11. Hug

I was regretting my life choices, wondering why I didn't run away when I had time. I wondered what demons possessed me that I mindlessly followed the hotshot daddy inside when he invited me to sit down.

I'm pretty sure it was his booty which hypnotized me.

I looked around, the living room was quite spacious and cozy. But did you know what was not cozy? The stares I was receiving from the small girl who insulted me a few minutes ago.

Do I look like a beggar?

I questioned myself, and looked at myself. My shoulders drooped, as I got my answer. Cheap worned out old t-shirt and jeans, I remember getting them from my boss, the lady whom I used to work for as a cleaner. She gave me her old clothes because those were not in fashion anymore. That was also years ago.

But my old clothes do not give her the right to call me a beggar.

I looked up from my hands and saw her, still looking at me. As soon as our eyes met, she rolled her eyes and jumped off the sofa and walked away— leaving me speechless.

So much attitude.

Damn, now I wonder how much of an attitude her mother would have?

Wait— this reminds me. Where is the mom?

I leaned in, trying to catch the glimpse of his mother but all I saw was the dad making tea, two kids near his legs talking about something I couldn't hear. I sat back down on the sofa, wondering.

Still at her job? Possible.

Wait—

I just realized, I was simping on a married man— and my potential landlord. Oh lord, forgive me for the sins I have committed—

My ears perked and eyes looked at the kitchen when I heard footsteps and giggles. The dad was coming at me, holding two mugs while two kids were trailing behind. I smiled when I saw Minwoo, all giggling and laughing whereas her sister… was not so happy with my presence.

"Chamomile tea." He informed me, putting the mugs on the center table, he sat on the sofa. I took a deep breath as I looked at his features again. He was still in his office attire, but that simple attire looked so hot on him.

Messy hair, rolled up sleeves and a few buttons undone— which gave me a glimpse of his collarbones.

Why was even asking for forgiveness when I haven't committed the sin.

Fuck— Raemi get that inside your head, he's fucking married and a dad of two!

"Kids." His voice made my head perk. "Go to bed, it's past your bedtime." His voice was so soft, but at the same time it was strict. The kids whined upon hearing their dad.

"But daddy," Minwoo whined. "I wanna spend time with ramen noona." His dad looked at me then back at him.

"Minwoo, it's not good to call her like this."

"But I forgot her name." He pouted, making it hard not to just stand up and squish his cheeks.

"It's alright." I spoke. "I'll introduce myself again. I'm Kim Raemi." I smiled.

"Kim Raemi?" Hot daddy asked, his eyebrows arched.

"Yes?" I asked, confused. "Any problem?"

"Nothing." He gave me a small smile, and stood up. "Let's go. Bed time means bed time." He ordered his kids, and they whined again.

"Can I at least hug her?" Minwoo whined again. His dad hesitantly looked between us.

"It's fine." I stood up, and crouched down to hug him. His small hands wrapped around me which made me sigh. I closed my eyes and hugged him back. He parted with a big smile on his face, which made me smile.

"Good night." He waved and turned around, walking to his room I assume. My eyes fell on his sister, who was staring at me as if she was waiting for her turn.

"You want a hug too?" I asked, smiling and opening my arms.

"Ew." Her face turned into disgust and she walked away from me.

"Or maybe not." I mumbled.

"Minhee." Hot daddy called out, and walked behind Minhee leaving me all alone in the living room. I stood up, walked back to the sofa and sat down while looking around.

I noticed that there was an entire shelf dedicated to the achievements of the kids in various extracurricular activities, medals of sports but there was not a single photo frame of the family.

Weird.

I shrugged my shoulders, and picked up the mug. I sighed, the warm glass of the mug felt good. I sighed and took a sip of warm tea, humming in delight after.

"I'm sorry." Hot daddy apologized as soon as he came back. "I really don't know, Minwoo is not like this and Minhee well…"

"Don't apologize. It's fine." I put down the mug. "I totally understand."

"Thank you." He gave me a small smile and sat on the sofa. "My apologies, I haven't introduced myself properly. I'm Park Jimin." Ah, good he introduced himself. Truth to be told, I forgot his name. All I remember was his charming face.

"Nice to meet you Jimin." I smiled.

"Mr. Park."

"Huh?" Did he just— "It would be better if we keep this professional. I would feel more comfortable if you call me Mr. Park."

Rude but he has a point.

"Sure Mr. Park." I gave him a fake smile.

"Would you like to see around?" He asked.

"Yeah sure." Now how do I say I'm no longer interested here because of your kids. No Minwoo is fine, he's an adorable piece of mochi. The actual problem here is the daughter. I felt goosebumps on my entire body just imagining living here with his daughter.

That would be the same as living in hell.

I can't stand his daughter. Period ah, period uh.

"You have already seen the living room." My head perked up, nodding to what he said. "Here's the kitchen." Previously, I just got a small glimpse of the kitchen but now actually looking at it, it's not bad at all. Quite good and commodious. "This is the kids' room, and that's mine." He pointed to two bedrooms. "Which doesn't have anything to do with." My head snapped towards him.

Why is he so… rude?

"Here the room." He opened the room beside the kids' room, and stood aside. I entered the room and looked around. It looked better than the photos on the website. The walls of the room were painted in a pretty blue color, which was my favorite. A single bed at the side, alone with a night stand. There was a cupboard and a bean bag in the corner.

"Do you like it?" He asked.

"Yeah." I turned around. "It's lovely." Exactly my type.

"Well, then shall we discuss the agreement?" I halted, oh.

"Yeah." I replied in daze. I was in a dilemma. The room was good, better than what I was living in right now. This was all good, but his kids— more like his daughter. We walked back to the living room, and sat down on the sofa.

"Well, may I ask why are you looking for a PG?" He asked.

"Actually I was not looking for PG to be exact. I was looking for rental apartments. But rentals in Seoul were a bit too expensive for me and I don't want rentals outside of Seoul." He nodded. "When I came across this ad, I saw the rent for PG was the same as what I used to pay my landlord. So I decided to give it a shot."

"Why were you looking for apartments in the first place? Did you got kick out—"

"No. I didn't get kicked out because I was a bad tenant or something. The owner of the building changed, and the new owner wants the building empty by this week so I had to search for apartments."

"Ah, such a short notice."

"Yes it was." I nodded.

"Alright, Ms. Raemi there are certain rules you need to keep in mind and follow. I'm quite strict about it. I hope you follow them and don't violate them."

"Yes absolutely Mr. Park." He nodded and stood up, walking away somewhere and came back with some papers and a pen which I assume was the agreement.

"Please, read the contract thoroughly. Feel free to take your time. I have no issue." He informed me as he handed me the contract.

"May I know what is the source of your income?" He asked, making me look at him.

"Ah." I put down the agreement. Now comes the hard part. "I'm a struggling freelancer."

"Oh." I was very well aware of the expression on his face. "That means—"

"Yes, my income is not stable and depends on the work I receive." I completed his sentence.

"Yes, that's what I meant." He looked at the agreement then at me.

"Then you have to pay the rent in advance. No after the end of month. The deposit will be the same as one month's rent."

"Sure, no problem." The paintings which were sold got me enough money to pay advance rent and deposit— however I will have to live on a very tight budget until I receive more money.

"Very well, I have mentioned all the rules in the contract, but I will discuss it with you."

"That would be fine."

"Yeah, there're basic rules such as to maintain some decency in the house, you see I have kids so no using slurs or vulgar words. You can't play loud music, well in absence of kids you sure can I don't mind music but when they are at home you can't. No male friends are allowed in your room, you can meet them here in the living room if you want. There are no rules like you must be at a certain time, there is nothing like that however if you stay out late for whatever reason coming back home drunk from parties is strictly prohibited. Smoking and drinking is not allowed. Please avoid wastage of water and electricity. No pets are allowed." He explained to me all the rules from the agreement. "It's not included in the agreement, but in case you're staying overnight, please inform me." He added.

"Alright." I nodded. Seeing his personality, I was expecting some shit strict rules. What he states was basic. "Don't worry Mr. Park. I can assure I won't violate any of them." He nodded.

"I hope so. Now food arrangements. Since you're a freelancer, I'm assuming you work from home? Or you have an office or something?"

"No, I just work from home."

"Then the times are like this: breakfast at eight, lunch at one and dinner at eight. I and the kids won't be present for lunch as I would be at work and they would be at school. I might or might not join you for dinner." He informed me, but how do I say his lunchtime is my waking up time. "The food charges will be—"

"I think there won't be any food charges since I will manage my own food." He looked at me, in confusion.

"Are you sure Ms. Kim?" He asked me.

"Yeah, I'm sure." I nodded, the timings really don't fit well with my routine and I don't think I can afford anything other than the rent. Besides, ramen is damn tasty. I could eat them all for 30 days, plus those instant kimbap and free sunday jjajang. Plus, if I get some good pay, I can eat out.

"Alright." He picked up the pen, gave it to me. "Sign the agreement after reading it."

"I have read it already, I will sign it." I took the pen from his grip. I already made my mind, if we see the pros and cons, the pros of living here are more. There are only two cons, first his daughter and second his semi-rude personality. And I can't just let go of this place because of a brat. Besides, If I didn't sign and snatch this I would be officially homeless.

"Sure." I nodded and was about to sign it but halted my actions.

"Mr. Park, isn't this supposed to be in both owners' presence?" I asked.

"Excuse me?" He perked his head, looking genuinely confused.

"I mean your wife, isn't the agreement to be signed under both of your presence?" His lips formed in a thin line and he looked at me, as if he was about to kick me out.

"I don't have a wife." His words came out a bit stressed, making me wonder if I shouldn't have asked the question but it didn't matter. What mattered was he didn't have a wife.

Mr. Hot but rude daddy is single.

"Oh." I looked down at the agreement, and signed it.

"When are you moving in?" He took the agreement and looked at me?

"Day after tomorrow, I don't have much stuff so it won't take much time for me to pack up."

I stood up, making him stand up as well. I made my way towards the door, and turned around once I read it.

"Thank you very much Mr. Park." I thanked him, finally for him I wasn't homeless.

"No need to mention." He gave me a small smile, okay fine he's not that rude. I returned the smile and bid farewell, exiting his house.

I sighed as I walked down the street, looking at the stars with a wide smile.

I will sleep peacefully today.
