"No!"

Vienna Lace isn't a fan of crowds.

"Please?" Dexter begs.

"Absolutely not." She insists.

"Oh come on, Vi. They're already inside waiting for us." He says like a child.

"How many times have I told you not to call me that?" The girl hisses at him.

"I'm sorry."

"When you said we were going to get a drink, you didn't say your friends were going to be there." She tells him.

"Well of course. Then you wouldn't have came." He smiles.

She knows he's right.

Dexter wraps an arm around her waist and leads her into the loud, smoke filled bar. This is the first time Vienna lets him win an argument, and let him keep his arm around her.

Dexter will remember that.

"What's next, meeting your folks too?" She hisses as they make their way over to a table of three, who were currently waving their arms at Dexter.

"Shh. Come on." He says, pulling her by the arm.

The fact that she also lets him shush her is another win for Dexter.

The three stooges, well, at least that's what Vienna called them, sat at the table with drinks in their hands, waiting for Dexter to speak.

"Vi, this is Colin, Jess, and Marty," he starts. Vienna wants to scream at him for calling her "Vi," but she lets it's slide.

"And this is Vienna." Dexter finishes.

"Vienna Lace." She adds.

They nod and say some words, but Vienna isn't listening. She's eager to order her drink and wait for the night to be over.

But in the mean time, she gets a look at the people Dexter calls "friends."

I guess the only guy sitting there must be the one he called Colin. He was tall. He dressed nice. He was blonde. He was everything Dexter wasn't, which made Vienna wonder how they were possibly friends.

Marty, the Curley haired blonde sat next to him, sipping her dirty margarita and laughing at something Vienna wasn't paying any attention to. Marty looked like the type of person who spends her extra time in strip clubs trying to pay for a college that she would never be cut out for.

And then there was Jess, the innocent little tomboy looking girl who just sat there sipping her root beer. She wore her short brown hair in pig tails and her face was clear if any makeup. She was what you'd call pure.

Jess was the only one who really acknowledged that Vienna was sitting there.

Maybe because she couldn't help thinking that there was something off about her.

"So Vi," Jess starts. "Where you from?"

Vienna ignores the annoying nickname and gives her a mumbled "Rhode Island."

"Oh really?" Jess asks, skeptically. She decides to test her. "What part of Rhode Island?"

"Lincoln." Vienna says as she picks up a drink from the table and takes a sip. Dexter turned his head.

"Vi, that ones mine."

Vienna lace didn't listen.

"Oh?" Jess says. "Spent some time in North Providence myself."

"Interesting." Vienna says, as if she is actually interested.

Jess gives her an awkward smile.

"Excuse me," Vienna says as she gets upfront the table, adjusting her dress as she does so.

Jess sips her root beer as she cautiously watches Vienna make her way to the bathroom at the back of the bar.

She knows there is something about the girl that just isn't right.
