CARPE NOCTEM

TITLE; i'm assuming your title is to do with the nights watch since 'carpe noctem' means 'seize the night' which I think is very well fitted unlike other titles like 'chocolate' or something.

COVER; the cover is very simple but fitted! the title is very small whether that may be on purpose or not.

AESTHETIC; the whole aesthetic all throughout is beautiful! on every chapter there is an aesthetic and game of thrones related gif. also the poetry weaved in the book is very well thought out and powerful, it immediately sucks you in.

PLOT/CONCEPT; now, a woman being sent up to the nightswatch pretending to be a man then to end up falling in love with jon is a plot that has been used many times before in the game of thrones fandom but I think this book has to be the best of its kind. the tug of war between being a man of the nightswatch or a lady of westeros is beautifully written and full of heartache. i don't want to give away anything for the people who are going to read it so i'm not going to go fully in depth. something i really like about it, is how the relationship is definitely a slowburn – something so slowburn that the main character isn't even with jon first!

WRITING; gurl, don't even start with me. the writing in this book is absolutely, positively phenomenal!! the similes and alliterations from the start have been crafted to almost perfection and are simple breathtaking. descriptions of ice and snow are mentioned dozens of times but they are still different in their own way and each time, better than the next. it really is something out of this world.

CRITICISM; there honestly isn't much to say hear in the slightest but i do have one small thing. the descriptions are beautiful and literally straight from heaven but sometimes, very little, can be very long and you just went to get onto the story and into that dialogue, y'know? it's very rare but it happens.

FINAL THOUGHTS; i really recommend this book to anyone who's interested in game of thrones! it is definitely one of the greats in this fandom and has some of the best writing and descriptions i've ever seen. trust me, you'd want the author to be your mentor.
