Chapter 25: Of Ballads And Brews - Part 1

Things have been quite quiet, yet busy recently for the Honorary Knights. Not too many interesting things have been happening with them lately, so they decided to take the time to be laid back and relax by either hanging out with their close friends or girlfriends, or doing their part-time jobs in Mondstadt. Fortunately for them, a special event has just come up in Mondstadt and they were called by Katheryne at the Adventurers' Guild for business. They were right in front of her as the receptionist was double checking a list.

Katheryne: Let me just confirm... Yes, all tasks on the checklist are complete. Honorary Knights and Paimon, we are grateful for your assistance. Thank goodness all four of you were able to come as soon as we contacted you all. Who knows how we would have coped with all these commissions otherwise.

TheNintegaGuy: *chuckles* No problem at all, Katheryne. Things have been pretty slow for us lately, and we've been dying for some action!

Both Jordan and Shadow aimed deadpan looks at him.

Jordanwolfboy9743: You mean YOU have been dying for some action, right?

Shadowlight2784: Yeah, things have been pretty tame on my end as far as escorting goods here and there goes, and a part of me kinda prefers that.

TheNintegaGuy: Hey, my point still stands! Don't tell me that none of you were excited to hear that we had an opportunity to help out when they were all short on people.

Paimon: Oh, oh! Paimon was!

Lumine then aimed a deadpan frown at her this time.

Lumine: Only because you thought food or Mora would be involved in it.

Paimon: H-Hey! Paimon was still excited either way!

Katheryne: Being the seasoned adventurers that you are, it's true that you all are suited to work of a much higher caliber than your recent assignments. However, this situation is unavoidable in Mondstadt at this time of year.

Everyone grew concerned and slightly surprised faces at this as they looked at each other curiously before back at Katheryne.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Why's that?

Lumine: I think it's probably because it's harvest season?

Katheryne: That's right. This is the ideal season for harvesting crops and fruits, and for the wine capital of Teyvat, it's also the all-important wine-making season. Farmers are anxious to sell off their fresh produce, and all the major wine merchants are seeking to purchase top-quality ingredients to make new product.

Shadowlight2784: Guess that explains why wine has been the talk of the town recently.

Suddenly, they heard a pair of Knights of Favonius talking to each other and by the sound of it, it appeared to be urgent.

Fynn: Huh? What do you mean? Seriously?

Bernhard: Yes, I swear, I'm not making this up. The Acting Grand Master wants everyone to gather at headquarters in the main hall. Hurry! We need to leave right now, or we'll be late!

He immediately dashes off right past the Honorary Knights as his partner pursued after him.

Fynn: Hey, wait up!

Paimon: Why do those two Knights look so... flustered?

Shadowlight2784: Well, obviously, something big is going down.

Jordanwolfboy9743: *playfully* And they didn't invite us.

Shadow turns to Jordan with a deadpan.

Shadowlight2784: You know what I meant by that...

Jordanwolfboy9743: Yeah... I know~

He replied, giving his friend a playful flick to the nose, leading to a tick mark forming on the back of Shadow's head. Just before he could say something else to Jordan, a familiar voice spoke up from behind the group, belonging to the Cavalry Captain of Mondstadt, Kaeya.

Kaeya: Well hello there, if it isn't the Honorary Knights and Paimon. What a rare pleasure.

Shadowlight2784: Well, "rare" is a strong word given that we live here temporarily... Though actually, you're just the guy we'd like to ask on what's with the Knights getting all "excited" for some reason?

TheNintegaGuy: Does Master Jean need our help with something as well?

Kaeya: Haha, don't worry, this isn't one of those occasions where you need to come to everyone's rescue. All that's happened is that the Knights of Favonius have just received a letter from the Grand Master. Acting Grand Master Jean will be convening a meeting in the main hall shortly to go through it.

Paimon: *relaxed sigh* Well that's a relief.

Lumine without even looking whacks Paimon on the head with a hand to see if her brain could reprocess that comment and it did as her eyes suddenly widened.

Paimon: ...Wait, hold on a second. What did you say again?

Lumine: The Knights of Favious received... a letter from the Grand Master?!

Shadowlight2784: Why are they so uptight about a letter from Jean?

TheNintegaGuy: The "Grand Master," Shadow. Not the "Acting Grand Master."

Jordanwolfboy9743: Wait... But isn't that... Varka?! MJ told us about him! He's that leader who led that legendary expedition!

Hearing this, the crew got a little more excited about this news as they turned to Kaeya eager to know more.

TheNintegaGuy: If Grand Master Varka sent a letter... What did he say?! Is he coming back to Mondstadt?! Will we actually be able to get to meet him too?!

Kaeya chuckles with a cross of his arms.

Kaeya: Oho, so interested in our Grand Master all of a sudden? Never knew you all were such a gossip.

Jordanwolfboy9743: How could we not be!? We've heard tons of stories about him, but we've never actually gotten to meet him!

TheNintegaGuy: If Master Jean says that he's a living legend... then I don't see a reason that we shouldn't be hyped about news from him.

Paimon: Besides, the expedition has been going on for aaages, and we've still never heard a single thing about what they're up to.

Kaeya: Hahaha, the Acting Grand Master is very gracious in her appraisal. Varka brought quite a bit of trouble to those around him on the road to becoming a legend. I'll have to tell you about it sometime. Anyway, since this has piqued all of your interest, why don't you all join me at headquarters, and we'll see what the letter says?

Shadowlight2784: I think that was already the plan whether you showed up or not, but why not at this point.

TheNintegaGuy: I agree. Let's go.

He and the rest of the Honorary Knights turned to Katheryne and gave her one final wave goodbye.

Paimon: Bye, Katheryne, see ya soon.

Katheryne: Alright, take care now.

And with that, the group headed up the town towards the Knights of Favonius headquarters, wondering what the fuss was about. When they got there, a huge crowd of knights were gathering around in the main foyer. There were so many Knights of Favonius inside that it surprised even Kaeya.

Kaeya: Hmm, it looks like just about everyone's here.

Shadowlight2784: Holy damn, this place is an auditorium right now.

Suddenly, a familiar sultry voice rang out as they all turned to see Lisa approaching them. Jordan gains a grin on his face while Nintega freaks out before running to hide behind Lumine.

Lisa: Hey there, cuties.

Her seductive smirk widened even more upon seeing her boyfriend.

Lisa: And you especially, my handsome little helper~

She leans down and gives Jordan a kiss on the forehead, causing him to nearly fall over in a lovestruck state as hearts danced above his head.

Jordanwolfboy9743: *giggles goofily* H-Hey, Lis~

Lisa: *giggles* I didn't know you and the rest of your little friends would be coming. So you heard about the letter?

Snapping out of it, Jordan cleared his throat and refocused.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Y-Yeah, we did! In fact, we ran into Kaeya when we heard about it.

Paimon: Wow... Paimon's never seen so many people in the main hall at once before. Paimon's getting kind of nervous now...

TheNintegaGuy: Th-That makes two of us... F-For different reasons though...

Lumine glares back at Nintega hiding behind her due to Lisa being there before she just sighs and shakes her head.

Lisa: Must you always hide from me every time I appear?

TheNintegaGuy: H-Hey, I wouldn't have to if you didn't fry me with your Electro powers for simply forgetting to return your books on time!

Lumine then growls before she takes Nintega by the collar and glares into his face.

Lumine: Man up, you coward!

She said before shoving Nintega back in front of her to which he subtly still took a small step away from Lisa's direction. Kaeya laughs at his behavior and speaks.

Kaeya: Don't get too carried away, alright? If I know the Grand Master, the fact that he has the time to be writing letters means it's probably nothing serious. It certainly won't be bad news.

Lisa: Kaeya's exaggerating a little, but otherwise, I agree. After all, Mika's not the kind of person who'd be able to keep it hidden if something were the matter. The truth would be written all over his face.

The introduction of a new name had the Honorary Knights confused.

Lumine: Mika? Who's that?

Lisa looks ahead of all of the Knights of Favonius in front of her and points to someone who looks to be standing next to Jean up front.

Lisa: Over there, look. The kid standing next to Jean in front of the staircase.

All of the Honorary Knights got a better look to see this kid that Lisa was referring to and when they saw him they see this. A young boy likely several years under their age, a blue jacket with lapels and rolled up sleeves worn over a white hoodie with blue details and a yellow necktie decorated with white details and pinned at the top with a blue gem. Over this, he wears a large belt-like garment crossing over his torso along with a small brown buckled book bag decorated with a blue and yellow plume. He wears a pair of cuffed white shorts with silver details, thick gray socks, oversized brown boots with spurs, and navy gloves with silver plating. His outfit is adorned with pins and other silver details, such as a large shield-like ornament on the right side of his chest with a blue feather attached to it. Two long pieces of fabric dangle from behind his jacket, decorated at the end with silver ornaments. His Cryo Vision is attached to a plate on his right glove. This was Mika, younger brother of Huffman and the front-line surveyor of the Knights of Favonius Reconnaissance Company.

Lisa: He used to be a land surveyor in Eula's team. He's very talented in what he does and a very reliable person. When the expedition team set out, the Grand Master appointed him to be the core member of the front-line team.

TheNintegaGuy: Wait... Eula did tell me about him a couple of times. THAT'S Mika? He's a lot younger than I originally thought he was. Is he the one that sent the letter?

Lisa: *nods* Correct.

Jean's voice then rang out, getting the attention of everyone on the main foyer.

Jean: Please may I have your attention, everyone. Now that we're all here, let's begin reading out the letter from the Grand Master.

Clearing her throat, she turned to Mika.

Jean: Mika, please go ahead.

Mika: Y-Yes, Master Jean.

He replied, showing signs of nervousness as he took a step forward.

Mika: Right... *clears throat* Hello, everybody. I am Mika, surveyor of the Reconnaissance Company. Uh, recently, I have been taking part in an assignment with the expedition team. I will now be reading Grand Master Varka's letter aloud for you all.

He said as he took out a small parchment and as he did, Jordan leaned to the rest of the team with a small smirk.

Jordanwolfboy9743: *whisper* I'm not the only one who is finding him kind of adorable like Sucrose is when she's shy, right?

Nintega smirks back at him and shakes his head.

TheNintegaGuy: *whisper* Absolutely not, pal. He must not be used to all of the attention. Which is a little surprising given that he's a surveyor for the Knights.

Mika then begins reading the letter aloud to everyone.

Mika: Ahem. "To the Knights of Favonius: Greetings, everyone. This is Varka. The first thing I want to say to you all is: Please put your minds at ease, the expedition is safe and all of its members are accounted for."

Apparently, some of the Knights of Favonius were actually anxious about this as it put some of their minds at ease when this news was said.

Bernhard: That's fantastic news!

Fynn: Phew, my palms are sweating...

A soft sigh left Jean as well before Mika spoke up again.

Mika: Umm... May I continue?

Jean: Go ahead, Mika.

He nods back at her before reading more of the letter.

Mika: "Alright, now that your fears are allayed, I trust you'll be ready to listen to the rest of my letter. I'm writing to you from the northernmost reaches of Teyvat by the light of the stove. The expedition forces are stationed here while we restock. I once told you that the purpose of this expedition was related to a dangerous secret from days long past. I am still unable to disclose more than this, but suffice to say that you needn't worry about how our mission is progressing. In the past couple of months, we received an unexpected visitor: the Fatui Harbinger known as "The Captain."

Hearing that title brought great shock to the Honorary Knights.

Jordanwolfboy9743: *whisper* H-He met one of the Fatui Harbingers!?

Shadowlight2784: *whisper* And wait... "The Captain?"

TheNintegaGuy: *whisper* We know there's different categories of them, but so far all that we know of are Jester, Doctor, Knave, Balladeer, and someone Diluc referred to as "The Fair Lady." Who we already know is Signora.

Paimon: *whisper* You think we should be concerned? I mean... we were kind of responsible for ruining many of the Fatui's plans recently.

However, Mika's next line that he read put their minds at ease.

Mika: "I am fully aware of the Fatui's outrageous actions in Mondstadt in recent history. Nevertheless, the Captain was not hostile towards any of us on this occasion."

TheNintegaGuy: *whisper* One of the Harbingers being nice? *sarcasm* Where have we seen that before?

Mika: "Open parenthesis: I rather suspect that's because this time, Snezhnaya and we are in the same boat. Close parenthesis."

Jordanwolfboy9743: *whisper* Even I'm finding that hard to believe too.

Shadowlight2784: *whisper* And technically, saying open or close parenthesis in notes, isn't technically necessary...

They all then shoot unamused glares and stinkeyes at Shadow.

Shadowlight2784: *whisper* But... that's probably not important...

Mika: "The man hides everything under the mask he wears, so no one can know his past or his origins. However, one thing is for sure: He is as hard as iron for having the courage to challenge gods as an ordinary mortal."

TheNintegaGuy: *whisper* *chuckles* Then clearly, he hasn't met us yet.

Mika: "I don't doubt that he could even take out a Ruin Guard by stabbing it in its big, glowing eye with one of Klee's crayons. Open parenthesis: Don't get any ideas. Close parenthesis."

Jordanwolfboy9743: *whisper* *relieved sigh* Alright, good. I was honestly imagining how sad Klee would be if we took one of her crayons.

Mika: "Our scouts have confirmed that The Captain received orders to head for Natlan three days ago. We'll be able to sleep much better now that we don't need to worry about him anymore. I will admit that some of his actions have helped us. But even then, he owed us that much. This year's Weinlesefest must be kicking off in Mondstadt any day now? What a great pity that this year, once again, we will be unable to spend the festival together."

The three otherworldly boys all collectively sighed from hearing that.

TheNintegaGuy: *whisper* Dang! I was really hoping to meet him too!

Jordanwolfboy9743: *whisper* *sigh* You're not the only one, pal.

Mika: "Everyone here is always thinking back fondly upon the fine wines of Mondstadt, as well as all the happy times we have spent with each and every one of you. I hope that you all the citizens of Mondstadt enjoy the festival to the fullest. Have a few drinks on our behalf - the Dawn Winery's limited edition Weinlesefest seasonal special will do nicely. May Lord Barbatos bless Mondstadt, and may the wind carry our sentiments back to your side. Varka. P.S.: If you're wondering who's tougher between me and the Captain, well, I'm the Grand Master! There are ten captains in the Knights of Favonius but only one Grand Master, ahahahaha." His laugh, not mine.

Nintega crosses his arms with a small smirk.

TheNintegaGuy: *whisper* I may not get to meet him... but I like the way that he thinks.

Mika finally puts away the note.

Mika: The letter ends here. Thank you, everyone, for your attention.

Jean: Thank YOU, Mika.

She replied, smiling before Mika turned to her and rubbed the back of his head.

Mika: Master Jean, um... I just noticed that there's something else written on the back of the last page...

He takes the note out again and read what was on the back of it.

Mika: "P.P.S.: I ran out of paper, so I'll add this here. Lisa, the following is a message for you." ...Oh, this part seems to be from the Grand Master to Miss Lisa.

The curvy librarian's eyes widened from being called out specifically.

Lisa: Oh? For me?

Jean: Ah, seeing that it's a special message... Lisa, we'll discuss this in private.

She turned to the crowd next.

Jean: Everyone, as the Grand Master mentioned in his letter, the Weinlesefest is in just a few days. And how fortunate we are at this time to receive word that all is well with the expedition. Though they are unable to return to Mondstadt and spend the festival with us, the Weinlesefest will nonetheless be a major event that all of Mondstadt is looking forward to. I know that everyone will guard your stations and perform your duties, both for our far-flung colleagues involved in the expedition, and also for the hardworking people of Mondstadt. And of course, during your time off, I hope you will be able to rest, relax, and enjoy this long-awaited festival. That brings our meeting to a close. Dismissed.

The crowd of knights finally dispersed, leaving only the Honorary Knights, Paimon, Kaeya, and Lisa still standing there.

Paimon: Did Paimon hear that right? They ran into the Fatui's "Captain"...? Hmm... who knows what that was about, but it must have been important...

Lumine: Well, like Varka said, he didn't cause too much trouble for them, so while the Harbingers are likely still malicious, some of them could be negotiable too.

Paimon: Eh, Fatui Schmatooey, the real big deal here is the Weinlesefest - sounds like there'll be loads of free food and drink! Paimon wants to hear more!

Everyone shot Paimon playful smiles while shaking their heads.

Nintega, Jordan, Shadow, & Lumine: Typical Paimon...

Lisa then turns to them and gets their attention.

Lisa: Hey, cuties. How about we go and chat with Jean? None of you got a chance to say a proper hello with so many people here.

Paimon: Sounds good! Alright, let's go!

The crew all head in the direction towards Jean's office, but as they did, Nintega sees Mika over next to the office right next to Kaeya. He puts a finger on his chin before stopping.

TheNintegaGuy: I'll meet you guys inside. I kind of want to say hi to Mika here.

The rest of the group shoot Nintega smiles as they nod at him before they all go inside of Jean's office. As they did, Nintega walks over to Mika and once the young boy takes notice of Nintega, he immediately becomes timid and starts stuttering in his speech.

Mika: Ah! Uh, h-hi there, umm... You must be looking for Captain Kaeya...? Please, don't mind me!

Nintega put on his best welcoming smile while crossing his arms.

TheNintegaGuy: Actually, I came to speak with you.

As if he wasn't already anxious enough, Mika flinches in surprise from this and his nervousness skyrockets tenfold.

Mika: Huh? Wait, but... Wha-?! Oh geez, Captain Kaeya... Wh-What should I say?

Kaeya chuckles at Mika's social awkwardness.

Kaeya: Oh, Mika... How have you not changed one bit after being out on the front line this long? You were just asking me about the Stormterror incident, weren't you? Well, allow me to introduce you to one of the legendary Honorary Knights, Nintega. Their leader, nonetheless.

Mika's eyes widened from this news as his head quickly turns to Nintega in shock.

Mika: Y-You're... N-N-Nintega?

Nintega nods with a warm smile.

TheNintegaGuy: *chuckles* That's right. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Mika.

He reaches a hand out for a handshake, but what Mika does next shocks Nintega... He bows respectfully to him with both of his hands together which makes Nintega's eyes widen.

Mika: F-Forgive me for not noticing you sooner! C-Captain Eula has told me many stories about you and she expresses you in such high regard! T-To be in the presence of Captain Eula's soulmate, I-I apologize for my improper greeting!

Nintega stares at Mika in shock before he slowly turns to Kaeya as now he doesn't know how he should respond to this.

Kaeya: *chuckles* Mika... you don't need to be so formal. Yes, Nintega here is indeed the lover of our beloved Reconnaissance Captain, but he is also a lot like our Acting Grand Master as well.

TheNintegaGuy: R-Right, what Kaeya said, Mika. I-I can assure you, I don't bite.

Hearing this, Mika looks up at Nintega who shoots him a nervous smile to assure him that unlike Eula, he's not as strict as she is at all. Although, he was still reluctant to not address him so politely, Mika stands straight back up with his arms straight before he nervously laughs with a blush while rubbing the back of his head.

Mika: I-I'm sorry, Mister Nintega...

TheNintegaGuy: There's no need to use "mister" either...

Mika: S-Sorry...

TheNintegaGuy: And you don't need to keep apologizing.

Mika: S-Sorry!

Nintega sighs from this, but he shakes his head with a small smile.

TheNintegaGuy: So Eula has told you some stories about me, has she? Stories such as what?

Mika: C-Captain Eula said that you were able to help her out with capturing an associate of the Fatui... Sh-She's said that you're formidable in battle... a-and she's even said that every mission you two go on... it cuts the time in half a-and she even said that you've shown skills that can even outmatch her.

TheNintegaGuy: *smirks* She actually said all of that?

Mika nods which only makes Nintega chuckle.

TheNintegaGuy: Now why won't she openly admit that to me? *chuckles* Well, you're in luck, Mika cause I heard all about you too from Eula as well.

Mika's eyes widened even more.

Mika: S-She... told you about me?

TheNintegaGuy: *nods* I won't tell you exactly what she said, but I can translate that this is what she told me. She said that when you came into the Reconnaissance Company for the first time, you were still about as shy as you are now. *chuckles* That certainly wasn't an exaggeration. But even though you didn't communicate that much, you performed admirably in the team. Even going out of your way to run some errands for Eula too.

He grins at Mika while putting both of his hands on hips before winking at him.

TheNintegaGuy: Now that's some commitment right there, buddy.

Mika: W-Wow... I-I... I didn't... I didn't think you guys thought so highly of me. I'm... I'm in awe. Um... I have to go report in with Captain Eula now, please excuse me! I-It was nice meeting you for the first time, Mister Nintega!

He shouts before running off, leaving both Nintega and Kaeya alone now.

TheNintegaGuy: *chuckles* Aw, he's definitely timid, but I can tell from him announcing the letter in front of all of the Knights of Favonius and what Eula told me about him, he definitely works hard just like the rest.

Kaeya: That is a pity that he took off so suddenly. But don't take it the wrong way. The way he sees it, every pair of eyes in Mondstadt is focused squarely on you and your friends. Though it appears that with you around... he'll likely be way more than just polite to you.

TheNintegaGuy: *nervous chuckle* Can't say I'm entirely comfortable with that, but... I don't dislike it either.

Kaeya: Give it some time and this'll all work out. Next time you see him, I'm sure you'll get along just fine. In fact, let me share a little secret with you: Try talking to him about exploring the wild. You'll win his trust in no time.

TheNintegaGuy: *nods* Thanks, Kaeya. Well, I guess you'll have to excuse me now... I don't want my friends to have to fill me in too much on what I missed inside while I was talking to Mika.

He said give Kaeya a two-finger salute to which he nods at before Nintega walks into the Acting Grand Master's office to see that he didn't miss too much at all as he joins his friends. Jean was the first to notice him as she aimed him a warm smile.

Jean: Ah, there he is.

TheNintegaGuy: Hope I didn't miss anything important.

Shadowlight2784: Nah. Lisa was about to read the message Grand Master Varka left for her.

Jean: Nintega, it's good to see you. Apologies, I didn't get the chance to talk with you or any of the others during the meeting just now.

TheNintegaGuy: Don't sweat it, Master Jean.

Lisa: Don't be deceived - Jean may appear very composed, but she's been talking about you four a lot more than you think.

Jean gets a little bit bashful hearing Lisa say this out loud.

Jean: *sigh* Lisa...

Lisa: *giggles* I'll leave you all to catch up. I'm going to read my letter.

She states before going to do so.

Jordanwolfboy9743: *smirks* Talking about us a lot more, huh MJ? Mind elaborating on that~?

Again, Jean gets a little embarrassed hearing this as she rubs the back of her head.

Jean: I, uh...

However, Nintega hits Jordan with a slightly serious look.

TheNintegaGuy: Come on, Jordan. She just got through an important announcement with the Knights of Favonius. Cut her some slack.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Aren't you the least bit curious too, Nintega?

TheNintegaGuy: *sigh* A little, but I'm not gonna force it out of her.

Lumine: Let's... just go on topic about this new event going on.

Paimon: Yeah, Master Jean – none of us really know anything about this Weinlesefest... Could you tell us more about it?

Jean: *nods* Yes, of course. The Weinlesefest is an ancient Mondstadt festival, just like Ludi Harpastum and Windblume. In addition, it's the most important part of the fall. Each fall, the west wind blows in Mondstadt. Legend has it that the wonderful scent of Mondstadt's wine-making during the harvest season entices even the Anemo Archon into attendance, being the great wine-lover that he is. No matter where he is, he will transform into a soft breeze and return to his homeland.

Everyone all looked at each other with growing smirks as they already knew that during this event, Venti was likely going to be running all over the place to get good wine.

Paimon: Ugh... Yeah, that sounds like the Anemo Archon alright...

Jordanwolfboy9743: Oh, something tells me that he would never miss out on something like this~

Shadowlight2784: If he can't die from alcohol poisoning... I'm just waiting for him to try dozens of cups of them...

Jean: For this reason, Mondstadters call the western wind the "returning wind." The Weinlesefest originally began as a celebration to welcome Lord Barbatos on his return. In the past, every household would brew fresh wine around this time of year, and keep it sealed at least until Windcoming Day during the following year's Weinlesefest. Uncasking the sealed wine is a symbolic way of inviting the Anemo Archon to share a drink. Legend holds that if the Anemo Archon is satisfied with the taste of the wine, he will summon a gentle breeze to richly bless the people.

Lumine: "Richly bless"? How?

Paimon: Knowing him, it was probably blessing them with more good wine the next year.

Jean: That's a good question... But there's really no way of knowing. These are very old stories. Many of the details have been lost to time.

Shadowlight2784: That tends to happen with generations passing down stories or traditions to their descendants; things tend to change over time. I mean, just look at the dullards nowadays arguing over what constitutes a Windblume flower.

Apparently, it looks like Lisa had finished reading her letter as she steps back in to join in on the conversation.

Lisa: All part of how cultural heritage is created.

Jean: Indeed. But for the time being, at least, the tradition of paying tribute to the Anemo Archon on Windcoming Day is still alive and well, and the Weinlesefest remains a time for Mondstadters to share the joy of the harvest with one another as they partake of fine wines. This is a time of year when many Mondstadters living away from Mondstadt return to their hometown. For those unable to return, Weinlesefest is the period when they miss their family and friends most keenly.

TheNintegaGuy: Huh. Guess that explains Grand Master Varka's quote in the letter. "May the wind carry our sentiments back to your side."

Jean: For this year, we've joined forces with the Church of Favonius and the Adventurers' Guild to host a celebration on the banks of Cider Lake, just outside of Springvale. There will also be a traditional Wine Market during the festival period.

Paimon: "Wine Market"?

Jean: Well, originally it was simply a place where winemakers and farmers would come to trade in raw ingredients for wine-making. These days, it is a much grander affair. Not only will you find a range of choice wines, but seasonal fruit beverages and food items for everyone to enjoy too. A lot of people also sell second-hand goods and handicrafts at the market. The Knights of Favonius plan to use this as an opportunity to do some fundraising for needy children and elderly people in the city.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Wow! A time to party while also providing help to those who most need it? I'm already hooked!

TheNintegaGuy: *chuckles* No doubt that we're participating in a special event like this.

Jean: If any of you have the time, I encourage you to take a look around. I hope you'll find it a worthwhile experience. Now Lisa - what was the Grand Master's message to you about?

Lisa: I was just about to bring that up. The Grand Master says he wants me to handle something for him – something to do with Razor's past.

The moment Shadow heard this, he was immediately curious considering he was good friends with Razor.

Shadowlight2784: Wait, Razor's past? He told me he was raised by the wolves of Wolvendom. He knew absolutely nothing about his real parents when I asked him and he called the wolf pack his "lupical" which is just another word for family.

Lisa: *nods* Yes, that was as much as I knew as well. But in his letter, the Grand Master says that in the cabinet above the third book shelf to the right of the grandfather clock in Jean's office, there's a wooden box containing some items that Razor's parents left for him. He says... "It's time to give this box to Razor."

Paimon: Does that mean the Grand Master knew Razor's parents?

Lisa: It would seem so. The Grand Master didn't simply run into Razor one day in Wolvendom and teach him how to use a sword. No, the connection between them goes back much further.

Paimon: Wow! Well, c'mon, let's go find Razor! He'll be pretty excited to find out something about his true parents!

Lisa however puts a finger to her chin at this which Lumine noticed.

Lumine: Hold on, Paimon. Lisa, there's something worrying you about this, isn't it?

Lisa: *smiles* Oh, cutie. Nothing escapes your eyes does it? For the child who never met their biological parents, this kind of conversation is always a difficult one. Even for the most well-adjusted. By contrast, Razor grew up in Wolvendom and has had very limited contact with human society... Who knows whether he's ready for this or not.

Jordanwolfboy9743: In other words, we need to handle this delicately, otherwise, we run the risk of wrecking his whole world?

Lisa: *nods* Exactly, Jordy.

Jean: I'm sure the Grand Master will have given due consideration to Razor's circumstances. Perhaps he felt that now would be the appropriate time.

Lisa: Hmm, that's a good point. Okay, cuties, can I leave you all to break the news to Razor? He thinks of me as his teacher, so he might not open up to me if he gets upset. But you are his trusted friends. I think it makes more sense for him to hear about this from you four.

TheNintegaGuy: Sure, but I feel like that would be handled better by Shadow seeing as he's the closest to him out of the five of us.

Shadow crosses his arms and nods.

Shadowlight2784: Usually, I prefer visiting him at the front entrance of Wolvendom, so I don't get mistaken for dead meat from any of his wolfpack... but this is way more important, so I'll definitely try to take care of this and break the news to Razor.

Lisa: Thank you, sweetie. Try to be as encouraging as you can. Someone his age needs all the love and support they can get.

Shadow nods from this before Nintega walks ahead and gestures to the rest of the team that they should get going to Wolvendom in that case to see Razor and break the news about his parents.

The trip wasn't that long at all as the group had just passed Springvale and were right near Wolvendom with Shadow ahead of them, so that Razor would immediately recognize him.

Paimon: Razor's usually around Wolvendom, right? Uh, how do you think he'll react after hearing about this?

Shadowlight2784: Dealing with harsh truths from your past isn't easy... Trust me, I know that better than anyone else.

Lumine: What do you mean, Shadow?

Shadowlight2784: Every day, even right now, I question my actions to whether I have improved or gotten worse from how I was... a time before I met Nintega and Jordan.

Jordanwolfboy9743: It's true... Out of the rest of us, Shadow's had it the most rough. There was a time where people really treated him like the bad guy all the time despite how little they knew about him.

TheNintegaGuy: It kind of left PTSD in him for some time until us along with some of our other friends from back home rolled around and helped him get over that.

Paimon floats over to whisper to them.

Paimon: *whisper* Is that why sometimes his words can come off as... well, blunt and cold?

TheNintegaGuy: *whisper* Eh... partially.

Jordanwolfboy9743: *whisper* The other part is all Shadow.

Shadowlight2784: Let's forget about that for now... This ain't about me.

Everyone all looked at each other as it was a little bit rare to find Shadow super serious about a topic. When they arrive at Wolvendom, the first thing that they see is a hunting trap in the middle of the trail.

TheNintegaGuy: A hunting trap?

Jordanwolfboy9743: I've been around Springvale enough to know that the hunters there use this type of trap.

Lumine then noticed something strange about the hunting trap as her eyes widened for a second.

Lumine: Wait, hold on...

She then activates her Elemental Sight to get a better look of the hunting trap and the next thing that she sees is traces of Electro energy near it.

Paimon: Hmm? What is it, Lumine?

Lumine: There are traces of Electro energy near the trap.

TheNintegaGuy: That's... gotta be Razor, right? Doesn't he have an Electro Vision, Shadow?

Shadowlight2784: True, but he's usually really good at avoiding traps like these, especially the hunters that set them up.

TheNintegaGuy: In that case, we follow the traces of Electro, we find Razor. Lumine, can you use your Elemental Sight to find more traces of the energy?

Lumine: *nods* I'm on it.

Using her Elemental Sight again, she sees more Electro energy leading further into Wolvendom before gesturing to the others to follow her.

Lumine: This way!

She leads them up the pathway into the forest until the energy led them to yet another hunter trap.

Paimon: Look, there's another trap up ahead! And can you feel the Electro energy, too?

The trail didn't stop there however as it continued on with our heroes following it closely.

Jordanwolfboy9743: This trail seems like it goes all the way into Wolvendom. Let's just hope that wherever it leads ends up being pleasant.

The more that they were walking, the more traps that they noticed that were set all over the place as it was getting the group a little bit anxious.

TheNintegaGuy: Okay, seriously... What's with all the traps in Wolvendom?

Shadowlight2784: I don't know... but now I'm kind of worried... Razor!

He called hoping that his friend would respond to him. The rest of the group help out with this as well.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Razor! You there? ...Please, don't jumpscare us...

TheNintegaGuy: Razor, you okay?!

Lumine: Razor! It's the Honorary Knights! We came to see you!

Paimon: Raaazooor...! Are you there?

Further up the path, they traveled, continuously calling out for Razor. Just before they were about to give up on calling out to him, they heard the sound of two familiar voices on a nearby outcropping of stone. Heading in the direction they came from, everyone simultaneously felt their anxiety vanish as they found the wolf boy himself speaking with Springvale's top hunter and Diona's father, Draff.

Draff: Alright! The last trap has been set. Razor, thanks for coming with me all this way.

Razor: It's okay. My legs are strong... Hmm?

He stops and looks off to his left before sniffing the air, confusing Draff.

Draff: What is it, Razor?

Razor: *sniff* It smells... familiar. Friend, from far away.

Paimon: Razor!

She happily called out with a wave of her tiny hand when the group finally got close enough to spot him, gaining their attention. They all walked up the path to join them as they all smiled warmly at both of them.

TheNintegaGuy: Hello to you as well, Draff.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Looks like we didn't need to worry much after all. You two hunting together?

Draff: Yes, it's almost harvest season, and the boars are venturing into the towns and wineries looking for food. They're trampling the crops and destroying the vineyards. Someone could get seriously hurt. The Knights of Favonius came to us for help keeping the boars a safe distance away from the population.

Razor: I and Uncle Brown Cat, catch boars, protect everyone.

Shadow smiles a little from this.

Shadowlight2784: Seems like both of us are warming up to two things around here. I'm getting used to Wolvendom a lot more and it seems like you don't hide away from the hunters anymore.

Draff: *chuckles* You can say that again! Razor was the star of the show this time. He let the wolves know we'd be coming, so we were able to get through Wolvendom without anyone getting hurt.

Razor: Helping everyone, helping lupical, makes me happy. But... much talking. Very tired now.

Jordanwolfboy9743: In my opinion, that's still a big step for you, buddy.

Paimon: *nods* Yeah! But um... Actually, we came here today because Shadow has some really important news...

That came as a small shock to the wolf boy who turned to the Monarch Knight himself.

Razor: News? What news?

Shadowlight2784: The... eye opening kind.

Not wasting another second, he tells Razor about what was written on the note. When he finished, Razor stood completely stunned.

Razor: Oh... I... don't know.

It was now Shadow's turn to feel shocked.

Shadowlight2784: Wait. You... You don't want to know about your real parents?

Razor: I want to know, but... don't want to know.

TheNintegaGuy: That... sounds really paradoxical, buddy.

Not wanting things to get more awkward, Draff stepped in.

Draff: Honorary Knights, come and take a look at the trap I just placed. Let's give Razor some space to process things.

A bit reluctantly, the group all walked with him a bit of a ways from Razor who resorted to having a staring contest with the dirt beneath him.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Sounds like you've got something on your mind there, Draff.

Draff: *sigh* Yes, I have some thoughts about all this after seeing how Razor reacted. We've been hunting together a lot recently. The kid might not talk much, but still, I feel like I've come to understand him a little over the time we've spent together. Here's what I think... He definitely wants to find out about his parents. It's just that his fear of the unknown is overwhelming everything else he's feeling. I'm a father myself, so I know a thing or two about kids.

TheNintegaGuy: That makes sense. You've got Diona, so you'd know for sure what's going through Razor's mind.

Draff: You know, when Diona was little, if I got back late from a hunt one night, she'd be watching me like a hawk for days afterwards, as if she was worried that I might abandon her.

TheNintegaGuy: Wait... really? She never told me that. Actually... now that I think about it... she'd never admit that.

Paimon: Do you mean Razor's worried that he was abandoned by his own parents...?

Draff: Exactly. I think that's the heart of it. And if it turns out they did, well. I don't think there's anything we could say to console him. That's not my only concern, though... Razor is developing at his own pace. There are lots of issues that can't be solved all in one go, but he's making progress, one step at a time.

Shadow lets out a small hum as he eyes Razor out of the corner of his eye to see the young wolf boy looking down, likely still contemplating about the letter that they just told him about.

Draff: But now this thing with his parents is added into the mix... It might push him to want to figure out once and for all where he comes from and where he's going.

Jordanwolfboy9743: That seems like something similar to what Lisa said.

TheNintegaGuy: Then again... Master Jean did say that it's more about trusting other people and trusting your own instincts.

Feeling conflicted, they both turned to their edgy friend who noticed them turn towards him as he raises an eyebrow.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Shadow... what do you think, pal?

Shadow takes one more look back at Razor and his stoic expression doesn't change seeing Razor still feeling conflicted himself. He ponders the options for a second before turning back to the rest of his friends.

Shadowlight2784: He's going to have to face this head on sooner or later... but as his friend, I'll be there to make sure that he gets the message.

Draff: Gotcha. Well, knowing that he's got a friend like you to rely on makes me feel much better about this whole thing.

Lumine then thinks for a second before getting an idea before she turns to the others.

Lumine: Guys, I've got an idea! How about this?

She secretly discusses her plan with the others including Paimon as they all listened intently on how to approach Razor with this situation. After a moment, everyone nods in agreement with this idea.

TheNintegaGuy: That could work.

Paimon: Right, let's head back. We don't want to keep him waiting.

They all turned back towards the young wolf boy who was still pondering about Varka's message to him.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Hey, pal. What's going on in your head?

Razor: Still thinking... My heart, it feels strange... like being stabbed by Wolfhook.

Shadowlight2784: Got any opinions on Varka?

Razor: Varka? Hmm... Tall, very strong, likes to laugh.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Heh, sounds like my kind of guy.

Lumine gives him a soft jab to the ribs to tell him to quiet down.

Lumine: Then... do you trust Varka?

Razor: *nods* Yes. Trust. He's very good to me. Give me a name, teach me to fight. But now... busy with important work... I miss him.

Shadowlight2784: You know, Razor... Varka put a lot of words onto that note, so much that he had to write on the back, but the guy still made some room to tell Lisa to give you the things left for you by your parents. That tells me that they would have a significance that only you would find special. Whatever you discover though, just know this: We're all here for you no matter what.

TheNintegaGuy: *nods* He's right, Razor. With friends like us by your side, we can assure you that everything is going to be fine.

Draff: That's right! And old Uncle Brown Cat's here to support you as well.

Razor smiles from everyone's kind words.

Razor: ...Okay. Thank you. I decide... I want to go with you, to see teacher.

Draff: *laughs* That's the spirit, kiddo!

He then faces the Honorary Knights.

Draff: Well, you folks had better be heading off then. I'm just about finished here, so I'll be heading home very shortly myself. I'd better try to get plenty of father-daughter time in before the Weinlesefest starts. *sheepishly chuckles*

Nintega smirks while putting his hands on his hips.

TheNintegaGuy: *chuckles* Be sure to tell Di that I might show up to scratch her ears out of nowhere~

Draff: *laughs* I'll be sure to! Stay out of trouble, all of you.

Paimon: Bye, Draff! See you next time!

She and the others wave him goodbye before they began their walk out of Wolvendom. They make it back to Mondstadt and head to Jean's office in the Knights of Favonius headquarters where they find Lisa still residing there as she smiles when they enter.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Hey, Lis! We brought Razor with us!

Razor: Hello, Teacher. I'm here, to see the box.

Lisa: Ah, my little wolf cub's in a good mood. I'm assuming they've discussed the whole story with you already?

She asked before turning to the table next to her where a large wooden box was resting.

Lisa: Here, this is it, the wooden box. I haven't touched it, except for taking it out of the cabinet. When you're sure you're ready, you can open it yourself.

Razor nods, determined to see what's inside.

Razor: Yes, I am sure.

He strides over to the box and immediately opens it, but what he found inside was rather a shock to everyone. Inside the box was nothing more than a few random nick nacks or pieces of junk.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Is... Is this it? I... would have thought there'd be another letter or something.

Paimon: Uh oh, you don't think that... after all this time, Varka might be getting mixed up between different boxes?

However, Razor sniffs the contents in the box and notices something peculiar.

Razor: *sniffs* There is a scent.

TheNintegaGuy: A scent? What kind of scent?

Razor: A scent I remember from a long, long time ago. It's... their scent.

Everyone's eyes widen a bit as they could tell who Razor was referring to.

Razor: Human scent... Father and mother's scent.

Even Lisa was impressed that Razor was able to recognize the smell of his parents.

Lisa: Incredible... You still remember scents from all the way back in your childhood.

Paimon: Wow, you have a really good sense of smell, Razor. Guess being wild by nature has its advantages... Let's see what other leads we can find!

TheNintegaGuy: Well, let's see... We've got... a woolen hand puppet along with a couple of balls of yarn. A flask that's unopened. And... wait, what's that?

Shadowlight2784: That's a piece of a Ruin Guard, but... it looks more homemade than usual.

He then picks up the wine bottle and shakes it to see that there was still some liquid inside.

Shadowlight2784: This wine bottle is also still half full... Hopefully, not expired though...

Shadow then sees the note taped on the wine bottle before he reads it out loud.

Shadowlight2784: "Thousand-Wind Wine"

Lisa: Oh, so it's a bottle of Thousand-Wind Wine?

Shadowlight2784: Apparently... if that's what I just read...

Razor: Teacher, you know?

Lisa: Of course. Thousand-Wind Wine was the first kind of wine that Mondstadters ever learned to make, or so they say. As to how it got its name, some say it's a reference to the numerous ingredients used to make it, while others say it's because every bottle tastes slightly different. I remember reading somewhere that there are all sorts of weird and wonderful ways of brewing it, and that it's very difficult to ensure it comes out tasting the same each time.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Heh, I bet it's a nightmare for wine merchants to commercialize it then.

Lisa: *giggles* My thoughts exactly, honey~ Wine merchants are much more comfortable working with reliable, consistent-tasting products. That's why you'll almost never see Thousand-Wind Wine in the markets or taverns.

She turns back to Razor.

Lisa: In fact, it looks like your parents brewed this bottle themselves.

This gives Shadow an idea as he turns to his friend.

Shadowlight2784: If his parents made it then... surely it wasn't for no reason. If the scent he smelled earlier was from his folks, it's likely they knew Razor would recognize it. So why not what's in the bottle too?

Lumine: *nods* I agree. Razor, why don't you take a smell and see?

Razor: Okay.

Shadow takes the top off of the bottle before setting it down in front of Razor so that he can see if there is another scent that he recognizes. He sniffs a little more thoroughly than usual, but as he did, a smile slowly formed onto his face.

Paimon: Huh, he seems really in the zone... and is that a smile?

Lisa: Find anything?

Razor: Sweet, cold, a little bitter... I like. Many things, all mixed together. But, things in wine, smell different...

Paimon: Even you can't tell what it is, Razor?

TheNintegaGuy: Hmm, try it one more time. There has to be something hidden somewhere if it's a scent that you like.

Razor: *nods* I will try again.

He turns back to the wine bottle before sniffing it once more to see if there was anymore clues... but by the looks of it, there wasn't as all Razor did was let out a small hum as he couldn't think of anything.

Lisa: It's okay, Razor, don't push yourself too hard. What do we do when we try something and it doesn't work?

Razor: Try... another way.

Lisa: *smiles* That's right. You still remember what I taught you.

Lisa then gets an idea.

Lisa: It's almost the Weinlesefest. Everyone who knows anything worth about wine will be gathering in Mondstadt. Surely someone will know a thing or two about Thousand-Wind Wine.

Paimon: Ohh, great idea!

TheNintegaGuy: *whisper* 100,000 Mora says Venti will be there.

He whispered to Jordan and Shadow who both smirked back at him.

Lisa: Make sure you don't miss the opening ceremony, cuties. Everyone will be there. Razor, you should go too – it'll be a good opportunity to ask around.

Razor: *nods* Okay. Ask many people... I will try.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Don't sweat it, Razor. We'll still be there to help you out.

Shadowlight2784: *nods* What he said. Just consider us as your go-betweens, similar to how you are with the wolves or Draff for that matter.

Lumine: *giggles* That's an interesting comparison, Shadow. But he's also right, Razor. We'll be there with you. Just like we promised.

The wolf boy smiles and nods to his friends.

Razor: Okay. Then, I will go back now. I need to tell lupical about human mother and human father.

Paimon: Great! See you at the opening ceremony!

Everyone bidded each other farewell for now as they left Jean's office, ready to wait for the next couple of days for the Weinlesefest to start.

A few days later, the gang had got up early in order to prepare themselves for the Weinlesefest soon. While they were waiting, Shadow and Lumine decided to be the ones to run a few quick errands while Nintega and Jordan were sitting down at a table playing Genius Invocation TCG. Nintega stared down at his cards with an annoyed growl while Jordan waited somewhat impatiently.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Why don't you attack with Kaeya?

TheNintegaGuy: Shush! Don't help me! I just... need to figure this out myself!

Nintega replied, pointing a finger over at his blue friend while still looking down at his hand of cards, trying to form a strategy. He growls under his breath again before Jordan sighs and stands from his seat.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Well... call me when you make your move. I'm gonna go for a run.

Not giving Nintega time to reply, Jordan activates some of his Anemo power and runs up the side of one of the buildings before reaching the top and hopping over to the next. He does this for the next minute or two while Nintega remained looking at his cards. He lets out another annoyed growl before he gasps when he thought he had an idea. Using a few cards, he powered up his Kaeya and attacked Jordan's Diluc, dealing enough damage to take it down as he smirks up triumphantly.

TheNintegaGuy: Looks like Diluc's down and ou- H-HUH!?!?

He finally notices Jordan's absence and looks around frantically.

TheNintegaGuy: W-Where'd Jordan go!?

His eyes eventually tracked down Jordan who was still jumping around from rooftop to rooftop as Nintega grabs his cards and holds them up, waving them at his friend.

TheNintegaGuy: Hey, Jordan! It's your move!

Either the Savior Knight didn't hear him or he was flat out ignoring him, but Jordan kept on jumping around the rooftops, annoying Nintega somewhat.

TheNintegaGuy: You're not giving up, are ya!?

He shouted which finally got the attention of his friend. He looked down at him with a smirk before skidding himself to a halt, but unfortunately, he misjudged how far he would go as he sailed right off the roof. In his panic, he tried hovering mid air to make it back to the roof, but gravity took control and he plummeted downwards with a cartoonish yell as a loud crash and a cat yowl followed. While Nintega initially cringed from how painful that sounded, he soon met that up with an annoyed groan.

TheNintegaGuy: That's just great! I've gotta take the guy to Barbara yet again!

After some quick healing and some more waiting until midday, the entire group was finally around Springvale where the opening ceremony of the Weinlesefest was being held. The residents of Springvale, a couple of Knights of Favonius, and even Razor were there as Jean stepped up on a small stage to give her opening speech.

Jean: Thank you, everyone, for your patience. I am pleased to announce that this year's Weinlesefest has officially begun. We hope that the residents of Mondstadt and visitors from all over will enjoy the magnificent wines and experience the joy of the harvest. When Windcoming Day arrives, we will hold a grand toasting ceremony to welcome the Anemo Archon, Barbatos, back home.

Some of the Honorary Knights turned to each other with raised eyebrows as Venti was the Anemo Archon and already home. Nonetheless, they shrugged their shoulders as they, along with Jean and Diluc are the only ones who know about this.

Jean: Let the Wind lead!

Everyone: Let the Wind lead!

Pushing through the crowd just a bit, the Honorary Knights reached Razor and greeted him.

Paimon: Razor! You're here already.

The wolf boy gave her a silent nod, but also looked a little nervous.

Razor: Mmm... So many... people...

Shadowlight2784: Let's get you away from the crowd then. There's someone we need to find anyways.

Razor: Find? Who?

Paimon: Just some tone-deaf bard.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Well, not just a tone-deaf bard. He knows everything regarding Mondstadt... especially when it comes to wine as drinking is pretty much his hobby.

TheNintegaGuy: Which... I'm not so sure if I can call it a good or bad thing.

Lumine: I think I just saw Venti over by one of the market stands nearby, so the search shouldn't be too hard at all.

The group began their search for the disguised Anemo Archon himself and it didn't take very long for them to find him as his turquoise bard outfit made him stick out like a sore thumb... and also the fact that he was over by the bar.

Paimon: Hey, Tone-Deaf Bard!

Jordanwolfboy9743: Long time, no see, Ven!

Hearing his nicknames being called, Venti turned around and eagerly met his friends with a smile.

Venti: Honorary Knights, Paimon, how do you do? *chuckles* I had a feeling I'd run into you soon, during this most enchanting of festivals.

Shadowlight2784: *sarcasm* As if "wine" wasn't already a clear indication why...

Paimon: Spoken like a true poet... Hmm, but reading between the lines here - if one bottle is tipsy, and two is merry, just how many is "enchanting," exactly?

Venti: *chuckles* Oh, don't say that. This festival has so much more to offer than just drinking.

Jordanwolfboy9743: *smirks* Even more than drinking? That's unexpected, even from you.

Venti: *chuckles* Hey, even I can practice moderation sometimes too, ya'know.

He then looks to see that Razor was among the group and smiles at him.

Venti: Anyway, hey, Razor! How have you been?

Razor: Alright. I have... a question.

TheNintegaGuy: A question that all of us are kind of curious about actually. Given your knowledge, does Thousand-Wind Wine ring a bell?

It was immediately a hit as Venti grins a bit before putting a finger to his chin and looking up into the sky pondering the name of the wine.

Venti: Ooh, now there's a name that takes me back. Let me think... how long has it been since I last heard someone mention Thousand-Wind Wine?

Shadowlight2784: Razor's parents left him with some half-full wine bottle that had the label of "Thousand-Wind Wine" on it.

Paimon: We heard there's a lotta history behind this type of wine, and the brewing methods go way, way back, so we figured you'd be a good person to ask.

Razor: It smells good, but... don't know, what's inside.

Venti: I see, I see, so you want to know how Thousand-Wind Wine is made? Well, you came to the right person. I happen to know a little rhyme called... well, as it happens, "Thousand-Wind Wine."

Jordanwolfboy9743: *whisper* Isn't... that a little on the nose?

He whispered to Nintega who rolled his eyes playfully.

TheNintegaGuy: *whisper* This is the same guy who'd rather play songs than fight a mob of hilichurls in his face... I don't think it's that much of a surprise at this point...

Venti: I was going to save it for Windcoming Day, but far be it for me to deny an early serenade to a friend in need. How about it? Shall I recite it for you?

Razor: A song... Not easy to understand, but still want to hear.

Venti: *smirks* Excellent answer. Then, ahem, hear it you shall:

Summon his lyre, he plays a gentle tune while reciting the poem.

Venti: "Fill up the barrels and store them away, Then wait, wait for a windier day. Wax the bottles, seal them tight. For the south wind that soothes, for the north wind that bites. How does this fine wine taste to the tongue? As 'Mondstadt' to the ear: like a sweet dream of freedom. And what are the fruits that went into the brew? An explorer's courage, a love tender and true. A defender's will, strong as yesteryear, Joining the thousand winds in a song of good cheer, Turning sour into sweet, bitter notes fade away, As we wait, wait for a windier day."

When he finished, the Honorary Knights, Paimon, and Razor all applauded Venti for the stellar retelling as he chuckles from the adoration.

Venti: *chuckles* Thank you so much for the applause. Was the rhyme of help to you?

Razor: Like wine, a little sweet, but now, head spinning. Don't understand.

He admitted, not really comprehending the whole poem while the others didn't quite catch on either.

Jordanwolfboy9743: Yyyyeeeaaah... that... didn't really have anything to entail the details of wine making now that I think about it.

Venti: Haha, well, maybe it's a little abstract and romanticized, but that's one of the defining features of Mondstadt poetry.

Lumine: So there's hidden clues inside the poem? Hmm...

TheNintegaGuy: Let's try and decipher them then.

Paimon was the first to try and it was already harder to figure out the meaning of the poem, let alone remember it.

Paimon: An explorer's courage, a love tender and true, a defender's will, and... the thousand winds'... "song of good cheer"...

She then shakes her head.

Paimon: Nope, Paimon has absolutely no idea what any of these refer to!

Shadowlight2784: *sighs* Come on, Venti. The least you can do is go straight to the point instead of making this all fun and games right now...

Venti: You misunderstand me. I'm not trying to make you work for it or anything, but the lyrics are what they are. If there's anything left out, even I can't fill in the blanks. If you want to know the secret behind the sweet scent, you might have to start by rolling up your sleeves...

Shadow takes this a little literally as that's what he was about to do until Lumine smacks him on the head.

Lumine: That's not what he meant and you know it!

Shadowlight2784: Hey, I'm braindead enough to take things literally. You should be used to that by now!

TheNintegaGuy: Wait... "Roll up our sleeves?" So we have to make this wine ourselves to find answers?

Paimon: ...This better not be a prank!

Venti then fakes sadness from Paimon suspicions by putting a hand to his face.

Venti: We've known each other for so long, and you still don't trust my intentions? Oh, the pain...

Razor: ...I trust. I... want to try. I want to... make wine, and find answers. If I know how to make wine, then I know what is in father and mother's wine.

Lumine: By reliving their actions, maybe we will understand what kind people they were.

Razor turns to Lumine and nods at her suggestion.

Razor: Right. I want to... know about them.

TheNintegaGuy: Looks like we don't have a choice then. Well... lucky for you guys, I'm a bartender at the Cat's Tail alongside Diona, so I may know a thing or two about making some wine. However, since we don't have her with us, there's no guarantee if it'll turn out good or bad.

Little did any of them know, a certain cold Sister of the Cathedral and girlfriend to Shadow was listening from nearby as she walked away before any of them could catch onto her being there. However, that didn't stop Shadow from noticing as he caught her out of the corner of his eye, leading to him smirking to himself.

Shadowlight2784: (She just can't help but eavesdrop, can she~?)

Venti: Don't worry, really. Freedom is the key here. It's not as hard as you might think. As long as you add ingredients to the mix in a spirit of joy and sincerity, I promise you will reap the rewards you wish for.

Razor let out a hum while smiling slightly.

Razor: I will tell poem to teacher. Then... I need to think alone.

Paimon: That's the spirit. So, how about we meet again in two days? Let's say same place, right here?

TheNintegaGuy: Good idea, Paimon. That'll give me some time to think about what could possibly be the ingredients for Thousand-Wind Wine.

Razor: Okay. I will remember. See you then.

Jordanwolfboy9743: *chuckles* We're at a festival and we're not going to at least have a little bit of fun? Let's put the wine-making business aside for a little while and spread out to see what the Weinlesefest is serving... other than wine that is...

The rest of the group smile at Jordan's suggestion as he has a point. They've got some time to waste for two more days. They might as well enjoy some of the festival while they were at it.

Lumine: I'm with Jordan on this. I wouldn't mind having a little fun while we're here.

TheNintegaGuy: *chuckles* "Fun" is my middle name.

Shadowlight2784: I thought your middle name was Nintega...

Nintega deadpans at Shadow for a quick second before turning back to the group.

TheNintegaGuy: Anyways, let's split up for now and enjoy the festival. Plus, I bet we can learn a thing or two more about wine in Mondstadt while we're at it.

Everyone grins from this before they all depart including Razor as they went to go and enjoy the festival to get their mind off of all of the business going on right now.

To Be Continued.
