Con-man Robert Wolf is an expert on reading people.

Especially miss Vienna Lace.

"Where've you been?" Wolf strictly asks as soon as Vienna walks into the dinner and sits down across from him at the booth. "Last time I checked, we were supposed to meet at three, not three forty five."

He taps his watch with his pointer finger.

"I was caught up in.. Well, things." She says, nervously pulling out a cigarette and sticking it in her mouth.

"I ordered this for you." Wolf says as he nudges a plate of cheesy fries towards her. She crinkles her face at the smell.

Vienna is too nervous to eat.

"You are different, Vienna." The big man says as he folds his tattooed arms. "Why is that?"

Vienna doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

She pauses before lighting her cigarette. "What do you mean?"

"I mean is there anything you want to talk about?" He asks.

"No." She looks away from him and takes a drag.

"Where have you been staying, Vienna?" He asks suspiciously.

"I got a place." She assures him.

"Alone?"

"With a friend." She says in a panic.

"You wouldn't be staying with.." Wolf leans in so close to her that Vienna can feel his breath on her neck. "With Dexter Lewis, would you?"

She sits there silently, too scared to say anything.

"God damn it, Vienna!" He yells, throwing his hands down I the table in a fit. This captures several people's attention and makes Vienna jump in her seat.

"I told you I was paying his rent," she says, her cigarette shaking between her fingers. "Thought you already knew I was staying with him."

"So he's your friend now?" Wolf asks in an angry voice. "Is that what you think of him?"

"No." She lies. Wolf can sense that she hasn't been telling the truth.

"He's a client." Wolf reminds her. "You can never be friends with a client."

"He is not my friend." She tells him, even though she's not exactly sure if this is true. "He's nothing to me."

"Good." Wolf says, as he smiles and leans back in his seat. "And what do we want from him?"

Vienna gulps.

"Money."

Wolf is impressed. "That's my girl."
