Episode 2

POV: Jaden

Like Kaden said earlier, we were all scared, but we had to go home and hide the truth. It's easy, right? I'm being sarcastic; it's my defense mechanism. After everything we experienced with the comet and the dinosaur spirits, life felt more complicated than ever.

I sat on the edge of my bed, replaying the day's events in my mind. I could still feel the energy pulsing from the comet, the way the dinosaur spirits had welcomed us. The connection we felt was unlike anything I had ever experienced, and I knew we were bound for something extraordinary. But as much as I was excited, I was also overwhelmed.

Kaden walked into my room, his presence lighting up the dim space. He always had that effect on me, his confidence radiating warmth. I looked up, and our eyes locked. I could see a mix of emotions swirling in his gaze—concern, determination, and an undeniable spark that ignited something deep within me.

"Hey," he said softly, taking a seat beside me. "You okay?"

"Just thinking," I replied, trying to brush it off. "You know, about what happened. About the dinosaurs. About us."

Kaden smiled, leaning closer. "I get it. It's a lot to take in. But we're in this together." His hand found mine, fingers intertwining. The simple touch sent a rush of warmth through me, grounding me in a moment that felt both safe and electric.

"Together," I echoed, looking down at our joined hands. There was so much I wanted to say, but words felt inadequate. The weight of our secret relationship pressed down on me, a hidden truth we'd both chosen to keep from our friends. I knew it wasn't just about the adventure ahead; it was about us navigating the complexities of our feelings, especially in a world that might not understand.

"Sometimes I wish I could just tell them," I admitted, meeting his gaze again. "I hate hiding this from everyone. From our friends. From the world."

Kaden's expression turned serious. "I know. But we'll figure it out, Jaden. You mean too much to me." He leaned in closer, his breath warm against my cheek. The tension between us crackled, and I could feel my heart racing.

"Yeah?" I whispered, my pulse quickening.

"Yeah," he replied, a soft smile breaking through the tension. Before I could respond, he closed the gap between us, his lips crashing against mine.

The kiss was deep, passionate, and utterly intoxicating. I melted into him, feeling the heat radiate between us. Our lips moved in perfect harmony, exploring and igniting a fire I never knew I could feel. I could taste the adrenaline of our earlier encounter mixed with the sweetness of Kaden's breath. Everything else faded away—the worries, the fear, the uncertainty.

For that moment, it was just us—Kaden and me, lost in a world that felt like it was ours alone. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer, deepening the kiss. It was like everything else vanished; all that mattered was this moment, this connection, and the overwhelming emotions swirling around us.

As we finally broke apart, breathless and flushed, I could see the reflection of my feelings mirrored in his eyes. But before I could speak, a shout rang out from outside my window, cutting through our moment like a bolt of lightning.

"What?!" The voice was loud and abrupt, and the mystery of who shouted lingered in the air, a sudden reminder that our private world was never truly ours alone.

Kaden pulled away slightly, a mix of confusion and concern crossing his face. "Did you hear that?" he asked, still holding my gaze.

I nodded, still trying to process the intensity of our kiss. "Yeah. What was that?"

As we both glanced toward the window, the magic of our moment faded slightly, replaced by the uncertainty of what awaited us outside. I felt a sense of urgency building within me. We had just stepped into a new world of powers and responsibilities, and now, it seemed, we might have to confront more than just our feelings.

"Let's check it out," Kaden said, his determination reigniting the fire within me.

We stood, ready to face whatever awaited us, knowing that together, we could handle anything—even the chaos of the unknown. But as we approached the window, I couldn't shake the feeling that our journey was about to take an unexpected turn, and I had no idea what was coming next.

As Kaden and I approached the window, curiosity and anxiety bubbled within me. The shout came again, louder this time. "What are you two doing?!"

Before we could react, the door swung open, and in walked Ravi, his expression a mixture of shock and disbelief. His eyes darted between us, widening as he pieced together what he had just witnessed.

"Whoa, hold on!" he exclaimed, hands raised in mock surrender. "I didn't know I'd walk in on a scene from a romance movie."

My heart sank. "Ravi, it's not what it looks like!" I stammered, but the panic in my voice was evident.

Kaden stepped forward, his expression shifting from surprise to concern. "Ravi, we can explain—"

"Explain what?" Ravi interrupted, arms crossed. "That you two have been hiding this whole thing from us? You know how I feel about secrets!"

I glanced nervously at Kaden, who gave me a reassuring nod. It was now or never.

"Okay, look," I started, my voice trembling slightly. "Kaden and I have been dating for a while, and we didn't tell you guys because... well, we were trying to figure things out ourselves."

Just then, Maya, Leo, and Ava walked in, catching the tail end of the confrontation. "What's going on?" Maya asked, eyes narrowing as she took in the scene.

"Ravi caught us kissing," Kaden admitted, his tone steady despite the tension.

Ava raised an eyebrow, her expression amused. "Kissing? And you didn't tell us?"

"Yeah, it's kind of a big deal!" Leo chimed in, crossing his arms in mock disappointment.

Ravi shook his head, clearly still processing. "I can't believe you guys kept this from us. You knew each other since elementary school, right? Why hide it?"

"Because it's complicated!" I replied, frustration creeping into my voice. "Kaden used to bully me back then. It wasn't an easy friendship."

Kaden stepped in, his expression softening as he spoke. "It's true. I was a jerk in elementary school, and I know that. But things changed. When we were locked in the theater hall on Valentine's Day, everything shifted."

The room fell silent as the team listened intently. I could see a mix of curiosity and confusion on their faces.

"Yeah, that day..." I continued, my cheeks flushing at the memory. "We were working on a project together, and we ended up getting trapped inside when the fire alarm went off. At first, it was awkward, but we ended up talking. One thing led to another, and we... we had sex."

I glanced at Kaden, who nodded, his expression serious but understanding. "It was unexpected, but it changed everything between us. We didn't just become friends again; we realized there was something deeper there."

The group exchanged glances, trying to digest this new information. "So, what? You guys are like, a couple now?" Ravi asked, skepticism in his tone.

"Yeah, we are," Kaden confirmed, his voice firm. "And we want to be honest with you all. We're not trying to hide anything anymore."

Maya shrugged, her earlier irritation dissipating. "I mean, if you two are happy, that's what matters, right?"

"Totally!" Leo added, a grin spreading across his face. "And now we have even more reason to stick together. It's like we're a family."

Ava nodded, a soft smile appearing. "We just want you both to be safe. We're all in this together."

Ravi, still processing, crossed his arms and sighed. "I guess I can understand why you wanted to keep it quiet. But from now on, no more secrets, okay?"

"Agreed," Kaden said, relief washing over him.

I felt a weight lift off my shoulders as the tension in the room began to dissipate. "Thanks for understanding, guys. It means a lot."

Ravi smirked, breaking the serious atmosphere. "Just don't forget about us little people while you're off doing couple stuff. We want to be part of the adventure too!"

"Deal," Kaden replied, laughing. "You're stuck with us, whether you like it or not."

Just as we were starting to relax, my phone buzzed on the desk, interrupting the moment. I picked it up and saw a message from my mom, reminding me about dinner. I sighed, realizing we needed to wrap things up.

"Okay, we should probably head home," I said, glancing at Kaden. "We'll see you all tomorrow at school, right?"

"Definitely," Maya said, heading for the door.

As the others began to leave, Kaden leaned in close, a playful glint in his eye. "Hey, just because our friends know now doesn't mean we have to stop kissing."

I grinned, feeling a rush of warmth at his words. "You're right."

He leaned in, and just as our lips met once more, a loud shout came from the hallway. "What are you two doing in there?!"

We froze, our hearts racing as we broke apart again. The mystery of who had shouted lingered in the air, reminding us that our adventure was just beginning.
