8. Pretty Noona
Raemi's point of view
"What a beautiful day!" I exclaimed while looking outside, but soon that excitement vanished when I heard neighbors fighting— and soon a couple came into my view; fighting and pulling each other's hair. I rolled my eyes and soon draped the curtains.
"So what's today's plan?" I asked myself, walking over to the bed to check my phone. "Hmm, nothing much, let's sleep then!" I was about to throw my phone on my bed when one note caught my attention.
Sale at Rainbow's Art Store.
My eyes widened, it was a mega sale! I'm almost running out of my art materials and I need them badly. The art supplies prices skyrocketed, and this was my chance to get as much as I can buy. With this, I put my phone aside and hurried toward the bathroom; removing my clothes while running. I took a quick but relaxing shower and dressed up once I was done. I didn't have time to dry my hair properly so I let my hair loose. I grabbed a t-shirt and a jumpsuit which were perfect for this hot weather. Once I was done applying the skin product, I put some cash I was saving and my phone in a bag. And with this, I was done.
I walked out of my apartment, I scowled covering my burning face. The sun was mad hot. I sighed, cursing the sun in my head. Shrugging my shoulders I started to walk towards the Art Store, walking saved enough money for my one meal so I prefer realizing instead of taking to a taxi or bus. Sure, the heated air hit my face, making my skin get. The weather was sunny and dry, making me sweat profoundly. But, even though in this fucking hot weather I wasn't alone.
There were many people on the street, walking and driving busy in their own lives. But what made me curious was the excessive amount of people out here on a scorching hot afternoon; which wasn't normal. You know, in the afternoon people generally like to remain inside of their house in a room filled with air conditioning, with cold drinks by their side. People like me have to bear this and have to go outside.
"So that's why there are so many people here." I understood when I saw huge banners and ferris wheeling in the distance. There was a summer fair hosted not far away. Now that I know a fair is here, I could hear people and children from far away. I rolled my eyes, I hate summer fairs.
First, I hate crowds of people. They give me anxiety. Especially in weather like this, with all the smelly and sweaty shit of there, they give me disgust and reasons to take a long bath. Second, I hate children. Oh, those little brats! I hate those brats so—
"Ouch!" My train of thoughts had to pull its brakes when something hit my leg and a meek voice filled my ears. Alarmingly I looked down, just to find a kid on the ground.
Out of things, I had to be a kid.
I rolled my eyes and looked at the kid who was looking at his injured knees. I was about to look away from him when he looked at me. For a second I was stunned— big fat tears were rolling down his cute chubby cheeks, lips wobbling trying so hard not to cry out loud right here and right now.
Fuck this shit, he was the most adorable broken condom I have ever seen.
"You alright?" I crouched down on his level, wiping his tears with my thumb. He looked at me with his adorable big eyes, nodding his head in no. Before I could ask him anything, he pointed in a direction, my eyes widened in fear when I looked at where he was pointed.
Stray dogs.
I gulped, trying not to show my fear in front of the child.
"So that's why you were running?" I asked him, making him nod in agreement.
"Where are your parents?" I asked him, sneakily looking at the dogs, which were still standing not so far away.
"I… I don't know." His voice wobbled as if he was about to cry.
Great, lost property. But hey, I don't mind because he's cute.
He's an exception.
"Alright, we will go to the police. They will help to find your parents, but how about we treat this? It will only take five minutes." I asked him, pointing to his bleeding knees.
"Okay." He meekly agreed after thinking for some time. "Thank you." He slowly stood up and bowed to me, making me smile.
Not only he's cute as fuck but he's respectful too.
He passed the notabrat test.
"Come on." I extended my hand, gesturing to him to hold it. His soft milking hand held mine, and he looked at me cutely making me almost let out the biggest UwU of my life. "You can walk right?" I asked him while looking at the dogs which were no longer there.
"Yes, I can." I nodded and started to walk with him to the nearest medical store.
"So…" I trailed while we walked opposite the summer fair. "What's your name?"
"Park Minwoo."
"Minwoo, nice name."
"What's your name?"
"Kim Raemi."
"How old are you?"
"I'm…" he stopped and counted on his fingers. "Eight years old."
"Cute." I extended my hand and boopped his boopable nose. "We are here." I announced it when we reached the medical store. We entered the store, and I walked to the bandage section. My eyes fell at the price of the bandages which were kept there, then my eyes fell off the cute kid, what was his name. Yeah, Minwoo but still I'm calling him that cute boy.
No doubt, he's a cute piece of sugar but I can't afford to buy these expensive bandages for him.
"Zebra print bandages?" I asked the cute boy. "These are cool." Actually, they are cheap and within my budget to spend on this cutie.
"Okay." I nodded and picked up some tissues, antiseptic, and cotton buds. After paying to do them, we walked out of the store and I made him sit on the bench under the tree.
"So, tell me something about yourself." I asked, trying to do small talk as I took out some antiseptic on the cotton bud. Of course, I couldn't afford the antiseptic which doesn't hurt when applied to wounds. Hoping to divert his mind by talking.
"Hmmm… I'm Park Minwoo and I'm eight years old. My dad's name is Park Jimin. I have a sister named Park Minhee. She is scary."
"Scary?" I chuckled.
"Yes! She is very scary, even dad is afraid of her. He always does whatever she tells him— ouch! It hurts!"
"It will hurt for a while, I'm sorry." I assured him, hoping he wouldn't cry again.
"Alright." He whimpered.
"And we are done! You're such a brave boy Minnie." I praised him once I was done cleaning and applying bandages on his knees.
"My name is Minwoo." He looked at me, confused.
"I know, but I will call you Minnie. Is it alright?"
"Okay."
"Good boy." I ruffled his hair— but our cute moment lasted short when Minwoo's stomach rumbled. A deep shade of red spread across his chubby cheeks and he tried to hide cries from his empty stomach by pressing his stomach.
"Do you like banana milk and ramen?" I asked him while looking at the convenience store which was not far away. Sure, this was out of my budget for spending on a random cute-ass kid, but again I couldn't help but spend on this cute piece of sugar.
"Yes, but I can't eat too spicy food. My lips burn when I do."
"Okay." Once again I held his hands and walked toward the convenience store. I ended up buying one carbonara ramen, one jjajang ramen, and a packet of milk in case carbonara was also hot for him, a slice of cheese because kids love cheese, and a bottle of banana milk.
I'm very aware of the fact that this entire snack is worth two meals of mine— but fuck it. I'm only going to see him this time, who knows will I ever come across him again. Prolly never, I don't think I will ever come across a kid that cute and soft and mussy and squishy.
"Enjoy!" I announced. "Careful, it's hot." I warned him and sat on the chair in front of him. I smiled and watch the kid eat his meal, even the way he eat was cute.
Gosh, I can't help. This child is the epitome of cute. So cute, it almost hurt.
I parted my eyes and focused on eating my meal, of course, I was hungry too. I skipped my breakfast to save some money for the sale which I ended up spending here— wait I forget the sale! My eyes widened, I hurriedly looked at my phone but relaxed, the sale was for the entire day. I had enough time, hopefully.
"I'm done!" Minwoo announced, which made me surprise. I was not even half done.
"You must be really hungry."
"Yes, I was. Thank you for the food." Aww.
"No problem. Let me finish mine and then we will go to the police station alright." Of course, his parents must be looking for him, and here we are. At the convenience store, eating ramen and chilling.
"Let's go." I said once I was done with my ramen. Of course, I can't just leave it. I paid for it and ask me how much hard it is to earn money. Once again, we started to walk while holding hands.
One sunny afternoon now came to end, the sun was almost setting and the breeze started to blow making the leaves dance. The birds started to fly back to their nest, and so did the people; they were also heading back to their homes. So lucky, at least they have a family waiting for them back at their home, dinner got and ready to serve. Again, not everyone has a happy family but again, at least they have someone to be called their.
I don't have one. How unlucky—
"Minwoo!"
Once again a voice brought me back to earth, gaining my attention. From a distance a saw a man, running towards me— or should I say Minwoo.
"Daddy!" Minwoo left my hand, with his hand gone; gone the warmth making me look at my suddenly cold hands. My attention diverted to Minwoo running towards a man, which soon crouched down and wrapped the small kid into his embrace.
Okay, priorities first.
That man was so fucking hot, holy jalapenos. Even hotter than jalapenos. He was the entire Jolo chip. Or 5x Ramen. Whatever you prefer.
Now I see where the genes come from, but again. Minwoo was cute, he's hot shit. Again— I'm having doubts if he's the father or not.
"How?" The man asked, in the softest voice possible.
"I don't know, some people pushed me and I ended up somewhere I don't. Then I was chased by dogs, I was so scared I ran so fast. Then I met this noona. She cleaned booboo and gave me ramen and banana milk." Minwoo said all this in his father's neck.
The man's teary eyes fell on me. He picked up Minwoo effortlessly, of course, he wasn't leaving his dad anytime soon.
"Before you assume I was kidnapping Minwoo, no I wasn't. We were just going to the police—"
"Thank you."
"Oh— No problem!" I awkwardly bowed. "Just want to ask something."
"Yes—"
"What's your name?" I asked, making the man confused.
"Park Jimin." He spoke, making me relief. He is the dad.
"Alright, I will leave. I have to go somewhere. Goodbye Minnie." I bid my farewell.
"Bye." After hearing Minwoo, I dashed toward the art store.
Of course, I can't miss the sale.
But wait— I don't have any money left

Jimin's point of view
Tears formed in the corner of my eyes, it has been evening. Minwoo has been lost since afternoon; for five hours.
Where is my child?
My eyes searched everywhere, legs running hoping to find a glimpse of my child.
What if something bad happened to him?
He would be a crying mess, crying to go to his dad. What if he got kidnapped— no! My beautiful child, he's there. I just need to search everywhere. Minwoo is smart, he must be sitting somewhere; waiting like a quiet kid. But what if— what if someone coaxed him. Told him he knows his dad, and then picked him up and shoved him in the bag. He's so small, he could easily fit in a backpack— or maybe a suitcase.
Fuck! What the actual motherfucking shit I'm thinking.
No, my child is safe— my child is safe somewhere. I just need to search for him better— but didn't I search this area like three times.
I stopped running, halting my steps. My hand went to my hair, tugging them. My heart was pounding in my chest and tears were streaming down my cheeks.
What if I never saw my baby again? What if I could never see his mochi eyes, like pouty lips. What if I couldn't hear his sweet voice and mindless talks. What if I could never embrace him—
My eyes creased when a small boy with a woman came into my view— I couldn't see anything anymore; just my child.
"Minwoo!" I yelled and ran towards him, getting their attention. Minwoo's eyes widened upon seeing me.
"Daddy!" I crouched down on his level and hugged him tightly. A sense of relief spread across my body, my pounding heart gradually slowed down when his hand wrapped around my nape and his head rested against my shoulder.
"How?" I asked, rubbing the back of his head. I meant to ask how he was, but all that came out of my mouth was just one word.
"I don't know, some people pushed me and I ended up somewhere I don't. Then I was chased by dogs, I was so scared I ran so fast. Then I met this noona. She cleaned booboo and gave me ramen and banana milk." He spoke from my crook.
My eyes fell on the woman who was standing in front of me. She was looking at us, standing there awkwardly.
Thank god my child was in safe hands.
I picked up Minwoo, I wasn't in a state to leave him anytime soon, and walked towards the lady.
"Thank you." I meant to say much more than that. How grateful I'm to her and how I could never thank her and words aren't enough for what she has done to me.
"Oh— No problem!" She bowed. "Just want to ask something." She suddenly asked.
"Yes—"
"What's your name?" Her question confused me.
"Park Jimin." I replied.
"Alright, I will leave. I have to go somewhere. Goodbye Minnie." She once again bowed.
"Bye." Minwoo replied without looking at her. After hearing him, she ran away like her rent was due. Diverting my attention from her, I looked at Minwoo who was still hugging me tightly.
"I was so scared, the scary dogs were running behind me." He looked at me with teary eyes. His voice quivered, and his lips wobbled.
"I'm sorry baby, I'm so sorry." I rubbed his back, trying to hush him. "From now onwards daddy will hold your hands, always." I whispered, kissing his forehead. "Yours and Minhee's."
"Minhee— where is Minhee!? Did she get lost—" Minwoo asked, looking here and there.
"No, of course not." I chuckled. "Minhee is at home, I can't afford to lose her too, you know."
"Oh."
"Let's go home, you must be hungry right?" I asked while walking.
"No, I'm full— wait I forgot that noona's name." He cutely pouted and put his hand on his head, trying to remember her name.
"Don't worry, ask her name next time you meet her."
"Okay! I will ask pretty noona her name next time I meet. I hope I meet her soon."
"Sure baby."
