I'm Really Getting Tired of This
[A/N going to regular titles cause I'm lazy and almost done with this story]
"If you can't sit still, take off your arm so I can work on it."
Natasha snorted. "There's a phrase you don't hear often." She was perched on the couch, feet tucked up under herself with a pillow in her lap.
Percy chuckled and pulled the little headband off. The metal arm disconnected from his shoulder and Tony pulled it away, shifting into a crosslegged position with it in his lap.
Sally walked back into the temple and Percy looked up. "Is Hazel home safe?"
"Yep. Drove her myself. Met her mom too. A bit strange, very into crystals and using their powers."
"I mean, your kid is half god, so I guess everyone has their quirks?" Bruce commented. Sally laughed and nodded.
"Fair." Percy laughed.
"All joking aside, there were at least four packs of monsters roaming the streets in broad daylight." Sally said, frowning a little. "I don't like that."
"I don't either." Clint sat up. "Something is very wrong."
"We just have to figure out what." Frank piped up.
"Isn't that always a superhero's job?"
"Speak for yourself, Stark, some of us know what's going on in most situations and are more worried about fixing the problem-"
"You know what, Rogers, I don't need attitude right now, I'm trying to do something that requires delicate touch-"
"That's enough." Sally said sharply. "Bicker once we've saved the world."
The two glanced at each other and nodded slowly.
"Y'know. Sometimes I think Sally is the only person who can shut you two up." Natasha commented. She was now upside down on the couch, feet in the air. Apparently being confined to a building in the sky made her antsy.
"She is." Clint got up and walked over to the wall, inspecting some piece of coral artwork.
Percy flopped out flat on his back, closing his eyes. Considering the circumstances, this was actually pretty peaceful. He was gonna enjoy it while it lasted.
Spoke too soon. There was a knock on the door that echoed through the whole house.
Percy sighed and stood. "I got it."
The others glanced up at him, giving various versions affirmative.
"Hold on, be there in a second!" Percy yelled, so the person knew he was coming.
When he opened the door he almost wanted to close it again.
Why?
Apollo stood on the other side, smiling that bright, stupid smile.
"What do you want."
"Percy Jackson! The gods have looked on you with favor today, to be blessed with my presence!"
"Really?" He leaned in the door, crossing his arms. "Because my home burned down, several of my friends and family nearly died, and there are monsters openly roaming the city that I'll have to clean up. So tell me, Sparkles, how have the gods smiled on me today? And if you say with your presence again I'm punching you in the jaw and locking you out."
There was a quiet giggle from behind him and Percy raised his eyebrows, surprised.
"You know, I think this is the first time I've seen him speechless in a very long time." A small girl who looked no older than ten years old stepped out from behind him.
"Who are you?" He really couldn't help that his tone was sharp. It generally was when Apollo was around.
"Lily." She smiled sweetly and offered her hand.
Percy shook it slowly.
"She is why the gods smile upon you, I suppose." Apollo's attitude was much more deflated.
"And... why is that?"
"Lily is a minor goddess of prophecy." Apollo grumbled.
"You seem upset about that."
"Well, I'm having trouble contacting my oracles at the moment...."
"Let me guess." Percy smirked and leaned in the doorway again, shifting his wings. "Hers are coming through loud and clear."
"Yes." Apollo's jaw tensed.
He snickered. "Right. Well come on in."
Immediately the cheery grin was back. "Why thank you-"
"Not you. Just her."
"But Percy-"
"You heard me, Glow-worm. Lily only."
Lily smiled and snuck through the opening between Percy's wing and the doorframe.
"See ya, Glitz." Percy closed the door in his face.
"You've got quite the confidence, standing up to an Olympian." Lily commented as Percy led her through the house.
"Yeah, I guess. The trick is just not caring anymore." He shrugged and walked into the living room. "Hey everyone. This is Lily. I guess she's got a prophecy for us?" He glanced at her for confirmation.
Lily made a so-so gesture with her hand. "It's more of a... premonition, I suppose. Less cryptic, but shorter."
"Easy to understand and easy to learn? Man, I love you more than his royal Glittery-ness already."
Tony snorted. "Apollo's outside?"
"Yep. I told him he could wait on the steps."
