Satyanarayana Pooja

The first rays of sunlight crept into the room, casting a golden glow over the soft white drapes.
Dil ka yeh kya raaz hai
Jaane kya kar gaye
(What's this secret of the heart
What have you done)
Ranbir stirred awake first, his eyes fluttering open to find Prachi's head resting on his chest.
Jaise andhero mein tum
Chandni bhar gaye
(It's like in darkness
You've filled moonlight)
Her hair was slightly messy, framing her serene face, her sindoor still vibrant in the parting of her hair, and her mangalsutra glinting faintly in the morning light.
Kare chand taaron ko mashoor itna kyun
Kambakht inse bhi khoobsurat hai tu
(Why are the moon and the stars so famous
When you're more beautiful than them)
He smiled to himself, marveling at how perfect she looked—like she belonged there, in his arms, forever.
I love you ... tu ru ru ... yeah yeah yeah
(I love you ... tu ru ru ... yeah yeah yeah)
Ranbir (softly, to himself):
"Bas, ab zindagi mein aur kuch nahi chahiye. Yeh subah, yeh Prachi... aur yeh moment. Perfect(Now, I don't need anything in life. This morning, this Prachi... and this moment. Perfect.)"
A small smile tugged at his lips as he brushed a strand of hair from her face.
I love you ... tu ru ru ... yeah yeah yeah
(I love you ... tu ru ru ... yeah yeah yeah)
Ranbir (softly): "Mrs. Kohli, itna sundar sapna kaun dekhta hai(Mrs. Kohli, who dreams such a beautiful dream?)"
Din bhar kare baatein hum
Phir bhi lage baatein adhoori aaj kal
(We talk throughout the day
But still our talks seem incomplete nowadays)
Prachi stirred at the sound of his voice, her eyes fluttering open.
Mann ki dehleezon pe koi aaye na
Bas tum zaroori aaj kal
(May no one come to the threshold of my heart
Just you're my necessity nowadays)
She looked up at him and realized how close they were.
Abr mein hoon tu aasmaan hai
Paas hai tu par kahan hai
(I'm the rain while you're the sky
You're close by, but where are you)
Her cheeks turned crimson, and she quickly sat up, pulling the blanket closer.
Zid meri tu nahi, meri aadat hai tu
(You're not my stubbornness but you're my habit)
Prachi (embarrassed): "Ranbir! Tum... tum abhi tak soye kyun nahi(Ranbir! You... why haven't you slept yet?)"
Ranbir (teasingly): "Tumhare saath sapno se zyada acchi reality hai. Sona zaroori nahi lagta(With you, reality is better than dreams. Sleeping doesn't seem necessary.)"
I love you ... I love you
Prachi rolled her eyes but couldn't help the shy smile that crept onto her face. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, followed by Naira's voice.
Kabhi kabhi main khud se hoon yeh poochta
Main tere qabil bhi hoon kya
(Sometimes I ask myself this
Whether am I worthy of you)
Naira: "Prachi, Ranbir! Subah ho gayi hai. Jaldi se tayar ho jao. Aaj pooja hai(Prachi, Ranbir! It's morning. Get ready quickly. Today is pooja!)"
Prachi's eyes widened.
Prachi: "Pooja! Oh no, Ranbir, humein late nahi hona chahiye(Prayer! Oh no, Ranbir, we shouldn't be late!)"
Ranbir (grinning lazily): "Tumhare saath har waqt pooja hi lagti hai, Mrs. Kohli(I feel like every moment is worship with you, Mrs. Kohli.)"
Itna toh mujhe hai maalum
Milke tujhe behtar main insaan ban gaya
(At least I know that
I've become a better person after meeting you)
Prachi tried to get up, but Ranbir held her by the waist, pulling her back into his arms.
Ranbir (mock-serious):
"Arre, kahan ja rahi ho? Abhi toh main tumhe dekh raha hoon. Tumhare paas sirf mere liye time hona chahiye(Hey, where are you going? Right now I am looking at you. You should have time only for me.)"
Thoda thoda tujh se seekha
Pyar karne ka tareeka
(I've learnt a little from you
The art of loving)
Prachi (flustered):
"Baklu, mujhe uthane do! Pura ghar jaag gaya hoga, aur tum yahan natak kar rahe ho(Baklu, let me get up! The whole house must be awake, and you're here acting!)"
Ranbir smirked mischievously and leaned closer, his breath fanning her ear.
Ranbir (whispering):
"Ghar jaag gaya toh kya? Hum ab pati-patni hain. Agar koi kuch kahega toh keh dena... tumhara pati tumhare bina nahi reh sakta(So what if the house wakes up? We are now husband and wife. If someone says something then let them say it... Your husband cannot live without you!)"
Dil ke khuda ki mujh pe inaayat hai tu
(You're the gift to me from the God of hearts)
Prachi playfully pushed him away, finally managing to get up, but not without Ranbir pulling her back one last time for a quick kiss on her cheek.
I love you ... I love you
Prachi (giggling):
"Ranbir, tumhe sudharne mein pura janam lag jayega(Ranbir, it will take your entire life to improve!)"
Ranbir (grinning):
"Toh le lo pura janam, Mrs. Kohli. Mujhe koi problem nahi(So take the whole life, Mrs. Kohli. I don't have any problem.)"
Prachi threw a pillow at him, blushing furiously as she rushed to get ready.
Dil ka yeh kya raaz hai
(What's this secret of the heart)
The Kohli house was a sight to behold. Beautiful flower garlands adorned every corner, and the fragrance of incense wafted through the air. The family had gathered in the main hall, dressed in traditional attire, as the priest prepared for the pooja.
Jaane kya kar gaye
(What have you done)
Prachi stepped into the hall, draped in a stunning mustard-yellow saree with a delicate red border. Her hair was tied neatly in a braid, adorned with small jasmine flowers. Ranbir, in a white kurta-pajama with a golden stole, couldn't take his eyes off her.
Jaise andhero mein tum
(It's like in darkness)
Ranbir (whispering to Dhruv): "Dekha? Maine shaadi sahi ladki se ki hai(See? I have married the right girl.)"
Chandni bhar gaye
(You've filled moonlight)
Dhruv (grinning): "Waise tum kitne lucky ho, yeh toh sab jaante hain(Well, everyone knows how lucky you are.)"
The pooja began with the priest reciting mantras. Ranbir and Prachi, as the newlywed couple, were seated at the center with their hands joined. A coconut was placed in their hands, symbolizing their shared responsibilities as husband and wife.
Kare chand taaron ko mashoor itna kyun
(Why are the moon and the stars so famous)
Priest: "Satyanarayana Bhagwan ki pooja se sukh aur shanti prapt hoti hai. Naya jeevan shuru karte samay is pooja ka mahatva adhik hai(Worship of Lord Satyanarayan brings happiness and peace. The importance of pooja is more while starting a new life.)"
Prachi, immersed in the rituals, folded her hands and prayed sincerely.
Ranbir, however, couldn't help but steal glances at her.
Ranbir (whispering to Prachi): "Tum toh meri life mein pehle se sukh aur shanti le aayi ho(You have already brought happiness and peace in my life.)"
Prachi (hushed but blushing): "Ranbir, concentrate!"
The priest handed them aarti thalis, and the couple performed the aarti together, moving the thali in circular motions as everyone sang in devotion.
Kambakht inse bhi khoobsurat hai tu
(When you're more beautiful than them)
After the pooja, the family gathered to bless the couple. Naitik, Kaira, Naira,Dhruv even Kairav were present, showering flowers on them.
Naira: "Prachi, tumhari shaadi ke baad toh ghar ka mahal hi alag ho gaya hai(Prachi, after your marriage the palace of the house has become different.)"
Kartik (teasing Ranbir): "Aur Ranbir, lagta hai tumhari pehli pooja kaafi serious thi. Pooja ke baad uth ke kyun nahi bol rahe ho kuch(And Ranbir, it seems your first pooja was quite serious. Why are you not saying anything after getting up after the pooja?)"
I love you ... I love you
Ranbir (grinning): "Main kuch bolun ya na bolun, pooja mein toh saara ashirwad mujhe mil gaya (Whether I say anything or not, I got so many blessings in the pooja.)"
Naitik (nudging Prachi): "Aur Prachi beti, tujhe Ranbir beta se zyada ashirwad chahiye, hai na (And Prachi daughter, you want more blessings than Ranbir son, right?)"
The family burst into laughter as Prachi blushed furiously.
Naira handed out prasad to everyone, and Ranbir made sure to grab an extra serving for Prachi. As she reached for the bowl, he pulled it back with a mischievous grin.
I love you ... I love you
Ranbir: "Pehle ek cheez ka wada karo(Promise me one thing first.)"
Prachi: "Kya(What?)"
Ranbir: "Aaj raat koi interruption nahi hoga(There will be no interruptions tonight.)"
Prachi (blushing): "Ranbir!"
I love you
Dhruv (laughing): "Bhai, tum dono kabhi nahi sudhroge(Brother, you two will never get better.)"
As the family continued laughing and teasing, the atmosphere was filled with love and happiness. It was the perfect start to their married life, with laughter, rituals, and a bond that only grew stronger with each moment.
