Chapter Seventeen: The Talk
Emily's POV
"Who are you?" he asked right as I sat down. "Emily Barnes, environmental activist and analyst," I replied, holding the phone to my ear. "Ugh, what do you want?" he grumbled.
I smiled, "I want to make Ninjago a better place, a better environment for anyone and everyone, that's what you were trying to do, no?" I wondered.
"Alright, listen cupcake, Ninjago has fallen apart, how about you take your cheerful little self and go tryout for the spirit squad," he snapped, hanging up the phone.
I sighed, I have to use a different approach, an aggressive approach. I quickly grabbed the photo that I copied from the posters and billboards around Ninjago and shoved it onto the glass separating Rett and I. He turned around from getting up and looked at the photo, sitting down immediately and picking up the phone. "Emma Brookstone, twenty years old, sister to ninja, Cole Brookstone and Alyssa Brookstone, although Alyssa's role is not presumed," I told him. "Lost somewhere, the ninja were supposed to be protecting their young friend, but they ultimately failed. Trying to find a new enemy, the ninja were distracted just long enough for Emma to be taken away, and found was she not," I added.
"Keep going," he directed. "Ninjago is falling down, I know that. But I believe I can finish what you started. To make Ninjago great again for Emma, or was it to take Ninjago back for the people? Hm? Well, I can use my skills to convince the city that we need to take Ninjago back for us, and not the ninja, since they so carelessly are at fault with Emma's disappearance," I planned.
"What else do you got?"
"I start of course with the city, convince them that we need to make the city better for when Emma comes back, planting trees, picking up trash, everything that matters in the world. The city council is in dire need of an environmental analyst, if I make as much a name for myself I can get hired there, work my way into convincing the inside. I'll make sure everyone believes that the ninja are at fault for Emma and that we need to make Ninjago better. The people will soon be led to understand that Ninjago is ours, not their's. Once everyone is convinced, the real hardship starts. I'll continue to campaign a better Ninjago with small community gatherings, I'll speak at schools and rallies, I'll hold rallies for goodness sake! But in all honesty, the people will get anxious, start to hate the ninja, riots will begin, the rebellion will blossom. And my face will be on it all, how one person can make a difference for the better. Once they believe I am their friend, I'll take it as Ninjago is for the people, and no one will give favor to the ninja, what protectors don't protect?" I summed up.
He was at a loss for words and I smirked. I grabbed my phone and stood up, "I'll talk to you later," I said, hanging up the phone. I walked away with a grin on my face and when I glanced back, he was grinning as well, still sitting at the booth.
Let it begin.
