Chapter Eight: The 60 Day

Alyssa's POV

"Two months," Jay whispered under his breath, pulling himself over the pull-up bar. I glanced back, dropping my head, my eyes lowering to the ground. I pushed my body up, lowering myself back down in a repeated pattern. I grunted as I reached seventy-four push-ups.

"Sixty-days," Kai added, clashing his katana against Zane's shurikens. "There isn't any light anymore," Lloyd mumbled, leaning with his hands on his knees. He bent back, straightening his body and looked out the window, searching for his girlfriend to walk through, he does this everyday.

Cole didn't say anything, he just tossed me a soft glance, continuing his crunches on the wood flooring. I took a deep breath and stood up, waving out my sore and tired arms. I stepped back, looking at a punching bag in front of me. Slowly, I raised my hands and clasped them in front of me.

Hot air, I thought, focusing my eyes on the air around my hands. The room became humid around me, the ninja stopped training and looked at me. I quickly released the abnormal temperature and took a small step back, I jumped up and roundhouse kicked the black bag, it swinging on its chain back and forth.

I shook out my left foot and placed my hands on the bag, holding it steady. I let out a huff and lowered my head, looking at the ground, the guys all stared at me, expecting me to do something else.

"I'm fine," I lied, using my air to blast the punching bag, "Sixty days, two months, all without my musical sister who taught me everything I know and brought me back to my family," I ranted.

I looked ahead and brought my hand down on six stacked boards, slicing evenly through them all with a soft grunt. "We will find her, I promised I would," Cole defended, leaning against the wall with his arms folded, "And what if we don't?" I argued, raising my voice. "We're just supposed to sit here until she walks through the door? We're supposed to act like we didn't lose our sister in another dimension? We're just supposed to let that guy win?!"

"No!" Cole yelled, then seeing my surprised eyes and lowered his booming voice again, "No... I- I just don't know, Ally. I wish I did, but I don't," he sighed.

"Why don't you play something on the flute, Ally? Get our mind off training," Zane suggested. I closed my eyes and turned around, focusing on the wall, "Emma is the musical one, remember? I'm just the flute-playing blonde, and as log as she's gone, I won't be touching an instrument. She was my muse," I retorted, stepping away.
