Chapter 1: Look out, mama!
I was sitting on my bed, calm and relaxed, while reading one of the books from the library. The observatory was travelling towards earth in a steady pace. I had recently heard several cries coming from earth, they didn't sound good at all and I decided to go and see what was wrong. Surely Mario would fix it but... theese cries had been active for months. Something was wrong.
''Mama?'' A little Luma said from the entrance to the bedroom. I closed my book and looked at him. ''Yes?''
''We are at our destination in an hour, I'm just letting you know.'' He said.
I stood up and walked towards him. ''Thank you for letting me know.'' I said and picked him up. ''We're not going to be there for long, maybe just a week or so.''
The little Luma smiled. ''You can stay as long as you like, no worries.''
We went out of the bedroom and suddenly, out of nowhere, Polari appeared next to me. ''Rosalina!'' He shouted while pulling my arm.
''What is it, dear Polari?'' I asked him as I pet his head.
''Rosalina, can you feel that? That weird feeling coming from earth?''
I concentrated and closed my eyes. Yes, there was indeed a very strange feeling coming from earth. But I couldn't really make out what it exactly was. ''I feel it, Polari. We'll be a little careful.''
I stared at the earth while it became bigger and bigger every minute. We were really close to it and I still felt that feeling in the back of my neck. Other Lumas started to become worried. I tried to calm them down and turned around to look at them. ''Lumas, there is nothing to worry about. I'm here to protect you if something bad happens. And maybe it's just-''
''Mama, what's that?!'' A Luma yelled. I turned around and saw a red Luma pointing at a very strange purple glowing dot on the planet. I tried to see what it was but I had no idea. It became bigger and bigger and that weird feeling became stronger and stronger. Then after a few seconds I saw what it was. A ray, coming right towards the observatory. I pulled out my wand quickly and pointed it at the ray. I casted a spell that I thought would stop it but... it didn't work.
I tried again.
No...?
I tried again.
No.
I tried a third time, giving everything I got.
No! I couldn't stop it! I turned to a very stressed Polari and looked worriedly at him. ''Polari, I can't stop it.'' I said.
''Now, now, don't become all worked up. I'm sure it's just... oh no!''
''What?'' I asked him as he stared behind me.
''Mama, look out!'' All the Lumas yelled and pushed me to the side. The purple ray hit the observatory right where I stood a second ago and proceeded to destroy everything in it's way. I looked at the damage it had caused and gasped at the gaping hole that went right through the observatory. I heard all of my Lumas cry in fear, Polari was next to me and was really worked up. ''Rosalina! The observatory... it's loosing power!''
''Did the core comet get hit?'' I asked and stood up.
''A small bit, but it was enough to drain most of its energy, it can't carry us! We're going down!''
I felt a rumble under my feet, Polari was right. The observatory was falling towards earth, and fast! Polari held tight onto my arm while I tried to get the observatory to stop. But my powers weren't enough, I embraced Polari and wished for us all to survive.
And then we hit the ground.
I woke up, coughing, there was dust flying around everywhere. I couldn't see very well but I felt that Polari was still in my arms. He woke up as well and immediately floated upwards. ''Where are we?! Are you alright princess?! Why is it so dark all of a sudden?!''
''Calm down, Polari. We're on earth, I'm fine and it's night.'' I answered calmly while getting up on my feet. Now my vision was better adjusted to the darkness and all I could see was grass and the observatory all around me. ''Hello?'' I asked. ''Lumas? Are any of you there?''
''Here, mama!'' a small voice said. I followed it and found a bunch of Lumas crawling out of small places. ''We're okay!''
''Oh, thank god.'' I said and hugged them all. ''I was worried there for a second.''
''Mama, the observatory's core is still intact. With your magic we can get it to work again.'' The Lumas said and cheered. I smiled. ''Yes, but I need my wand first.''
The Lumas started to look around for my want, Polari and me as well. Soon a red Luma started to shout. ''I found it!''
We all hurried over to him, and when we saw him he looked sad. ''What is it?'' I asked.
''Your wand...'' He said and moved to the side to reveal my wand lying on the ground broken. The star on the top was crushed and the handle was in three parts. I gasped, suddenly feeling a great deal of magic leaving me.
All the Lumas looked at me with sad eyes. ''Can't we fix it?'' I stared at my wand. ''Maybe, but it would be hard.''
''Hey, I think we got it!'' A voice suddenly yelled in the distance. ''Is it the thing? Have we finally found it?''
I looked back and saw lights coming our way. ''Mama, you need to leave!'' The Lumas said and tried to drag me away from the observatory. ''But what about all of you?'' I asked and tried to get them to stop. ''We'll be fine, but you need to get safe somewhere. Find Mario, he'll help!''
Polari and I agreed to run away, even if I felt a big sorrow leaving all the Lumas behind. We ran as far as we could until we could barely see the observatory anymore. I noticed a city not far from where we were. We went closer to it, there was a lot of noise coming from there. Typical city noise, how could anyone live with that?
''Maybe Mario is there?'' Polari asked.
''I really hope so.''
Okay, so I'm going to end the first chapter there. Wow, this really shows how much of a noob I am involving rosalina. *nervous laughter*
This chapter may be pretty short and boring to you. Where's all the action? Don't worry, it's coming. Oooh, it's coming. I have many plans for this fanfiction and I'm not letting it slip out of my hands!
Until then, have a wonderful day!
