Chapter 24: Business Idea

Next Day...

Sid was in his college when some students came to him complaining about the sports equipments. There were several defects in the equipments and it was being difficult for them to practise.

After listening to their complaints, Sid himself went to check the equipments.

He checked all the equipments carefully and realised that the students were saying the truth. Those were really defective.

"Sir our sports tournament is nearby. We should change this equipments otherwise it will effect our performance." One of the students said.

"I'll talk to the principal. Till now let's do warm-ups. Come on."

Saying that Sid made the students busy in warm-up excercise.

After lunch break he went to talk to the principal.

"Sir the equipments are really defective and their quality is very low. If we want to improve our students' performance, we have to change the equipments first." Sid said.

The principal thought for sometime and said, "I'm understanding your point but honestly we have nothing to do about it. All the sports equipments are bought according to our budget. This company gives us product at very low price. Not only our college but many other colleges and schools in our area bought sports equipments from the same company. Sometimes they turned out to be defective. But what can we do? Buying sports equipments of good quality is beyond our budget."

"What if we increase our budget?" Sid asked.

"Our trustees won't agree. Our maximum budget is used for academics. Unfortunately nobody wants to invest money in sports. I hope you understand."

Hearing that, Sid became disappointed.

He nodded and left the Principal's cabin.

After Sometime...

"I can't understand ek taraf yeh log chahte hai ki inke students studies ke saath saath sports mein bhi apna best de. But they can't provide them sports equipments of best quality." Sid said to Nitin, one of his colleagues who does part-time job in the college. In a short time they became good friends as he is also from Mumbai.

"Yeh hi hota hai. Zyada se zyada schools aur colleges mein sports ko studies ke jitni importance nahi diyi jaati." Nitin said.

"Main bohut worried hoon. Agar tournament se pehle inko acche equipments nahi mile then they won't be able to perform well. Iss se students demotivated ho jayenge. Mera bas chale toh main khud hi inko sports equipments kharid ke doon."

Nitin started thinking deeply hearing that.

After sometime he smiled and said, "Idea bura nahi hai waise."

"Matlab?" Sid asked.

"Ek baat baata. Tere ko sports equipments ke baare mein bohut zyada knowledge hai?"

"Of course hai. I'm a sports person."

"That's great. Toh hum log khud ka business start karte hai na, sports equipments ka?"

"Business?" Sid asked widening his eyes.

"Haan. Dekh tu yaaha se kitna kama leta hai? 26,000? Salary agar badhi bhi toh zyada se zyada 30,000 kama lega. Meri salary toh uss se bhi kam hai. Tujhe nahi lagta humein side mein apna alag sa business suru karna chahiye? Yaaha bohut professors hai jinka side mein khud ka business hai. College khatam hone ke baad humein waqt hi waqt milta hai. Toh hum college aur business dono ko saath le ke chal sakte hai."

Sid also started thinking.

"But starting a business is a big deal." He said.

"Woh toh hai. Buisness start karne se pehle paisa invest karna padhta hai." Nitin said.

"Paise ki tension mujhe nahi hai. Jitne bhi paise Dad ne mere naam pe rakhe hai main unko invest kar sakta hoon. But will it be profitable?"

"Of course it will be profitable. Humare college mein kya problem ho rahi hai? Budget ki right? Lekin agar hum unko aur baki schools, colleges ko bhi cheap price mein best equipments provide kare toh woh yeh sab humse hi kharidenge. Iss se humein profit bhi hogi aur business bhi aage badhega. Saath saath students ka bhi bhala ho jayega."

"Ek aur problem hai. Mujhe business ka zyada knowledge nahi hai."

"Aur mujhe sports equipments ka knowledge nahi hai. Tu products kaunse lene hai woh dekh lena aur main business kaise chala na hai woh sambhal lunga aur tujhe bhi sikha dunga. I know tu bohut zaldi sab kuch sikh lega."

Finally Sid agreed.

"Ok let's do it. Main bhi soch raha tha side mein kuch karne ka. Business start karunga yeh nahi socha tha but try karne mein problem nahi hai." He said.

At The Hospital...

Today Sana didn't have appointments with much patients. After checking a few patients, Sana decided to leave the hospital earlier.

Sana was leaving when Agastya called her from behind.

"Roshni! Tumhari shift khatam ho gayi?" Agastya asked.

Sana took a deep breath and looked at him.

"Haan Sir. Actually aaj zyada patients nahi the. And I'm not feeling well so I'm heading home." She said.

"Should I drop you?"

"Sir abhi din hai. Mujhe cab mil jayegi."

"I know but meri car hai na? My shift is also over so I can drop you home."

"Maine kaha na nahi!" Sana said little bit loudly.

"Sir iss hospital mein aap ke under bohut saare doctors kaam karte hai. Aap sab ko toh unke ghar drop karne nahi jaate na. Toh phir sirf mujhe hi yeh special treatment kyu?" She said further.

"Because I thought that we were friends." Agastya said.

"We are friends. But I feel we should keep it....umm...little bit professional. Excuse me."

Saying that Sana left the hospital not waiting for Agastya's reply.

Here Agastya became totally confused.

"What's wrong with Roshni? Woh aise toh kabhi behave nahi karti? Why is she telling me to keep it professional? Jab ki main toh uss se pyaar karne laga hoon. Usse apni personal life ka hissa bana na chahta hoon. Kya meri yeh khwaish kabhi puri ho paayegi?" Agastya said in his mind.

Coming out of the hospital, Sana got inside a cab. She was feeling bad for talking to Agastya like that. After all she also considered him as her friend. But she couldn't keep him above her love.

"Iss waqt mere liye mera pyaar sabse zyada matter karta hai. Agar Agastya Sir se distance maintain karne se Sid ki insecurity thodi dur ho sakti hai toh main woh karungi. Mujhse jitna ho sakega main karungi, only for Sid. Iski suruwaad aaj se hi hogi." She said in her mind.

In The Evening...

Sana made Sid's favourite dishes and was waiting for him. Usually he returned from college earlier but that day he was late. Sana became worried.

After sometime she heard a knock at the door. Sana hurriedly opened the door.

"Itni der kaha tha tu?" She asked seeing him.

"Sana mujhe tujhe kuch baata na hai. Come."

Saying that Sid took Sana to the live-in room and made her sit on the sofa. He also sat on the sofa.

"Kya baat hai?" Sana asked curiously.

"Sana I..... Have decided to start my own business." He said.

"What? Business? Lekin achanak se...."

"Yeh sab aaj hi plan hua hai. Main aur mera ek colleague, Nitin, hum dono mil kar sports equipments ka business start karenge. Mujhe toh business ke baare mein zyada knowledge hai nahi but thankfully I have Nitin. He will guide me."

"Sid, hold on! Tu suddenly business line mein kyu jaana chahta hai? You already work in the college. Toh phir inn sab ka point kya hai?"

"Sana main uss college mein jo kaam karta hoon woh main chhor nahi raha. Lekin college khatam hone ke baad mera paas bohut free time bacha rehta hai. Now I want to utilise that time. Agar side mein ek business rahega toh kya ho jayega?"

"You are not getting it. Tujhe business mein kabhi interest tha hi nahi. Aur main acche se jaanti hoon tu yeh kyu kar raha hai. You want to make a better career, right? Isliye tune business start karne ka socha."

"Toh kya yeh galat hai?" Sid asked.

"Galat nahi hai but why are you doing something against your will? Agar tujhe better career bana na hai toh phir tu apna football wapas se suru kyu nahi karta?"

"Sana please!" Sid said showing his hand. "Now that's a past. Main woh chhor chuka hoon aur mujhe wapas uss line mein nahi jaana. I don't want further discussion specially on this matter."

Sana became quiet hearing it.

"Aur rahi baat business ki, I'm not doing it against my will. Main yeh unn students ke liye kar raha hoon jinko budget ki wajah se acche sports equipments provide nahi kiye jaate. I'm doing it for them."

Sana sighed and asked, "Tujhe sach mein yeh karna hai?"

Sid nodded in yes.

Sana kept her hand on Sid's hands and smiled.

"Toh phir main tere saath hoon." She said.

A huge smile came to Sid's face and he hugged Sana tightly.

"Bas tere hi saath ki zaroorat hai. Phir sab kuch apne aap ho jayega."

Saying that he broke the hug and gave a kiss on Sana's forehead.

"Accha sun na mujhe abhi nikal na hai." Sid said further.

"Lekin tu abhi abhi toh ghar aaya." Sana said.

"Haan but mujhe Nitin ke ghar plan discuss karne jaana hai. Main udhar hi khana khaa lunga. Raat ko ghar laut ne mein der ho sakti hai. Tu so jaana. Bye!"

Saying that Sid left the house.

Sana went to the kitchen and sadly looked at the dishes she made for him.

"Koi naa. Main phir kabhi tere liye khana banaungi aur hum saath mein dinner karenge. Roz toh aisa nahi hoga." Sana said in her mind.

She kept the food in the fridge.
