Chapter 5: The Secret Pirate Treasure
Yet another day at Mondstadt had arrived as we bring the focus on the Knights of Favonius headquarters where we see Shadow getting himself ready for the day... well, eventually he would. He was still in bed with one of his arms hanging off the side, snoozing like a baby. The light from outside made short work of that however as it shined through the slits of the louvers for the window, glaring onto one of Shadow's eyes and stirring him from sleep. Groaning, he tried turning himself away, but his relative position led to him falling off the bed with an audible thud followed by a pained yelp. Now, because of that, he was wide awake as he sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.
Shadowlight2784: *sigh* I'm slowly beginning to understand the life of a vampire...
Suddenly, Shadow heard a knock coming from outside which made him jump slightly as the voice of a certain maid was heard from out of his room. Noelle was a young maid wearing a typical maid ensemble with the exception of a priestess hat, a cravat, and many fuchsia roses, which she wears as to remind herself to never leak confidential information. Her dress has two bows, one at her hip and the other on her rear, the latter of which her Geo Vision is sat on top of. Gilded white armor plating adorns her chest and she wears a pauldron upon her left shoulder. She also wears black tights beneath her armored boots.
Noelle: Excuse me. Is everything alright in there, Master Shadow? I thought I heard a loud thud in there.
Not wanting to worry her, Shadow silently sighs before standing up, heading to the door, and opening it to see the green eyed maid standing there, staring back with concern.
Shadowlight2784: It's fine, Noelle. I just fell out of bed.
This surprised Noelle quite a bit.
Noelle: Out of bed? My, you slept in quite a bit, Master Shadow.
Now it was Shadow's turn to be confused as he raises an eyebrow.
Shadowlight2784: "Slept in"? What're you talking about? I didn't sleep that long, did I?
Noelle: Um... It's nearly noon. Your friends left the Knights of Favonius headquarters earlier, but you were nowhere to be seen, so I came to check on you and that's when I heard the thud.
Shadowlight2784: Were they even aware I was absent?
Noelle: Yeah, but seeing that they had their own new duties to attend to, I believe they wanted to let you sleep in. Master Nintega went to speak with the Acting Grand Master and Master Jordan is already patrolling with Miss Amber.
Shadowlight2784: What about Lumine?
Noelle: I believe she went to do the commissions for the Adventurer's Guild, but I would assume that she's likely nearly done with that right about now.
She brings a finger to her chin upon having a thought.
Noelle: Strange... I didn't see her other little friend float around with her when she went outside.
Shadowlight2784: You talking about Paimon? Pfft, she shares my lifestyle, so I'm pretty sure she's either out cold in her own bed right now or down at Good Hunter.
Noelle: Well, whatever the case, it would explain her absence. Anyways, now that you're up, was there anything you needed, Mister Shadow?
Shadow grins and shakes his head.
Shadowlight2784: You know, you can drop the "master" stuff. If you haven't already guessed, formalities aren't up my alley.
Noelle: I-I know. It's a form of respect... and a force of habit. *sheepishly chuckles*
She chuckles, blushing slightly and tilting her head away to hide it. Shadow puts on a small smile before they both hear some groaning from nearby and they see the tiny floating girl herself, floating while having both her eyes closed as apparently Shadow wasn't the only one who had too much of a good night's rest. They both watch Paimon float in front of them before Shadow just deadpans at this.
Shadowlight2784: That's uh...quite unsettling, and that's coming from a notorious sleepwalker...
To not let Paimon hurt herself, Shadow lifts up his index finger and pokes her hard on the head causing her to flip in the air wildly and this immediately makes Paimon wake up as she looks all around herself surprised.
Paimon: W-Wha?! Shadow? Why did you poke Paimon like that?
Shadowlight2784: Hey, if I wanted to poke you, I wouldn't use my finger. I was just trying to tap you out of your...sleepfloating, I guess?
Paimon: Sleepfloating?
Paimon looks at her surroundings before she realizes that Shadow was right and she sheepishly smiles at him.
Paimon: Uhh... h-how long was Paimon doing that?
Shadowlight2784: Enough for me to be fully awake to process it. I just got up not too long ago, so I'm still trying to focus my eyes.
Paimon: Oh...what time did you get up?
Shadowlight2784: Same time as you I guess. It's almost noon...
Paimon: Noon?! Paimon slept in for that long? Wait...
She looked all around again.
Paimon: Where's Lumine?
Noelle: She left just a short time ago, Miss Paimon. She's probably almost done with her commissions for the Adventurer's Guild.
Hearing this surprised Paimon as she then stomps the air in annoyance.
Paimon: No way! Now Paimon's never going to get her share of food from her!
Shadowlight2784: Well, if you're that desperate for food, you could always lick your fingers or something.
That made Paimon's cheeks puff out as she crossed her arms with a groan.
Paimon: Stop with the emergency food jokes already!
Shadowlight2784: It's not my fault you let yourself be the butt of them. Everything you say is the perfect setup.
Paimon then puts both of her fists on her hip.
Paimon: Hmph. Well if that's how it's going to be... then all Paimon has to do in order to avoid that joke is to not talk at all. In fact, Paimon won't speak until Lumine comes back.
She said as she crossed her arms and turned her head away to which Noelle and Shadow responded with sweat drops as they both looked at each other. As they look back at Paimon trying to be silent, it was suddenly broken when a Knight of Favonius came jogging down the corridor.
Noelle: Oh my, is something the matter?
Wood: Pardon me, but our Calvary Captain is here! He said that he's actually looking for him!
He said this while pointing at Shadow whose eyes widened in both confusion and shock and even Paimon was surprised to hear this too.
Shadowlight2784: What the heck would he need me for? We've got at least three other members he could choose.
Wood: I do not know the details, but he told me to come and specifically find you.
Noelle: *smiles* Well, no worries. I'm sure you can tell our Calvary Captain that he doesn't need to wait any longer as Mister Shadow is bright eyed and bushy tailed now.
Shadow looks at Noelle as she clearly just spoke for him. He was about to question the situation once again before Paimon intervened as she floated in front of Shadow.
Paimon: Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go see what Kaeya is up to.
Shadowlight2784: "We"? Who said I was bringing your tiny butt along? Besides, I recall you vowing not to talk until Lumine returns.
Paimon: Oh shush, you! Let's just go see what Kaeya wants!
Shadow sighs in reluctance before rubbing the side of his forehead.
Shadowlight2784: Fine... it's not like I have anywhere else to be anyway...
He was getting ready to walk out of his room before Paimon quickly stops him.
Paimon: Wait, wait, wait! What are you doing?!
Shadowlight2784: What??
Paimon: You're gonna go out dressed in boxers?!
It was at this moment that when Paimon finally pointed this out, Shadow looked down to see that he definitely wasn't in the attire to walk out of his room into public with just a shirt and boxer shorts. Noelle was trying to hold in a laugh while Shadow grew an embarrassed blush before dipping back into his room while slowly closing the door so that he could get changed into his actual attire.
Shadowlight2784: *sigh* Man, I need coffee...
Meanwhile, out in the Knights of Favonius headquarters, Kaeya was pacing around the place with an extremely worried look while having a hand to his chin.
Kaeya: This is bad... Such a hassle... What am I going to do...?
Shadowlight2784: Gee, you know, it's not every day I see you so worked up.
Hearing his voice, Kaeya quickly turns to see Shadow walk and Paimon floats towards him as seeing them both makes Kaeya calm down, feeling a bit relieved that some of his allies have finally arrived.
Kaeya: Oh, thank the Thousand Winds! Shadow, your arrival must be the grace of the gods! If I may ask - envoy sent by the Anemo God to save this mere mortal - could you spare a moment?
Paimon was getting creeped out by Kaeya's strange talking as she flinched in disgust.
Paimon: Ewwww, cut it out!
Shadowlight2784: Girl, go eat your baby hands. You're the one who dragged my butt out here to begin with. I haven't done much of anything since I got here, so every bit of time I have is basically free.
Kaeya looks around to see if anyone was around first before responding.
Kaeya: The reason I needed you Shadow is because I cannot let my peers hear about this, even yours! I cannot seek help from anyone else, but you. Please, let us move to somewhere more fit for such conversations... Let's talk in the courtyard just outside headquarters. Come with me.
Kaeya then jogs off and out of the building as everything that Kaeya just said only seemed to confuse Shadow and Paimon even more.
Paimon: What's with the sneakiness?
Shadowlight2784: Beats me, but he sounds conflicted with something. It has to be serious, if it's troubling him of all people, so...I'm definitely gonna cover his back on this.
He decided to not wait on that longer than he should and began following Kaeya outside with Paimon floating beside him. He headed down a few flights of stairs before making his way to the courtyard. Kaeya was there waiting with the same worriment on his face from earlier, but was soon quelled when he saw Shadow approaching.
Kaeya: This place will do.
Shadowlight2784: The courtyard? Uhhh...forgive me, but is this really a good place to talk? I wouldn't exactly describe the courtyard as a good place to hold secrets.
Kaeya: Maybe so, but it'll have to do for now. Besides, I don't see anyone else around this area.
Paimon: Tell us what this is all about already!
She demanded, getting impatient.
Kaeya: How should I begin...? Oh, right, let me tell you a secret first. It's a secret of my past, and I confide in you to keep it.
Shadowlight2784: Even though none of us spilled ours?
Kaeya: There are times where sharing your secrets are indeed safe, but there are indeed some that you can't even share with your close friends or allies. Which is why I completely trusted you even though you all seemed like strange warriors from afar.
Shadowlight2784: Don't you think that makes you a bit naive?
Kaeya: I like to see it as giving an acquaintance and myself a chance to get to know each other. No matter what secrets they may be hiding.
Shadow crossed his arms and thought with a raised eyebrow before smiling at Kaeya.
Shadowlight2784: Well, whatever secret that you have for me, I promise that I won't tell anyone. I've kept some for Nintega and Jordan too... (Besides, I usually forget what the secret is shortly after they tell me it.)
He then gives a quick glance towards Paimon with a slightly nervous look.
Shadowlight2784: (For some reasons that are best for maybe all of you to not know for a long while.)
Paimon: Don't worry, Paimon's lips are sealed too.
Kaeya: As a matter of fact, my grandfather was a pirate!
That was definitely not a big secret that either Shadow or Paimon were expecting as they both slowly looked at each other with confused looks on why he would need to drop something like that on them.
Shadowlight2784: Uh-huh...
Paimon: Oh.
They both just had expressions of small disinterest as Paimon crossed her arms while Shadow put his hands in his pockets.
Kaeya: Wait, why do you sound so blithe? Do you think I'm making it up? Look at my eye patch! I inherited it from my grandfather and this is solid proof that we are related by blood!
Shadowlight2784: I...don't see how inheriting an eye patch makes you blood-related...
Kaeya felt slightly offended by that blunt statement.
Kaeya: My! Shadow, how could you not know such common knowledge!? This is no different from children inheriting their hairstyles from their parents!
Shadowlight2784: That's...that's not... *sigh* You know what? I don't have the energy to debate about it right now...
Kaeya shrugged his shoulders as that seemed fair to say before he got back on topic.
Kaeya: Yesterday, I was glancing through the notes my grandfather left and stumbled upon records that spoke of a treasure...
This definitely got Paimon's attention as she was now curious.
Paimon: ...Treasure!?
Kaeya: According to his notes, the treasure is buried in the "Lost Arcadian Ruins."
Paimon: Treasure...
She muttered in a low, creepy voice as she was already fantasizing about how amazing this treasure could potentially be while Shadow raised an eyebrow at her.
Shadowlight2784: Uhhh...
Kaeya: But the location of the ruins is currently unknown. I've tried searching for clues...
Paimon: Treasure!
Feeling extremely annoyed from the constant word, Shadow glared towards Paimon.
Shadowlight2784: ALRIGHT, I GET IT!!
The fairy girl flinches before she sheepishly rubs the back of her head.
Paimon: S-Sorry. Kaeya, what kind of treasure is it? Gold? Or better yet, gems?
Kaeya: Hmph! Treasures that consist of nothing but gold and gems are third-rate treasures. My Grandfather's treasure... is a sword!
Shadowlight2784: You're telling me that his most prized possession was a sword? Was it like, autographed by a famous blacksmith or something?
Kaeya responds to that with a chuckle and a shake of his head.
Kaeya: Oh no, Shadow. This isn't some ordinary sword we're talking about. It's a magic sword that grants the wielder unrivaled power!
Paimon was instantly taken by Kaeya's words, but Shadow wasn't too convinced as he just crosses his arms.
Paimon: Oh wowwww!
Shadowlight2784: Yeeeaaahhh, if I had a nickel for every time I've heard someone describe something with "unrivaled power", I'd have two nickels...which isn't really that much, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?
Kaeya: The sword was dropped from Celestia into the sea by a god. It was later salvaged by my grandfather's crew by pure coincidence. The moment he gripped the sword, thunder roared, billows howled, and the clear skies were suddenly swallowed by raging winds... With the might of the magic sword, my grandfather went on to defeat a hydra, a sliver-haired banshee, a wicked abyss dragon... But the immense power of the sword enticed many more greedy pirates. To avoid meaningless conflicts, my grandfather hid the magic sword.
While there are many legendary creatures in Teyvat, Shadow was somewhat confused as he's played the game with Nintega and Jordan and half of what Kaeya said doesn't exist in what he knows.
Shadowlight2784: Uhhh...you sure half of that wasn't exaggerated? I mean, you'd practically call Teyvat a more expansive and less cloudy version of Olympus.
Kaeya: The world we live in is fascinating, full of unknown and inexplicable wonders.
Shadowlight2784: (It's also full of ones and zeroes, but due to uh...specific circumstances, I can't express that. *sigh* I should at least be able to live up to my title...)
Paimon: Holy moley! That's just insane!
Shadowlight2784: I could say that about virtually every person here. Even the floating emergency rations.
Paimon: Oh, come on!
Shadowlight2784: But, I still don't understand where I play a part in all this.
Kaeya: A gang of Treasure Hoarders has been very active lately and many ruins have had their relics stolen by them. I'm afraid that they will soon discover the Arcadian Ruins and the magic sword will be lost...
That gave all the motivation Paimon needed as she turned to Shadow, now looking determined.
Paimon: We won't let it fall into the wrong hands! We must get the sword before them, right Shadow?!
Shadow stared at Paimon for a second before getting a small smile on his face as he shrugged his shoulders before looking towards Kaeya.
Shadowlight2784: Ehhhh, I was hoping I could sleep in a little mor–OW!!
He yelled as Paimon bashed into his head aggressively. He shoots her a glare while rubbing the part of his head she bashed him at and then turns back to Kaeya.
Shadowlight2784: Uh...I mean, if you're a hundred percent confident about this then I guess I could. I was hoping I wouldn't get involved with the mafia...but I guess I gotta do something productive. Haven't really been doing much since this game's more up Jordan and Nintega's alley.
Kaeya: Game? What game?
Shadowlight2784: Uhhh... nothing.
Paimon: You just rest assured that Paimon and Shadow are here to help!
Kaeya was touched by Paimon and Shadow's willingness to help as he crossed his arms with a proud smile.
Kaeya: Wow~. Great! Please keep it a secret! I'll wait for your good news!
He gives them a salute before taking his leave again, allowing Shadow and Paimon to speak amongst themselves.
Paimon: Hey! So, whatcha think? Isn't it exciting? We're talking about a super-duper powerful sword!
Shadowlight2784: Yeah, emphasis on "talking", Paimon. We don't know for sure if it is.
Paimon: Oh, lighten up, Shadow! Don't be such a Debbie Downer!
Shadowlight2784: I-I'm not! I'm just saying it might just be a slightly more powerful sword than most. It's not like it's Excalibur or something.
Paimon: Well, we'll never know simply by standing around talking about it, will we? Let's go to the Adventurers' Guild and see if we can find out more. The adventurers should know more about the ruins, right?
Shadowlight2784: Worth a shot. Let's make a quick visit.
Shadow and Paimon walk their way over to where the Adventurers' Guild was, but at the section to where the adventurers gather and not at the commission stand where Katheryne was. They were able to make their way over to meet a tall, middle-aged man wearing a monocle named Cyrus as they approached him.
Cyrus: Hey, kiddo! Welcome to the Adventurers' Guild!
Shadowlight2784: Heeeyyyy! The Monopoly Guy! We're here to look for a sword of some kind.
He said before Paimon pouted and crossed her arms.
Paimon: Hmph! We're not here for something that boring, Shadow!
Shadow gives her the stink eye before rolling both of them and sighing.
Shadowlight2784: I'm pretty sure it was described as a "sword" last I heard, so I'm gonna tell it like it is.
Paimon: But you said so booooorrrringly! Come on, where's your sense of adventure?
Shadowlight2784: Fine, fine. I'll leave the explanations to you, emergency food.
Paimon: Thanks! Now, let's–
She stopped to quickly glare at him before continuing.
Paimon: Now, let's get down to business! We're looking for a sword that fell from Celestia... One that can kill eight-headed banshees and silver-haired hydras. It's super, mega, uber powerful!
She emphasized, getting a raised eyebrow from Shadow.
Shadowlight2784: Um...I think you got those backwards.
Paimon: *whisper* It's fine! As long as Paimon doesn't tell them the treasure's location!
Shadowlight2784: *sigh* Fine, fine...
As if she said short term memory loss however, Paimon just blurted out what she wasn't supposed to say.
Paimon: So, Cyrus, do you know where the Lost Arcadian Ruins are supposed to be?
She said which made Shadow facepalm as Cyrus took a second to think that location over.
Cyrus: Arcadian Ruins... Never heard of them. Thanks for your intel anyway. If you do find these ruins, I'd love to see them.
Paimon was confused as she was clearly oblivious to the fact that she blatantly gave away some information.
Paimon: Uh... my... intel...?
What they didn't notice was that behind a wall from behind Paimon and Shadow, someone was peering over at them while eavesdropping on whatever they were talking about. Clearly, they have now heard everything they needed as they turned before jogging away. Shadow thought that he heard footsteps as he turned around to see no one in his sight, making him raise an eyebrow before Paimon floated back down beside him.
Paimon: *sighs* We've got no clues to this place at all...
Shadow shakes his head before walking ahead of Paimon.
Shadowlight2784: If the Adventurers' Guild is looking for it now too thanks to you... it makes me even more skeptical if this place even exists. Kaeya said they are lost ruins... Although, I guess not so lost now that you told everyone...
And thanks to you, we now have some competition, but I'm starting to think this place doesn't even exist. Kaeya informed us of them being lost ruins, but I can't really say that now that the entire guild is aware.
Paimon: Well, regardless of whether or not Paimon said a word, it's not gonna be easy. Come on, it's the hiding place of the super amazing sword! Anyway, we should go meet up with Kaeya first. Paimon believes she saw him heading back to the Knights of Favonius headquarters, so we should start there.
Paimon was just about to turn and head to that very same place if it wasn't for Shadow grabbing her by the back of her jumper's collar and pulling her back.
Shadowlight2784: Nope, I can't put that responsibility on you after what you pulled back there. I should've expected that, though; you don't exactly scream common sense.
Paimon: H-Hey! Paimon has oodles of common sense!
Shadowlight2784: Then you should know that headquarters is THIS way!
He said pointing in a direction towards where the Knights of Favonius headquarters were. Paimon looks in the direction of where she was floating off to and it looked like it was the market. She sheepishly laughs at Shadow before getting pulled by him, so they can actually meet up with Kaeya. Once they were back up at the headquarters, just like Paimon said, Kaeya was waiting for them right there as the Cavalry Captain smiles when he sees his two allies.
Kaeya: Oh, you're back. Do you have any news for me?
Paimon: Listen, we asked around the Adventurers' Guild and found... Well, nothing.
Shadowlight2784: What I did find is that Paimon is a noob when it comes to subtly. Couldn't say anything without mentioning the exaggerated stuff relating to the sword.
He smirked at her when he said that, causing Paimon to blow a raspberry at him. Kaeya just chuckles before crossing his arms.
Kaeya: Haha... That much is expected.
Paimon gained a tick mark and glared up at Kaeya thinking that he was referring to her.
Paimon: Hey! Paimon is right here you know!
Kaeya: *chuckles* I know. But to be more specific, it's expected that the information around would be limited.
Paimon: Why is that?
Kaeya: Oh, I only mean that, what's the fun in finding it without the hard work?
Shadow raises an eyebrow at Kaeya as he knows a certain someone who could agree with that statement.
Shadowlight2784: Did Nintega use his keyblade on you...?
Kaeya: However, I do have some clues. I sent someone to collate black market intel. It seems that someone does know about the Arcadian Ruins.
Paimon: Really? Where is that?
Kaeya: Now, now, as per the black market's rules, they will send someone to meet us to prevent leaks. We will be meeting the informant at the Whispering Woods.
Paimon: Then, what are we waiting here for?
She asked in the same tone of impatience as before.
Shadowlight2784: *sigh* Paimon, he obviously wants to keep this as lowkey as possible, meaning Kaeya likely can't do things out of the ordinary, like show his face where he shouldn't. No offense.
Kaeya: None taken, but you are right about that. In fact, you read my mind. I am a knight... so I shouldn't have any dealings with the black market. You have my thanks, Shadow.
Shadowlight2784: *smiles* Don't mention it.
Kaeya: Of course, you'll be compensated for your troubles... by the Knights.
Paimon: Ooh! No problemo!
Shadow and Paimon were now outside of Mondstadt walking towards the Whispering Woods in order to meet with the informant that Kaeya was talking about. Considering that the woods was the place where they have traveled before, they both had no problem arriving there as they stopped right in front of the trail that leads into the woods.
Paimon: It's hard to see inside of the woods. How will we know where to find this informant without bumping into so many trees, monsters, or accidentally running into them in the first place?
Shadowlight2784: We're only meeting one informant. It's not like it's an entire gang or something.
Paimon: Paimon doesn't get why these people have so many definitions of being secretive. Kaeya wanted to talk somewhere with a chance of anything getting leaked out and now we're at a place that seems a little too quiet for keeping secrets.
Shadowlight2784: *deadpans* As if you have any room to judge.
Paimon: Can we drop that already?! Paimon's better at keeping secrets than you think!
Shadowlight2784: Yeah, that'll be the day...
He rolls his eyes.
Paimon: Let's just go into the woods already! Paimon really wants to know where this treasure is that Kaeya is talking about! Who knows how much time we'll waste when it's already going to be hard finding a single person in the woods?
As if on cue, they both heard a sound of a female screaming in fear as they both turned towards the entrance of the woods to see a woman running towards their way out of the Whispering Woods with hilichurls hot on her tail.
Paimon: Look, Shadow! She's in trouble!
Shadowlight2784: *sarcasm* I don't know...it looks more like she's just taking a midnight stroll.
He summons out his polearm before spinning it around and pointing the blade at the hilichurls.
Shadowlight2784: Nothing says getting a job done here means that I don't get to club some churls.
Shadow then runs towards the Hilichurls as one had a club and a shield. Shadow was able to keep his distance with his polearm as he disarms the hilichurl by swinging down and knocking the club out of its hand before parrying its shield and his spins the spear before hitting it off to the side.
He then channels some Anemo magic into his hand as he spins his spear around in front of him blowing a large gust of wind at the other hilichurl, blowing it hard towards a tree before it falls down to the ground unconscious. Seeing how there were no more hilichurls to keep watch of, Shadow sighs before putting away his spear and turning towards the woman who had a hand on her head groaning in annoyance.
Vile: Why is this happening to me? I shouldn't have helped him...
Paimon: Him, who?
The woman named Vile turns towards Shadow and Paimon who walk up to her as she smiles at them for saving her.
Vile: Thanks so much for saving me! You're far more reliable than those Favonius guys.
Paimon: It's nothing. He's a traveler, he has to deal with stuff like this all the time.
Shadowlight2784: Yeah, although some things...are much harder to deal with than others.
He deadpans at Paimon as Vile then looks at Shadow with widened eyes.
Vile: Traveler? I've heard stories about you. I didn't think I'd be saved by the one I'm here to meet.
Now it was Shadow and Paimon's turn to be surprised.
Shadowlight2784: Hold up...you're telling me you're the—
Vile: Hahaha... I didn't know how I could pay you back initially, but now, I think I'll just give you the intel for free. People in our circle know how important the network is.
Shadowlight2784: You don't need to do that. I was just doing what I had to do. I mean—
Paimon: SHADOW!!
She shouted at him as he decided to get revenge and blow a raspberry back at her as she then came to realize something.
Paimon: But... it's lucky for Kaeya, isn't it? He's supposed to pay for the intel.
Vile: Listen well then, the intel on the Arcadian Ruins... "Three six-armed giants reside in the city in the lake. Two guard the statue, one, the treasure."
Her vague sounding riddle led to both Shadow and Paimon giving her tilted heads of confusion.
Paimon: Right... wait, is that it?
Shadowlight2784: That... that is so little to go off of.
Vile wasn't done however as she pulled out a piece of parchment and held it out for Shadow to take.
Vile: There's also this map that came with it.
Shadow took the map and observed it, but was met with more puzzlement. Instead of a traditional map, it was a drawing of what looked like an area in Mondstadt, one that observed the statue of the Anemo God from a high place and a small distance away. Paimon was also perplexed by this odd form of a treasure map as she scratched her head.
Paimon: Could... this be the X-marks-the-spot?
Shadowlight2784: It kinda is, but it's a bit more structured than a simple treasure hunt. I think it's one of those situations where one clue leads to the next.
Paimon: So the clue is more like a riddle... Well, should be a piece of cake for ya, right Shadow?
Shadowlight2784: Well, I've watched every episode of Blue's Clues as a child. I think that qualifies.
Paimon: What's... "Blue's Clues"?
Shadowlight2784: Uhh... it's a game I used to play with my dog.
He sheepishly grins; rubbing the back of his neck.
Paimon: Ohh, okay! Paimon'll leave it to you then!
Shadowlight2784: Not even gonna try to lend a hand?
He asked, deadpanning at her.
Paimon: No way! Paimon can't really wrap her head around this. Besides, if you can't solve it, we can ask Kaeya. He seems as much of a nerd as you too.
Shadowlight2784: The fact that I'm somehow taking that as a compliment is astounding...
Vile: I'll leave you the intel so you can review it at any time.
Paimon: Thanks, Vile.
Shadow nods at Vile with a small smile as thanks before they both take their leave to head back to Mondstadt so that they can figure out what this mysterious riddle is that'll lead them to the Arcadian Ruins.
Paimon: "Three six-armed giants reside in the city in the lake. Two guard the statue, one, the treasure." What does that mean?
Shadowlight2784: I'm thinking about it, okay? I only just discovered it too.
Paimon: Well if you don't wanna ask Kaeya, you better figure it out!
Shadowlight2784: *sigh* As I said, we just got this map. We're not just gonna give up already and go to him for help. I'm sure we can figure this out ourselves. Now, think. What could it possibly be referring to as "six-armed giants?" I mean, "city in the lake" is obviously referencing Mondstadt, so that's where we gotta search further.
Paimon: Hmm... "Six-armed giants." Is it referring to one of those giant hilichurls?
Shadowlight2784: You mean a Lawachurl? Of course not! Do those have six arms to you?
Paimon: Well, they're a lot bigger than Paimon! You can't blame her for guessing!
Shadowlight2784: When it comes to a riddle, the most obvious answer is the wrong one. Jordan would know a lot more about these kinds of things than me. It has got to be something in Mondstadt that's big and has six of something.
Shadow took this moment to let his brain go to work on formulating the solution to this riddle. He thought about everything he could remember there: the people, the food, the buildi-
Right when that word reached the forefront of his thoughts, Shadow had been struck with a sudden epiphany. There was one particular kind of building in Mondstadt that fits the description. In fact, it wasn't just one building, it was many. A certain kind of structure that had six "arms" in a sense that also resided close to the Anemo God statue. The ones that Mondstadt was most famous for. The answer was...
Shadowlight2784: The windmills!
He shouted, making Paimon flinch from the volume.
Paimon: What?!
Shadowlight2784: There are three windmills in Mondstadt and they are all so big that it'd be hard to miss them. They each have six blades on them which is what the "six arms" are. The six armed giants are the windmills.
Even Paimon was surprised that Shadow was able to figure that out.
Paimon: Wow! That makes sense! Two are close to the statue, while the other... guards the treasure!
Shadowlight2784: Hopefully, it's that simple. Come on. Let's go see if our guess is on point.
When the two got back into Mondstadt, they both looked up at both of the windmills nearest to the Anemo Archon statue which was to their left. Shadow gains a fierce look as he rushes over to the windmill before climbing up the large structure which was a lot tougher than it looked. When he reached the top, he climbed up onto a platform and both him and Paimon immediately saw a treasure chest there waiting to be opened as they both smiled. They rushed over to the chest before Shadow opened it and Paimon peered over his shoulder.
Paimon: Ooh, lemme see what's inside!
Inside of the chest was another riddle to this mysterious treasure hunt to the Arcadian Ruins as Paimon read it out loud.
Paimon: "She doesn't love him at all. The passion rushing through the clear spring is just a front. When she's cold and alone, her true heart is revealed."
Paimon then looks through the chest and points to something inside.
Paimon: There's another map.
Shadow digs through the chest again to pull out a real treasure map this time and this one had an actual X marks the spot on it to show the location.
Shadowlight2784: Obviously, it's not specific. It's all part of the riddle.
Paimon: More riddles? Paimon's dizzy already. Oh no! Paimon used up all her brain juice!
Shadow looks at her with a deadpan look before smirking at her.
Shadowlight2784: You never had any brain juice to begin with...
Paimon glares at Shadow while puffing her cheeks while putting her fists on her hips.
Paimon: Paimon'll let you have all the fun. Or, you could get Kaeya to help.
Shadow rolled his eyes before turning them to the map and taking in where this location could have been. After a minute of staring, he hadn't thought of a solution as this one had him even more befuddled than the last.
Shadowlight2784: ...We might have to go with the latter option this time. This sounds more like a storybook line than a clue. Just what are we missing here?
Paimon: Paimon can't even think straight just looking at the riddle in the first place. Oh, well. Off to Kaeya it is then. He's been around Mondstadt longer than us after all.
Shadow and Paimon then make their way down the windmill before heading to the headquarters again to see their Calvary Captain friend inside leaning against a wall before he sees them approaching him. He stands up straight before smiling at the two.
Kaeya: Shadow! You're back! Looks like you got the intel.
Paimon: Yes and no. It's a lot more complicated than that.
Shadowlight2784: Turns out the intel is a bunch of riddles and while I was able to figure the first one out, this next one is more for a Mondstadt expert like yourself.
Kaeya: Hmm. Let me see.
Shadow hands him the paper with the riddle on it and Kaeya reads it before putting a finger to his chin.
Kaeya: "She doesn't love him at all. The passion rushing through the clear spring is just a front. When she's cold and alone, her true heart is revealed."
Paimon: Any idea what that means?
Kaeya: Is this some page stripped from a love novel that you just happened to find?
Shadow crossed his arms while shaking his head.
Shadowlight2784: Figures...
Paimon: Oh, so it's not a clue. No wonder someone as clever as Paimon wasn't able to get it.
However, Kaeya just starts laughing which confuses the two.
Kaeya: Hahaha... I'm just joking.
Paimon glares at Kaeya while Shadow sighs while putting his hands in his pockets.
Shadowlight2784: Double figures...
Paimon: Hmph... Take this more seriously, Kaeya!
Kaeya: Haha, you're right though, this riddle is hard to figure out. Clear spring... Is it referring to Springvale?
Shadowlight2784: Yeah, I haven't been there yet. No way I was going to figure that one out on my own.
Kaeya: "Passion running through the clear spring..." So when does passion rush through a clear spring?
Shadow crosses his arms and tries to think hard on what this could possibly mean. Hearing the way that phrase sounded, he could tell it was definitely not just referring to Springvale, but also the actual Spring season. He then wonders what the definition of the "passion" part was and that was tricky. After some thought, Shadow knows that it rains a lot during the spring which makes environments look amazing with plants. He decided to take a quick guess at it to see if he was going in the right direction.
Shadowlight2784: When water drops... or flows?
Kaeya: *nods* Not a bad idea! Like when... there's a waterfall, for example...
Shadowlight2784: Are you saying that there's a waterfall in Springvale?
Kaeya: Yes. It appears the solution to this enigma relates to the waterfall behind Springvale. Only the clear spring that blesses Mondstadt can reveal the passion described here. And the "heart" of the waterfall must refer to the cliff on the left side of the waterfall. I noticed it once I was out on patrol in the area.
Shadowlight2784: Okay, yeah... the likelihood of me getting that was sitting at just about 0%.
Kaeya: *chuckles* No worries. I don't blame you for not getting it. After all, you said that you've never been there, so there was no way you could have known. Anyways, the ending, "cold and alone," probably has something to do with Cryo, which can be controlled by a Vision. You should probably take someone who can manipulate Cryo with you.
Shadowlight2784: Alright, that helps a lot. Thanks, Kaeya.
Kaeya: It's nothing. If a Knight of Favonius couldn't even answer a riddle, how could we be trusted to solve criminal mysteries?
Paimon: Let's go take a look in Springvale, Shadow.
She then turns back to Kaeya.
Paimon: We'll leave you to your "criminal mysteries!"
That sentence could be taken out of context as Kaeya gets slightly confused while crossing his arms.
Kaeya: Erm...
Paimon then realizes what she just said as she dismisses her previous statement.
Paimon: No, wait... Leave you to SOLVING your criminal mysteries!
Just as Shadow was about to head outside, a thought suddenly came to mind and he turned back to Kaeya.
Shadowlight2784: Uhh... we don't really know anyone, aside from you, who uses Cryo. So, any suggestions on how to actually solve this riddle.
Kaeya brings a hand to his chin and thinks for a second until he walks up to Shadow, motions him to hold out his hand, and gives him a few pieces of Cryo Slime essence.
Kaeya: Here. Combine that with your Anemo power and you should be able to create a Swirl effect large enough to solve the riddle.
Shadowlight2784: Got it. I'll be sure to have it solved. No problem.
Kaeya: *smiles* No doubts.
Shadow smiles back before he and Paimon make their way out of the headquarters so that they can begin their way towards Springvale and solve this riddle to lead them to the Arcadian Ruins.
The small village comes into view after a few minutes of walking, but as much as Shadow and Paimon wanted to look around, they had more important matters at hand, and those matters carried them beyond Springvale and to the waterfall that rested just a little ways behind it. They found the waterfall and slowly moved their gaze up the rocky cliffside to the top.
Paimon: Well... looks like you'll have to make that climb.
She then put on a cheeky smile while putting her hands behind her back.
Paimon: *giggles* Good thing Paimon can float.
Shadowlight2784: Oh, good. In that case, you're carrying me up to the top.
Shock and nervousness plastered themselves onto Paimon's face and a few beads of sweat inched down her head.
Paimon: H-Huh?! Paimon can't possibly do that!
Shadowlight2784: Well, the way I see it, you've got two options: you can either finally do something productive for once and help me up there or you can just float there yourself and not get a share of the treasure.
Paimon: What?! T-That's not fair!
Shadowlight2784: It's more than fair.
Paimon: In what way?!
Shadowlight2784: Because if you do a good job and get me up there in a reasonable amount of time, I'll give you more than half of the treasure.
Paimon went silent just after hearing Shadow's rather generous proposition and she weighed her options in her head. On the one hand, she'd receive an abundance of treasure. On the other hand, she'd have to carry Shadow who was more than twice her size. She puts a finger to her chin to contemplate her decision even more before she just shrugs her shoulders and flies behind Shadow who looks at her surprised before she grabs the back of his collar and actually tries pulling him up.
To the surprise of no one though, they were going absolutely nowhere as no amount of inner strength that Paimon had could even make Shadow move a muscle. She was sweating and grunting with huge effort while Shadow smirks while crossing his arms as he didn't actually think that Paimon would attempt this, but this just got a lot more entertaining for him. Eventually, the fairy girl stopped while taking a ton of deep breaths as her prediction was correct, but not just that, she wasn't getting any of the treasure now.
Paimon: *panting* Paimon told you... Paimon couldn't possibly... carry you anywhere... even if Paimon wanted too...
Shadowlight2784: Oh, that's okay... I knew you couldn't.
He said with a smug grin as this made Paimon's eyes widen in shock before she glares daggers at Shadow for making her do something so pointless.
Paimon: Then why did you even bother suggesting it?!
Shadowlight2784: Honestly, I didn't think you would oblige to it... but you just made it all the more entertaining for me~
Paimon gets a really angry face with steam practically flowing from her head as she quickly floats in front of Shadow's face and starts shaking his head silly.
Paimon: WHY WOULD YOU PUT PAIMON THROUGH THAT, YOU BIG BULLY?!?!
Shadowlight2784: *chuckles* Because, quite honestly, with how sassy you can be, you deserve a little payback from time to time. I'm just giving you your regular dose.
Paimon then stops shaking his head before planting a hand on her head while shaking her head in annoyance.
Paimon: Paimon knew she should've gone to find Lumine when Paimon had the chance.
Shadowlight2784: Too late. You're stuck with me all because you were greedy about treasure.
Paimon: Is this always how it goes around with Jordan and Nintega too?
Shadowlight2784: Unfortunately yes... but I learned over time that we wouldn't be friends if we never teased each other from time to time. You'll get used to it.
Paimon gets a deadpanned look as she puts her fists on her hips.
Paimon: With how much you all target Paimon in the first place, Paimon will never get used to how you boys act. Now climb the mountain already!
She said pointing upwards as Shadow does so while wearing a smug grin on his face as he enjoyed getting to tease Paimon just a little bit. It took a bit of effort as well as time, but both Shadow and Paimon reached the top of the cliff where the clue had led them. There, they found three of the same monoliths from before each with a Cryo symbol, meaning Kaeya was right about having to bring a Cryo user.
Luckily though, they didn't have to thanks to that trick Kaeya told Shadow about. And speaking of said trick, Shadow remembered it and he pulled out the Cryo Slime essence from his pocket.
Shadowlight2784: Hopefully, these things can't tell the difference.
Paimon: Guess we have just one way of finding out.
Shadow nodded in agreement before heading to the middle of where the monoliths stood. Placing the Cryo Slime essence on the ground, Shadow took out his polearm and activated his Anemo power. He spins his polearm around above him, creating a tornado large enough to circle around the monoliths. It was only when it was in full gust did Shadow bring the blade end of his weapon down onto the Cryo Slime essence, causing an explosion of ice to shoot out all around both him and Paimon. It hits the air around them, causing a Swirl effect.
To their luck, the ice activated the monoliths and into existence, a chest appeared. The tornado dissipates and Shadow turns to Paimon who bore a large grin while clapping her tiny hands.
Paimon: Woohoo! Nice work, Shadow!
Shadowlight2784: I may take Kaeya's advice on using Slime Essence to cause different elemental reactions. I'll have to tell the others about it too.
They both then went over to the chest as Paimon, with little to no effort, opened up the chest and dug her hands inside of it to pull out another treasure map before showing it to Shadow.
Paimon: This time, the mysteries have all been solved, it sure took a lot of work.
Shadowlight2784: The moment Kaeya said treasure, I wasn't expecting this to be a walk in the park at all. Though it is quite a relief that this wild goose chase is just about over.
They both then took a look at the map and while the location was somewhat clear, most of it was kind of blurry like someone smudged it on purpose. Paimon and Shadow look at each other with confused looks at this funny illustration.
Paimon: But in all fairness, this treasure map really is terrible... It looks like it was drawn by a pirate...
Shadow raises an eyebrow at her.
Shadowlight2784: How could you possibly deduce this as a pirate drawing? Have you ever seen one?
Paimon thinks for a second before shrugging her shoulders.
Paimon: Uhhhh... They use only one hand right...? You know because... one of their hands has a hook on them...?
Her response just gained a deadpan stare from Shadow who rubbed his eyes with a sigh.
Shadowlight2784: I rest my case.
However, he took a glance at the map once more and noticed that the location of the treasure looked familiar.
Shadowlight2784: Jordan showed us the Teyvat Travel Guide the other day and I can definitely tell that this map is based off of Falcon Coast, which is just southeast of Windrise.
Paimon: So now what do we do?
Shadowlight2784: I want to tell Kaeya about the news, but considering that he's not the only guy looking for the treasure and some intel has already gotten spread out, it's best that we go find the treasure now.
Paimon: *smiles* You read my mind! Paimon's so happy! Let's go for it! Don't want anyone else to get there before we do!
Shadowlight2784: Like those Treasure Hoarders Kaeya warned us about. Jordan and Amber met a few of them some time ago when they went after Raptor and based on what they told us, those guys are trouble.
Paimon: We should keep our eyes peeled for them then.
She then gets a bright smile on her face, changing the subject a little bit.
Paimon: Anyways, Paimon just wants to borrow the sword to...
Shadow immediately then looked at Paimon with narrowed eyes.
Shadowlight2784: "Borrow" it?
Paimon: No, you heard nothing! Paimon ah- Paimon just wants to see it! Definitely not to become super, mega, powerful and do nothing but play...
Shadowlight2784: Hmph. Whatever. Not like you'd be able to carry it anyways.
As much as Paimon wants to try to deny that, she knew it was true as she nervously laughed.
Paimon: Hehe... Alright, Paimon'll save the chit-chat for later.
She then points out in the direction of all of Mondstadt.
Paimon: Arcadian treasure hunt, here we go!
Shadowlight2784: Just don't do something stupid while we're there.
Paimon: No way! Paimon's never done stupid things before!
Shadowlight2784: And just like that, you most likely jinxed it.
Paimon: Nuh-Uh! YOU jinxed it first!
Shadowlight2784: *sighs* Let's just go...
The two of them then make their way down the hill so that they can travel from Springvale to the Arcadian Ruins located on Falcon Coast.
The walk took a little while as it was now near sunset and both Paimon and Shadow arrived at the ruins on the map. As they walked towards it, Paimon double checked the map that she was carrying before turning to Shadow.
Paimon: This must be the Arcadian Ruins.
She then looks towards the entrance again looking rather perplexed.
Paimon: Is it just me, or does it look... plain?
A rather dimwitted idea then came to her head as she looked back at Shadow with a smile.
Paimon: Oh, Paimon gets it! The perfect disguise is always in plain sight! Kaeya's grandpa sure is impressive.
Just then, they both heard the sound of pitter-patter come from inside the ruins, getting their attention for a second.
Shadowlight2784: Hmm, that's either the sound of a lost animal or...
He gained a serious expression while drawing out his polearm.
Shadowlight2784: Someone's already found this place and is trying to mislead us.
Paimon: Sounded like mice to Paimon.
Shadow looked towards Paimon with a deadpanned glare.
Shadowlight2784: You didn't even try to listen, did you?
Paimon: It's no time to get suspicious. We're close! Hurry! The treasure is waiting for us!
She floats her way inside while Shadow stares at the back of her head with the same glare as before.
Shadowlight2784: (And yet, she claims to have never said stupid things.)
Shaking his head, Shadow went in after her. Much like the ones before, the inside was massive with tall ruins spanning as far as the eye can see. Despite having been in one before, Shadow still couldn't help but be impressed by how all of this could be down here.
Shadowlight2784: I can seriously believe at this point that any sort of weird cave entrance can lead to such an open landscape like this.
As they walked through the ruins, Shadow kept his polearm out as he was still on guard about his thought of someone either following them here or getting inside of the ruins before them. Shadow and Paimon walked across a bridge before they ended up going inside of an open room with one switch and three doors. Paimon looked around to see nothing, but a switch and a couple of flamethrowers in the room as she smirked before looking down at Shadow.
Paimon: Ha! See? Paimon told you. There's no one here, but us.
Shadow however walked ahead of her, ignoring her smug comment.
Shadowlight2784: These are ruins filled with activatable mechanisms... That's probably what they want us to think...
Seeing how he didn't have any other choice, Shadow activated the switch and out came some Pyro Slimes that blocked their path. Paimon's eyes widened from this while Shadow got a serious look while pointing the spear part of his polearm ahead of him.
Shadowlight2784: Yeah, this was definitely a trap...
Shadow then took off towards the Pyro Slimes as he easily knocked all of the little ones away as he spun his polearm around before knocking a bunch of them to splat into Slime Essence. The large one was the only one to take care of at that point as Shadow hit it a couple of times to knock it back before stabbing it and he then used some Anemo magic to throw it up high into the air. When the Slime came back down, Shadow charged up a swing before hitting the Slime hard away from them.
Due to the Slime being Pyro, it started bubbling and puffing up just a little more which alarmed both Shadow and Paimon as they both jumped back a bit before seeing the Slime explode right in front of them spreading Pyro Slime essence all over the place. Shadow then sees some of the goo on the ground that looked to be in better condition than the rest of the essence around them as he decides to pick some up, thinking that it might be useful for them later.
Paimon: Bleugh! How can you so easily pick up those bits of slimy goo without gagging?
Shadowlight2784: Well, it's not excrement at least. Plus, I can definitely use these at a different time. Remember the ones Kaeya gave us earlier? If it can be useful to activate elemental monuments, then it should definitely be useful for combat.
He then stuffs the Slime essence away before they both see a door light up straight ahead of them. It then cleared a path for them straight ahead as Shadow and Paimon nodded at each other knowing that this must be the route to the treasure that they're looking for. When they walked through, they both entered yet another open area that was a little bigger than the one that they were just in. There were no more switches to be activated, so it must have been a dead end, at least to them. Floating around and letting her eyes wander, Paimon tried making out any signs of treasure nearby.
Paimon: Ugh... is this the end? Where are you, my treasure~?!
She called in a sing-song voice.
Shadowlight2784: *sarcasm* Oh yes. Keep shouting and giving away our position to any possible Treasure Hoarders. Need a megaphone?
Paimon shoots him a quick frown from his sarcasm before going back to her searching. There were still no traces of treasure however as Paimon turned her way back to Shadow.
Paimon: Let's look around, Shadow.
Shadowlight2784: Look where exactly? This area is empty.
???: Hahaha... Not entirely empty.
They both heard that rather sinister voice as Shadow quickly got out his polearm and held it firm as they both looked ahead to see that the Treasure Hoarder that was spying on them from earlier was now confronting them.
???: How about you let me take over?
Shadowlight2784: I knew I heard some running footsteps in here! And it looks like I was right to assume that Treasure Hoarders would be in here too!
Izzard: Sharp eye, but too slow. I'm Izzard. I thank you both on behalf of the Treasure Hoarders.
This surprised Paimon with some worry.
Paimon: Ugh... We've been keeping a low profile, how did word get out?
Shadow didn't even look at Paimon as he furrowed his eyes knowing the obvious answer to that.
Shadowlight2784: You... really just asked that...?
Paimon chose to ignore him and remained focused on Izzard.
Paimon: Hmph! Paimon won't let you have the treasure without a fight!
Shadow, yet again, sent a raised eyebrow at her.
Shadowlight2784: You mean I won't let him get the treasure, right?
Izzard: You would be wise to not underestimate us. My gang is just outside waiting for my order. However, they're not as... sociable as me.
???: I'm sorry to rain on your parade...
Hearing that familiar voice made everyone turn towards the direction of where they all entered to see that coming inside was none other than Kaeya who also had two other Knights of Favonius with him.
Kaeya: But your gang won't be participating in your current plan.
He then stops right in front of all of them while crossing his arms with a smirk.
Kaeya: If you'd like to ask why, you can go see them... in Mondstadt Prison. Or perhaps you prefer to join them permanently?
Hearing all of that shocked Izzard as he flinched in fear.
Izzard: The Knights...?
Paimon: Hey, it's Kaeya!
Paimon then points to Izzard with an accusing finger.
Paimon: Kaeya, he wants to steal your treasure! Get him!
Izzard growled in defeat and crossed his arms.
Izzard: Ugh... almost had it!
Kaeya turned his one-eyed gaze to Izzard.
Kaeya: Oh, you mean the treasure? Sorry, but there wasn't any treasure to begin with. You came all the way... for nothing. Just give it up.
This set of news left everyone surprised, most notably Paimon.
Paimon: What? No... treasure?
She then turned to look at Shadow.
Paimon: Did Kaeya just say, there isn't any treasure?
Shadow then sighs before lifting his polearm upright to let his guard down.
Shadowlight2784: I might've known... The story seemed too good to be true after all...
Although the Knights of Favonius were here to arrest him, Izzard didn't seem fazed.
Izzard: Hah. You got me good. Didn't think the Knights would resort to such tactics.
Kaeya: A thief has no right to criticize the Knights of Fav-
While Kaeya was mid-sentence, Izzard instantly turned around and rushed towards one of the doors in the room, surprising Kaeya.
Kaeya: Wait, what are you...
Izzard: You're not going to get me!
Izzard then activated one of the doors to try and make his escape, but as he was just about to enter the door that he was trying to go through... A large humanoid-like robot emerges from the door, shocking all of them, especially Izzard who was right in front of it.
Izzard: Okay... Oh god... Wh-What is this? I didn't mean it!
Izzard then slipped onto the ground in total fear of the Ruin Guard as he backed away looking like he had seen a million ghosts in front of him. Both Shadow and Kaeya found this kind of amusing to see as they both smirked at Izzard getting himself into trouble.
Kaeya: Haha... What a troublemaker.
Izzard: You! Knight! You're not going to watch me die, are ya?
Kaeya rubbed his chin with a playful smirk.
Kaeya: Hmm, what an interesting suggestion.
Shadowlight2784: *chuckles* I mean, it is YOUR treasure after all. It makes sense for you to bask in the glory by taking this Ruin Guard out, right?
Seeing how he was now cornered between going to prison or letting his life end here and now, Izzard made up his mind immediately turning towards all of them, begging for their help.
Izzard: Fine! I'll confess and go quietly! Please, just help me!
Kaeya then pulls out his own sword as he swings it around before holding it in one hand ready for battle.
Kaeya: Alright then. Guess I will have to do some overtime work after all.
Shadow then got his polearm ready, however he looked a little nervous as the Ruin Guard was enormous compared to the rest of them in the room.
Shadowlight2784: Don't suppose you've got any split second strategies for this thing, right Kaeya?
Kaeya: Well, Ruin Guards are vulnerable to Cryo, but it'll require a lot of it to disrupt its mechanism.
Shadow then thought of something as he pulled out the Pyro Slime essence that he picked up earlier and another idea came into his head.
Shadowlight2784: What if... we melted it, instead?
Kaeya shot a smirk in Shadow's direction.
Kaeya: You've read my mind.
However, a sound from the Ruin Guard caught their attention as they turn back towards it to see that it was now facing away from them for some reason.
Shadowlight2784: Uh... What's it doing?
The Ruin Guard then planted both of its arms onto the ground before pointing it's back straight at everyone... while loading homing missiles which made Shadow's eyes pop open in complete shock.
Shadowlight2784: Back missiles... IT HAS BACK MISSILES?!
In one burst, the Ruin Guard fired its missiles at everyone. Shadow and Kaeya avoided each one albeit very closely. When it stopped, the Ruin Guard undug its arms from the ground and stood straight once again. Both Shadow and Kaeya then stood towards it again as Shadow looked towards Kaeya.
Shadowlight2784: Now what?
Kaeya: We charge it.
Shadowlight2784: Really?
Kaeya: Trust me, follow my lead.
Kaeya takes off into a run and Shadow gets a serious look before doing the same thing. As they both ran towards the Ruin Guard, it stuck one of its arms up and tried slamming it down towards both of them to which they immediately scattered and went on opposite sides of the robot. Shadow then spins his polearm around before hitting the Ruin Guard on the side of its leg and while that didn't do any damage, the Ruin Guard now had its sights on Shadow.
Kaeya then shoots some ice at its legs to freeze them to which it only slowed it down just a little bit. Seeing how he was able to stun it for just a minute, Kaeya smirked before calling out to Shadow.
Kaeya: Shadow, aim for its eye. That's its weak point!
Shadow quickly knew what Kaeya was talking as it was hard to miss its single glowing eye in the middle of its head. He pulls out the Pyro Slime essence that he had before hurling them at the Ruin Guard's eye. He then knew what to do next as he activated some Anemo before running around the Ruin Guard and spinning his polearm around and around while also trying to maintain his balance with it in his hands.
Soon enough, the Ruin Guard was in complete flames thanks to Shadow causing a Swirl reaction around it and when he was finished, he hopped back towards Kaeya. They both smirked at each other as Kaeya summoned three icicles around himself.
Kaeya: This moment will be frozen in time!
He says this before charging forward and taking constant swift strikes with his swords, but thanks to the icicles around himself, they were also dealing some Cryo damage too. Because of that, the Ruin Guard was already on fire, it started to melt thanks to the combination of Pyro and Cryo causing a Melt reaction as this did significant damage to the Ruin Guard.
The Ruin Guard then tries to get back up one more time, but Shadow was right behind it as he leaped into the air before stabbing the Ruin Guard in the back and it easily got deactivated after that hit. With that out of the way, the Ruin Guard falls to the ground and Shadow pulls his polearm back out of the Ruin Guard. Both Kaeya and Shadow smiled at each other before Paimon floated over to Shadow and they all then looked behind to see the other Knights that came with Kaeya were holding both of Izzard's arms in their grasp as the Treasure Hoarder had a look of defeat.
Izzard: How embarrassing... Having my life saved by a knight...
Kaeya then crossed his arms while looking towards Izzard with a serious look.
Kaeya: Don't forget what you promised... or that thing will be the least of your worries.
Izzard: Hey... Is this how the Knights of Favonius treats the people they catch?
Kaeya: *chuckles* I'm just joking. Alright... Let's take him back.
Both of the Knights saluted Kaeya with respect.
Knights of Favonius: Sir! Yes, sir!
They then turned their focus to Shadow and Paimon.
Knights of Favonius: Captain, should we take these two in as well?
One of them asked. Paimon flinched in complete fear while Shadow aimed the Knights an annoyed look as they're acting like they didn't just see what unfolded a second ago.
Paimon: What?!
Kaeya however easily cleared up the misunderstanding as he walked up to Shadow and Paimon while placing a hand on the former's shoulder with a smile and a chuckle.
Kaeya: *chuckles* Haha, of course not. They are the ones who made this arrest possible. Without them spreading our fabricated intel, we wouldn't have been able to catch the Treasure Hoarders.
Shadowlight2784: I had a feeling you had something up your sleeve. I'll admit though... you really did deceive Paimon a lot better than you did to me.
Paimon, after hearing just how fabricated this whole treasure tale was down to the fact that there wasn't any treasure to begin with, almost looked as though she was about to cry as her foot stomped the air in a hissy fit.
Paimon: *cries* You're a bad man for lying to me... Shame on the Knights!
Kaeya shook his head in amusement before putting his hands up.
Kaeya: Alright, alright... Stop it already. Though the treasure doesn't exist, you did want it for yourself, didn't you? Otherwise, you would have informed me of your intentions, no?
Shadowlight2784: Well... What do you have to say to that, Paimon?
He said, shooting Paimon a smug look as Paimon looked back and forth between Shadow and Kaeya as she couldn't make any comeback to this truth at all.
Paimon: That... well... ah... Hmph!
She pouts before turning to Shadow.
Paimon: Let's go, Shadow. Paimon's done talking to him!
Shadowlight2784: *sigh* Anything to make the whining stop is good enough for me.
Kaeya: Ha. Just a sec. You did help me out, so you do deserve a reward.
Kaeya then pulls out another sword and hands it to Shadow.
Kaeya: This is the "Triumphant Harbinger of Dawn That Points Towards Victory." As its name suggests, it symbolizes light and victory. If you don't mind, I would like to present you with this Harbinger of Dawn as a reward.
Paimon: Harbinger of Dawn?
Kaeya: *nods* That's right. It suits a well-cultured and disciplined person such as yourself, wouldn't you say, Paimon?
Shadowlight2784: Those aren't words that I'd use to describe her...
Paimon ignored him as she was more interested in the sword that Shadow got from Kaeya as it shined in her eyes, thinking that it might be really valuable.
Paimon: Well... If the reward is this Harbinger of Dawn...
Kaeya: You'd forgive me, right? I'm honored to have such an understanding friend.
Paimon rolls her eyes and just waves her hand at Kaeya to stop trying to so hard to apologize to her.
Paimon: Yes... yes...
Kaeya: You have my apologies for the deception. I will not use the same method twice.
Shadowlight2784: Even if it was a lie... it was for a good cause. There really is no reason for any of us to question the Knights of Favonius' tactics at this point.
Kaeya smiles at Shadow while chuckling.
Kaeya: Careful now. Some of us can be a lot more mischievous than we look.
Shadowlight2784: *smirks* I could say the same to you.
Kaeya: Well then. We shall agree to sometimes watch each other's backs while also looking behind our backs at the same time.
Both of them let out a small laugh after that before a thought came to Kaeya's mind as he decided to ask Shadow another question.
Kaeya: Seeing how you and I have gotten acquainted with each other quite well now, Shadow, I would like to ask... Do you enjoy wine from time to time?
Shadow shoots Kaeya a weird look from this question as he should definitely know the answer to it, especially since he knows that he's the youngest of Nintega and Jordan. Kaeya however chuckles at his reaction.
Kaeya: Kidding. While you certainly look the part, you don't have to tell that you're not of age to drink quite yet. Still, there are other kinds of drinks that I wouldn't mind sharing with you that don't have alcohol.
Shadowlight2784: What are you getting at?
Kaeya: Isn't it obvious? Meet me at Angel's Share a little bit later tonight. If you don't mind, I'd like to have a little chat with you... and perhaps introduce you to someone as well.
Shadowlight2784: And just who is this "someone?"
Kaeya: Well, that would be telling.
Shadow looked towards Paimon who just shrugged her shoulders with the cryptic sentences that Kaeya was giving. Nevertheless, Shadow didn't see any reason to distrust Kaeya as even he could agree that they've gotten to a point where they can be considered friends or allies. He turns back to Kaeya with crossed arms before nodding his head.
Shadowlight2784: Fine. But since you're the one who invited me... I'm not paying.
Kaeya: *chuckles* Pretty bold of you, but fair enough. Now, if you both will excuse me, I need to interrogate my suspect. Don't be afraid to come visit me at headquarters if you need anything.
Shadowlight2784: Will do.
Kaeya then takes his leave along with the other Knights of Favonius while keeping a close eye on Izzard to see if he'll try any other tactics. As they leave, Shadow looks down at the sword again as Paimon floats over to him.
Paimon: So what do we do with this now?
Shadowlight2784: I obviously can't use this since I'm more experienced with staff-like weapons. I can't give it to Jordan either since he uses a bow. Nintega's got his own sword too... maybe Lumine might like it.
Paimon easily nods in agreement with this as she reaches her arms out for Shadow to hand it to her.
Paimon: Oooh! Paimon likes that idea! I'll take it back to her and you can enjoy your moment with Kaeya making the job so much easier.
Shadow just deadpans at Paimon as he doubts that Paimon could even swing a sword let alone carry one. He just puts the sword over his shoulder before walking the way out, surprising Paimon.
Shadowlight2784: Yeah... not gonna happen...
Paimon: W-What?! Come on! You're not even gonna give Paimon a chance to try?
Shadowlight2784: If you couldn't even lift me up, what makes you think you can do it with this?
Paimon puffs her cheeks out from this as she can't deny that either despite wanting to at least hold the sword.
Paimon: You do have a point...
Her disappointed look didn't go unnoticed by Shadow who admittedly felt kinda bad that she ended up with nothing in the end.
Shadowlight2784: *sigh* Tell you what. I'll treat you to some Sticky Honey Roast when we get back. As much as you didn't really do anything, I guess having you around is better than doing it alone.
Paimon was a little surprised to hear Shadow say that, but she proudly smiles while putting her hands behind her back.
Paimon: Now that's one thing Paimon can't pass up!
Shadow offered her a smile and he motioned his head in the exit's direction before heading towards it. Paimon followed his example and headed out alongside him.
A several minute long trek took them back to Mondstadt where the night had glazed the sky with darkness. Shadow dropped off Paimon with Lumine before heading over to Angel's Share to meet up with Kaeya.

He entered the establishment and found the place to be bustling with people. Friends sharing drinks, some passed out, while others were guys trying to hit on some of the girls and promptly getting smacked for it. The familiar figure of Kaeya soon could be spotted as he sat by the bar. His one eye landed on Shadow and his lips promptly went up into a smile before he stood and went over to him.
Kaeya: Nice of you to join me tonight, Shadow.
Shadowlight2784: Don't get ahead of yourself. Nintega and Jordan are most likely busy with their own things, so as I said, an offer like this was something that I couldn't pass up due to not having anything better to do.
Kaeya: *chuckles* Well, think of this as a way of being able to get even with them. Now you have the option of getting a chance to come here with company such as myself, especially considering that I'm a Knight of Favonius.
Shadowlight2784: Speaking of which, you said that I'm not the only one here tonight that you invited. So... are they running late or was this just another form of deception?
Kaeya: Come now, surely you do not distrust that much after helping me catch a criminal.
Shadowlight2784: *smirks* And who did you use in order to catch this criminal, exactly?
Kaeya: *chuckles* I wouldn't say I used you, more like, I allowed you to do what you wish that just so happened to work out in my favor as well. It's a win-win for everyone, wouldn't you say?
???: *sighs* Leave it to Kaeya to make things difficult for everyone that he crosses by.
The very millisecond that familiar, female voice entered Shadow's ears, his pupils shrunk and for the first time in a while, his cheeks burned red hot. No... no, it couldn't have been! It had to be someone else! Silently praying to himself, Shadow turned to the source of that voice only to have his prayers unfortunately be dashed to pieces. Walking over to them with her usual emotionless face was none other than the one whom many in Mondstadt wonder how she's even a Sister at the cathedral. Shadow's Mondstadt crush herself... Rosaria.
As Rosaria approached the two, Kaeya just kept his usual smile while Shadow looked completely speechless as he kept questioning if this tall godd- u-uhh, woman approaching him was even real.
Kaeya: Come now, only a part of me wanted to see how he would react, the rest was for a good cause. I must admit I didn't expect for you to come so soon, Sister Rosaria.
Shadowlight2784: (Ohh, boy... It's my version of Aria in Genshin Impact.)
Rosaria just rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.
Rosaria: Trust me, the second I was allowed to leave, I took my chance. You're lucky I even came at all.
Rosaria then looked down at Shadow and the moment that she made eye contact with him, Shadow froze up wearing a pink blush on his cheeks.
Rosaria: And who's this?
She asked really dryly.
Kaeya: As you most likely recall, nearly a week ago Mondstadt was under the attack of Stormterror and as if our prayers were answered, this young man along with three other mysterious travelers came to our aid and actually confronted Stormterror themselves along with helping the Knights of Favonius ease the dragon's rage that caused the storm. And to add a little more to the praise, he accompanied me today with tracking down a Treasure Hoarder that was on the loose.
Rosaria raised an eyebrow at this before looking down at Shadow again... and she wasn't exactly impressed.
Rosaria: Hmm. Thought you'd be taller.
Shadow, in an effort to make it less awkward than it may already have been, made his blush disappear and straightened out his posture.
Shadowlight2784: *clears throat* Uhh, I'm... sure there's a spell for that somewhere, right?
Rosaria did nothing but stare back at him wordlessly for the first few seconds before her eyes went back up to Kaeya.
Rosaria: You sure he's one of those travelers? There's not much to him.
Shadow took a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm himself down.
Shadowlight2784: (Just imagine her as ones and zeroes... Just imagine her as ones and zeroes... Just imagine her as ones and zeroes...)
Kaeya: I can assure you that there's more to him than just appearances. You just need to get to know him better like I have. You plan to stick around, don't you?
The darkened Sister's eyes slowly went back and forth between Kaeya and Shadow who tried his best to not crack under pressure from being near his crush. Said crush's eyes closed and her mouth puffed out a sigh.
Rosaria: Guess I've got nothing to lose by being here.
Shadowlight2784: (Pretty sure I'm the only one who's got something to lose here.)
Kaeya: *smiles* That's the spirit. Now why don't the three of us enjoy the easygoing atmosphere of the tavern some more by having our little chit-chat over some drinks.
Rosaria: You say that and yet I can easily question his age. Is he even old enough to drink?
She scanned Shadow's face while saying that as Shadow felt some sweat drip down the back of his head.
Shadowlight2784: (I don't get it. She's an ice queen and yet I'm sweating like hell over here... Is she transferring her thermal energy to me? )
Kaeya: Unfortunately not, but there are other kinds of drinks here that have no alcohol, so he won't be thrown out. Besides, that young-looking bard comes in here all the time drinking at his own leisure. I, of course, have no objections to his decisions, but it is a rather bold choice.
Rosaria: Well, considering how I just came from the church, a change of pace is really the thing I want most right about now.
Kaeya: *smirks* My thoughts exactly. Here, the drinks are on me tonight.
Shadow then turned his attention back towards Kaeya as he deadpanned up at him.
Shadowlight2784: It was going to be either way. You owe me for tricking me and Paimon... Well, mostly Paimon.
Rosaria shot him another raised eyebrow before humming to herself.
Rosaria: Seems like you've got common sense just as much as I do. I was about to say something along those lines, but it looks like you beat me to it.
Was that a compliment from Rosaria of all people that Shadow just heard? His eyes shot open in mild surprise, but Shadow just tried his best to maintain his stoic expression as he scratched the side of his head with one finger.
Shadowlight2784: Th-Thanks...
Kaeya goes to the barkeep and orders Shadow, Rosaria, and himself a round of drinks. Once they received them, they took a seat at an empty table as Kaeya started his drink already while Rosaria was slow with hers. Shadow watched her for a second and decided to try and strike up a conversation with her.
Shadowlight2784: I'm uhh, Shadow by the way.
His crush stopped mid sip and looked at him with her usual cold stare.
Rosaria: I don't recall asking for names.
Shadowlight2784: Well, unless you had something else to call me, I figured I would share that with you.
Her gaze narrowed briefly before turning it to her drink.
Rosaria: *sigh* As you heard from Kaeya, mine's Rosaria. Just don't think that makes us friends or even acquaintances simply because you know my name.
Shadowlight2784: Yeah, yeah. I've heard it all before. *sigh* Anyway... I see that you work for the Church, but from the sounds of it, you probably hate the place, huh?
A scoff could be heard from Rosaria as she sipped from her drink before answering.
Rosaria: I'm surprised they haven't fired me yet for how little I care for the job itself. Although, me? I'm just another ordinary person to them. Church, work... I just do what I have to do. Whenever someone has a job for me, I do it, no matter what it is.
Shadowlight2784: Such as?
Rosaria: I keep a close eye on those I don't trust.
She shot a brief stink eye at him.
Rosaria: Such as travelers that come from nowhere.
Shadow shuddered slightly from her icey cold gaze and cleared his throat once again.
Shadowlight2784: (Never thought I'd be scared by a bunch of code, but... here we are. I swear, it's like DDLC in VR... Except I'm still debating if this is horror or not...) Kaeya, at least... put in a good word for us... right?
Rosaria: That still remains to be seen, at least by me.
Shadowlight2784: Fair enough. How much have you heard of us, though?
Rosaria: Only as much as Kaeya's let on. That you and your little friends came to town and somehow scared off Stormterror.
Kaeya: It displays how good they are as a team if I do say so myself.
Rosaria looks at Kaeya before sending another slightly peeved look Shadow's way.
Rosaria: Or they're just a bunch of troublemakers that got lucky.
Shadowlight2784: Eh, if it was just me, that'd be believable but with Jordan and Nintega? Nah.
Kaeya: Hehe, well I would say that any sort of troublemaker's luck can run on for so long that it can unpredictably determine the outcome of who exactly they become in the end. An adversary, a vigilante... or perhaps something that not even the naked eye could see.
He smiled over at Shadow when he uttered the last part while Shadow gave him a similar look.
Rosaria: *sigh* So, we've really become so desperate for help that we're enlisting strangers now?
Kaeya: Any help from anyone is better than no help, Rosaria, and so far, Shadow and his friends have yet to disappoint.
Shadowlight2784: I was once referred to as "a walking disappointment", so I thought I already would at some point, Kaeya.
Kaeya: Who told you that?
Shadowlight2784: A girl with twintails... From where I'm from...
Rosaria: Well, she isn't that far fetched, but like I said before, that remains to be seen.
Shadow stepped back into the conversation as he tried to ease some of the tension.
Shadowlight2784: *sigh* Okay, look, I get it. You don't trust me or my buds, and I guess you do have some leg room to discredit the rumors going around. I'd probably be the same if we did a role swap.
He crosses his arms and puts on a serious face.
Shadowlight2784: But I'll tell you this, Rosaria, the second we handle Stormterror, there won't be much room left for doubt.
Kaeya was a little bit surprised at Shadow's slightly aggressive response while Rosaria shot him a raised eyebrow out of the corner of her eye. In Shadow's mind, he thought that he may have taken that a bit too far which worried him that either one of them may dislike him a little bit now. However, it was quite the opposite as while Rosaria didn't have another emotion to react to, she just responded with another low hum.
Rosaria: Cocky... but admirable, I suppose.
Shadow internally sighs in relief that he was actually able to get another small compliment from Rosaria as Kaeya even chuckled at her response too.
Kaeya: I must admit, you two are hitting it off. Maybe not in the conventional sort, but in your own way.
Rosaria: Don't get any ideas, Cavalry Captain.
Shadowlight2784: You guys like this all the time when you drink?
Rosaria: I don't really care what goes on through Kaeya's mind, as long as we talk about drinks or anything else that doesn't bore me. Besides, Kaeya's only interested in things that intrigue him, whether that's you, your friends, the innkeeper, or anybody else...
Kaeya: Hey! How could you divulge so much about your dear old drinking buddy, hmm?
Rosaria: YOU think I'm saying too much? Heh, get over yourself, it's no big deal.
Kaeya: Get over myself, you say? Look who's talking, Miss Too Important for the Church~.
He says this with a smug smile as Rosaria rolls her eyes, but Shadow slightly chuckles from this.
Rosaria: So anyways, Shadow, was it?
He nods to her question.
Rosaria: Just why exactly have you come to Mondstadt?
Shadowlight2784: I've been searching around for this dude known as Aether. He's the brother of my friend Lumine. They got separated a long time ago and she's been looking for him ever since.
Rosaria: Hmm... a search for family, you say?
Shadowlight2784: Yeah, it's been rough for her since. We wanted to help her because, well... it's the right thing to do.
Although Rosaria said a moment ago that she is wary of Shadow and the others' sudden appearance in Mondstadt, if what Shadow said was true, then perhaps she has somewhat more of a reason to trust him and his friends.
Rosaria: I suppose that's fair. Though, now that you've gotten yourself and others involved in the affairs of this Stormterror incident, it's not like you have any other choice.
Shadowlight2784: I'll take it or leave it at this point, but it's not like we're solely dedicated to helping Lumine out. The three of us created a pact revolving around that, actually.
She hated to admit it, but Rosaria actually somehow found herself intrigued by Shadow's admittance to this detail.
Rosaria: A... pact?
Shadowlight2784: Yeah, it's like a little vigilante group. We swore to help anyone and everyone who is in need of assistance. After all, we're not exactly heroes if we just help one person.
Rosaria: Hmph. If that's your definition of heroes then that makes you all rather naive...
Shadowlight2784: I was quoting my friend, Nintega a bit there. Frankly, I'm as naive as most commoners tend to be. Though that doesn't mean I can't do some noble things for once in my life. I'd rather do stuff I can be proud of so that it sticks with me all the way.
Kaeya chuckled and raised his drink.
Kaeya: I'll cheer for that notion.
Seeing Kaeya agree to Shadow's tiny resolve made her raise an eyebrow, but she sighs nonetheless.
Rosaria: Well, I help out others mostly night after night too, so I can't completely disagree with that. *sighs* I'm constantly surrounded by uptight folks day-to-day. I prefer more relaxing environments such as the tavern.
Kaeya: Ooh, are we gossiping about people who take themselves too seriously, now?
Rosaria: Do. Not. Get. Used to it.
She replied to him sternly, resulting in another chuckle from Kaeya while Shadow couldn't help but join his amusement as well. The night carried on like that for another couple of hours until it was about time for the bar to close up for the night. Kaeya had gotten somewhat drunk while Rosaria was a bit tipsy herself. Shadow, having received no alcohol, walked out just fine as he guided them out of Angel's Share. He dropped Kaeya off at the Knights of Favonius headquarters before taking Rosaria back to her place. When they reached her door, Shadow unloosened the arm she used to prop herself onto him and she did a short wobbly walk to her home's entrance.
Shadowlight2784: Umm...I'm not sure you can handle getting around without help.
Rosaria: I've been drinking far longer than you have, so I can take care of myself.
Shadowlight2784: I know someone with alcoholism. She's been drinking for decades and has never been able to stand on her own.
Rosaria: There are some troubles that only a stiff drink can take away. That being said, I never get drunk.
Shadow was unconvinced of that as he just raised an eyebrow at her while smirking.
Shadowlight2784: So why'd you need to wrap your arm around me just to get back here?
Rosaria: *sigh* I said that I don't get drunk. I never said I don't get just a little tipsy.
She then lets out a barely noticeable smile.
Rosaria: Though you should see Kaeya when he's even more drunk than he was today. Sometimes wine has its uses, like revealing someone's true colors for example.
Shadowlight2784: *smirks* Yeah... nothing I haven't seen before.
Rosaria leans herself against the door and looks back at Shadow with a skeptical expression.
Rosaria: Listen, I'm... still not sure if I trust you. In fact, I'd say you would need to do quite a lot for me to see you as someone who isn't suspicious.
Her expression then softened somewhat.
Rosaria: However... based on tonight's events and observations, I can at least say that you're... not an immediate threat to Mondstadt.
Shadowlight2784: I guess Mondstadt's a higher priority for you than the Church?
Rosaria: Mondstadt is a beast of light, both old and young. Old in the sense that it constantly requires someone's protection, yet too young to ever survive on its own. That's why there's people like me. I care for Mondstadt just as the other Sisters care for the believers, we are all guiding that which we love onward on the path towards freedom.
Shadow raises an eyebrow at Rosaria's definition of Mondstadt as he crosses his arms and seems a little more curious.
Shadowlight2784: What's uh... the deal with the whole "beast of light" business?
Rosaria: People like myself can be found in the dark. I may seem like I don't care about much, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The only thing I don't give much of a damn about is the church, but that's only because I don't really believe in its faiths and ideals.
She then turns to leave Shadow who looked towards the ground thinking about what she said before Rosaria stopped and looked back at Shadow out of the corner of her eye.
Rosaria: I will say this though... Pray. Not for gods, nor for the betterment of others... but for yourself. You'll be surprised to see how much you can accomplish with that in mind.
With that finally said, Rosaria took her leave and entered her home, closing the door behind her and leaving Shadow alone with his thoughts.
Shadowlight2784: (If I don't display the same charisma that I had tonight, the next time that I see her... That woman is not gonna let me live.)
He turned around and started walking back towards the Knights of Favonius headquarters wearing a smile on his face as today turned out to be a lot more lively than he was originally thinking that it was going to be. Not only did he get to hang out with Kaeya more, but he also got to meet Rosaria and the introductions went so smoothly that he wonders what may go on from here with his new relationship with the two.
Shadowlight2784: (I think I should've bought stock in MiHoYo. These characters have a whole lot of personality for a free to play.)
Chapter 5 End.
