Chapter 19: The Start of the R
Alyssa's POV
"Hold on- no, hold on," Emily shouted into the megaphone, trying to grab the people's attention. "Let me tell you who I am," she smiled, walking on the large stage in the park.
"I'm Emily Barnes, and I have some questions for you," she spoke up, looking out into the crowd. This wasn't part of the plan, we rehearsed the script, this wasn't on it. I jerked my head at her and narrowed my eyebrows in confusion. She completely avoided my glance.
"I am here to help you, so I am going to pull one of you out of the crowd," she said. I stood up and straightened my outfit, pushing the sunglasses further onto my face. "Emma?" she wondered, looking around the crowd. "Emma Brookstone?" she continued.
I gasped, wondering what she was doing. The crowd froze and stopped moving, she definitely had their attention. I noticed a girl dressed in a black crop top with a gray jacket hanging at her sides. She had on black leggings and black combat boots, her brown hair neatly brushed underneath her red beanie.
Standing next to her was a boy in red, hiding his identity with a jacket and jeans and sunglasses. Emma and Kai, of course they would be here.
"She isn't here!" someone called out from the middle of the crowd. Emily raised an eyebrow and sighed, "Oh, that's right. She's gone, and I apologize for being so inconsiderate at this event but please tell me, is she coming back? The girl that- that I- you all loved, yeah, her, where is she?" Emily continued, and I'll admit, she can definetly catch attention and keep it.
"She's gone, Ninjago! But she is coming back!" she yelled. People in the audience hollered and cheered, "She's coming back! And together, we can make Ninjago presentable for her! Plant some trees! Water some plants! Help me make this a better place!" she encouraged.
People began clapping and hooting for Emily, and she motioned me next to her. I squatted before some potted trees and began handing them to people as Emily continued talking. "Emma is out there, it's not my fault! It's not your fault! It's their fault! DOn;t you get it, take back your power! Make this your city for your friend and loveable Emma!"
I looked up in shock at Emily, she wasn't supposed to be putting this on at the first rally. And we all knew it. I looked back at Emma in the back of the crowd to see her shaking her head with her arms folded across her chest. As people started turning around and walking back to their homes, Kai pulled Emma's shoulders back and lead her away from the crowd. She looked at me last and shook her head in disappointment. I didn't mean to start a war.
"Thank you Ninjago!" she concluded.
2 Hours Later- 8 PM
Emma's POV
I opened the door to the shop to see Alyssa and Emily putting their stuff away. I glared at my sister, "Emma, glad to see you back," Jay said, knowing I was brewing.
"How was the rally? I saw you there," Emily said with a smile, leaning against the counter. "Sorry," Alyssa mumbled. "You shouldn't be sorry, you should feel sorry for our parents, there is a difference," I snapped.
"I didn't know what was happening, I-" she began, "I didn't want to start this thing but I didn't have a say so! I want to go say hi to my parents but I don't have a say so! I never wanted to make this hard for everyone but I didn't have a say so! DO you see how hard it is to watch everyone be hurt because of me?! How hard it is to not see mom and dad?! Imagine what mom and dad are feeling!"
"I said I was sorry!"
"What if they find out it's you?!" I remarked. Alyssa didn't have an answer.
"It's fine, Emma," Emily sighed, "Stay out of it! You know, I can't live anymore with all this- this- shit going on! Just leave it be!"
"Alyssa, let's go," Cole announced, coming through the door. "Woah, hold on, what is going on in here?" he questioned. "Nothing, sorry Alyssa," I muttered, walking away from the kitchen.
I walked down the left hall to my room and slipped into my ninja gi and cloak. Turning back I brushed past the kitchen and listened to the conversation, "I did not like that, my sister is infuriated at me and I will not be hated by family, so I hope the next rally goes as planned," I heard Alyssa say.
"I'm going out," I told them, walking towards Alyssa. "I'm going to check on mom and dad, see you losers later," I told them.
