Chapter 21: Fantastic Voyage

Yet another day in Mondstadt had come by as things were pretty quiet for the City of Freedom. It had been some time since Nintega had started working at the Cat's Tail alongside Diona and Margaret and he had to say, it's been a pretty smooth experience so far. The neko bartender herself was actually a pretty good teacher for she taught him how to make all kinds of drinks; non-alcoholic ones at that for obvious reasons. Within that time, he'd really gotten along well with her... aside from the times when he'd call her Tsun-Kitty, of course, leading to Diona nearly wanting to scratch his hair out. However, due to not having any claws, she couldn't do that, thus having to deal with Nintega's constant teasing.

It was the middle of noon today in Mondstadt as the entire group was walking back into the city as Jordan was laughing while Nintega had a grumpy look on his face. Apparently, while they were scouting, Paimon accidentally ate the food bait that they had planned for some hilichurls and it ended up pretty unlucky for the fearless leader as he got beaten up by a Mitachurl for 10 minutes straight.

The crew was strolling along the plaza as Nintega was stomping in an annoyed mood and Jordan was just snickering the whole time which angered Nintega.

TheNintegaGuy: It's not funny, Jordan!

Jordanwolfboy9743: Come on! 10 minutes straight getting beaten up by a Mitachurl?! It's totally funny!

Nintega glares at him before he spots a certain Spindrift Knight in the distance clearly waiting on someone as she was adjusting her hairpin. Nintega smirks deviously before looking back at Jordan.

TheNintegaGuy: Oh, yeah?

Nintega takes a step over to Eula from behind as he lifted his hand up and smacked Eula's posterior causing the woman to blush before covering her butt with one hand and swiftly turning behind herself with a beyond infuriated glare.

Eula: YOU DARE-

TheNintegaGuy: He did it!

Nintega points over to Jordan whose eyes popped open in shock from this accusation and of course Eula believed him as she growls before summoning out her giant Cryo sword making Jordan gasp before screaming and running. Eula chased after him and off screen, punches and kicks could be heard along with Jordan whimpering in pain as Nintega was smirking the whole time while Lumine, Shadow, and Paimon winced. Jordan got thrown back over to them, falling face first onto the ground.

Jordanwolfboy9743: *muffled groan* Oh, come on...

TheNintegaGuy: Is it funny now?

Jordan glares back up at Nintega before noticing a certain purple witch girlfriend of his as now it was his turn to get a smirk on his face. He looks to see a lone book on a table before he throws it straight at Lisa's head which decked her and nearly caused her to trip.

Lisa: OWWW!

Lisa then instantly turns around with an Electro-infused glare as it was sending chills down everyone who was looking at her. To say that she was angry was an understatement as the Electro magic was radiating off of her body like a storm cloud.

Lisa: *through clenched teeth* Who... THREW THAT?!

Jordan immediately pointed at Nintega who yelped in fear. Lisa, being Jordan's girlfriend, believed him too as Lisa grabbed Nintega by the collar before dragging him behind the corner of a nearby house. The sound of screams, electricity, and explosions could be heard as off screen, nothing could be seen, but purple Electro magic being sparked. When Lisa was done, she took a deep breath before holding Nintega up from his back collar before walking over to the crew and Lisa dropped Nintega who was scuffed from head to toe, being fried from electricity.

Jordanwolfboy9743: *smirks* Yep... Still funny...

Nintega growled in response, dusting off the soot from his body.

TheNintegaGuy: *sarcasm* Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up, why don't you? *sincerely* Luck wasn't exactly on my side during that fight, alright? Also, the REAL one at fault here is the floating emergency food!

He points a finger at Paimon who's jaw hits the floor.

Paimon: W-What?! How was that Paimon's fault?!

TheNintegaGuy: What part of, "This food is being used as bait!" did you not understand?!

Paimon stomps the air with puffed cheeks.

Paimon: H-Hey! Paimon can't help it if there's good food around! Besides, it's your fault for making it so delicious looking!

TheNintegaGuy: That was the idea! No monster's gonna go for some burnt or undercooked Sweet Madame!

Shadowlight2784: Although... no one was asking you to showboat when you thought you took down that Mitachurl with one punch.

Lumine: Yeah. I mean... it kinda took that as a distraction if you ask me.

TheNintegaGuy: Hey, who's side are you guys on here?!

The rest of the crew looked at each other before back to Nintega.

Jordan, Shadow, Lumine, & Paimon: The right side?

Nintega dramatically falls backwards from his friends singling him out to which some of them laughed at.

TheNintegaGuy: I knew I should've spent my time today with Mona instead...

Jordanwolfboy9743: Why? Cause you simp for her~?

Nintega sits back up with an infuriated glare with puffed cheeks.

TheNintegaGuy: One, I AM NOT A SIMP! Two, I had a choice and I took my chances with you guys instead! Which was apparently the wrong thing to do given how unlucky I've been...

A smirk makes its way onto Shadow who crosses his arms.

Shadowlight2784: I told you bad luck is real!

Nintega just deadpans back at Shadow.

TheNintegaGuy: I didn't mean it in the superstitious way...

Shadowlight2784: Well, you should. This IS a gacha game, so it's all about luck.

TheNintegaGuy: Okay... in what part of this now is gacha?!

Shadowlight2784: I don't know, the entire game?

Lumine and Paimon gave each other strange looks as the floating girl just shrugged her shoulders at Lumine not knowing what they were talking about at all.

Lumine: Look, bad luck isn't something to be ashamed of, Nintega. Everyone goes through it at one point or another.

Paimon: That's right! Paimon can get SUPER unlucky a bunch of times too!

Jordanwolfboy9743: *smirks* Like when Noelle mistook you for a floating baby doll~?

She spins around and gives him the stink eye.

Paimon: You just had to rub it in, didn't you?!

TheNintegaGuy: Guys!! It's not luck, it's all just a coincidence! I'm not walking under a ladder, passing a black cat, breaking a mirror, or stepping on a crack to prove any of that either... *sigh* I'm telling you, there's no one in this town who can literally define the word unlucky!

He then proceeds to walk off on his own, leaving the rest of the crew to think a little bit about what Nintega said, if they should believe in superstitions or not too.

Paimon: Hey, Paimon has an idea. What if we try to find a heads up Mora?

Shadowlight2784: ...Aren't those double-sided though?

Nintega was walking around the plaza by himself before he looks over and spots Katheryne over at the Adventurer's Guild. He thought to himself and after having some bad encounters earlier just freelancing, he could use some real action around Mondstadt that involves a job. He walks over to the Adventurer's Guild and when Katheryne notices him, she smiles.

Katheryne: Hello, Nintega. Ad Astra Abyssoque.

TheNintegaGuy: *nods* And an Ad Astra Abyssoque to you too. If there's any commission that you have down. I can do one if needed. I need to actually get something responsible done today.

Katheryne: Oh! Well, what a fortunate coincidence.

Nintega raises an eyebrow before Katheryne looks ahead of him and Nintega turns where she was looking to see another young man that looked to be a little bit younger than him run up to the Adventurer's Guild. It was a boy with white hair and green eyes who was wearing cuffed navy shorts and a sleeveless cream-colored jacket with blue and gold details, a leather belt, a bag with his Vision attached to it, gloves, a yellow bandanna tied around his right arm, and goggles on his head. This is Bennett, the unlucky, but happy-go-lucky adventurer in Mondstadt.

Bennett waves over to Katheryne with a confident smile.

Bennett: Hey, Katheryne, so what's-

Bennett then looked over to notice Nintega and when he did, he immediately recognized him as he grew a grin on his face while putting both of his hands on his hips.

Bennett: Ah, it's you! Didn't think I'd be running into you here... Hehe, I guess it's my lucky day...

Nintega looks back at him after hearing his voice and continued with the "playing dumb" act that he, Jordan, and Shadow have been doing since they wound up in Teyvat.

TheNintegaGuy: Oh, uh... do I know you?

That question went unanswered as Bennett proceeded to start fanboying over meeting Nintega for the first time.

Bennett: How're your adventures going lately? Did you come here to get a new commission from Katheryne, or to get paid? And where're you going after this? Bet you've got a really exciting adventure lined up, huh?

TheNintegaGuy: Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa! Easy there, buddy. One thing at a time. First off, who are you?

Realizing that he nearly overstepped boundaries, Bennett rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.

Bennett: Ah... I'm talking too much, aren't I...? I'm sorry... The name's Bennett! I was just so excited to run into someone I admire so much... And, uh... maybe a little starstruck, too... haha...

His nervous chuckle went unnoticed by Nintega as he was more surprised at the fact that Bennett just stated that he actually admires someone like Nintega.

TheNintegaGuy: You... admire me? The Hero AND Leader of the Honorary Knights?

Bennett: Of course! You're one of the mysterious travelers, the Hero Knight who helped quell the Stormterror crisis, and the leader of your own adventure team to boot! If I'm being honest... I'm totally jealous of all of your achievements...

Nintega was still a little surprised to meet a big fan of his right here at the Adventurer's Guild, but that didn't stop him from being encouraged by Bennett's words to grin back with his fists on his hips and accept the praise.

TheNintegaGuy: *chuckles* I mean who wouldn't? It's not everyday that you just walk into a city and just battle a giant dragon. By the way... you said that my team has become even more popular around Mondstadt now?

Bennett: Yeah, word's been spreading in adventurer circles for a long time now. Your adventure team shows up all over the continent... It might look like you're just handling a bunch of boring commissions, but then, as soon as something big goes down, you're always there!

TheNintegaGuy: Heh. Well, call it a coincidence or don't, nothing will stop my team and me from defending Mondstadt no matter how big or small the problem is.

Hearing Nintega's confidence was enough to get Bennett's blood rushing as he didn't know how to respond to his idol other than another awkward chuckle with a smile.

Bennett: Anyway, I just really envy you. You're sort of like... the protagonist of this world, or something. Hahaha...

TheNintegaGuy: (Shadow... um... What exactly do I respond to this with...?)

Bennett: Me, on the other hand, I'm just some unlucky guy. My adventure team even...

He goes silent for a second until he shakes his head suddenly.

Bennett: Ah- never mind, I shouldn't get all down in the dumps in front of someone I admire. I should be open to see what I can learn!

He remembered something else and looked at Nintega once again.

Bennett: Speaking of which... I have a favor to ask...

TheNintegaGuy: Sure. What would that be?

Bennett: Um... when you go adventuring later, can I come and watch?

Admittedly, Nintega was kinda weirded out by Bennett's question as he furrowed his brows.

TheNintegaGuy: Like... do you plan to just stand a ways away and watch me fight some monsters or...?

His confusion made Bennett nervous, leading to another scratch to the back of his head that he dealt with.

Bennett: Eh-hehe.... Maybe you don't know. I'm a really unlucky person to have around... If you brought me along on an adventure, my bad luck would probably just screw everything up! I don't want to get you into any trouble, so just let me watch from the sidelines... that'd be good enough for me...

TheNintegaGuy: Well... to be honest...

He too gives the back of his head a scratch nervously, looking away as he did.

TheNintegaGuy: I... haven't really been getting a lot of good luck myself lately.

He then crosses his arms with a determined smile.

TheNintegaGuy: But I don't let that wear me down. Besides, there is NO way that you can be an unlucky person, Bennett. So, if you really wanna see the Hero Knight on an adventure, I'd be happy to let you join me!

That was certainly not the answer Bennett was expecting for his eyes nearly popped out of his head and his jaw almost slammed into the ground.

Bennett: Really? I didn't mishear you, did I? You mean... go adventure with you, just like we'd do if I was on your adventure team?

TheNintegaGuy: If it means that much to you, I'd be happy to help a fellow adventurer!

He reaches out and offers him a handshake. Bennett stared for what felt like a whole hour before his grin returned and he grabbed Nintega's hand with both of his hands, shaking it more than enthusiastically.

Bennett: Wow! I never thought I'd get an opportunity like this!

The aftermath of the enthusiastic handshake ended up with Nintega's arm wobbling a little bit as he had to shake it in order for it to get back in line. Nintega chuckles before putting both of his hands on his hips again.

TheNintegaGuy: *chuckles* By the looks of it, you don't seem like any other of the adventurers that I've met! You look like you have even bigger potential as evidenced from that high amount of bravado that you give. It gives me an even bigger reason to let you accompany me as not just a fan of the Hero Knight, but also a fellow adventurer too.

Hearing Nintega praise him like this causes Bennett to blush a bit, feeling embarrassed to get such compliments.

Bennett: Aw, shucks... hearing you say that has got me all flustered, hehe... but I'm happy to hear it!

The determined adventurer then just remembered something as his embarrassment immediately vanished.

Bennett: ...By the way, since we've got this rare chance to work together, let me share some recent intel with you! According to my friend Fischl in the guild, a mysterious and dangerous ruin has recently been discovered.

TheNintegaGuy: Mysterious AND dangerous? That sounds like a job for the more elite adventurers like me.

Bennett: Based on how the Guild ranks the difficulty of its commissions, it's probably between a Rank B and a Rank A. Normally, I wouldn't feel confident about taking on this level of commission... After all, with my poor luck, it's safer for me to take on commissions that are a few notches lower than my actual ability, haha. But, since you'll be joining me this time, it'll be a piece of cake, right?

TheNintegaGuy: Hmm... that depends. Does taking down Stormterror count as an S-Rank commission?

He asked, smirking.

Bennett: Of course! Fighting Stormterror puts you on par with Guild Master Cyrus in my mind.

TheNintegaGuy: *chuckles* Well, it was no laughing matter. I was able to lead that team along with the Acting Grand Master to ultimately have one of my best friends be the one to take him down!

Bennett: Oh, man! You've gotten me even more excited for this! If you're the one leading this journey, then I doubt that I'll have anything against your orders! By the way, this ruin might be a dangerous one, but that usually means there'll be some great treasure hidden inside. I can't wait!

He was getting ready to head to the gate before remembering one last thing as he turned to Nintega.

Bennett: Oh, uh... do you usually make some food before you set out on an adventure?

TheNintegaGuy: Unless, it's a snack for my small, talking traveling companion. Nope. I can go with an empty stomach for about an hour or two.

Bennett: Oh! I guess you're such a pro that you don't need to worry about that, huh? Awesome... Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!

Bennett immediately turns and darts off while Nintega just smiles at Bennett while shaking his head with a playful laugh.

TheNintegaGuy: (That guy has so much optimism that it reminds me a little of Jordan. How can a guy like him be unlucky?)

Nintega and Bennett's journey took them back to one of the temples that was explored during the Stormterror incident, The Temple of the Wolf. Like what was explained by some other adventurers, the temples that were formerly explored by the Knights of Favonius were now hotspot domains for any adventurer to go exploring for any kind of treasure or completing any commission they please. Both guys were inside and not a sense of fear or dread overcame either of them.

Bennett: It feels pretty ordinary here... I was expecting some kind of sense of impending doom.

TheNintegaGuy: You're not the only one. Usually, that's what I love to see out when I'm adventuring or fighting as it motivates me to push to my limits.

Bennett: Wow. No wonder they call you the fearless leader. Nothing seems to break your courage at all.

As Bennett says that, he puts a finger to his chin wondering that maybe that's why he doesn't feel scared either.

Bennett: Could it be that because you're here with me, I'm feeling more at ease? Hehe...

TheNintegaGuy: *chuckles* Whether it is or isn't, I'm not letting any sense of danger make us turn around.

Nintega then pounds a fist into his palm.

TheNintegaGuy: Besides, I walk on the wild side and laugh in the face of danger and death.

He proceeds to make a playful, mischievous laugh after that which made Bennett laugh a little too.

Bennett: If danger and death were actually real, you'd definitely tick them off. But I'm even sure that's not enough to scare you from the action.

TheNintegaGuy: So this place became another sight for adventurers to explore, huh? You know, each time you walk into these temples, it's like a different dimension each time. Like the place is moving.

Bennett: Eh, if it has treasure or something interesting each time it changes. I'm not complaining. As long it doesn't mean more bad luck for me.

TheNintegaGuy: I'm sure that's not the case for someone with your positive attitude.

Bennett grins from the compliment while putting his hands on his hips.

Bennett: Heh, you flatter me.

Bennett then looks ahead for a second into the temple and points forward through one of the pathways.

Bennett: I've caught the scent of treasure in the air! Come on, let's go!

Not waiting around any longer, Bennett eagerly jogs further into the ruins with Nintega right behind him. They headed up a few flights of stairs until they reached a room with two switches as four lasers surrounded them in a rectangular formation.

Bennett: This room's setup seems to be somewhat tricky. The things that stand out are the two mechanisms in front of us, one on the left, and one on the right.

Nintega's gaze went to the lasers, taking note of how fast they were going.

TheNintegaGuy: Those are a bit problematic, but it does seem like we could still get past them if we're careful.

Bennett: If my years of adventure experience are anything to go by, it would be a disaster if we activated the wrong mechanism. *chuckles*

TheNintegaGuy: *smirks* Sounds to me like you've got a plan already.

Chuckling once again, Bennett faced him with a smirk of his own.

Bennett: Seems like you already know me well. How about letting me try it out first?

TheNintegaGuy: You sure about that? Looks pretty dangerous for just one person.

He warned, still smirking.

Bennett: Hmm... I could try it out myself... But... what do you think we should do? Let's do it your way!

Looking at both switches, Nintega let his mind put together a plan and when he did, one was able to take form, causing his smirk to widen.

TheNintegaGuy: Alright. Let's try activating both switches at the same time.

Bennett was a little unsure of that plan, but after taking note of Nintega's confidence, he was soon convinced.

Bennett: Well, that's a possibility... yeah. Let's try it then! I'll take the right side, you take the left!

The two of them then proceeded to make their way to the switches while avoiding the lasers. As they did though, Bennett apparently somehow tripped clumsily on his own as he took a tumble onto the floor and he was right next to a laser that was aimed at him which Nintega noticed with worry.

TheNintegaGuy: Bennett!

However, Bennett was fully prepared for this outcome as he immediately rolls forward to avoid the laser before looking towards Nintega with a thumbs up.

Bennett: Don't worry, I've got this!

He said while still having a smile on his face. Nintega was rather impressed that Bennett was nearly seconds away from being split open by a laser, yet he just shook it off like that was something that usually happens with him. The trip was rather weird to him too as they were walking on near flat ground.

TheNintegaGuy: (Nah... That couldn't have been bad luck... It would've been much worse if that was the case.)

Nintega thought this with a shrug before turning his attention back to the switch. He sees that Bennett was right in front of his as well. They both put their hands on the switch without pressing down on them before they both turn their heads to each other.

TheNintegaGuy: Alrighty. Remember, at the same time. On three. Ready?

Bennett nods back at Nintega.

Bennett: You bet.

TheNintegaGuy: One... two... three!

They both pressed down on their switches simultaneously and not only did this activate three new paths in the area, but it also deactivated the lasers that were in the room as well. Bennett was in awe that Nintega's guess was right as the Hero Knight walks up to him wearing a cocky smirk on his face while the unlucky adventurer pumps a fist.

Bennett: Cooool! The door is open. We got it right!

He then turns to Nintega with a proud grin.

Bennett: Good thing we went with your idea. You definitely live up to your reputation.

TheNintegaGuy: I aim to please.

Bennett then puts both of his fists on his hips while looking down at bit.

Bennett: And... I haven't had this feeling of working together with friends in ages. I've really missed it, hehe.

Nintega noticed the slight hint of sadness in his voice, but he couldn't really question it due to Bennett turning back to him with yet another smile.

Bennett: Anyways, let's move on.

The two of them jogged their way through the temple a little bit more, but when they advanced onto the next room, the sight turned into quite a shock for both of them. Unlike the last room, this room had double the amount of mechanisms which means that there would be no way through this one without a full party.

Bennett: Oh... so this room has... Four mechanisms. Which means...

TheNintegaGuy: The two of us aren't going to be enough to advance on through this one.

Bennett crossed his arms in some thought.

Bennett: That's what I'm thinking, based on the last room... I think we're going to need four people to trigger all the mechanisms at the same time.

TheNintegaGuy: If my friend Shadow was here, he'd likely have a solution to make this much easier.

Bennett: And I don't have a team of my own... *sigh* If only the rest of Benny's Adventure Team were here...

TheNintegaGuy: You've said something about Benny's Adventure Team twice and that the other members left, but... what's that all about?

Bennett: ...I hate to admit it, but... The truth is... it's gone. It remains in name alone.

TheNintegaGuy: Wouldn't that qualify as not being relevant for the Adventurer's Guild in that case? No offense to you at all, you're a great adventurer, but... just you?

Bennett: The only reason Katheryne hasn't deregistered "Benny's Adventure Team" is because she took pity on me. In fact, *sigh* The number of adventurers on the team has been below the registration requirements for a long time already.

TheNintegaGuy: So... you're all alone then?

Bennett sheepishly rubs the back of his head, but Nintega could hear a little bit of a guilty laugh from him too.

Bennett: Haha... yeah. Royce, Heckler, and Jack were all members of Benny's Adventure Team. A lot of things went down, but mostly it ended because of my bad luck.

Nintega's eyes widened from this as while he didn't believe in good or bad luck, Bennett is making it a lot more believable for him now.

TheNintegaGuy: (Wha... No freaking way... His luck is THAT bad?!)

Bennett: I completely understand why they quit the team. I'd never want to put them in danger on my account. *sigh*

Donning a caring smile, Nintega placed a hand on Bennett's shoulder, getting his attention for the moment.

TheNintegaGuy: You know... I'm sure it wasn't your fault that your team up and left, Bennett. In fact, I'd say it was their loss for leaving because it's not like you can control your own luck like it's a dog. Heck, I don't even like to see it as luck at all. It's just unfortunate circumstances if you ask me.

He then remembered the events from earlier involving that Mitachurl, leading to a sigh escaping him.

TheNintegaGuy: Although... I can understand what you're going through. Lately, things haven't really been that fortunate for me. This incident with the Mitachurl almost left me in literal stitches, I nearly got blasted to death by lightning thanks to Mondstadt's resident witch, and... I had the WORST time just getting Mona and Eula to agree to being in a polyamorous/harem relationship with me.

Bennett: Oh, yeah. That has been the talk of the town for some time previously where people were saying that the Hero Knight and the Savior Knight were in multiple relationships at once. I thought that was some new fairy tale made for Mondstadt at first, but is that actually true?

TheNintegaGuy: *smiles* Rumors can't beat the real deal. It's all true. Just ask Mondstadt's astrologist or the Spindrift Knight yourself and they'll confirm it for you too. But anyways, what I'm getting at is that you don't have to feel alone when it comes to your situation, and if it turns out that bad luck truly does exist then I'd be willing to endure it with someone who gets it as well.

The unlucky adventurer was taken aback by all of what Nintega. Never had he thought that the Hero Knight of all people had been having such a bad time recently. This made him feel a little better about himself in not being the only unlucky soul around Mondstadt. In other words, Bennett was very much moved as he slowly let himself smile again, placing his hands on his hips.

Bennett: You know... I think you might just be the first lucky thing to have happened to me in a long time, Hero Knight Nintega.

TheNintegaGuy: *smiles* I just might. Also, just call me Nintega.

Nintega wraps an arm around Bennett and offers him a fist bump. Bennett was a little shocked and almost embarrassed that he didn't need to be so formal with one of Mondstadt's heroes. Nonetheless, he grins back at Nintega and fist bumps him back.

Bennett: Thanks... Nintega. Even though I'm the only one left on Benny's Adventure Team... One day, I'm gonna make sure its name is known all over Teyvat!

TheNintegaGuy: I'm sure you can do it, Bennett! Trust me, if I wasn't already the leader of my team, I'd definitely join Benny's Adventure Team even with your constant bad luck!

Bennett felt embarrassed again from Nintega's overwhelming confidence as he rubbed the back of his head with a small blush.

Bennett: Hehe, thank you.

They both then decided to face the puzzle in the room as they needed to figure out how they're going to solve this with only two of them here.

Bennett: Let's focus on the problem at hand... Ah, sorry, the thought of the adventure team got me all sentimental.

TheNintegaGuy: No need to apologize pal.

An idea then comes to Bennett as he crosses his arms pondering about the puzzle.

Bennett: Now that I think about it more carefully... Maybe we're making too many assumptions about the solution of these mechanisms.

Nintega raises an eyebrow from that prediction.

TheNintegaGuy: You mean... maybe this is different from the previous room?

Bennett: *nods* Exactly. Okay, I'll take a quick look at these mechanisms while you look around for any other clues.

Giving him a nod, Nintega turned and began sweeping the area for anything useful to help solve this puzzle. The first few places he checked yielded no results, but the last place provided him with something potentially useful. After searching close to some boxes, Nintega found a dusty old adventure notebook. Smiling, he turned and jogged back over to Bennet, handing it over when he got to him.

TheNintegaGuy: You think this has something we can use?

Bennett: An adventurer's notebook? What's it doing here...?

He asked, taking a look at the cover.

Bennett: Maybe it's got some clues on how to crack these mechanisms! Shall we take a look?

His partner nodded in reply before Bennett flipped open the book, quickly skimming through some of the pages until one stood out. Although there was a lot to take in, some of the words held details on how some of the mechanisms were supposed to be operated.

Bennett: Whoa... It really does have some information about them.

TheNintegaGuy: Hmm... I'm not sure why, but I'm getting some weird feelings about this.

Bennett: *nods* I agree. It seems that the writer is holding something back.

Bringing back his smirk however, Nintega brought up a fist.

TheNintegaGuy: Still, no matter how ominous it is, we've gotta try to see this whole thing through to the end!

Bennett: *chuckles* I'm with you there! Well, since they've placed their hopes on future adventurers, we can't let them down.

He looks back down at the note and reread what was written within.

Bennett: The notes say that the mechanism at the entrance needs to be controlled by someone continuously... But if the mechanisms are activated in the wrong sequence, the person in charge of the mechanism at the entrance will...

He went silent, finding it hard to finish what it said.

TheNintegaGuy: They'll... They'll get really hurt, won't they?

Bennett gives him a nod.

Bennett: Yeah, I guess that's what the notes are referring to when they say... "Eric can't hold on anymore"...

Nodding, Bennett grinned over at Nintega and what he said next sent him nearly falling over in shock.

Bennett: Anyway, I'll take that role.

TheNintegaGuy: What?! Not on my watch, you aren't! Besides, whoever said that it had to be you?

A chuckle escaped Bennett.

Bennett: It's okay, it's okay. Getting injured is just part of my daily routine. I'm pretty used to it by now. At the very least, I should be able to last longer than this Eric guy. *chuckles* And more importantly, I trust you! You can definitely crack this mechanism puzzle, right? I mean, come on! You're the great Hero Knight that I've always admired.

Nintega was floored by just how much Bennett was willing to put himself through such pain to the point where he took a second to rub his head in deep thought.

TheNintegaGuy: Bennett... you realize just how crazy you sound right now, right?

Bennett: *chuckles* That I do, but I'd rather have it be me than you.

TheNintegaGuy: Well... if you say so... But I'm stepping in if things are about to get fatal for you!

Bennett: Alright, alright, let's just focus on solving these mechanisms! Remember what the notes say... Hmm...

He flips open the book again so that he and Nintega can reread the hint on how to solve this puzzle in front of them. There were three switches in a large tile floor with torches around them. One had a single one, another had two, and the last one had three. They skimmed through the book before Nintega points to the section of where the hint was.

TheNintegaGuy: There! "The number of torches is not the hint of the activation sequence... Perhaps... the sequence is related to the position of the torches on the ground."

He hummed and rubbed his chin, trying to solve this puzzle in his head.

Bennett: Well, don't put too much pressure on yourself just because you're afraid I'll get hurt! Just go with your gut and do it.

Nintega nods at Bennett before he walks down to the tile floor with the switches and he looks around at all three switches and honestly... he didn't know in which order they were supposed to activate or what exactly the words regarding the position of the torches.

TheNintegaGuy: Now I REALLY wish Shadow was here...

Nintega looks at the switch that had only the single torch on it and he decides to walk on over to that one first before he nervously extends his hand over to it and activates it... only to hear the sound of lightning strike along with a cry of pain from Bennett back at the entrance.

Bennett: Ow!!

TheNintegaGuy: B-Bennett!

He turned around, only to see Bennett just holding onto his knees weakly while still standing on both of his feet. He pants before slowly holding up a thumbs up to Nintega.

Bennett: Argh... It's okay, it's okay. If this is as bad as it gets, I can handle it.

Nintega was worried for Bennett's safety now as he needed to press the correct switch now or Bennett's going to be the one who's a living lightning rod. He tries to think hard about the phrase again before looking at all three of the switches before he suddenly notices a pattern between the torches as he looks at the third one with all three torches first.

TheNintegaGuy: (Wait... it said it had something to do with the position of all three torches... which means...)

Nintega's eyes widen with a gasp as he turns to the switch with all three torches on it and walks over to it. Bennett sees this with widened eyes as he braces himself for more lightning in case it was incorrect as well. However... Nintega presses the switch and this time the switch glows with nothing happening at all.

TheNintegaGuy: (Those torches were in a position that was the exact position of how all three switches are in the room. Therefore, this was the first one to activate... Now onto the second one...)

He looks at the torches again carefully to see which one he needed to activate next. Nintega looked back and forth, but he noticed that the switch with two torches on it was not the one that he needed to activate, but rather it was hinting on which one he needed to press next.

He goes over to the switch with one torch on it and presses it down with Bennett having a little bit of anxiety, but it quickly goes away when he sees that nothing also happened when Nintega pressed this switch as well. Nintega smirked before throwing Bennett a thumbs up to which the adventurer threw another one back at him. Once the last switch of the puzzle was activated, the entire room lit up a little bit before a light travels past Nintega and Bennett to then show a Luxurious chest that was unlocked thanks to their thinking and teamwork. With his confidence restored, Nintega headed back to check on Bennett who was in awe from Nintega's feat.

Bennett: You... you solved it?

TheNintegaGuy: Sure did! And it was all thanks to you, Bennet!

Sure enough, his excitement was shared with the unlucky adventurer who now felt the same way.

Bennett: Haha! That's the great adventurer I'm talking about! Awesome!

He then pointed to the Luxurious chest all the way at the other side of the room.

Bennett: Let's go and open that chest, shall we? I can't wait!

Nintega and Bennett then immediately sprint on over to the chest as they were both eager to see what was inside. When they both opened the chest, the two immediately dug inside for what mysterious treasures were hiding inside of this temple. Nintega was the first one to pull some of the stuff out and he was rather excited.

TheNintegaGuy: Check it out! This book is called Guide to Resistance! It's a talent book meant to help you grow your potential through combat! And I also got...

Nintega pulled out the next thing that he called dibs on as it was a basket with a piece of cloth covering it. He looks at the basket confused before uncovering it to find... a bunch of rice buns in a basket.

TheNintegaGuy: Wheat rice buns?

Nintega doesn't know how long they've been in there, so he decides to take one out and taste one of the buns himself. Surprisingly... they weren't stale and were somehow still warm too which made Nintega hum and nod in approval.

TheNintegaGuy: Hmm. Still warm. Not bad.

Bennett searched through his side as he was able to find a bag of Mora. It may have been small, but just the fact that he found something like that made both the ends of his lips and his spirits rise up.

Bennett: Wow, this is quite a haul! This must be the proudest moment for any adventurer!

TheNintegaGuy: And it's probably the best luck you've had in a long time, isn't it?

He asked, smirking back at him and gaining a nod from Bennett.

Bennett: Sure is! Not only getting the chest, but having this golden opportunity to join you on an adventure. For me, that's a pretty major treasure already, hehe...

TheNintegaGuy: Trust me, the feeling is completely mutual. Adventuring is a lot more fun when I'm able to do it with someone else and you're definitely one of those people, Bennett.

Bennett: Really?! Then I'm honored, haha.

He said with a thumbs up and a bright grin.

Bennett: But there's one other thing that I find to be the most amazing of all...

TheNintegaGuy: And what's that?

Bennett: ...The fact that nothing really bad happened to us this whole adventure. This is the first time in my whole adventure career that it's ever turned out this way!

TheNintegaGuy: *chuckles* Well, while they say that there's a first time for everything... No one knows that this might be the only time either. This is just one of many possible outcomes for you in the future too.

This came as a slight surprise to Bennett as he crosses his arms.

Bennett: That sounds very deep... but I think I get what you're saying. You're saying that no matter how unlucky I might be, there will always be times when luck is on my side, right?

TheNintegaGuy: Exactly! Things may seem unlucky for you at times, but it can always come back to help you. You just need to keep holding onto that hope.

Bennett: Yeah... This is a really big thing for me. And you know, I have a feeling that...

Nintega tilts his head.

TheNintegaGuy: That...?

Bennett cracks a smile and continues.

Bennett: ...It was your kindness and goodwill towards me that helped me avoid a lot of bad luck... even find a little good luck...

He chuckles and gives a thumbs up to Nintega.

Bennett: It's a bit embarrassing to say that out loud, but all in all, thank you, Nintega... for everything!

Nintega blinked a little bit in awe of Bennett thanking him before he grins back at him.

TheNintegaGuy: I'm just doing what I can to help those who need it. This has been so much fun for me too, Bennett.

Bennett: Me too. I hope we can go on another adventure like this one soon.

TheNintegaGuy: Same here.

The two of them shared a brotherly handshake and hug, patting each other on the back before Nintega looked down at the rice buns that he got from the chest. While there were a bunch of them, he was probably not hungry enough to eat all of them by himself.

TheNintegaGuy: Hmm. While these rice buns are delicious, I doubt I'm going to finish them on my own. You want some Bennett?

Bennett thinks for a second before shaking his head politely.

Bennett: Nah. I actually think the thrill of our adventure together ruined my appetite.

The two of them chuckle as Nintega did indeed say that it was okay to go without food before the adventure. Nintega then thinks to himself a little bit more.

TheNintegaGuy: Hmm. Well, it's probably near sunset by now, so my friends have likely eaten too. Hey! Maybe Mona might like some of these! Hopefully she hasn't been starving herself again.

Bennett: *chuckles* Sounds good to me! I'm sure she'd appreciate it.

TheNintegaGuy: Well in that case, let's head out of here before our luck runs out.

Bennett: Hehe, hope that's not the case. I don't want this lucky day to end anytime soon.

When Nintega and Bennett made their way out of the temple, they immediately parted ways in Mondstadt as Bennett was going to go tell Katheryne about the commission he finished and the treasure that he found with Nintega. Nintega, however, was on his way to Mona's laboratory as when he arrived, he walked up the steps and knocked on the door three times waiting patiently for his astrologist girlfriend. It takes a couple of seconds before the door opens and out comes Mona to which Nintega gives a closed eye grin at.

TheNintegaGuy: Hi Mona~! I brought you some rice buns for us to eat if you want some!

However, when Nintega opened his eyes, he sees the strangest reaction from Mona as she wasn't making any eye contact with him, her face was completely red as if she was either hot or extremely embarrassed about something, and she was holding onto one of her twintails nervously. Nintega gives Mona a questionable look from this reaction.

TheNintegaGuy: Mona?

Mona: O-Oh! H-Hello, Nintega... U-Um... W-Want to come in?

TheNintegaGuy: (She's usually not this anxious with me...) S-Sure...?

Nintega walks inside still a little weirded out by Mona's strange greeting, but it must've been something she'd dealt with already or something that she saw while performing her predictions, so he decided not to ask for now.

They were both sitting down at a table together, enjoying the rice buns that Nintega found with Bennett as they were, there was some awkward silence in the room which Nintega didn't fail to notice. He would notice that Mona would fidget a little and sometimes even scoot a bit away from Nintega which was just all the more strange. The thing that was the strangest was that Mona would often have her hands down in between her thighs and rub them nervously.

TheNintegaGuy: Okay... You're not usually this quiet... Did something happen that I should be aware of, Mona?

Mona was actually afraid that Nintega was going to ask that question as her eyes widened and a blush overcame her face. She darts her eyes around, thinking of some excuses that she could come up with to dodge the question.

Mona: I-I just... had to deal with this really big spider in my bookshelf. *nervously chuckles* I-It was... really big and scary. J-Just had me a little spooked, that's all.

Nintega just furrows his eyebrows at Mona while chewing on another rice bun.

TheNintegaGuy: Okay, I'm scared to death of spiders too... but we both have elemental powers... if it's enough to slice a hilichurl up then what's a tiny arachnid going to do?

Mona: I-I... Um...

TheNintegaGuy: Hey, I may be your boyfriend and disciple, but that doesn't mean that I can't see through deception either... especially when it's plain obvious... Are you hiding something from me or... did you see something in your predictions that I should be aware of?

Mona freaks out from the latter question as she waves her hands around frantically.

Mona: N-No! W-Well... y-yes, but... I-It's... not really the most... "dignified" prediction that I've had a few moments ago before you arrived.

This caught Nintega's attention as he raises an eyebrow before turning to Mona confused.

TheNintegaGuy: Wait, so something's supposed to happen now? And what do you mean by... "dignified?"

Mona was starting to sweat as she didn't know how to explain this in words.

Mona: Y-You... I'm... We're supposed to... *sigh* M-Maybe... it's better if I just show you instead...

Mona looks away and reluctantly lifts both of her hands to activate her hydromancy as Nintega scooted closer to her to take a look and see what Mona's vision in the stars was for this moment going on right now. It looks like inside of the vision, we see Mona walking down some steps as it appears that this took place about 5 minutes right before Nintega arrived.

(Vision)

Mona is seen walking down some steps yawning and stretching as she had just got done taking a nap before walking over to the table that she was going to sit at with Nintega in just a few minutes.

Mona: *relaxed sigh* I still can't get over how much better it is to rest on my own bed here than from the inn in Liyue. Though perhaps I shouldn't entirely take Mr. Zhu's hospitality for granted given that I had to live there for weeks until Nintega came.

She sits down before getting ready to pull up another rune to see what the stars are going to predict for her this evening.

Mona: Now let's see what the stars are going to lead me down for this upcoming evening.

She gets ready to do so, but not before she hears a knock on her door which interrupts her and confuses her as well.

Mona: Wh-Who could that be at this hour?

She stands up before walking over towards the door to open it and when she does, she's greeted by Nintega who was carrying the same exact rice bun basket as in reality. He had a bright smile on his face to which Mona couldn't help, but be lovestruck by.

TheNintegaGuy: Hi, my beloved astrologist~! I thought I'd bring you some dinner!

Mona: Nintega...

She said nearly having her heart skip a beat, but she was able to keep her cool by shaking her head and acting like her usually prideful self as she clears her throat.

Mona: Ahem... There was no need to, my disciple. I-I was just about to go out and get food myself... Although, I still thank you for taking the effort to get me some anyway. You may enter and make yourself at home.

Nintega grins and walks in and just like now, they were both sitting down and enjoying the wheat rice buns that Nintega brought for both him and Mona to eat. As they were both eating, Mona was trying to concentrate on reading her predictions, but almost every minute that she decides to look up at Nintega, she would find him staring at her with a smile. She didn't mind it at first, but soon it started to confuse her a little as she raises an eyebrow at him.

Mona: (He's been staring at me for the last few minutes...) *gulps* Um... Wh-What is it, Nintega? Is something wrong?

TheNintegaGuy: No... You just look really beautiful today, Mona~

The compliment alone was enough to get Mona's heart thumping in her chest and for her face to light up in a blush. She turned away for a second before looking back at Nintega from the corner of her eye.

Mona: I uh... W-Why're you... T-Thank you, Nintega...

Suddenly, in a move that shakes her whole body right down to her core, Nintega took hold of her chin gently and smiled warmly at her, gazing into her eyes.

TheNintegaGuy: May I kiss you~?

Mona's entire body froze up as she just gazed up at Nintega blinking twice with a face full of red. However, she slowly grew a nervous smile before she nodded with her eyes closed.

Mona: Yes...

Hearing that approval, Nintega smirked before pulling Mona towards him and they both proceeded to makeout with each other for a bit as they both wrapped their arms around each other and slowly, their kiss got a little more aggressive and intimate before they had to pull away for some air and Nintega gazes back into Mona's eyes once again.

TheNintegaGuy: I'd like to spend the night with you, if that's okay with you~

Now in a completely lovestruck state, Mona could only stare back and slowly nod.

Mona: I... yes... yes, I'd like that...

They both then proceeded to continue kissing, but this time, Nintega began to start taking some of Mona's clothes off and she was doing the same to him.

(End of Vision)

Back in reality, Nintega was watching this whole thing unravel with a huge flustered blush on his face while Mona was too, but she was looking away the entire time, not wanting to see Nintega's reaction to her fortune reading. All that could be heard left were moans and that was when Mona made the vision disappear as now Nintega looked back and forth between Mona and the now vanished fortune reading that was in front of him. He now completely understood why Mona was so quiet and didn't want to explain this to him as the stars basically predicted that the two of them were supposed to be intimate with each other right about now.

TheNintegaGuy: Th-That... I-I... I-I can't... It shouldn't... Wh-Why...

Mona: I-I know what this looks like and before you say anything else... I-I... do think intimacy is necessary for one's mental health and well-being.

TheNintegaGuy: I... um... I-I agree... but... neither of us should feel forced to do this just because some prediction said that we would! Don't get the wrong idea, I really do love you, Mona, but... i-is this really something that YOU want to do?

Mona nervously crosses her arms while looking away.

Mona: B-Believe me, I'm just as conflicted as you are. B-But my predictions are never mistaken so... I think it's bound to happen either way. Th-Though perhaps to confirm if we're compatible with each other... M-Maybe we should! F-For research purposes of course!

In response, Nintega gained a small smirk.

TheNintegaGuy: Oh... and here I thought it would be out of love.

Mona: T-That's not what I meant! O-Of course it would be out of love too! I-I'm just saying that-

A small chuckle from Nintega could be heard and he waves her off.

TheNintegaGuy: Just kidding. Just kidding.

Mona: *sighs* Even now... you try to mess with me. I guess that prediction wasn't far off either...

TheNintegaGuy: S-So... do you still... want to?

Mona stands up on both of her feet before looking away to not make any eye contact with Nintega, but she nods without a word. Nintega stands up before walking over to Mona and he nervously put both hands on her waist.

TheNintegaGuy: So how should we start this...? J-Just like in the vision or...

Mona: I-I don't think it matters as long as we... perform it properly...

With that being said, the two of them finally face each other with Mona placing both of her hands on Nintega's chest while the fearless leader placed his hands on her waist. They both stared at each other for the longest minute inching their faces towards each other. Before they could however, Mona had one last thing on her mind.

Mona: H-Hey... Nintega?

TheNintegaGuy: Yeah?

She looked away momentarily before gaining a small smile and looking back at him.

Mona: I love you.

Similarly to what went down inside of the vision, Nintega could feel his heart thumping hearing her be the one to say that to him. He then smiled back at her before reciprocating the same line to her.

TheNintegaGuy: I love you too, Mona.

They both proceeded to lean in and kiss each other on the lips as it ended up being a slow makeout for some time as both of their tongues swirled around in each other's mouths for a minute. As they did, Mona's arms slowly began to rise up and they wrapped themselves around Nintega's neck and Nintega's hands made their way down to grope Mona's butt, making her moan in pleasure.

When they ran out of air for a second, both of them stared at each other lovingly while panting and catching their breath... before they both proceeded to pull each other in again, but this time a lot more aggressively as they both moaned a lot more during this kiss. As they did, Nintega felt Mona's leg rise up from underneath him as one of his hands went down and lifted it up. However, what surprised him next was that Mona was trying to lift her other leg as well, wanting Nintega to fully lift her up.

Nintega does not refuse this offer as he takes Mona's other leg and lifted it up so that Mona can wrap both of them around Nintega's back for him to pick her up with both hands. As they continued with this makeout, Nintega carried Mona back up the stairs until they reached her bedroom. When he went inside, Nintega breaks the kiss and drops Mona onto the bed while removing her hat from her head to stare at her with a loving smile.

TheNintegaGuy: *panting* You know... for the record... I've always thought that you were beautiful from the moment that we met, Mona...

Just like with the vision, Mona felt her heart thump rapidly as well, placing a hand over it with a warm smile.

Mona: *panting* W-Well... although I didn't realize it at the time... I... I thought you were very handsome as well, Nintega...

Nintega grins back at Mona before they both lean their foreheads against each other, locking their fingers together in hand holding.

TheNintegaGuy: Then I guess that settles it... I'm compatible with you after all...

Mona: Well... I think we need to run a few more... "tests" just to be sure... wouldn't you agree~?

Nintega smirks from that question before he proceeds to take his jacket off and throw it to the side. Mona smirks as well, taking both of her gloves off before placing both of her hands on Nintega's cheeks to kiss him passionately once more. The two of them then dived down on the bed with each other and proceeded to do what wasn't shown inside of the vision.

A little bit later, when it was full nighttime, Nintega and Mona were trying to catch their breath under some covers looking extremely satisfied with what went down for the last couple of hours.

TheNintegaGuy: W-Wow... I enjoyed that a lot more than I thought I would...

Mona was almost at a loss for words for how good she felt as her hair was sticking out all over and her face dissolved into pure ecstasy.

Mona: M-Me too~! You know... I look forward to the next time a prediction says that we'll do this again or... maybe this is how I'll repay you at times from now on as your girlfriend.

Nintega frowns a bit from that last sentence as he eyes Mona with a questionable look.

TheNintegaGuy: Wait... What?

Mona: Well, as your girlfriend, it seems like the most appropriate thing to do, no? You do a lot for me, I can repay you with as much as something like this.

Nintega raises an eyebrow from this before he suddenly sighs with his eyes closed before getting a serious look as he fully turns in bed to Mona and makes her turn towards him as well.

TheNintegaGuy: Mona... Listen to me, I don't need you to repay me for giving you food, for lending you Mora, or even just being your boyfriend. The only time you should ever want to do this with me is when you actually WANT to do it, not because you feel like you owe me. I don't wanna treat you like an object, Mona. You're a person and you have feelings like I do and I want moments like these to be nothing but us sharing our love for each other.

Mona: B-But you-

TheNintegaGuy: Do you understand me? I wanna do these kinds of things with you because I LOVE you, okay? Not out of repayment for anything and I mean anything!

Mona was at a loss for words for just how serious Nintega was being right now. She couldn't believe that this guy about the same as her age is only committed on not only being her disciple on astrology, but also just as a boyfriend as well. So much that a couple of tears started to form in her eyes and she hugs Nintega while burying her face in his chest. Nintega was surprised by the gesture, but he could tell that Mona understood him loud and clear as evidenced from the sniffling that he heard from her. He then hugs her back tightly with a small smile as they proceed to cuddle with each other.

Mona: *muffled* T-Thank you, Nintega... I-I love you... I love you so much!

She said with her face still buried within Nintega's chest as he simply grinned and petted her head.

TheNintegaGuy: I love you too, Mona. I'll be both a great disciple and boyfriend for you... that's a promise.

This day turned out to go for a quick 180 for Nintega as from the start, he had constant bad luck, but up to now, he can definitely say that good luck was on his side and he shared it with both Bennett and Mona. Meeting such great people in Mondstadt has led the four travelers to wonder just how further can they either develop their relationship with these people or even have more adventures with them until the day comes when they have to leave. Until then, they're going to make the most of their time with their friends and new significant others.
