Chapter 19

"And here we have our last spot in the tour, the main campus!" The tour guide exclaimed cheerfully as she walked us outside.

I was crazy about this place, Colorado State University. I'm so happy I applied, it's by far the best school I've seen here and the least dangerous too. I have to get in. Forget the other choices, this is the school I want to go to. It was big, modern too. The main campus was filled with trees and tables to sit on. It brought a nice feeling of some sort of nature park. Lunch well be perfect here. I also saw the dorms, big enough for two and they all had an amazing view of the main campus. Some could even look into downtown where all the city lights could be seen. I want this so bad, and the tour guide made it even harder to resist.

"Here is where our students hang out, talk with their peers, set up tables so others can be interested in their clubs and activities..." She stopped, pointing behind us to reveal a big stage, built a little below ground to give more space inside for bleachers. "And that, is where we have some bands come to play on special nights. The students and staff love the energy we get here and it's always a different band."

She really isn't making my decision difficult?

The lady became silent again as she looked back at us, curious to see someone raise their hand in our little group.

"Yes? Sir?" She asked pointing to a certain someone behind me.

I turned around, smiling as I noticed it was only Louis.

"So are there any rules here about guys and girls sleeping in the same dorm?" He asked. Him and his jokes. "Because you see, I kinda need to know this... information?"

I turned back to the lady who was already rolling her eyes at what he said.

"This is actually something all of you young men and women need to know. There are no visits after 9. That means no boys in the girl's dorm and no girls in the boy's dorm."

Louis sighed, "Oh come on, I thought we'll be more free in college?"

"If freedom is what you're looking for than I suggest you rent your own house or not come to college at all." She snapped, "This is not going to be anywhere near what you see like in movies."

Mr. Wiser, who I forgot was still even here, stepped in next to the tour guide. "You heard it, students. College is not like a movie, nonetheless a book. So open your eyes and see reality before you get yourself in something you're not ready for."

I started pondering over his words. It's not a movie or a book for sure. At least from my perspective. How come in all those stories, the new girl finds love and finds herself living in a wonderful life? My life is nothing compared to that, it's much less the opposite. For God sakes, I only made two friends, Liam and Ivy. The rest are just acquaintances like Zayn, Louis, and Scott. Mike doesn't talk and Harry's just a mystery. I really couldn't sum it up much.

"Alright students of Springfield High, this concludes our tour. Please be welcome by CSU to explore around freely until departure." The tour guide smiled.

Immediately, everyone walked away, finding a way to get with their friends. I walked away. Soon becoming shocked when a cheerful voice stepped in my direction.

"I can't believe you were leaving without me!" Ivy joked as she finished her soft laugh.

"Sorry, I just really wanted to get a better look at the staging area." I smiled, leading us towards it.

"Seems like everyone's pretty interested in that." She nodded.

The day couldn't feel better. Beneath these trees, it provided us with a warm welcoming feeling as well as some shade. I was never that excited about college or university, but now, I want senior year to end already! The stage was probably the best part of the school. Just knowing the feeling that the entire campus is going to be out here, actually talking and listening to some good music instead of being on the internet in bed all alone, makes me feel happy.

"So.. Are you thinking of coming here?" She asked.

I nodded my head without hesitation, "If I get accepted." I turned to Ivy, "How about you?"

"Same." She smiled, nodding her head but slowly losing her smile.

Something was up.

"Ivy, are you--"

"I have to tell you something...?" She interrupted, stopping from continuing on going to our destination.

I studied her face, stopping along with her, trying to find out what it was but found myself failing as I couldn't. "Yes, of course, what's wrong?"

I didn't know what was going on, or  even what could be? Her blue eyes looked down, curiously looking back up to only land over my shoulder. I can tell she mentally felt relieved towards the sight.

"Hi, ladies." A voice similar to Zayn's came approaching behind me.

I tried turning around but he was already standing between Ivy and I, continuously glancing from both of us.

"Oh, I'm sorry, was I interrupting something?" He asked a bit serious.

I was about to tell him yes and if he could come back another time because it seemed what Ivy had to say was really important, but Ivy's expression quickly changed.

"No!" She smiled, "Actually, Zayn, why don't you stay here and talk to Leah? I have something to ask Mr.um... Wiser?"

She smiled, leaving both of us completely speechless before jogging away. What on Earth in happening?

"Uh... Okay?" He started to chuckle, bringing my thoughts back to reality.

"Sorry, I don't know what's wrong with her?" I tried to smile which only made Zayn smile even brighter.

He was a nice guy, Zayn, attractive too. I find it cute the way he smiles and if I'm not mistaken, gets nervous too.

"That's okay." His words got a bit shaky. "So um.. Seems like a really nice school?"

"Yeah." I smiled nodding my head, "Are you thinking of coming?"

"I'm already in the academy one." He shrugged his shoulders as if it was no big deal. It's still good, he got accepted to something.

"Wow, that's so good, congratulations." I chuckled, "I never knew you even thinking about studying after high school?"

Sometimes, I question the stuff that comes out of my mouth. I barely even know him and I'm already giving my opinion on him and his future?

"It's for the best." He nodded.

"Wait," I paused, "If you're already in a school, then what are you doing on the tour?"

He shrugged his shoulders, "I'm a student aid and I missed yesterday as well as half of the semester so I had to come or Mr. Wiser would fuck up my grade."

I looked at him with wide eyes. There was no need for him to get all profanity on me, I didn't mean to get him there. Being raised with my mother, she never let us use it or be with people who say it. Then again, who am I to judge? I'm not with my mother anymore.

"But you see," He continued, looking at me with a stern and more serious look on his face, "There's something I wanted to know. It's about you and Harry?"

My eyes gave him a shocked look as he finished. What could he possibly want to know about him and I? Better yet, why does he? I hate Harry, but Zayn's his friend and I don't think I can say that to his face, if that's what he's looking for? My point being, there's nothing he needs to know about us.

"Has he been bothering you lately?" He asked, "I can tell by the way you got in my car this morning that something's up between you two?"

I didn't like the idea of him continuing to jump into my life. He's already in it basically 24/7 with school and his job in Robert's house which I'm also staying in. So why does he need more exclusives?

"Nothing's wrong." I didn't show much emotion, "I was just tired, that's all."

I mentally begged that he'll believe my stupid lie and go on with his life. Why is it that this stuff has to happen to me?

Zayn studied my face, choosing to believe me with a long sigh. Relief instantly washed down my body.

"You're right, sorry." He looked down, "I didn't think of that."

"It's okay." I smiled shrugging my shoulders do he knows it didn't matter.

"Do you still want to look around?" I asked.

I was surprised by his answer when he shook his head no. Bringing his eyes back up to look at me, he smiled. "Sorry, I um.. have to go do something?"

Just like he chose to believe my lie, I chose to believe his. Nodding my head in agreement, I smiled. "That's okay, have fun."

"Catch you later." He smiled patting my shoulder and slowly walking right past me.

I rolled my eyes once he left, making my smile disappear back into a frown as I turned back to see him go. Curious to know where he was going to go to.

As I saw him walk, back turned to me, I noticed something rather a bit peculiar from the scene in front of him. A mop of dark curls soon appeared out of a crowd of people Zayn was walking over to. His face was stiff, as always, green eyes never looking greener. I grew more cautious as he then started to walk this way.

He wore a white t-shirt beneath a brown coat, two silver chains with pendants hung from around his neck. His black pants linked perfectly around his waist, not a bagging to spare. And finally, brown boots that I never got tired of seeing him wear them. As always, he looked attractive, but then I remembered how he is.

Harry glanced a look at Zayn as they walked past each other in far distance, quickly passing by to dart back over to me.

My eyes widened, swiftly turning my body back around as the grip on my bag over my shoulders tightened. Feet started to make a run for it. Well, almost like a speed walk towards the crowd of people by the stage, slowly noticing Niall start to laugh.

He was my only option now, better than having Harry say a few mean words to me. I found it hard to walk faster, thinking it'll cause a scene and then things will get more tied up than they already are. So I continued speed walking down the small hill, making things easier to run to. I looked down at my now racing feet, jolting my head back up but only to gasp as I felt myself crash into something hard. Nonetheless, someone.

Dark green eyes layered by dark and long lashes grew smaller as Harry looked down at me with a killer's look on his face.

I back away quickly, catching the gasp of air I lost when I hit his body.

"What do you want?" I asked, trying hard to keep my voice down and myself calm.

"What, I don't get an I'm sorry  for crashing into me?" He smirked, almost chuckling.

I pinned my eyes at him, finding his humor not so humorous. "Stop it with the jokes. What do you want from me?"

Remembering last time, here was just straight up rude. So why not just get on with it? I'm never wasting another second on trying to be nice to him.

"Feisty, huh?" He joked again, "I like that."

I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms over my stomach in compliment. "Listen, I don't know what's your problem but you need to stay away. I'm warning you--"

"Ooh!" He taunted, "I'm scared already."

"Harry--"

"Leah, you have to listen to me." He cut me off again, this time getting more serious, "You can't come here, at least not live here."

"And why is that?" I asked in annoyance.

Harry remained silent, trying not to risk saying something he's not suppose to. "Because you just can't."

"You know, I appreciate your concern but you don't own my life. Therefore, you can't control it. So just leave me out of whatever you're planning with your little gang and go back to whatever else you do!" The words rushed out of me like steam, later realizing what I had just said.

"What!" He exclaimed, getting angry with me. "Who told you anything about a gang?"

His emotion was clear it was true, but wasn't ment to be known. I thought Liam said everyone knew about it! I had to think of something, and quick, to save both of us.

"I was talking about the group of guys you work with along with Robert?"

"No you weren't." He grinned, soon sighing to them push me aside into the grass area and behind a tree.

My cautions heightened as he looked around for the coast to be clear. He was going to shoot me, right here. And this is all because I mentioned a gang? Heavens sake, I didn't even point out any detail.

"Look, I'm warning you, that's over. So never speak of it again, ever!" He demanded, leaning closer and making me take a few steps back towards the tree. "And as for the whole school thing, I'm done saving your rich ass. If you don't want to listen to me, then fine. Don't!"

His face was just inches away from mine, arm held up to keep me trapped between the tree and him. Hot breath fanning over my face in attempt to make a point in his statement. Point taken.

My hands raked the surface of the bark, finding no way possible to just grip it in effort to make me feel like I'm not going to die. I saw his eyes turn black. It scared me to think this wasn't over but then a small tint of green came back and he was relaxed. I didn't seem to find myself fighting anymore. It was he looked scared now.

His body was pushed off from mine, allowing me to stand back up from the tree stump. Harry blinked out, clearing his throat before walking back away from me.

"Don't say I didn't warn you." He warned with a grinning look on his face.

I remained standing aside the tree, replaying what just went on. As he left, all I could think about was him, of course.

"Leah!" I heard Niall call out as he ran towards me.

Harry was already gone by the time I turned back. And by the time Niall got to where I was, he wasn't the main thing on my mind.

"Hey, are you okay?" He asked, "I saw you coming but when I turned back around you were gone?"

I couldn't tell this to him. Just like with Zayn, Niall is also just getting to be friends with Harry and the other guys. I can't have him think differently now because of a mystery I don't even know about?

"I uh.. heard something." I nodded, "Thought I might check it out."

Niall nodded in acknowledgement, "Oh, what did you hear?"

Crap.

Think, Leah, think!

"Um.. Arctic Monkeys?" I saved myself again. I swear, I deserve something, I'm on a roll here!

"What the fuck is that?" He chuckled looking all confused.

"A band." I nodded, "Yeah, I heard them and thought they were coming to play on the stage down there but it turns out it was just their CD coming out of a speaker somewhere?"

"Oh, okay." He nodded, buying my lie.

"Well, I met a couple of frat boys back their and--"

"Oh no, don't tell me you joined!" I interrupted him, sighing at what a huge mistake he probably got himself into.

Niall laughed, scoffing at the sound of him joining their group. "What? No? They were just explaining to me how they throw some sick parties and they're going to have one the night the students move back in."

I shrugged my shoulders, "So?"

"So.. They invited us to come." He smiled.

"Us?" I asked again for the second time today.

He nodded his head, "I told them I had a sister and they said you can come too. It's a great way to get to meet new students here and get to know more about the town."

I felt bad, but I had to interrupt his little fantasy. How could he meet these people and they're already inviting him, correction, us to one of their psychotic parties?

"But, wait, we don't even know if we're coming to this school yet?"

Niall shrugged his shoulders, "Everyone's invited, if they come here or not."

"I don't know, Niall." I looked down.

"Leah, I'm not saying we're going. I just said we got invited?" He chuckled, "It was just an idea to see what we find out in our first night as college students and if we weren't doing anything to go."

I sighed in relief, "Oh thank God. I mean, you can go if you want. But I'm not even sure if I can go to the one on our last night as high school students Friday night?"

"What!" He exclaimed, "No, you have to go to that one. All our friends are going to be there and they're going to go to different schools around the globe!"

"Friends?" I anchored an eyebrow, "What friends? I only made two?"

"Come on, Leah!" He begged, "You never know, you may make new friends and they might also go the school you're going to?"

"You just need an excuse to get out of the house without Robert hammering you down all night, don't you?" I grinned, noticing his devious ways I grew awfully familiar to.

"What?" He asked confused. "No, I really want you to go."

"Niall, I can't make any promises." I sighed crossing my arms over my stomach.

"Can you at least think about it?" He begged again.

I don't get what's the big deal? What's going on with everybody lately? Ivy freaking out on me? Zayn suddenly becoming interested in my life? Harry and his warnings? And Niall with his fraternity boys who now want me to go to every party in Colorado?

Something's defiantly up. And I have to find out. One way or the other.

"Fine." I breadth out.

Niall smiled, "Thanks."

"Hey, Horan!" One of the guys from behind him called.

Niall turned and even I took a moment to look at the dark skinned male and another tanned one who were calling him over. He turned to me and I excused him before he had to say anything else. Nail thanked me once again and hurried over to them as well as the other two males with them, Scott and Mike.

I was one again left with my silent thoughts. What can possibly by going on that's so hidden between them? Could they all be possibly planning to do something against me? No, of course not. My brother is one of the mysteries.

Then again comes to mind, what Harry was warning me about. Should I ignore him like I usually do? Or should I actually listen to him for once and see where it takes me from there?

I'm so confused!
