Chapter 31

I found myself lying in bed, thinking about things -- life and that's not a good thing. You see, I have a tendency of over thinking things which is why I'm always staying up late when I'm trying to get some sleep.

Sighing, I sat up in bed, rubbing my eyes fiercely, trying to calm myself down before I go insane.

It's almost seven o'clock in the night, which doesn't really seem like it since the sky is in light shades of blue and purple. I'm exhausted yet sleep won't overcome me and I have no idea why?

Robert went out grocery shopping and said he'll bring back some pizza so he won't be back until later on. I'm stuck here swimming in my thoughts. That's not a good combination. Niall in the other hand, is also grounded but since Robert isn't here he just decides to rome around the house without a care in the world. I rather stay in my room. As long as he doesn't bother me, I'm fine.

Pulling the blanket off from around my body, I shifted around so that my feet hung from the side of the bed. Looking around, I tried to find something that could take my mind off of things, but there was no luck.

Robert took away everything. My TV, my laptop, iPod, and my phone. Yes, they took that all away just an hour after I snuck back everything to the house which by the way, I ended up doing safely. If only I was so lucky the first time.

So now I'm stuck here, at home, bored out of my mind, doing absolutely nothing and thinking about everything.

I already took a shower. It was the first thing I did when I got back. So, that excludes taking a shower to take my mind out of stuff. I don't know why but it works. I mean, I could take another one but I already washed my hair and I was pretty comfortable in the shorts and t-shirt I was in.

Why does my life have to be so boring?

"Leah!" The annoying voice that belonged to my brother screamed out.

"What!" I spat. I was not in the mood for him.

"Ivy's here!" He shouted back.

I immediately rose up to my feet, springing out the door and down the stairs where indeed, Ivy was standing.

"Ivy!" I shouted, running over to her and pulling her into a tight hug.

Ivy was the perfect distraction away from thoughts of Harry.

She giggled, hugging me back. "Hey, Leah." She pulled away.

"What are you doing here?" I asked then remembered she didn't know I was grounded.

"Why? I can't visit my friend?" She gave me a surprised look while playfully smirking, showing me she was just joking.

I laughed. "No, of course you can. It's just... Never mind." I shook my head.

She gave me a weird look. "O--kay?" She laughed before I gave her permission to walk in the house. I walked us over to the living room where Niall sat playing video games.

"Aren't you suppose to be grounded?" I spat while walking in behind the sofa he was on.

"So." He shrugged his shoulders, not moving his vision from the TV.

"I'm pretty sure that means you can't be playing video games."

"I'm pretty sure that also means you can't have friends over.." He paused to look back at Ivy. "No offense, blondie."

Ivy looked back at me with wide eyes. "Grounded?"

I looked back at Niall after I quickly glanced at her.

"Can you just leave? Ivy and I have to talk." I begged of him, praying he'll understand and just follow along.

He rolled his eyes before pausing the game the game and walking up the stairs and into his room.

I turned towards Ivy with a satisfied grin. "There we go."

"Actually, I think this is a good idea. We can talk on the phone or something?" She smiled in a nervous way.

"No please, Robert took away all my stuff. Now's the only time we can talk." I explained, begging her to stay.

She looked around, double checking before saying her decision. "Fine." She sighed, moving over to take a seat in the sofa. I followed.

"Leah.." She continued, looking down at her hands before looking back up. "Where did you go to after the party last night? You like, disappeared!"

"What?" I pretended, hoping it'll buy me some more time to come up with an excuse. There was no way I was going to tell her the real thing about witnessing murder and then having Harry take me home.

"Last night? Where did you go? You said you'd be back and that if in 30 minutes you weren't back to call the police?"

My eyes widened in shock. Crap! I completely forgot I told her that!

"Did you?" I asked. "You know? Call them?"

She nodded her head. "Yes? I mean, isn't that what you told me to do?"

Oh no, this can't be happening! I promised Harry I wouldn't tell anyone, and now the cops got involved! How is he going to react? I'm going to die, there I said it. This time, for real!

"What did you tell them?" I asked nervously.

"Well, I started explaining that my friend went out and never came back so they asked for the address and then my phone lost signal.." She continued.

A flush of relief ran through me. "And?"

"Turns out every phone can be tracked, with or without signal, so they came just to check if everything was okay. Instead, they found out about the party and how crazy it was getting so they ordered us to shut it down and go home." She explained.

Oh Lord, Jesus was on my side that night.

"Oh." I tried to sound worried but I was really happy on the inside.

"Yeah." She skipped right to the point. "So.. Where were you?"

"I-- Well, I left?" I let out.

"Yeah? Where?" She furrowed her eyebrows.

"Home." I answered. "It was getting late and I couldn't find Niall anywhere so I just walked back home." I mindlessly shrugged my shoulders.

I hated lying to her (or to anyone) for that matter. But this had a good reason behind it and was totally worth lying about.

"Sorry." She gave me a meaningful look. "So where was your brother?"

"Here." I lied. He was actually getting rid of a body. Most girls would brag about their older brothers, especially if they're like Niall who in my offence isn't that bad looking. But no.. I'm one of those very few girls who get to say their brother is part of a murder group.

"Oh God, that must suck." She chuckled.

"Yup." I sighed. "You have no idea."

"Leah?" A deep voice entered behind us.

My eyes widened at the figure standing tall with a wide eyed look locked on me.

"What is this?" Robert asked looking down at Ivy.

"Oh um.." I uttered.

"I was just leaving, Mr. Horan." She smiled, packing her things and standing up. "Sorry to interrupt."

He looked as she waved bye at me and walked past him, existing out the door in a hurry.

"What was all that about?" He asked. "Don't you know you're grounded, young lady?"

"How can I forget?" I sighed, I was caught yet once more. "I'm sorry."

"Where's your brother?" He questioned.

I shrugged my shoulders. "In his room I guess?"

He shook his head, sighing in disappointment. "You see? Why couldn't you be more like him?"

Oh really? Now is one of those times I really want to say what he's done. But my life is really precious last time I checked and I'll like to keep it for as long as possible.

"I don't want anymore surprise guest, Leah. I mean it. Next time, I'll add another week to your punishment." He stated.

Jesus. Why does he have to be so hard on us? On me!?

"Fine." I mentally rolled by eyes, standing up from the sofa and walking past him. Being alone in my room sounded a lot better at the moment. Away from everything.

Making my way up the stairs, I opened the door to my room and shut it closed behind me. Throwing myself to bed, I got under the sheets and let out a frustrating scream into my pillow. That made things feel a little better.

Before I knew it, sleep finally took over me and my eyes drifted to a close.

***

Thump.

I shifted in bed, turning on my side tiredly.

Thump.

Groaning, I tried my best to block out the noise.

Thump.

What in the world.. ?

Turning around, I looked at the clock that was by my nightstand and read 9:45 p.m.

Crash, bump, thump.

"Shit." I heard someone mutter to themselves in anger.

I say up on my bed once I realized the noise was coming from inside my room.

"Niall?" I called out quietly.

No answer.

"Robert?"

No answer again.

I now shifted upwards, dropping my feet to the ground, my heart accelerating with each step I took. "Hello?"

Walking over to where I heard the sound come from, I felt my stomach drop as the sight of my window being opened. I had it closed when I went to sleep.

"Who's there?" I called out again.

Turning around, I rammed into something, or should I say someone.

I opened my mouth, ready to stream the brains out when a hand clasped over my mouth. I began to freak out, trying to pry the hands off my mouth.

"Will you calm down? It's just me." I heard someone hiss.

Someone who sounded fairly familiar. Calming down enough for the person to take their hand away from my mouth, I turned to see Harry standing before me.

"What the hell!" I hissed quietly, remembering Niall is right down the hall and Robert is downstairs.

"Will you stop being so loud? You're giving me a migraine."

I was just about to retaliate to his dumb question and statement when the lights from outside radiated off his body. A small blob oozed from his shirt, it seemed too be like he spilled something on himself but this liquid was different, darker too.

It was blood.
