The Strider Place
A small click is heard as you open the door to your apartment. Who are you? Why Dirk, of course! Gosh, people these days.
Jake looks kinda scared, it seems like, you dunno, he was waiting for this or something. Like the anticipation is uncontainable. Is he shaking? Gosh this guy is so weird when he wants to be. Sorta like when bro finds apple juice. And yeah..he gets pretty weird.
You flick on the light and invite Jake in. He walks in, his eyes widening, a smile growing on his face, before he begins to laugh.
"Hahahaha....Dirk, you know, chum.." He says, while still observing the small rooms, "It's just like how it was in the game, when we played. But you know," He says, and picks up one of the smuppets that had been on the floor, "Now it's real."
He looks so unbelievably happy. You almost laugh when you realize how his face looked, like a kid who had just gotten a huge bag of candy, a month before halloween. Wait, did you say almost? Nah, almost is wrong, you did laugh. You laughed, and Jake stopped in his tracks, where he had been checking out your sick blades, and turned slowly to looked at you. You stop laughing, slightly embarrassed, but Jake looks at you, surprised and happy at the same time. A burst of laughter comes from his lips, and you laugh with him. It was just so..ironic.
"I've never heard you laugh before, Dirk.." He admits. He's right, you never really got to talk much with him, and now, being here with him, it was really a dream come true. And the amount of cheesiness that went into that statement was purely for ironic purposes.
"It's..absolutely breathtaking." He finishes, and looks away, blushing. Was that..a compliment? You feel heat spread across your cheeks, and you pulls Jake into a sudden embrace. He gives a little squeak, shocked, but then buries his head into your chest.
"Iwannastayherewithyou." He says into your shirt, and you put a hand on his shoulder, push him away so you could actually hear him and ask him what he'd said.
"I. Want. To. Stay. Here. With. You." He says, over-announciating every word he said.
"I thought you wanted to stay in your magic tree house." You say, and Jake chuckles at your reference.
"I-Dirk..I think..I think I want to make the most out of this world. I want to run for every opportunity I get, and never look back. I'm not going to hesitate to move forward, wherever I may be. This is an chance for me to get closer to my best bro, so...yeah.." He ended it awkwardly, but you understood what he was saying. Adventure. Typical Jake English, if you asked yourself. Which you did.
"Dave's out with the trolls now, so you could probably use his room. He's still picking up his stuff there to move it over, so it might be a couple days until he'll actually let you in there. He a bit protective of him SBAHJ stuff." You say, and Jake nods understandingly.
"I owe you one, buddy." He says, and smiles again, brightly as ever. You just want to lose yourself in that smile, so bright and friendly and..Jake-like. He sees you staring and looks away, blushing. You swallow your fear and walk up to him, giving him a swift kiss on the cheek.
"Get settled, do whatever you need to do." You say, "And then we can hunt, city-style." He looks up, beet red, but he smiles again, that happy kid-just-got-a-ton-of-candy smile again, and you can't help but smile back.
"Pizza sound good?" You ask him.
"Heck yes."
He's so segoi.
