sign of civilization! And now we were walking in the middle of a desert. The night was soon going to turn into morning and when it did we would be screwed, we didn't have any water or food! We needed to find someone, anybody that could help us, otherwise, our future wouldn't be very bright. We just survived a tribe of spear guys, I wouldn't appreciate if we were close to death a second time.

''God, I'm tired.'' Shawn sighed.

''Me too,'' I added.

''Sarasaland is so big! I didn't think the first thing we would run into would be a giant desert!''

''I can't see anything but sand for miles,'' I complained. ''This is bad.''

''I'm thirsty,'' Shawn said and suddenly flopped down, face first, into the sand. ''I can't do this. shy guys aren't made for walking such long distances.''

I grabbed his arm and pulled him up into the air to get his face to my level. ''Come on, Shawn,'' I said while showing him a reassuring smile. ''I'm sure we'll find someone any minute now.''

He stared at me with a disapproving look as I put him down. ''Yeah, a magical talking cactus will soon show us the way.'' He sarcastically commented.

After that, as if on cue, the ground started shaking, and out of the sand came several pokeys.

''Well, there's your cactuses. But they don't talk, what a shame.'' I laughed as Shawn sighed tiredly.

The pokeys were investigating us, staring at us to see if we were something interesting to bother with. I patted one of them on the head when it was close enough and as soon as I did, it backed away. The flower on its head twitched a few times until the pokey sneezed, it was so cute that it made me chuckle.

''Can you three maybe take us to Daisy? Dai-sy?'' I asked. They looked at me while smiling dumbly. I don't think they understood. ''Okay, maybe some water?''

They looked at each other and then went down into the sand again.

''Did they get offended or something?'' Shawn asked.

Then, I could feel the rumble again, and suddenly one of the pokeys appeared right under me and made me sit right on top of its soft head-flower as it only got longer and longer until its whole body was out of the ground. Another pokey had done the same to Shawn and we were now riding the pokeys. It felt like I was going to lose my balance any minute but the pokey made sure that I didn't fall down by swaying to the opposite side of which I was leaning.

''Wow, this is awesome!'' Shawn exclaimed excitedly. ''I never knew you could ride pokeys!''

''Me neither!'' I said.

The pokeys started sliding forwards. I always wondered how they move when all their body parts are just spiky balls. But they could move quickly if they wanted to, and soon we were on our way to god-knows-where.
