Chapter: Two
"Chote... Kahaan khoye ho? (Chote Where are you lost?)" Anjali asked tapping her brother on his shoulder.
Arnav looked at her with a small smile. "Nothing Di.. Just thinking about the day." Arnav said
"Anything I should know?" Anjali asked
"Are you planning on visiting the farmhouse anytime soon Di?" Arnav asked in turn without answering her.
"Not.. Really. Why? Besides, Wasn't that place solely yours!" Anjali answered confused
"Just asking." Arnav shrugged
Anjali sighed
"Chotte.. There's definitely something. Kuch hua hai kya Aaj? (Has something happened today?)" Anjali asked concerned
"Nothing to worry Di" Arnav said
"Alright. If you don't want to confide. Just remember, I'm always with you in whatever you do" Anjali patted his back affectionately
Arnav smiled
"Chote We leave for the US next month." Anjali informed
Arnav looked at her surprised
"Why?" He asked
"Something's come up. Me and Mayank leave next month" Anjali explained
Arnav sighed
"Nothing to worry right?" he asked
"Nah... Nothing we can't manage." Anjali said
"Di.. Can I ask you something?" Arnav asked
"Since when did you start taking permission before asking questions Mr Raizada? Of course Ask away" Anjali said
"Aaj kuch hua... Jaise kuch badal gaya. Kisi ki aankhein bahut udaas thi, Aur woh udaasi dil ko bechain kar rahi thi. Meine pehli baar apni dil ko itni zor se dhadakte mehsoos kia. (Something happened today.. As if something changed. Someone's eyes were very sad, And the sadness was making me restless. For the first time I felt my heart beating this loudly)" Arnav confessed
"Chote.. Tum kiski baat kar rahe ho? Kaun hai woh? (Whom are you talking about Chote? Who's she?)" Anjali asked hardly holding back her excitement.
"I don't even know her properly Di. Just her name, Khushi. I can't understand what I'm feeling Di" Arnav looked at his mother like sister seeking answers
Anjali smiled softly at her first child. Time to make him aware of his own feelings for someone who's clearly too special for him.
"Where did you meet her?" Anjali asked
"I.. I saw her in the farmhouse. We both have many things in common. Love for plants.. For one. Lonliness for the other." Arnav said
"Lonliness?" Anjali asked
"She.. Looked alone, troubled, lost, Sad. Somehow her sadness didn't sit too well with me. I just wanted her to smile" Arnav confided
"Toh tumne kyaa kia? (Then what did you do?)" Anjali asked
"Gave her company.. Talked, tried to make her comfortable. I also told her that she could always come to the farmhouse whenever she likes" Arnav said slowly.
Anjali smiled.
"Tum jaante ho tumne kya kiya?"(You know what you have done?)" Anjali asked softly
"What?" Arnav asked confused
"You just shared your solace with her. Chote.. Maa ka woh garden, Tumhaare liye kitna special hai hum jaante hain. Woh jagaah.. Jise tum humse bhi share nahi karte.. Tum usse share karna chaahte ho. Tumhaara woh sukoon, Jo tum uss garden mein jaakar mehsoos karte ho.. Tum Khushi ko bhi woh hi sukoon dena chaahte ho. (I know how special mumma's garden is for you chote.. You want to share the place you don't even share with me, with her. You want Khushi to feel the same ease that you feel when you go into that garden)" Anjali explained
"What are you trying to explain Di?" Arnav asked utterly confused.
"That you're in love. You have fallen for Khushi" Anjali announced happily
"This... This is not possible Di.. This is not" Arnav said
"Why is that?" Anjali asked
"Di.. I barely know her. Just her name and nothing else. How can this be love? I mean.. I.. We've met just once Di!" Arnav explained his stand
Anjali smiled fondly and cupped his face.
"Chote.. Pyaar soch-samajhkar..jaan-bujhkar.. Dekh-Parakhkar nahi hota.. Bas ho jaata hai. Jaise tumhe ho gayaa hai.. Kabhi kabhi saalon intezaar karna padta hai mohobbat ka.. Aur kabhi ek pal hi bahut hota hai.. Mohobbat bahut khoobsoorat hoti hai chote. Jise hoti hai.. Uski saari duniya roshan kar deti hai (Chhote, love doesn't happen intentionally or unintentionally, willingly or unwillingly.... It just happens just like it happened with u... Sometimes u have to wait for ages for love to happen & sometimes just a moment is enough... Love is very beautiful Chhote, it illuminates ur whole life once u fall in love)" Anjali explained
suryakavi0912 Di thank you for helping me with this translation
"Mujhe.. Pyaar? (Love.. Me?)" Arnav uttered
"Give it some time Chote.. It can be overwhelming at times" Anjali patted his head affectionately.
"Thank you Di." Arnav said.
"Welcome. Most welcome chote" Anjali said
"Di.. Ek sawaal aur (One more question)" Arnav said
Anjali nodded
"Was.. Yours love at first sight Di?" Arnav asked
Anjali blushed slightly
"Nahi.. Hum school aur college mein saath the.. Ek doosre ko saat saal se jaante the. (No, We were together in school as well as college.. And knew each other for seven years) But we fell in love after our college was over. A few months after I joined the Bangalore branch of AR. Back then Mayank was working with his father in Bangalore looking after the business in his absence." Anjali said
"Not that I am complaining, But I still don't know why did you insisted on marrying in Delhi?" Arnav asked
Anjali sighed
"One the reasons.. Was that Family was here. You were here. Secondly, Mayank wanted to leave Bangalore after his parents passed away. For Mayank, the city has been kind of like Lucknow had been to us. I didn't want him to suffer with all the memories. Good or bad. Besides, Now he's fine with visiting Bangalore once in a while. I don't want to push him" Anjali said
"You know di.. I always refrain myself from saying this, But.. Can't you extend your stay here in RM? Why only the weekends?" Arnav asked
"So my chote misses me?" Anjali asked
"Of course not." Arnav said nonchalantly
"As if I'll believe you" Anjali mocked
"Whatever"
"Well.. We don't stay beyond weekends.. Because we aren't really home on the weekdays. You know.. A certain ASR is a very big workaholic and he even makes us work harder" Anjali complained
"Is the work really too much Di?" Arnav asked genuinely
"I was just joking chote.. The workload is bearable. But the thing about ASR being a workaholic isn't a lie.. I mean, You work even on the Sundays. Who in their right minds does that?" Anjali asked
"Di.." Arnav glared at his sister
"Anyways.. It's late. You should sleep now" Anjali said
Arnav nodded
"G'night Di" Arnav wished Anjali while pecking her forehead
"G'night Chote" Anjali said.
Arnav made his way towards his room and Anjali towards hers.
