Entry 1: Beginning Roar
Skylar's P.O.V.

Hey, my name is Skylar Ruby. I'm just your average eighteen-year-old girl who's currently a student at Winterfield High School, and my whole life was about to change in an instant. Well, hang on a minute. I'm truly making it sound like I'm about to start your cliché and overdone fantasy book. Well, at least I didn't say I was the 'almighty chosen one.'

No, I'm nothing of the short. Quite frankly, I wouldn't think of myself as the 'outgoing' type of person. I never thought I would be able to lead my friends into battle. Hell, if I didn't have them by my side, I probably wouldn't be here writing my story today.
This all started back last year in the middle of March. The wind whistled through the trees and the colorful flowers that bloomed throughout the town, making it seem like it was a work of art. The sounds of cheering could be heard all around at the current softball game that was playing at the high school.
My heart was beating in my chest as I stood on home plate. The score was currently 16-17. This felt so nerve-wracking. This isn't the first time that they were counting on me to win the game. How could they keep doing this to me? It wasn't like I was Jessica Parker or Rachael Smith, the two top players on the team.
My shaky hands started to sweat as I held my bat. The pitcher smirked as she signaled to the player behind her. I took a deep breath as I tried my best to calm my nerves. I wasn't going to allow myself to lose this game for my team. I want to be able to prove people wrong. I wasn't a loser.
"Today is going to be the day," I whispered to myself. The ball was thrown. My breath caught in the back of my throat. Time felt like it was slowing down as I watched the ball soar through the air. I gently swung my bat forward and heard a nice "Twamp" as my bat connected with the ball. A smile formed on my lips as I witnessed the ball sail through the air.
"I did it!" I cheered. I dropped the bat and started to dash toward the first base. I could hear the cheers and shouts from fellow classmates and families behind me, as well as boos coming from the opposing team. This was a sign of a new change for me. Maybe I wasn't a screw up. This could be a turning point in my life. Today, I wasn't the reason why my team lost the game.
My foot connected to the first base. It truly felt like I was leaving my old life behind, that I was leaving behind the failure I once was in the past. My eyes trained on the second base, preparing myself to run once again. I then knew that things were too good to be true. I didn't realize the sounds of cheers had faded away at first. The blonde girl who stood on second base held up her softball mitt, revealing the ball that she had just caught.
My heart dropped. All the excitement that overflowed my body slowly started to drift away along with the wind. How could this happen to me again? I truly thought I wasn't going to screw up this time. I peered over at the stands.
I could see the looks of disappointment and even anger in the crowds' faces. I recognized some of the fans from previous games. I could even hear them call me "Bad Luck," "The screw up," "The worst player to grace the school's doors," as well as some other words that would probably earn me a slap upside the head from my mother if I repeated them.
I trudged my way back to the dugout, already noticing that my teammates were long gone. At this point, I was already used to them being ticked off at me due to losing the game for them. Above me, I could hear a voice calling out to me. "Wow, what a performance out there, Skylar. You truly had me going there today. I truly thought you were going to win the game."
Standing out in the stands was 'princess' Tiffany Jane herself. The royal brat of the town. She was a sixteen-year-old drama queen who believed that her daddy could buy her anything that money could buy. Her father just so happened to be the mayor of the town, making her think that her words were law.

The perky blonde girl had her hair up in a tight ponytail tied together by a pink scrunchie. She wore a light pink top with a light blue jacket over it and blue jeans. Over her shoulder was the latest pink purse that her mother had made. Tiffany happened to be one of the few people who got their hands on it early. She didn't mind boasting about it at all.
I tried my best to ignore her, which usually never helped. Tiffany still got her kicks from bullying me even if I say something or not. Either way, I was her usual target.
"Why don't you do your whole team a favor, and stop playing? Don't you think you have caused this school enough losses?" She asked with a raised brow.
"You never are going to succeed in this team. Just quit if you know what's good for you. I'm sure your coach is giving up on you eventually. So, save yourself your feelings and just quit this team." Tiffany's phone buzzed in her purse.
The blonde reached for it and read over the text she had received. As she did so, I took the chance to gather my belongings from the dugout, putting up my bat as I did so.
"Why can't she just leave me alone?" I grumbled. I picked up my bag and reached inside to see that I had received a text of my own.

For the past month, I've been baby-sitting an eight-year-old boy named Ivan who, for his age, was rather mature. He would always listen to me and, thankfully, wasn't a crazy child. Austin was Ivan's father. He was a thirty-two-year-old man who was also a boxer for Winterfield's Boxing Association.
He used to be a well-known boxer who would travel across the states competing in matches until he ran into Ivan's mother, Iris. He said that she was a very beautiful, kind and intelligent woman. Although he never believed during the years, he was married to her, that she would leave him for someone else and leave him with their six-month son. My phone buzzed once more.
Austin: Thank you very much, Skylar. That truly means a lot.
I took a deep breath and placed my phone back into my bag. Then, I placed my bag back over my shoulder. I shakily climbed up the stairs of the dugout, happy to see that the bane of my existence has left the scene. She probably got a text from her mother that the newest line of clothes got put out on display at the mall.

       (Apartment complex 5:30pm Dixie Road)

Ivan walked briskly inside as I opened the door. He had been waiting for me on the staircase of his school. He was already used to the fact that his father couldn't pick him up from school anymore. That is what he told me at least. You can never tell what is going through a young child's mind.

Ivan placed his bag on the countertop and pulled out his school's laptop. He opened it up and turned it on. I watched him for a moment with a soft smile on my face. The boy was African American. His black hair was frizzled and cut short; his eyes were a sharp gray.
"Is there anything you would like for me to make you? I could make you a grilled cheese sandwich if you like." I suggested with a smile. Ivan shook his head softly.
"Nah, I'm good for now. If anything, I could make some pasta later for my dad and I." He said. The boy really loves to cook, dreaming of one day becoming a chef. The young boy was typing away at his laptop. The pitter patter of his keypad filled my ears.
I sat across from him and drummed my fingers across the tabletop, wondering if I should ask him if he needed help with his homework. "Hey Ivan, is there anything I could help you with?" I asked him.
Ivan hummed as he placed his chin in the palm of his hand. "Well, I am having difficulties solving this problem here. Could you possibly help me with it?" I leaned over to get a better view of his work. "What seems to be the problem?"
"Well the question asks if a fruit vendor sells 198 kilograms of apples on the first day. On the second day, he sold 24 kilograms more than he did on the first day. On the third day, he sold 12 kilograms less than he sold on the second day. On the fourth day, he sold 29 kilograms more than what he sold on the third day. How many kgs of apples did the farmer sell all four days together?"
I hummed softly and picked up his discarded pen that he was using to jot down his work on a piece of paper.
"Well first you have to think about it like this. You have to come up with the amount of apples he sold each day. On day one he sold 198 kilograms of apples. On the second day he sold 24 kilograms more. Which if you add it together would give you 222. On the third day he sold 12 kilograms less than he did on the day before. So you have to subtract twelve to get 210. Finally on the fourth day he sold 29 kilograms more than he did on the third day. So add to get 239. Once you have all the values for each day you add them all together to get... what?"
I gave the pen to Ivan and he finished up the work. "869 kilograms?" He responded. "That's it!" I cheered. "Wow! Thank you Skylar." He said to me. I patted his shoulder. Afterwards,I decided to get up and make my way to the sink. I started the water and began washing the dishes. There were a few plates that were tough to clean since they ate raviolis last night. "Hey, Skylar?" the boy started. I looked over my shoulder, continuing with the dishes.
"Would it be alright if I turned on the television for background noise?"
I smiled. "Of course," I answered as I scrubbed away at the plate.
Ivan smiled warmly as he picked up the remote and turned on the television. Strangely, however, only static filled the screen, making a harsh screeching noise. "Ouch... is something wrong with your guys' television?" I asked over the noise.
"It was working this morning!" He cried out.
A flash of blue and yellow symbols flashed on the television for a moment. A loud roar that sounded almost electric filled the room, chilling me to my core. My survival instincts kicked in and screamed in my mind to leave the room right now. The blue symbol seemed to burn into my mind before the static faded away, almost like the weird spots one would see when they close their eyes after staring at a bright light for a long time.
"What was that?!" Ivan asked me with a look of panic across his face. Fear filled his very being. I could even notice tears filling his eyes. "D-did you hear that laughter?"
I looked at him puzzled and even worried. "Laughter?" I set the plate I was scrubbing back in the sink and dried off my hands. Then I turned towards him and placed my hands on his shoulder. I stared into his eyes.
"What kind of laughter did you hear?"
"It sounded... like a supervillain. I know for sure it was a man."
I frowned softly. What was going on? Those symbols, that roar and even laughter that only Ivan seemed to have heard. What does this all mean? I placed my hand on my forehead and tried to shake it softly. "It mostly likely was just a glitch in the television. Maybe it was just a movie that was playing, and the T.V. was having difficulties showing the full picture." I suggested. The young boy nodded to agree with me while rubbing the corners of his eyes with the back of his hand. "Maybe." He sniffed softly.

(Digital World, Temporal Loop City)

Drolanman's P.O.V.

My name is Drolanmon, or 12JH-7. I'm a soldier in the rebellion forces army. The digital world wasn't a very pleasant and dreamy world to grow up in. It was a world that one would have to constantly watch their own back to survive. Digimon alike tried their hardest to live in harmony. But, every once a while, there would be some villainous digimon who feels like they have the potential to take over the digital world.

Ever since I hatched out of my Digi-Egg, I knew I was meant to fight. So, when I reached my rookie level form, I decided to enlist for the cause. Our army used to be well-known across the digital world, keeping the forces of darkness at bay. A group of DigiDestined haven't been needed to be called in over a century.
However, things started to change with the X-Antibody gene outbreak. So many digimon were getting infected with the gene that an alarming amount of X-Antibody digimon started to appear in the digital world.
What started out as an army force to fight off any dark digimon turned into an all-out rebellion force. They had to make the change. The royal knights were killing off all and any X-Antibody digimon that they encountered.
I peered down onto the city below me from the rooftop of a large building I sat upon. Light from the setting sun reflected off the glass of the buildings. The sounds of digimon from the streets below filled my ears, and the smell of cooked chicken filled the air.
I noticed an Elecmon gesturing for three champion-level digimon to buy some of his food.
"Freshly cooked. Get them while they're hot, lads!"
I sighed softly, allowing the air to flow against my scales. My tail gently swayed behind me. There were days that I wished my life could be simpler. I long for a peaceful life. But, all peace comes with a cost. You must fight to protect the ones you love. I have lost many Digimon I have cared about. I yearn to see them again, but I will forever hold onto their memory.
"I knew I would find you out here, Drolanmon." A male voice came from behind me. I peered over my shoulder to stare at the leader of my squad. He was a WereGarurumon and one of the toughest fighters I have ever seen on the battlefield. The wolf approached me and sat down beside me.
"Why aren't you out celebrating with the others?" The wolf digimon asked, puzzled.
"You should treat yourself, you know. You shouldn't be a gloomy Gus all the time. You can have fun. Take some time to unwind. The mission was a success. We were able to rescue many casualties." he assured me, mentioning our most recent mission.
We had infiltrated a royal knight's base. The mission was tough, to say the least. Mega-level digimon were on guard, and, being a unit composed of rookie and champion level digimon, it was a challenge to fight them off.
"I don't have time to have fun, sir. I must keep my mind on the mission. Until we accomplish the mission, I don't see myself wanting to have any sort of fun."
The wolf digimon chuckled and patted my shoulder. "Geez, soldier. You know, I thought the others were crazy, but you really do have a stick up your ass. You don't have to be so uptight. Lighten up a little."
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest. "Sir, if I may imply that the other soldiers in our unit are immature and they don't know what they're talking about." My commander laughed loudly. Tears formed in the corner of his eyes. The wolf patted me on my back and kneeled beside me. "Drolanmon, have you ever heard of the story of the Patamon that learned to fly?"
I looked at him. "What does that have to do with anything?"
"Just listen for a moment. You see, there was this Patamon that looked far into the sky. He saw digimon of all shapes and sizes flying above his head. In his little DigiCore, he tried so hard to fly as well. However, try as he might, all he could ever do was glide. He would spend hours and hours trying to perfect his flying skills until he decided to try and glide from a mountain top. Being unable to truly fly, the Patamon plummeted to his deletion."

I raised a brow. "Umm... Is that story supposed to make me feel better?"
"You see, the story tells us that you should practice over and over to get better at something. Although Patamon took his training to the extreme, he led himself to his own deletion. Drolanmon, you shouldn't do the same. You need to take time for yourself, and that's an order, soldier." He stood up to his feet.
"Yes sir," I spoke glumly. Although my commander can be a pain in the ass at times, I had to admit, I looked up to him. I want to be a ruthless fighter like him. I guess he was right. I sighed and slowly made my way after him, staring off to the far side of the rooftop.
My eyes landed on an Epipamon. A rookie-level plant digimon. They are known for their beauty all over the digital world. They traveled to spread healing and sincerity. This Epipamon was different, however. Her hair was short and raggedy. A worn-out gray mask covered her face, and her dress was a dull blue and torn at random edges. The rookie digimon was tending to a garden.

She gave me a gentle wave. "Good evening." She called over to me. I gave her a curt nod, not stopping to speak to her. I made my way into the building, wondering where my night was going to lead me. I wasn't hungry now so I could just wander around the city for the night until morning broke free. Maybe then the commander could finally get off my back.

(Winterfield Mall, 6:30 pm)
Tiffany Jane's P.O.V.
Winterfield mall was a place for me along with other teenagers to just chill and relax. Anyone who was anyone came to this place if you wanted to stay up to date with the latest fashion or trends. I made my way through the crowded space straight towards Molly's Boutique. A huge crowd of people were waiting outside. "Excuse me, somebody more important is coming through!" I announced as I bustled my way through the crowd.
I was so thankful that not only my father was the mayor of Winterfield, but my grandmother came out with a new line of shoes today. I truly couldn't wait to see them. They were going to be the talk of the summer, and I just had to get my hands on them before they were sold out. My grandmother had called me and said she would personally close the store until I got myself a pair. For free of course.
A woman waiting outside of the store peered over to me as I approached her. "Hello, I came to see my grandmother, Molly Jefferson." The woman then started to study me, probably making sure I was who I said I was. The woman opened the door for me. I smiled warmly as I made my way inside of the store. My grandmother was waiting in the middle of the store for me. She held a bright pink shoe box in her outstretched hands. "There you are, honey bunch! I'm so happy to see you, sweetheart."
I quickly made my way over to her and threw my arms around her, holding onto her tightly. "I'm so happy to see you! How was your trip to Argentina?"
"It was quite pleasant, dear. I was able to ride in first class, of course, and had an excellent steak dinner. It was a beautiful flight. I stayed in Paraguay during my trip, and got to visit Iguazú National Park. It truly gave me a lot of inspiration for my next clothesline." She hummed softly to herself. "Oh, come now don't let me jabber all day. I have been dying to show you these new shoes to you."
She then held out a pink box. "Here, now, darling." I grabbed the box from her hands and took the lid off, then discarded the golden glitter wrapping to see the bright pink heels inside. They were so stunning. These shoes seriously took my breath away. They had blue stripes on the side and they even had bright pink feathers sprouting from the opening of the shoe.
"Ooo so cute! Oh my god, so pretty!" I squealed. "I've been waiting for these shoes for ages! I'm so glad that you told me, grandmama. I'm definitely going to be the talk of the school for a whole month."
My grandma waved my words away as she drifted around the store.
"Oh, now don't mention it all Tiffany, my darling. I just had to tell you about my new line of shoes." My grandmother was in her fifties and she stood about five feet tall. Her hair was a bright tangerine, styled in a tight perm. She wore a light blue scaled dress, with a wolf styled pelt over it.
"How do you ever come up with the designs for your products?" I asked with a warm smile. "You just keep amazing me over and over with your designs." My grandmother was peering over some of her products. Each had their own unique designs and styles. She gave me a sly shrug.
"Oh, you know what they say, dear. You should never reveal your secrets." She then moved some purses around, trying to rearrange them around in colors and designs.
"Darling, if you ever want to go into this career like your mother and me. All you ever must do is ask me. You could become my apprentice for a whole year." My heart leapt in my chest. The thought of becoming my grandmother's apprentice truly excited me to my very core. My mother had told me she practically went all around the world with her to gain inspiration from places like Paris, Italy, and Rome.
"It would be a great honor! Nothing would make me any happier to be able to go with you!" My grandmother gave me a comforting smile. "I'm truly happy to hear that. I think we should go to Hawaii first as our first destination. The flora on that island would be a wonderful source of inspiration for new products."
A quick buzz could be heard from my grandmother's purse. She reached into her bag and, with a click of a button, she answered the call. She held her phone to her ear and answered with her usual response. "You have reached Molly Jefferson, what is the reason behind your call?"
My grandmother nodded her head softly after a few seconds. "Yes, I have remembered to do as you asked." She placed her hand on her forehead. I have learned over the years that when she does that, it means she's starting to grow agitated by whoever was talking to her over the phone.
"Look here, you may be the one with the project. But I am the one paying for it. So, if you want to see another penny in your pocket, you better not snap at me like that ever again! Do you understand me?"
Before the person on the other end could even say anything else, my grandmother disconnected the call and stuffed her phone back in her purse.
"I'm sorry, honey bunch, but I need to head to the office to speak to the man I'm sponsoring. I know I told you over the phone that I would be able to spend all day with you-"
"It's alright grandmama. I could just head home. I have some homework to complete anyways. I will call you later tonight." I called out, putting my new shoes back in the box. I walked outside of the shoe store. I felt my own phone start to buzz in my pocket.
"Hmm?" I pulled out my cell phone and noticed a blazing green symbol on my phone. My eyes grew wide because I had never seen anything like this before. "W-What is this?" A woman's scream filled my ears. I reeled my head back in terror from the loud and sudden noise. I felt as if my very being was being torn into.
Was anyone else hearing this? This woman was screaming bloody murder. Looking out from the corner of my eyes, I noticed other people passing me. Not one of them even seemed to notice the screams. I was so confused.
I bit my lip as the screams continued to pour from my phone. I opened the back of my phone and pulled out the battery. The symbol faded away from my phone, but the screams still filled my mind. They were so horrific. Who... called me? It had to be a scam. I just don't understand the point behind it. I'm just happy I didn't answer whoever was on the other line. I didn't freak out, however, I was able to keep a calm mind and turn off my phone. What I want to know is what on Earth was the deal with the screaming?!
I frowned softly and peered over to the food court. I might as well get some food to calm my nerves. I stuffed my phone and battery in my purse and took a steady breath before I made my way forward.

(Temporal Loop City)
Drolanamon's P.O.V.
Making my way through the crowded city was a challenge. It was constant shoulder to shoulder traffic. "Coming through." I grumbled, pushing myself through a Garurumon and Galgomon. "Someone, please help me!" A feminine voice cried over the crowd. Upon hearing it, I peered through the crowd.
My eyes landed on, from what I could tell, an Adeamon standing beside a statue. Her body was composed of a metallic bronze material along with eyes of a brilliant gold. Her antennae shook softly as she stared around the crowd around her. Around her wrist was a silver bracelet. Attached to the bracelet were large silver needles, almost like a sai blade.

"I need help, quick! He is going to kill my friend!" She cried desperately out through the crowd. Digimon quickly walked past her, trying to avoid any confrontation. I've seen it before. Too much for my taste, to be honest. I approached her cautiously as I was unsure what to expect. All I know is that I am in no mood for anyone mugging me tonight. I don't think that is the type of fun WereGarurumon was talking about.
"Hey." I announced my presence. The Adeamon snapped her head towards me in a shocked expression. She must have noticed the red scarf around my arm. The scarf signified one's membership in the resistance. Those who associated with or knew members of the origination were enemies of the royal knights. They were just as bad as the X-Antibody digimon themselves.
The ant digimon took a few steps back. I could tell that she was considering a retreat.
"I... I-" She began to stutter. She took a deep breath and shook her head.
"M-My name is Adeamon, I come from Server continent. In the desert region. I came to Temporal Loop City with a dear friend of mine. A Gabumon... we met during my travels to this city. But, on our journey, he encountered the gene that has been plaguing the digital world. He became an X-Antibody digimon."
I crossed my arms over my chest and pressed my back against the smooth marble statue behind me. "So, what happened exactly to this friend of yours? Have you lost contact with them?" She shyly shook her head.
"He was arrested by Gallantmon... you know, one of those royal knights?" My heart sank in my chest, while my eyes widened in surprise. I have heard of this before. The royal knights all believed that these X-Antibody digimon were monsters and needed to be exterminated.
"T-tonight, Gallantmon is going to execute him in front of a crowd..." Tears welled up in the ant digimon's eyes. I sighed softly and shook my head. "Look." I groaned.
"I'm just one plain rookie digimon. I may be a part of the rebellion but, by myself, without my squad, I couldn't stand up against a mega level digimon."
Adeamon stared down at her feet. Her body began to tremble slightly. Just looking at this smaller rookie digimon I knew for sure that the thought of losing her friend most likely hurts her.
"T-There... has to be something we could do. Couldn't we distract Gallantmon? Get him away from my friend, while you sneak in and save him? Or... I could..." The ant digimon was trying to come up with scenarios in order to change my mind. This seemed like a death sentence. Facing off with a royal digimon was beyond crazy. Unless you were a mega level digimon, you better have already signed your death warrant.
I shook my head silently and placed my hand on my forehead. "Look, I don't have a plan per se, but let's go witness this execution together. And if I see a chance presented, I will try to help him out the best way I can." Relief flooded the ant digimon's face. "Oh! Thank you very much. I don't know how I can ever repay you." This may not be the type of fun my commander was wanting me to find, but it sounded better than doing nothing with my night.

***
A crowd of onlooking digimon were quietly mumbling amongst each other. In the center of the crowd of digimon was a gallow that stood about five feet high and ten feet across. In the middle of the gallow was a shaking Gabumon X. Tears streamed down his face. The rookie digimon was chained up to the floorboards of the stage. "P-Please someone help me." He whimpered. His voice was low and hopeless. From where I stood in the back of the crowd with Adeamon, I could mouth out every word he said. I could tell that the Gabumon was expecting his death any moment now.
Out of the corner of my right eye, I saw a blur of red light soar through the air. A tomato smacked into Gabumon's horn.
"You're a monster!" A Palmon cried loudly. "Digimon like you need to be terminated!"
"Abomination!"
"Digimon like you need to be forced out of the digital world!"
A Swanmon narrowed her eyes as she pointed her right wing towards him.
"X-Antibody digimon like you attacked the baby digimon I was looking after you. How dare you cry for your life!"
I shook my head softly. The propaganda that was spreading across the digital world was really something. These royal knights decided to conspire with some dark forces to make the X-Antibody digimon look bad.Theree were so many digimon out there that saw them as evil. "Silence!" A male voice boomed through the booing crowd. As if someone flicked a switch, a hush fell upon the crowd.
The voice was mighty and strong. Gallantmon was a knight whose body was covered in white plate armor that was said to glisten in the morning light. Crimson pauldrons with golden trimming sat upon his shoulders. A long, flowing red cape flapped in the wind.
In his main hand was Gram, his trusty lance that was supposed to electrify any opponent who defied him, and in his main hand was his shield, Aegis. The knight stood out in front of Gabumon. His gaze trained all over the digimon in front of him. My heart was racing in my chest. I didn't know how I was going to get Adeamon's friend away. What chance did two rookie digimon have over one mega level digimon?
"What are we going to do?" Adeamon whispered under her breath. I could tell she was still on edge just by listening to her voice. "My name is Gallantmon. I am the tenth royal knight. For thousands of years, my brothers and I have been protecting the digital world from any dark forces that casted their presence in the digital world."
Gallantmon narrowed his eyes as he slammed his right foot on the stage.
"While those digimon who serve under those rebellion forces are just as dangerous as these parasites." Gallantmon seemed to move at the speed of light. His leg struck at Gabumon's stomach. The reptile digimon cried out as the wind was knocked out from him.
"P-please... it wasn't my faul, t" He wept. Adeamon eyes shook in terror as her friend was attacked.
I gritted my teeth. Not only was he a bastard for attacking a defenseless digimon, he called my fellow soldiers and I vermin. We protected the digital world just as he did. My fist balled tightly at my sides. How dare he! How could he truly utter those words? I have served with hundreds of digimon who have sacrificed their lives to make the digital world a safer place.  He is going to pay for this.
Without another moment's thought, I started to push my way forward through a group of Gazimon who protested my intrusion. "Hey, watch where you are going, punk!" A male hissed after me. Instead of knocking the rabbit digimon on his ass, I harnessed my rage and used it instead to continue propelling me forward. I could hear Adeamon silently protesting behind me. She must've figured that I would've caused a scene big enough to catch Gallantmon's attention. Well, if she did think that, she was right. I couldn't care less right now if that royal knight spotted me now. He just insulted everything I believed in and fought for.
Gallantmon turned his attention back to the crowd. "These X-Antibody digimon have been allowed to live among us for far too long. By the order of King Drasil himself, all X-Antibody digimon must be brought to their knees and be exterminated." The knight held his lance underneath the rookie digimon's throat. "Give me one good reason, that your pitiful life should be spared."
"I- I never attended to be fused with this virus!" He cried. The digimon was shaking uncontrollably. I could tell that he knew just as much as I did, that it was pointless to even beg for his life. "I was on my travels with my friend Adeamon... and the virus came out of nowhere. Before...I knew it, I became this."
Gallantmon seemed to pause for a moment. It was as if he was considering what the rookie digimon just told him. In an instant, the royal knight growled and lashed out with his lance towards Gabumon's throat. I thought it was hopeless, I truly thought he was done for.
Before a clash was heard, standing in front of Gallantmon was my commander, WereGarurumon. His eyes were narrowed, and his teeth were bared.
"This was your idea for fun!?" My commander snarled as his attention quickly snapped towards me. The majority of the crowd glanced over to me. I knew my cover had been blown. I was out in the open and the bandana around my arm was a dead giveaway that I was a member of the rebellion.
"What?! You're Bluefang! One of the commanders of the rebellion forces! You have come for your own execution!" Gallantmon the knight snarled as he slammed his shield, Aegis, into my commander's chest. He was knocked back a few feet from the mega level digimon.
"Shield of the just!" With a quick flash of his shield, a blast of holy energy shot out from his shield. WereGarurumon snarled as he dive-rolled out of the way from the attack.
His claws slashed at the chains that imprisoned the Gabumon. My commander grabbed the rookie digimon nearly with ease and tossed him in my direction. "Get him out of here! Now!" I held out my arms and caught the screaming rookie digimon, but nearly fell to the ground. He weighed almost a ton and I had to use all my strength to stand my ground.
"I'm not leaving without you!" I yelled back at him. "You never leave a man behind!"
"Wolf Claw!" The ultimate level digimon roared as he pounced forward. His claws surged with cybernetic red energy. Gallantmon deflecting the claws with his shield.
"That was an order, soldier! Don't you dare disobey me!" He snarled as he jumped up and kneed Gallentmon in his chest. Gallentmon stood still as the attack truly did nothing to him. His head peered over at the crowd. "Listen here! Whoever succeeds in the capture of the Drolanmon and that parasite will be rewarded heavily!"
"Damn it!" I growled. I grabbed Gabumon's paw and tugged him along with me. I truly didn't want to leave my commander. He wouldn't be able to fight Gallantmon all alone. I shouldn't have gotten myself involved in this situation without my fellow troops.
"This is bad!" Adeamon whispered to me. The ant digimon ran besides the two of us.
"A- Adeamon I'm so happy to see you!" Tears welled in Gabumon's eyes.
"I-I thought I was going to die..." Gabumon whimpered. The three of us pushed our way through the crowd. In front of us were shocks of surprise from other digimon along with some of them attempting to grab us.  "Pummel Whack!" Just as we made our way through the crowd, a blast of purple energy soared over our heads and slammed into a pushcart up ahead. The cart erupted into flames. I quickly peered over my shoulder to see an Ogremon, along with three Goblimon following him.
"We have company, guys! Keep your head forward!" I commanded. The two nodded their heads quickly. "Which way should we go?!" Adeamon asked worriedly. I quickly peered my way down the busy streets and my eyes finally landed on a narrow alley. "This way!" I rushed forward with the two in tow. They weren't like my usual partners that I was used to, but I was going to make sure they will make it out alive.
"Boulder throw!" Three loud roars filled the air behind us. Boulders crashed down in front of us. "Shit!" I hissed. I quickly spun around to see Ogremon with his three goonies standing by his side. I threw my hands in the air as I summoned a current of water to start appearing by my side. "Roaring wave!" The torrent of water rushed forward and slammed into the four digimon chasing after us.
"Psst!" Something called from afar. My gaze snapped down to the right side of the alleyway. I was surprised to see the same Epipamon I saw when atop the roof. She was motioning us towards her. "I can get you all to safety. Please, follow me!"
"Come on you two." I commanded. Adeamon and Gabumon nodded as they quickly followed me. "Where are you going to take us?" Adeamon quickly asked the plant based digimon.

Epipamon led us down to the end of the alleyway and removed a large piece of cardboard. Behind the piece of cardboard was surprising to say the least. It was almost like a portal to a brightly colored forest. The trees were large and had bright neon colored leaves. Instead of a jet black sky like it was here in the city, the sky on the other side of this 'portal' was bright blue, and the sun was shining brightly in the sky.
"How is this possible?" Adeamon uttered in complete astonishment.
"We don't have time to question this. Everyone, through that portal now!" she ushered. I growled and pushed Gabumon and Adeamon into the portal. The two gasped in surprise. I gazed back at Epipamon. "Are you coming with us? I wouldn't want to leave you behind with those freakshows."
A giggle came from behind her mask. "Why yes, I do plan to come with you. The Mirage woods is a treacherous path. I could lead you to the Epipamon village. Once there, you three would be more than welcome to stay with us as long as you like." I gave a quick nod. As I jumped into the portal, I peered behind me to see Epipamon pulling the cardboard box over the porta, then stepped through a moment afterwards. The plant digimon gave a small curtsey.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all."
Gabumon wiped away the tears that stained his cheeks. "I- I truly thought I was going to die today. I lost any hope I had left." Adeamon placed her hand on his shoulder and patted it. "Everything will be alright." She reassured him with a soft smile. As they talked, I hoisted a finger back at the portal that was now starting to disappear in thin air. "So...how do those portals actually work?"
Epipamon sighed happily. "It is due to the digital world's mother of course."
Oh great... one of those religious folks. I wasn't one who believed in that religious bullshit. How could they know if all of that was true, if they have never seen these so-called 'Gods' with their own eyes? All they have were fucking words for Pete's sake. I crossed my arms over my chest and raised an eyebrow.
     "Is that so?"
"Of course, when my people ever need help, the Goddess Paumamon will always provide for us. Even if it is as simple as seeking refuge. Our mother has always been a kind goddess. She always wants to make sure the Digital World was a place for peace."
I rolled my eyes. This was the same bullshit I have heard millions of times before. All they had was words. But where in the hell was the proof? Gabumon stared down at his claws.
"I'm sorry to cause all of you the trouble." He whimpered.
"Hun... it's not your fault. It's the royal knights. They are killing off any digimon that have gained this virus. No one is safe as of right now because they are afraid of anything different. Anything that went against their wills-"
As if to answer what she was speaking, our day went from worse to even worse. A flash of three different colored lights flashed in the sky above us. The images blazed brightly in different colors. A burning blue, a vibrant yellow, and a pulsating green. All of us gasped as these symbols grew and became large seals. I couldn't believe this. Those were three of the seven seals.
"Envy..., Gluttony and Lust." I shook my head in disbelief. I have heard of these seals before. These seals held powerful evil forces. Just standing in front of them sent a shiver down my spine. The demon lords who harness their powers have been long defeated by digidestined. But how could their powers still be flowing in the digital world? It didn't make sense.
Suddenly I felt as if my vision was slowly losing focus. Out of my own accord, I slowly started to feel my feet trudging forward to the symbol of Envy. Why can't I stop moving? What was forcing me to move towards this emblem?
        "W-What's wrong with you guys?"
Out of the corner of my eyes. I could see Adeamon and even Epipamon making their way to the other two symbols. The two of them moved as if they too were in a trance. The ant digimon slowly made her way to the emblem of Gluttony while Epipamon was stepping into the energy of lust.
This energy was something different entirely. It was like I could hear the heartbeat of the ocean in my ears, the crash of water slamming into the rocky shoreline. This power was flowing through my very being. It was as if this energy was finding its way into my very DigiCore. Why did it feel so welcoming? Envy was such an evil power. Shouldn't it hurt? Before I could question this any further, everything went out of view. I could no longer hear or feel anything.

(Winterfield Mall)
Skylar's P.O.V.
I sighed softly as I peered down at my cell phone. It was seven o'clock at night, and I still haven't heard back from Ivan's father. Where could he be? Was he running late? I wish he would text me that he was running late. But of course, I wouldn't mind. I still will get paid either way.
I set my phone down on the steel tabletop. The smell of my chili fries drifted into my nose. I decided to take Ivan to the local mall so the two of us could just chill for a little bit before his father got back. Ivan was enjoying a cheeseburger with a warm smile. He swallowed the bite that was currently in his mouth and turned his attention to me. "Thank you, Skylar."
I patted him softly on top of his head. "Don't mention it, little guy. After the crazy evening we had, I think some snack food would be better than anything I could whip up at the apartment." The two of us exchanged a small chuckle. Above our heads. The air conditioning seemed to cough before it started to change temperature.
"Geez, it's freezing" A voice came from behind me. I peered over my shoulder to see Tiffany standing behind me. Held in one hand was a bag from her grandmother's shoe store. The girl was shivering as she was trying to keep herself warm. "She's right." Ivan's teeth chattered as he shook. "Skylar... it's freezing."
Tiffany's eyes locked on mine. Instead of having her usual jerk demeanor, I could see a look of fear in her eyes. "H- Hey... would it be alright if I sit with you losers for a little bit. I don't really have anyone to sit with." I felt truly tempted to tell her to scram, but I couldn't stoop down to her level. I exhaled softly and gestured to the seat to the right of me. "Of- Of course."
Tiffany pulled the chair away from the table and sat down and scooted herself up to the table. "God... who in the hell is running the temperature in this mall? I feel like I'm on vacation again when daddy took us up to Alaska. I'm definitely not wearing the proper attire." The blonde placed some hair over her right ear.
I rolled my eyes. I could tell from the look that Ivan was giving off, that he was slightly annoyed by Tiffany's snooty attitude. I drummed my fingers along the table in front of us.
"Well, maybe there is just something wrong with the unit. I'm sure mall security have received several complaints already."
"They better believe so. If they don't get this changed right away, they will hear from my daddy." She snapped. As the blonde uttered this, she dived into her pocket to retrieve her phone. Her face slowly grew pale as she stared down at the screen of her phone. In her outstretched hand, I could see that her phone's battery was beside her phone.
"O-oh yeah..." she said as if she was holding an embarrassing photo. Tiffany quickly returned her phone and battery back into her pocket without another word. Ivan pointed ahead of us and gasped. "Skylar, look!" My eyes grew wide. I couldn't believe what was occurring in front of us. It was as if people were slowly fading away out of existence. As this occurred, the floors and the walls around us started to crackle and pop as everything was encased with solid blue ice. The three of us quickly got to our feet in disbelief and shocked. Ivan blew into the air and chuckled as he witnessed his breath forming into a clear white vapor.
"What the hell?!" Tiffany screamed. "What happened to everyone? Where in the hell are we?" The blonde's screams filled the large area around us. It seemed to echo around us. I just couldn't believe all of this. It was almost like we all entered the twilight zone. I placed my hand on the icy walls. The wall felt cold to the touch, and almost like I was touching glass. The cold sent a shiver down my spine.
Ivan rubbed his arm sheepishly. "I- I really don't like how we are all alone. What happened to everyone else?"
"That's the million-dollar question. Why is this only happening to the three of us?" I crossed my arms over my chest. "This may just be a freak accident. Like a shift. I have read about people experiencing situations like that before. One moment they are driving down a familiar stretch of road, the next they see a futuristic city in the distance."
The blonde scoffed. "Yeah, we totally traveled through time to the ice age." I frowned softly as I heard a ringing sound. The ringing was soft as if someone was rubbing an object against steel. I peered up to the second floor and felt a shock course through my body. Standing on the railing was what I could only describe as a snowman bear. The bear was returning my gaze.
"Okay... things went from weird to freaky." Tiffany mumbled from behind me.
"Intruders. What are you three doing here?" I placed my hands outstretched in front of me. I felt my legs underneath me shake uncontrollably. I wasn't expecting the bear to speak, let alone assuming the three of us were trespassing into his territory.
"We actually don't know how we all got here. We didn't mean to intrude whatsoever. If you would be so kind to let us know how to get out of here, we would be more than welcome to get out of your hair... erm snow?"
The snowman then launched himself from the railing he stood upon and thrusted his fist into the ground as if he didn't hear a word I just said. A flurry of ice and snow flew past us. Our hair and clothes whipped around us.
"U-Um I don't know about you guys. But I-" Tiffany started taking a few hesitant steps back. "-Am going to RUN!" She screamed. Tiffany whirled around as she started to sprint away. I quickly picked Ivan up in my arms and started to race after the blonde. How could this be happening? This was all happening so fast without a moment at all for any of us to catch our breath.
"To think you all could get away." The bear creature's laughter seemed to boom throughout the icy mall. It seemed to shatter through my very being. A blast of cold wind whistled above our heads.
"You know, when I told my mother that I wanted to go to the mall, I truly thought it was going to be relaxing! All I wanted was a new pair of heels!" Tiffany cried. The blonde shook her head. "Why do bad things always happen to good people?!" God... was that girl that oblivious? I was surprised to see what direction Tiffany was running in. She was heading to the exit. But either she was too worried, or she wasn't thinking that the doors to the exit would most likely be shut.
Tiffany pushed forward ahead of me as she ran face first into the door.  A loud 'thump' was heard as she collided with the frozen shut door. "Damn it!" She whined as she tried to use her weight against the door to force it open.
I gritted my teeth as I slowly turned around to face the snow bear. I couldn't understand why he was trying to attack us. It wasn't like we meant any harm to him. The bear leaned back and took a huge intake of breath. His stomach seemed to expand with air.
"Skylar...what is he doing?" Ivan asked timidly. "I- I don't know. But I think we are about to find out." I spoke worriedly. "Icy breath!" The bear released a huge stream of ice blast. The blast spread towards us at a high velocity. I closed my eyes tight and waited for the cold to envelope us. I felt Ivan pressing his face against my chest. A worried shout escaped from his lips. Tiffany's scream filled my ears. This was truly how I was going to die... I wanted to do so much with my life.
A few moments seemed to pass, but the cold never came. I slowly opened my eyes to see three auras of light flowing directly in front of us. Ivan slowly turned his face to the aura of different colored lights. Blue, yellow and green lights seem to radiate brightly. A single beam of light shot out towards us and found itself wrapping around my wrist.
The beam of yellow light formed around Ivan's wrist while Tiffany gasped as the green light materialized around hers. The beams of light pulsated and started to take shape around each of our wrists until it formed a bright blue bracelet around mine. Then, what appeared to be portals started to materialize.
From within the portals, three figures started to take shape in front of us. An alligator shaped creature stood before me. An Ant based being appeared beside Ivan while, finally, a plant like figure formed in front of Tiffany.
The alligator creature shook his head, as he placed a shaky hand on his forehead.
"What in the world?" He grumbled to himself. "Where did those seals bring us to?"
The being that appeared to look like an ant turned her head in our direction.
"Those are humans." She said in utter shock. "Which means... That they are our human partners. A new group of digidestined." Tiffany placed her hands on both sides of her head. She grasped the green bracelet around her wrist tightly. "Okay. Can we all just stop for one moment. This is just going way too fast for me to comprehend."
The alligator monster gritted his teeth as he stared between us, the three humans. "Dammit, this is going to complicate things." He groaned. He turned his direction to the polar bear incident that was currently in front of us. "One problem at a time though."
"More intruders!? How dare you invade my caverns. You all will pay for this." The bear raced forward as icy wind started to cover his fist. The snow bear was sprinting towards the plant being. She gasped as she saw the incoming attack. She started to twirl around in a circle as a flurry of blue petals started to whirl around her. "Flora surprise!"
The bear cried out as the petals scraped through his body. The ice breeze fading away from his fist. The ant monster pounced forward. The blades on her wrist were glowing with a bright yellow aura. "Scout's strike!" The ant drove the blades through his back, earning a loud screech from the bear.
Ivan watched the three new incomers with an intrigued look. "They are like superheroes." He whispered in awe. The bear reached behind his back and grabbed ahold of the ant on his back, then threw her forward into the plant being. The two cried out as they collided against one another.
The alligator growled as he jumped on top of a bench and sprinted along it as water rushed behind him. The gator thrusted his hands forward as the water surged towards the ice bear. "Roaring Wave!" The alligator thrusted his hands forward. The waves rushed forward and, before it struck, the bear reared back as his chest expanded, filling with air once more.
"Icy breath!" The water that rushed towards the bear was concealed in ice. The alligator jumped onto the stream of water that was now encased in ice. His eyes were narrowed as he reared his right fist back. He struck the polar bear across his face with the spikes on his glove. The bear cried out as the fist connected perfectly.
The alligator back-flipped, his claws glowing with a fierce blue energy.
"Quick strike!" With cat-like movement, he drove his claws through the bear's chest. His hand stuck out the other side of the snow bear.
On the tip of his claws was a small mechanical device that was hexagonal in shape. The device was blinking uncontrollably, but it slowly sputtered out. With that, the bear in front of us dissolved in a flurry of blue fragments.
With the threat now removed from the equation, the plant and ant creatures stood up to their feet and peered over at the three of us, who were still in complete astonishment with what happened. "Who are you guys? And could you all please explain what the hell is happening?"
Tiffany spoke, rather annoyed. The alligator rolled his eyes as he crossed his arms over his chest. He shook his head. Finally, he spoke. "My name is Drolanmon."  He gestured to the plant being who stood to his right. "This here is Epipamon, and to my left is Adeamon. We are not of your world. We come from a place called the digital world, where beings called Digimon reside."
I took a shaky breath as I finally answered the question that was probably on Tiffany's mind as well. "What does this have to do with us?"
"You have been chosen. As of right now, I do not know what for. Humans have been chosen throughout history to help protect the digital and human world. Quite frankly, I think humans should stick their heads out of our business, but I didn't choose to be here. However, these humans are called digidestined. They are partnered to a digimon partner that will protect them from digimon that attack you. In turn, human emotions allow digimon to evolve. To become stronger. It's hard to explain without you all seeing in person."
A huge grin spread across Ivan's face as he stared at the three digimon in front of us. "Who is my superhero friend?" He asked rather excitedly. I felt worry starting to spread in my chest. He was eight years old. He was too young to be caught up in this mess. What if a stronger enemy that wasn't a cute snowman teddy bear showed up? What then? What if 'Dolan-man' or whatever, and the other 'digimon' can't protect us?
Adeamon smiled warmly as she stepped forward. "That would be me, little one. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
       "So cool!"
The ant digimon giggled softly as she held a hand over her pincers. Epipamon strolled her way over to Tiffany. The blonde took a few hesitant steps back. I could obviously tell that Tiffany was against the grotesque appearance of the being stepping towards her. Epipamon stopped walking as she gripped the end of her blue floral dress and curtsied.
"I'm your partner digimon." Tiffany's eyes grew wide as dinner plates as she peered over at the creature. "Oh, hell no! I didn't sign up for this shit. I didn't ask to be partnered with you!"
"Well, whoop de doo, blondie. We didn't ask for this either. But we are here too. So let's all work together as long as the digital world requires and we don't have to see one another again." Tiffany narrowed her eyes at Drolanmon's sudden outburst. She was about to say something back, but I held up a hand to stop her. "What happened to this place? One moment we were surrounded by people and sitting in a public mall and then, in the next, this whole place suddenly got covered in ice."
Epipamon held her right hand in the air. "I have heard of this phenomenon before. A friend of mine got caught up in it once before. It's called a digital shift. Some parts of the digital world merge into the human world for a short period of time." As if to confirm her answer, the ice started to melt from the walls and disappear into thin air. People began to materialize around us. They, however, seemed to not notice the digimon standing beside us, probably because they were too bothered by whatever they had on their minds.
"I suggest we get out of this place. Too many eyes for my liking. We should try to regroup tomorrow. Gives you kids some time to process all of this and maybe even get to know us." I felt a buzz in my pocket and noticed that Ivan's father had texted me saying that he had gotten home. "Plus, I need to drop Ivan off home." I said.
I may not have known that all these events would change my life forever then, but I will soon realize that being a digidestined was no easy task. But I was going to give it my all. Not just for myself, but to protect everyone I care about.
