**Penny’s POV**

I got ready for tonight’s dance gig putting on a red spaghetti strap slim dress and silver strappy high heels. Ever since seeing Dally today I feel happier or just more secure I can’t explain why or how but I just do I think maybe because I have always felt safe around Dally. A knock at the door interrupted my train of thought I finished clipping in an earring walked over and opened my door and whatever happiness I had on my face quickly disappeared. “Hello Miss Johnson.” Neil said coldly and made his way in to my room. “Can I help you Neil?” I asked irritated because he thought seeing as he was the grandson of the guy who owned this place he was so much better than all of us…well in truth he was but only on the money side of things. “You help me? Ha please! I’m here because I need to remind you there is no fraternising with the guests and also NO fraternising with the other employees.” He looked down at my stomach when he said that with a horrible judgemental look and I knew he now knew about my “condition”. “So you know then?” I stated rather than asked because it was obvious. “A little birdy happened to tell me.” I knew who he meant by that…Randy that ass!! Randy was the guy that knocked me up…he was also a waiter here. We met last summer and really hit it off but then we went our separate ways after summer until a few months ago when we met up at a bar by sheer luck. Then one thing led to another and…

Next thing I know he wants nothing to do with me and I’m all alone and pregnant. “Ok Neil I got it no fraternising with anyone now can you please leave so I can get ready for dance gig tonight.” I held open the door and stepped aside to make it clear I wanted him to leave. “Ok Penny but seeing as you are…well the way you are this is your last summer unless you get rid of it.” Then he left smirking. My stomach dropped and my whole body filled with rage and grief. I held back the tears though and went to put on my make-up.

**Baby’s  POV**

I walked up to the restaurant for dinner with the family. I was about to walk in when Lisa pulled me back abruptly making me stumble, “Baby cover for me ok? I’m going out with Randy. Thanks!!!” and with that she left and once again I was covering for Lisa it happened frequently. I sighed rolled my eyes and walked into the restaurant going for the table where my parents sat silently judging the others around them which I once thought was normal but now I hate it when they do it and ignore them. “Honey where’s Lisa?” my mother asks, “Oh she wasn’t very hungry.” I lied. I was a terrible liar but my parents always believed me so it didn’t really matter. I ate in silence but listened to my parents rag on and on about some lady they saw today who didn’t wear what they saw appropriate. “Hey, how are my favourite family?” Neil asked clapping his hands together as he walked over to our table.  “Great thankyou Neil, how are you?” my father spoke for us. I just slightly smiled at him and continued on picking at my food. “So what do you say Baby?” Neil asks me. “Sorry I wasn’t listening.” My father gave me a disapproving look but I shrugged it off. “Would you like to come for a walk?” he asks again. “Yeah sure.” I unfortunately agreed.

We walked to the dance patio and danced a little while Neil bragged about his accomplishments. Then I saw them that guy from the other night and the lady, they danced for the entertainment of the guests and they were amazing!!!! I watched in awe as they spun around the dance floor. “So who are they?” I asked nodding towards them. “Oh them they are the entertainments dancers. They entertain the guests and offer dance lessons…they really shouldn’t be showing off like that it won’t sell dance lessons.” I thought he was wrong I would pay for dance lessons if I thought I could dance like that. “Hey Neil, why don’t we go for a walk by the shore?” I asked not wanting to look at that guy Darry anymore whenever I saw him I just wanted to be with him…it sound weird I know. “Sure Baby.” And we headed down to the shore line walking in silence when I stopped to look at the moon which was full and shining down over the water. “I love the way your hair blows in the wind.” Neil says stroking my hair but it didn’t feel nice it felt awkward and I wanted him to stop so I said, “Anything else you want to do?” “Yeah I’m hungry want to come to the kitchen with me?” “Sure” I replied. Again we walked in silence until he told me some joke about him and a lifeguard or something. We reached the kitchen which was huge and Neil asked “Anything you want we have…” I immediately stopped listening when I saw her sobbing quietly on the ground. I knew Neil couldn’t see her or she would get in trouble, I had to get him out of here before he saw here. “Actually Neil, I think I should head back.” “Ok sure Baby.” We headed out of the kitchen and as soon as I could I left to go find Sodapop.

I ran to the dance patio looking for Soda. I saw him standing against the railing with some other guys that looked pretty tough. I reached him and whispered in his ear telling him about Penny he then wore the same troubled look I had spread across my face. He raced around the dance floor trying to get Darry’s attention. They then rushed out of there and I followed them, “why is she here?” Darry asked clearly annoyed. “She’s here to kick Neil away in case he comes back.” Soda made up and I was thankful. “Jesus Penny just doesn’t think!” he was frustrated and wasn’t trying to hide it. “What’s the matter with her?” I asked curiously. “She’s knocked up baby.” Soda explained. “Shit Soda why don’t you just tell everyone?” “What’s he gonna do about it?” I asked just assuming it was his which sent a pang of jealousy through me. “What’s he gonna do about it? Right, because its mine right?!?” Darry exploded. “I’m sorry I just thought-“ I tried to explain. “Forget about it baby.” Soda calmly said. As soon as we reached Penny Darry calmed right down picking her up and calming her down. Soda and I followed them to what I assumed was the dance practice room. “So how do you know Darry?” I asked Soda. “He’s mine and Ponyboy’s brother. Our parents died a few years ago and Darry’s looked after us since then, that’s why me and Pony are here.” Soda explained. “Oh” was all I could say. We then reached the building and once Penny was calmed I found out Randy was the father but he seemed nice. I tried to explain that he could help out but then found out he was truly just an ass. “Look Baby? Go back to your play pen baby.” Penny said and I quietly left trying not to offend anyone…I had to help her whether or not she wanted me too.
