Ch.4
The meet-ups continued throughout the week, they snuck off for dance lessons that usually ended up in an exchange of blowjobs. But hey, they danced sometimes, though the air was heavy with the heat between them as they ground together and swayed, bodies perfectly in sync. It was perfect and they were meant for each other it seemed.
Unfortunately, Dean made the mistake of snapping under the stress and pain and telling one of the wealthiest people there exactly where he could shove his snobby attitude.
"Cas, I got somethin to tell ya," Dean said quietly as they sat in his room. The dancer's cabin was usually scattered with clothes, socks and shirts. Now it was clean though, everything packed away in a few suitcases hidden in the closet. Cas didn't notice, too excited to see Dean.
"Yeah?" The blue eyed teen asked, at ease as they lounged together, both sprawled out on the bed and staring at the ceiling. "I'm leavin," Dean said softly, barely audible as he tried swallowing the knot in his throat. The pain of the truth hanging in the air was heavy on his chest, weighing him down.
Cas didn't reply at first, absorbing the information. He knew that Dean would never lie to him so he said what he could through his closed throat. "When?" He asked, choked. "Tonight," Dean said, feeling tears well up at the thought of leaving. Cas took in a shaky breath, letting it out slow. "Why?" the teen whispered. "Someone tried to pay me to sleep with him and I told him where he could shove it," Dean answered, voice cracking as he rolled to his stomach and his his face in the pillow.
Cas let out a choked sigh and pressed against his partner's side, tunneling under his strong arm and nuzzling at him. Dean felt tears on his neck and he turned to Cas, hugging him close. "I'm so sorry," he said before silently crying into Cas's hair, kissing his forehead. Cas wanted to say something but he couldn't, the tears clogging his throat. He just let out a small whimper into Dean's chest and cried into his neck, sobbing and gasping.
"You c-can't leave me," he said through his tears. This set Dean off more and he hugged Cas tight, "I don't want to, god knows I don't want to go," he said softly. They were both gasping shakily and soaking each other's shirts with tears but I didn't matter.
Once they had calmed down barely enough to talk Cas spoke, "take me with you," he begged. Dean shook his head, "I can't, you know that," he choked out. Cas took a while to collect himself enough to talk again but Dean have him time, "you can," he insisted. Dean shook his head, "I live out of my car Cas, I usually only have six bucks to my name," he let out a shaky sigh. "That ain't no life for you, you deserve better." Cas shook his head "I want you," he said softly. Dean hugged Cas close, "I want you more than anything in the world Castiel, you know I do, but I can't have you. Not until I get a steady job. Then I'll come for you," he said.
They didnt say anything after that, just holding each other close, clinging to the hope that night would never come. It did though and Dean propped himself up on his elbows. They had both fallen into a light sleep, or somewhere between sleep and awake. Cas was on his chest and looked up to him.
Dean bit his lip and Cas let him up, they didnt say anything as Cas helped Dean get the suitcases into his car. Once everything was loaded Dean turned to Cas, framing his face with his hands to stare into his beautiful eyes. Cas leaned into the touch and reached into his pocket, "I was gonna give this to you earlier but..." he trailed off, pulling a piece of folded paper out of his pocket.
Dean took the paper in his calloused hand, unfolding it. It was a picture of Cas, smiling widely next to a sleeping Dean. His arms were out in the picture so he would've been holding the camera above him. Dean just about started crying again and he smiled at Cas, a warm but sorrowful smile.
Cas smiled back and Dean pulled him into a quick hug and let go all too soon. "One last kiss, before I go?" He asked. Cas nodded and though Dean was expecting a heated one, this one was soft and lingering and full of things left unsaid. Dean felt a tear slide down Cas's cheek.
The dancer pulled away reluctantly. "Don't cry too much babe, it'll dim your gorgeous blue eyes," he said, wiping the tear away with his thumb. Cas let out a short hysterical bark of a laugh and pressed into Dean's touch.
They'd grown together so much, they'd spent whole days just lazily talking about life between indolent kisses and and staring at the stars. Dean had brought him swimming at his secret place, introduced him to burgers and fishing and shooting. Taught him how to dance. He'd opened a whole other side of the world to Cas. Made his life go from black and white to colors. He was so much happier than he had been.
That was all being taken away now.
He held back the tears though and Dean have him a smile he only used when they were alone and had just woken up to see Cas tracing the contours of the dancer's face. Cas treasure those smiles, kept them locked away.
Dean went and got in his car, shutting the door with a thud and starting the purring engine. "Hey Cas," he said, like an after thought. "Yeah Dean?" The teen said, waiting.
"I love you," Dean said and too soon he was gone. Cas crumpled to the ground, sobbing into his hands. He didnt get to say it back, Dean would never know.
------------
Down the road a ways, Dean dragged the picture out of his pocket and stuck it on his mirror, smiling to himself and holding back tears as he left his love behind in that wretched camp.
