You Again
Genevieve Grabs the hand and throws the figure on the ground. She straddles her and puts her hands around her neck.
"Nina. What are you doing here?" Genevieve inquires with a lifted eye brow. Nina tries to speak, but she chokes in Genevieve's grip. She grabs her arm and flips her over, so she's on top.
"Don't you know I can't answer questions when you're strangling the life out of me?" Nina retorts, dismounting Genevieve. She walks over to the kitchen and sits on the counter. "And why the aggression? Is this how you great your friends nowadays?" Annoyed, Genevieve gets up and follows Nina to the kitchen.
"You snuck up on me. Anyway, you haven't answered my question, why are you here?" Genevieve repeats, cornering Nina who's still on the counter. Genevieve gets right up in Nina's face, but Nina just shrugs.
"I saw the disaster at the eastern camps as the perfect distraction for me to make my way down here. As you likely know, I've been laying low ever since Habis amplified their search efforts for: the criminal who blew up a Habis transportation hub," Nina says, holding up a newspaper headline. She shoves Genevieve back as she slides off the counter.
"I knew they had picked up their search, but I didn't know about the bombing of the transportation hub. Do they know it was you?"
"Oh yes, absolutely!"
"Don't you think they can use this to demonize the rebellion?"
"They have already demonized the rebellion."
"How many civilians did you kill?"
"Not enough for it to matter."
"Nina!"
"What? This is war. There will be casualties."
"Yes, but all of the casualties from your unsanctioned activities add up to massacre."
"Jeez, I've seen you for 30 seconds and you're already lecturing me. Besides, you act like you haven't killed."
"I have, but not as much as you."
"Then you're making the same argument I am. I say I'm not as bad as Habis and you say you're not as bad as me. We can make comparisons all day, but the fact is, we are all killers, at least I don't try to hide it."
"Well, At least I care and see some value in the individual."
"Thats great, but we don't have the luxury to worry about the individual."
"You can keep pretending to be completely apathetic, but you and I know that somewhere in that onion of a heart, you have some fucks to give. If you didn't, you wouldn't be here." Genevieve and Nina stare sourly at each other in the now empty room. Genevieve disapproves of Nina's near complete lack of ethics, but knows somewhere deeps inside her there is a soft spot. She clearly has some affection for their group of friends and demonstrates a little compassion when she's in a good mood. Genevieve has some sympathy for her, given her traumatic and violent background, but still feels like she could at least try a little harder to be a decent person. Still, as they stare at each other, Genevieve can't help but let her eyes wander around Nina's figure. From her shoulders to her hips, taking note of all her visible new bruises and scares. Every feature on her body gives Genevieve butterflies in her stomach and she wonders what else it's hiding from her. She takes herself out of this trans, questioning if Nina had noticed her eyes wandering. She didn't seem to notice, in fact she seems a bit zoned out herself.
"I hear Bean, Jackie, and Davis are here, I'm going to go look for them. And I'll be at the meeting later," Nina says as she walks away. Her walk is always purposefully, like she's on her way to commit another murder. Genevieve watches the way her hips move as she walks away. They are graceful but dangerous.
