Dick's POV:

Robin becomes so obsessed with catching Slade that he decides to run away to a remote island (which secretly turns out to be Slade's army hideout like in Cat and Mouse). There, he trains to become Nightwing. Years later he comes back to Jump City, with one goal: Defeat Slade.

He runs into his old friends, who can't believe what has happened to him. Batman included along with Young Justice and The Justice League.

Slade's POV:
Slade still desires an apprentice. When he finds out someone has snuck into his remote island, he investigates. When he finds out it was Robin, he studies him for the years till he goes back to Jump. He watches him evolve and grow.

When it's time, he'll get the perfect heir.
