(Digital world)

The Digimon emperor and Wormmon were walking along the frozen tundra. The emperor held a whip tightly in his gloved hand. His hand shaking firmly. The snow was coming down rather hard on the two of them as they trudged towards the dark tower that stood before them. The tower gave him full control of all Digimon in this region. Soon, he would regain his territories that he lost to those spoiled brats that felt like they could play hero. 

As the emperor looked down below. He could see his Gizamon workers laying down in a pile. All of them look rather exhausted and seem to be trying to catch their breath. A scowl formed along his lips as his fist shook in rage. 

"Who told you all that you could take a break!?" The Digimon emperor roared. He lashed his whip in the air. Causing all the Gizamon to jump up in fear and rush back to picking up steel beams and hoping along through the bitter cold. Panting heavily as they all worked. 

The Digimon emperor finally leaned back and let out a sigh of relief. He didn't want his hard work to go for nothing. Wormmon drew closer to him. Holding on tightly to a brown coat with white seams. The worm Digimon seemed to appear a little worried for the boy. "Pick this one. It's cold." 

The emperor growled in annoyance from just his voice alone. He lashed out by kicking the worm Digimon straight in his gut. Causing the rookie Digimon to sprawl out flat on his back." Leave me alone!"

The emperor attention shot straight back to his workers down below. Just in time to see a Gizamon fall down. The boy reared his whip back high. "Get up! I don't have time for you weak little Digimon!" 

The boy expected a clean strike when he lashed out with his whip. He wasn't expecting an aquatic Digimon to jump out and catch it in his paws. He recognized the Digimon to be a Gomamon. One of the Digimon he caught to work alongside these Gizamon. He appeared to be stronger than these worthless rookie Digimon. He was quite the hard one to crack. He always seemed to be a beacon of hope for the other workers. 

"Hey, quit it! They're all tired and need rest!" The emperor narrowed his eyes down at him as he continued to speak. "Maybe someone should use that whip on you, you big bully!" Gomamon spat at him defiantly. "And I know just the person too. She would slap you straight to the other side of the digital world if she could get her hands on you." 

"Number 1, don't ever talk to me without calling me 'Sir'. Number 2, Don't ever talk to me!" The emperor tugged roughly on the handle of the whip, causing Gomamon to lose his grip and fall. " Whoever among you can destroy this creature will get a special prize package. The rest will get some lovely parting gifts. So, who is up for the challenge?" He asked with a grin. 

It was a pity. This Gomamon may have been useful to him if he didn't inspire the other Gizamon. Hopefully, his little gifts would change the Gizamon's minds if this little pest was destroyed. He didn't need any more problems in this world... no, his world. No one was going to stop him from taking over this miserable world. 

The Gizamon all started to surround Gomamon. The seal Digimon appeared to look taken back. He wasn't expecting all of them to turn on him. The emperor couldn't help but laugh at his dumbfounded face. 

"I know all about Gizamon. They're amphibian Digimon with webbed feet. Their fins cut through the water like knives. And given a chance to be treated better, they would even turn on you." 

"They won't attack me!" Gomamon fought off the emperor chastising. He truly looked like he didn't believe him. Oh, what a fool this seal was. Just on que, two of the Gizamon jumped into the air and spun around like a spinning top before they both rammed into Gomamon. Causing the seal Digimon to cry out in pain. 

"That was way too easy." 

Wormmon walked out in front of the boy.  "Yeah, they've defeated him master. Now tell them what they've won."

The Digimon Emperor smirks as he gives a curt nod. "Right." He snapped his fingers as black rings appeared in the air above him. The rings wrapped around the Gizamon's neck. None of them had the chance to run away from his control.  "Here's your reward. You all get the honor of being my slaves. Now get back to work on building that prison!" The Gizamon all nodded before they all started to lift up the beams, now starting to move to a speed, to more his liking.  "Move it, Wormmon. I want you to make me a hot chocolate."

Wormmon quickly followed after the boy. "But what about Gomamon?" he asked, curious, looking back at the unconscious seal Digimon. 

The boy waved it off as if it was no concern to him at all. "Let him freeze."

Gomamon slowly opened his eyes. He felt badly hurt. His eyes scanned the surrounding area. Feeling relived that the royal brat was now gone. "I've just got to climb up this little hill." 

Gomamon began to climb up the hill. Feeling the snow pelting his back as he struggled up the hill. It felt as if he was climbing for what felt like hours. All he could think about was trying to call for help. Joe's and Skylar's faces appeared in his mind. He wished the two of them could help him out at the moment. "Okay, maybe it's not such a little hill after all. Huh? What's that? "

In the distance, the seal Digimon was able to see what he could only describe as a television underneath a hump of snow. Gomamon moved his way over to the device. The rookie Digimon fell before it out and cried out "Joe" 

Elsewhere, Joe was standing in a hallway with two close friends of his. Ryan and Ted, the three of them were discussing their anatomy class. It was quite the relief to talk about school instead of the struggles of the digital world with Skylar for three hours. It just caused him a lot more stress than he needed. He just wished Skylar would talk to him about other things. Just as these thoughts came into his mind, he heard his digivice going off. He moved his coat aside to see the screen flashing red. He knew it was a distress signal. "Gomamon!"

"So, are you guys ready for that big anatomy test today?" Ryan asked as he looked between Joe and Ted. 

"Yeah, I spent the whole night looking in the mirror." Ted announced with a confident grin. He then peered over at Joe, who had just closed his fist around his digivice.  "What about you, Joe?"

Joe panicked a little bit as he stared between the two of them. "Uh, I just remembered I forgot to remember something. Gotta go." Joe quickly dashes away from his friends. Reaching into his pocket to withdraw his cellphone. Already texting the first person to come to his mind.

Joe: Skylar!

Joe changed his path from running in the hallway to a brisk walk. He didn't want to get in trouble after all. His worries soon ebbed, when he heard the notification that he received a text.

Skylar:  What's up Joe? What's wrong?

Joe sighed in relief that she caught the message quickly. He quickly typed up another message and sent it quickly.

Joe: I just had a strange feeling.

He stopped walking to wait for her response. Which didn't take that long at all.

Skylar:  Aww, Joe's becoming a man! ❤️

Joe deadpan at her response. Imagining the playful tone she would use to tease him. The boy's face turned to a little bit of annoyance as he texted his concerns to her.

Joe: It isn't that Skylar. I feel like something is wrong with Gomamon. My digivice was going haywire.

He ran a hand through his hair as he waited for her to replay.

Skylar:  What?! Oh gosh, I wish I could come and help, but I am stuck with my mom's book club, and their is no such thing as leaving... I'm stuck here...

Joe groaned a little. He wished Skylar could help him like she did in the old days.

Skylar: Try to get in touch with Davis and the others. I'm sure they could help you out. And who knows, Mr. Party pooper. Maybe Gomamon just wants to hang out. But either way, please keep me updated. 🙏

Joe sighed softly. His annoyance finally easing off. As he sent one last response.

Joe: Of course. Maybe this isn't a big thing that I am making it. I'll keep in touch.

Joe pocketed his cell phone and walked out the door of his school. He needed to make his way to the elementary school. To find the new digidestined. They would be able to take him to the digital world. Hopefully, Gomamon was okay...he thought worridly.

Jeremy and Simon were walking along the sidewalk. The two of them decided to hang out. After the two of them were finished with school.

Elecmon was following close beside the two of them in the bushes.

"You know, these dark towers have been appearing more frequently in the digital world." Simon groaned. "Everytime we knock five down. It's almost like the digimon emperor gracious us with fifty more."

Jeremy hummed softly. "You make a good point. He always seems to be ahead of us. He isn't really worried that we knock one down."

Elecmon spoked up. "This boy is a dictator through and through. He isn't worried about your guys' attacks. He sees you all as nothing as little as flees. We need to increase our numbers so we can make more of a threat."

Simon grinned. "You know Elecmon, that's a great idea. If Tai and the gang could join us. We could all split up and bring those towers down all over the place. Then, the digimon emperor would have a real fun time putting them back up."

Elecmon nodded. "Who knows, we may even be able to lay out a trap for him." He suggested.

Jeremy stopped in his tracks. "Are you suggesting we all came up with a plan so we can trap the digimon emperor?"

Elecmon shrugged his shoulders. "I mean, there were times that I would stop a rampaging digimon in the past by trapping them," He pointed out.

Jeremy rested a hand on his chin. "It's just... I don't know. What are we going to do with him from there? Beg him to stop with his reign of the digital world?"

Simon frowned. "Geez man...will this ever stop."

Inside of the elementary school. Davis was walking out of his last class of the day. When he noticed Cody walking by. Davis quickly dashed over to the younger boy. Calling out to him as he ran. "Cody!"

Cody stopped in his tracks when he noticed him. His foot on the staircase. "Oh hi, Davis. What's up?"

Davis placed his hands on his hips.  "What's up? Where are you going?" He asked curiously

Cody shrugged his shoulders. "I'm going home. I have kendo practice this afternoon, " He informed the older boy.

Davis took a step back in surprise. "What? Pratice later! The digital world is in danger!" He protested. He couldn't believe that the boy was about to let things go...

"I'm sorry, Davis. But my grandfather is the teacher and he would be very disappointed if I missed a practice. Seeya."

Cody gave him a small wave, before he started to make his way down the steps.

Davis held out a hand and whispered.  "Yeah, but..." 

"What's the matter with you?" Kari asked as she came down the hall to see Davis standing in front of the staircase.

"Kari!" Hearing the sound of Kari's voice turned his worries away. " I'm going to the computer room. Why don't you join me?"

Kari shrugged. "Sure, let's go!"

Davis grinned as he placed a hand to his chin. "Really? You and I together, all along in the dangerous digital world?" He clasped his hands together a blush forming on his cheeks. "It'll be like my dream come true!"

Kari blinked a little taken back. "Excuse me?"

Davis quickly tried to wave away what he said. Feeling really embarrassed with what he said. "'I'm studying french. Parlez-vous?'"

When the two of them finally made it to the computer room.  They found T.K and Yolei already there. The two of them were peering over at the computer screen.

Davis groaned at the sight of the two of them. His thoughts of being alone with Kari being dimenished. "Ugh...I just can't win."

"Hey Davis." Jeremy said to him as he made his way through the door behind him. With Simon and Elecmon in tow.

Davis salked further. Now, the whole gang was together. "Yep... my luck is terrible today."

Chicchimon, who was sitting perched on top of a cabinet, flew towards his partner. Landing on top of Simon's head. "It's great to see you, Simon."

Simon grinned up at his digimon. "You can't get rid of me that easily. I am here to kick some digimon emperor butt bro!"

Kari made her way over to Yolei and T.k. smiling softly as she listened to Simon talking to Chicchimon. "What's up, guys?"

TK peered back to look over at Kari. "We just got a signal from the digital world. It's a distress call from one of the digimon!"

" Who?" Kari asked as she leaned in to check out the computer herself.

TK shook his head. "I'm not really sure yet!"

Davis, Jeremy and Simon quickly joined the other. The three of them were just as concerned.

"Geez, does that emperor ever take any vacation days?" Simon asked outloud.

"I mean, if he did, I guess we would be out of the job." Jeremy chuckled.

"I've got it!" Yolei announced to her friends. "The signal is coming from one of the black areas controlled by the digimon emperor! But it's a lot further than any area we've ever been to!"

"Well, this should add to our frequent flyer miles!" Kari pointed out, trying to lighten the mood.

"Who knows. If things calm down, all of us could take a vacation." Jeremy joked, trying his best to joke with her.

"Hopefully, flyer points with the digital world. Would be able to take us all to Hawaii." Kari agreed

Yolei adjusted her glasses. "According to the map, the emperor's area is getting a lot bigger. I bet his ego is, too!"

"That moron never seemed to let his captives forget it, so you're right about that." Elecmon agreed.

Davis grimaces. "It won't be long until he controls the entire digital world!"

Kari bit her lip. "Then every single digimon is in danger."  

Davis notices Kari's worry and balls his fists. "Alright, I've had enough of this clown! Let's head to the digital world!"

Upamon frowned at the boy's urgency to leave. "But we have to wait for Cody to get here!"

"He's not coming!"

"We are a team," Jeremy pointed out.

"I know that, but he said he had something more important to do" Davis fired back

Simon raised an eyebrow. "Davis sometimes, we all will have things come up. So why don't you stop blaming Cody for something he can't control."

Davis stared a little annoyed between the two guys. Before his attention was brought back to Upamon.

"What's he doing?"

"He says he has kendo practice." 

"One question, What's kendo?" Upamon asked a little puzzled.

Davis shrugged as he picked up a discarded magazine and hit Upamon on top of the head. Causing the small little Digimon on top of his head.

"What did you hit me for?" Upamon protested.

Elecmon growled as he made his way in front of Davis. "Kid...don't make me lose my temper. I wouldn't want to hurt someone. "

Davis felt flustered. Why is everyone getting so defensive with him. It's almost like whenever he joined the conversation, he said something wrong. Every time he tried to have fun. Everyone acted as if he had grown two Horns.

Davis held out a hand in the direction of Upamon. "He wanted to know what kendo is!" He protested.

"But that doesn't give you a reason to hit him. " Yolei pointed out.

Davis turns around and crosses his arms over his chest.

That kid had a lot of problems...and he is supposed to be the leader of the group? Elecmon grimaces as he thinks of this. Tai and Davis seemed to be like two different people.

Upamon blinked at Davis. Before be looks over at his other fellow digimon.

Cody and his grandfather were standing across from each other. The two of them were wearing their kendo uniforms. As they squared off.

Cody felt concern ebbing in him as he held his kendo stick. As he thought about Upamon and his friends. What if something happened while he was here training with his grandfather. Could he have changed the outcome...if he was there to assist.

Before he had time to react his grandfather pounced forward and smacked him on top of his head gear. Gaining a point from Cody.

"Let's take a break." His grandfather suggested as he took off his face gear.  "What's the matter with you today, Cody? You just don't seem to be concentrating enough."

Cody sighed sadly. "I'm sorry, grandfather."

Grandfather frowned slightly. "Have you lost interest in the martial arts? Or hanging out with your old Grandpa?"

"I can read faces. Your expression tells me something is troubling you deep down inside. You father acted the same way when he was a boy. I have been to many lands and met many people, and in my travels, I have found only one thing I can depend on. Prune juice!" As he spoke he opened up a little bag. Which he brought out a little packet of prune juice. Which he took a quick sip of.

Cody blinked. "Huh?"

"Yep, take two big glasses. You want some?" His grandfather asked with a grin as he held out another packet.

Cody shook his head softly. "No thanks. I'm afraid my problem is even too big for prune juice."

His grandfather hummed softly. "Hmm?"

Cody frowned before he spoke. "There are others that are counting on me to do something, and I'm afraid I might let them down."

"I once told your father. People will rely on you only to the extent that you rely on yourself. Try your hardest, and you won't let anyone down."

Cody nodded before he stood up. "I've got to go, grandpa. Thanks for the advice. Seeya." Cody quickly runs out of the room with his kendo gear.

His grandfather sighed now that he was the only person left in the room. He mummbled softly to himself. "No problem is too big for prune juice."

Back at the school. Upamon's ears stood up on end when he heard footsteps approaching the computer room.

"Oh, boy! I knew Cody would show up!" He cheered loudly.

Davis narrowed his eyes. "It's not Cody, okay! Now everybody hide!"

Everyone quickly grabbed their partner digimon in their circles.

"Geezus, where should we hide them!?" Simon asked a little panic in his voice.

Yolei was looking all over the classroom frantically. "I don't know! They are coming too quickly." She cried.

The door to the room open and someone stepped inside of the room. Everyone stopped running and peered at the high school student who was now staring at them all.

Both T.K. and Kari grinned at him. "It's Joe!"

Joe waved at them all. "Hi, guys!"

Simon sighed in relief.

Upamon sighed sadly when Joe walked into the room. He was truly hoping that Cody would come through the door.

Elecmon patted Upamon softly on top of his head. As he smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry Upamon. I bet Cody will be here any minute."

"If you say so..." Upamon said sadly.

Joe stepped forward and approached the new digidestined. "Wow, even though Tai told me about it, it's still weird seeing the digimon here in the real world. And I can't believe it, Leomon you're really back?"

Elecmon nodded as he gave the older boy a smile. "Nice to see you again Joe."

"Like wise."

TK gestured towards the blue haired boy. As he peered over to Yolei, Davis, and Simon. "This is Joe, our old friend we told you about!"

"The doctor? That's really cool!" Davis praised

Yolei gestured towards herself. "Would you mind taking a look at my tonsils for me?"

"Is it true that Skylar slapped you on a regular bias in the digital world." Simon asked curiously. As he peered over the boy that his tutor mentioned.

Joe deadpan a little at the mention of all the times he was hit upside the head by Skylar.

Kari chuckled a little before she introduced him to her new friends. "Joe, this is Davis, Simon and  Yolei. Joe's not really a doctor yet."

Jeremy had already met Joe before, Skylar introduced him. Skylar always seem to go out of her way to pick on him. Which pretty much included her calling him Mr. party pooper, slapping him in the back of the head or poking him.

"We're glad your here! We got a distress call from the digital world." T.k. said with a smile.

Joe nodded gently as he held up his digivice. "I know, it's from Gomamon."

"So your digivice was triggered too? That's why you came!"

Joe sets his school bag aside. Which causes the little Demiveemon to be a little curious. The little dragon digimon pokes his head into Joe's bag. To find a little bag with some medicine inside of it. "Ooo Candy!"

Elecmon rolls his eyes and grabbed DemiVeemon and sets him aside on the floor. As he wiggled a little claw in front of him. "Be careful. Things like that may look like candy but it's very poisonous."

"Oh"

Elecmon was very different from his champion level form. Jeremy thought to himself. Sometimes he realized his digimon, could have different personalities in their different stages of power. When he is Elecmon, he still has a protective nature, but he kinda is more laid back and can be somewhat moody.

"These are supplies for an emergency!" Joe patted his backpack to explain.

Kari raised a brow. "Do you plan on coming to the digital world with us, Joe? We could really use your help!

Joe gave a gentle nod. "Absolutely. I'm worried about Gomamon."

Jeremy grinned as he looks over at him.  "Don't worry we will be able to help you out."

TK holds out his green digivice for Joe to see. "These are the digivices of the new digidestined! They're the only things that can open up the gate to the digital world."

Joe hummed softly as he gazes over these new devices. "Yeah, Izzy gave me a heads up about them. And he also told me about this jerk who calls himself the digimon emperor."

Yolei snapped her fingers as she made her way to the computer. Her digivice already at the ready. "Alright, let's open up the gate!"

Davis smiled as he pulled out his own digivice. "Right! I've been waiting for this."

"What about me?" A voice said from the doorway. All of their attention made it over to Cody who was walking through. He appeared to be a little bit out of breath from running all the way there.

Upamon hopped off the chair he was sitting on. Excited to see the young boy. "Cody! You made it! You made it! You made it! You made it! You made it! You made it! You made it! You made it! You made it! You made it! You made it! You made it! You made it!"

Cody chuckled a little uneasily as he peered over at the older boy. "You'll have to forgive him. He's hyperactive."

Joe rubbed the back of his head. "Don't worry. In a way Gomamon was a little like that too." He chuckled

"Hey, everybody, the gate's open!" Davis called out to get everyone's attention

Yolei grinned. "Alright, let's GO!!!"

"Time to kick some digimon emperor butt." Simon added

The group held out their digivices. As the gate opened. Pulling them and their digimon inside.

When they arrived in the digital world. The group found themselves in a frozen tundra biome.

Davis was rubbing his arms as he tried to stay warm. His entire body shaking from the blistering cold winds." Great. I hate the cold. Kari, are you okay?"

"Yup."

"It's freezing." Jeremy's teeth chattered as he tried to look around.

Leomon stood by his side looking around as well. "If the readings from the computer are right. Gomamon should be around here somewhere."

"Hopefully this will be a quick mission. I don't want to become a Simon popsicle" the boy chuckled.

Cody peered over at Joe. "I'm sorry, but we weren't proberly introduced before we took our trip. My name is..."

"Hey, I'm freezing my goggles off here, and you're introducing yourself? Let's go!" Davis snapped as he peered back at the younger boy. It was still obvious that he was kind of holding a grudge against Cody. For not being there earlier.

Joe snapped his fingers. "Oh wait guys. I have just the thing." The boy opened up his bag and started to pull out some gloves. "Here, you can use one of these. They're hand warmers. Kari."

Kari took the gloves eagerly. "Thanks a lot."

"Leave it to you! Good, old reliable, Joe." T.K. grinned as he put his own gloves on as well.

The other kids soon took their own pair of warming gloves.

"Huh? That's funny. Skylar always called him Mr. Party pooper." Jeremy pointed out.

T.K. and Kari burst out laughing from this notion.

Davis raised an eyebrow as he looked over at Yolei. "Did I miss a joke?"

Yolei shrugged her shoulders. "I'm clueless as you."

Kari held her gloved hand up. :Oh you see, back when we were traveling through the digital world three years ago that was Joe's nickname."

TK chuckled as he added on. "Yeah didn't you know. Joe and Skylar are star cross lovers."

Joe's face admittedly turned dark pink. As he tried to wave the notions. "Skylar and I don't like each other!!!"

Patamon doubled over laughing. "denial"

Leomon chuckled along with Patamon.  "Skylar is one special kid. She cares for her friends all equally the same."

Davis kicked some snow around. "Not me..." he mummbled.

"You stole her bike the other day...." Jeremy said as he raised an eyebrow.

"She wouldn't let me ride it...so I thought I could borrow it..."

(Yesterday evening)

Skylar and Jeremy were inside the computer room with Elecmon.

Skylar was eagerly passing around the room. A huge smile across her face. "I can't wait until Mimi comes to town. Only three more days."

"I guess Mimi and you are best friend." Jeremy asked with a grin.

Skylar placed a hand on her chest.  "We're really close friends. She always invites to go on vacations with her, and I always do the same."

As the two of them were talking Elecmon was peering out of the classroom, to people watch. He coughed a little to get both of their attention.
"

Hey Skylar what color bike do you ride?" 

"It's a white bike, with gold trim. Why?" She asked curiously.

"Because Davis is starting to ride away with it..." elecmon pointed out a claw out the window.

Skylar's left eye started to twitch. "What!?" The red head girl raced towards the window. Practically steaming as she looked out, to see Davis riding away on her bike. "He's dead!"

She raced out of the room.

(Present)

Some chuckles were still going around. As T.K. teased Joe a little bit more. Before Simon made his way over and patted the older boy on his shoulder.

"Don't worry amigo. I believe you." Simon tried to reassure him.

Joe peered up at him. "You do?" He asked.

"Nah, man you should see how pink your cheeks get! You flush like a new born. Whenever we talk about her."

Joe groaned as he thought someone actually believed him for once.

Yolei caught everyone's attention. As she was struggling to put on her gloves. "Ugh! These gloves won't fit" She murmured. Before she dropped one of them and it landed on top of Gomamon who appeared to be knocked unconscious.

Yolei gasped in surprise. "Joe, look!"

"Woah, gomamon!" The older boy raced forward and picked up the unconscious seal Digimon. A line of worry across his face. "Gomamon, speak to me!"

"I hope he is okay." Simon said worridly as he stood by his side.

Gomamon slowly opened his eyes as he finally heard his partner's voice. "Joe?"

"What day of the week is it?" Joe asked worridly

"It's saturday." Gomamon answered a little woozy.

Joe deadpan a little. "Actually, it's thursday. But you never did know the day, so you're back to your old self."

Gomamon finally shook off the woozniness and exclaimed. "I heard from Tentomon that we could use that TV to contact you if we were in trouble."

Joe reaches into his bag for some supplies. "Boy, it looks like you're going to wipe out my entire first aid kit." He tries to tease his partner.

Leomon raised an eyebrow "Toilet paper?" He asked with a slight chuckle. Remembering the toilet paper he used to patch up Orgemon's wounds in the past.

Joe laughed a little. "Oh Not this time."

Armadillomon wiped some tears away from his eyes. "I always get misty at happy reunions. I actually think I"m gonna cry."

"Don't, your tears will turn to icicles." Gatomon pointed out.

Joe worridly looked over Gomamon's cuts and bruises. "You really look terrible Gomamon. But I mean that in a nice way."

Gomamon sighed sadly. "I picked a fight with the wrong guy. The Digimon Emperor."

Hyokomon held out his sword as he looked around for the control spire. "Where might he be?" He asked curiously.

"He's probably won't be anywhere near here by now..." he mummbled. "He captured my friends Gizamon."

Jeremy narrowed his eyes. "That guy always gets me in an angry mood."

"He's built another Control Spire here, too!" Davis pointed out.

Joe raised a brow. "What's that?"

"The Digimon Emperor's secret weapon!" Kari pointed out.

"He hunts down digimon, then puts these dark rings on them, making them him slaves. And the control spires supply power to those rings!" T.K. added on

Leomon frowned. "He also seems to be after the armor that these digidestined possess for his evil purposes. So he could force digimon to fight back against us."

Kari nodded softly. "Those spirals also make digimon unable to digivolve."

Davis balls his fists. "Dude, I'm gonna rip it down!"

Kari looks over at the sheet of ice before them. "But we're going to have to cross that ice if we hope to get close enough to destroy it!"

TK rubs the back of his neck. "Now I know what Matt means when he says I'm walking on thin ice."

Jeremy deadpan a little. "I'm not really sure if he meant exactly that. But we just have to be careful not to break through it."

Yolei peers over at Joe. "Did you bring any skates? We need ten pairs."

Joe shook his head. "Sorry, I'm all out."

Davis rubbed his chin as an idea formed his head. "Hey Joe, do you have any rope?"

Joe reached into his bag and found some rope. "You never know what kind of situation you will end up in. In the digital world. I try to stay prepared as much as I can."

Davis pointed off to the tree with a smile. Veemon, Hawkmon and Armadillomon stepped forward with a nod.

"Claw Chop."

"Beak buzz saw!"

"Vee head butt!"

*The three digimon working together caused the tree to fall over with a thud.*

"Phew. Well, that's done." Davis sighed in relief.

*Leomon and Hyokomon stepped forward brandishing their swords.*

"Cleaving cut!" Hyokomon called out as he dashed forward. His sword cutting deep through the bark.

"Beast sword" leomon finished up and fashioned the fallen tree into a sled.

Yolei marveled at their work. "What a great looking sled!"

Jeremy chuckled as he shrugged. "If we only had some paint, we could totally give it a sweet paint job."

Yolei grinned at him. "Who knows, we could even start a fellow competition in the future and do sled competitions with the fellow digidestined." She chimed in.

Davis gestured for the sled. "Now all we have to do is go for a ride!"

"That's easy for you to say. We're pulling!" Armadillomon mummbled.

The digimon were fashioned up with the ropes around their bodies. Davis was in front of the sled holding tightly on the ropes.

Hawkmon kicked some of the snow. "I'm no dog."

"Just quit complaining, it will be over in a few minutes." Leomon tried to reassure him.

"That's easy for you to say." Hawkmon fired back.

"Come on, you guys. We're counting on you!" Cody tried to encourage the digimon.

"You got this! " Simon cheered from the back.

"Okay!" Patamon called out.

Davis pulled on the ropes. Before he announced. "Now, mush!"

Jeremy deadpan a little.  "That's a little extreme..."

Davis shrugged as the sled started to move. "Hey I get to say whatever I want . I got hit by Skylar yesterday, which proves her love for me." The young boy blushed softly.

"Or her undying hatred for you..." Kari whispered.

Davis didn't seem to hear. As the group of digidestined were pulled by their partner digimon.

The digimon emperor was frowning as Wormmon made his way over to him in the snow.

"Oh, sir. Um? Master"

"What is it Wormmon. Can't you see I'm busy." The boy grumbled. As he was trying to work on some adjustments on his digivice.

"Sir, those kids happened to be here."

The digimon emperor's eyes shot down to the small bug digimon. "So they're here?"

Wormmon nodded softly. "Mmm-Hmm."

The boy gritted his teeth. "They sure know how to stick their noses in at the wrong time." He grumbled.

The group was still being pulled over the ice. The digidestined were marveling at the sheet of ice underneath them.

"Geez...I truly hope this ice will be able to support all of our weight." Joe groaned.

"I'm sure it will be fine. Just close your eyes and it will be over in no time." Gomamon patted the boy on his side.

Joe groaned and closed his eyes. "Oh boy...I don't know if I should believe you. Or start preparing for my death." He whined.

"Hey! You should be able to trust me by now." Gomamon protested.

Jeremy grins with the time that they were making.

"This is the quickest way to travel."

"You can say that again amigo" Simon agreed.

"Go, Veemon!" Davis called out.

Yolei placed a hand on her helmet. "What a way to travel! We should try this out more often." She chuckled.

Up ahead a group of Fridgemon walked out from a pile of snow. The four snow bear digimon seemed to get into the group's path.

"Uh-oh, we've got visitors!" Patamon pointed.

"Be careful. They might be enimes." Leomon called out for everyone to hear.

Yolei awed at the digimon before them.  "Snowmen. How cute!"

TK shook his head softly. "No, they're Frigimon, but what's that around their ankles?"

The group squinted their eyes to try to make out what was around the digimon's ankles. And all of them were taken back by the dark rings.

"Uh oh! Uh..."

The digimon emperor watched the scene from above the high. Making his presence known to the digidestined wannabes and their pathetic digimon. "Attack!"

The Fridimon dashed forward. Snow seeming to surrond the four of them.

"Freeze them, Frigimon, with your SubZero Ice Punch! It's amazing how these docile creatures can be turned into such abominable snowmen." He exclaimed.

"They definitely don't seem like frosty the snowmen, Yolei." Simon called out.

Yolei frowned. "I know that now!" She called back to him.

A blast of cold air soared over the kid's heads.

"That's cold!" Davis cried out as he shivered from the blast of air.

"Forget about the Frigimon! They're not very fast! We can outrun them!" Joe suggested.

Davis looked back at the older boy a little confused. "What?"

"Our mission is to destroy the control spire, right? So it's better to keep going then to waste our time fighting!"

Leomon nodded to agree with him. "Joe's right. It's better to destroy the control spiral. If we do that, then the Frigimon will be freed. "

"But they're attacking us!" Davis pointed out the obvious.

"Joe and Leomon are right! Just run right past them!" T.K. called out.

Yolei nodded. "Alright! Keep on running you guys."

The digimon all nodded. As they all took off in a full blown sprint. Making it past the Frdigimon. Before they made it anywhere close to them.

"Thank God, these Fridgimon aren't incredibly fast." Simon sighed in relief.

Davis held up a thumbs up. "We made it through!"

The digimon emperor growled as he saw the digidestined speed past his controlled digimon. Although smirked at the hill they were coming up on. "Aim for that hill!" He commanded.

The Frigimon nodded as they all threw their fist forward. Sending a blast of frozen energy at the hill. Creating an avalanche

Davis laughed. He couldn't believe where those digimon was aiming. "They missed us by a mile!" Davis cheered.

Jeremy paled as he looked up at the hill. Where the blast of cold energy hit. "I don't think that was their purpose Davis..." he mummbled.

All of the digidestined cried out as they saw the huge mounds of snow heading in their direction. "Woah!"

"It's an avalanche!" Davis cried out.

The digimon raced forward to a creavace and jumps over it. As the sled was soaring over the crevace. Cody goes airborn and falls down into the river. "Ahh!"

Jeremy peered back to where Cody had fallen. A look of worry lining his face.

"Cody!"

"

I'll save him!" Gomamon cries out. Before he jumps into the river after him.

Once Gomamon saved Cody from the river. The group seek refuge inside of a cave. Cody was shivering by a fire that Joe was able to start.

"Are you warming up yet?" Armadillomon asked worridly. As he looked up at the young boy.

Joe stepped forward. He pulled out a small bottle of tea from his bag.
"

Drink this herbal tea. It's 10% herbal, 90% tea."

Cody smiled softly before he accepted the offering. "Thanks a lot,Joe."

Yolei placed both of her hands together. "Boy, Joe really comes prepared! Remind me to think of inviting him to my next family vacation. I always forget to pack everything I need." She chuckles.

Kari waves her words off with a playful smile. "That's nothing! Wait until you see him during hayfever season!"

"I guess Joe can help solve any problem." Jeremy grinned. 

Leomon nods softly. "He was a smart individual in the past."

As the four of them joked on. T.K. finally spoke up. As he looked a little worried about Cody's condition. "We should leave Cody here."

Davis' eyes grew wide at the suggestion.  "What?"

Joe nodded in agreement with T.K. "Right! I'll stay back here and take care of Cody."

TK smiled at his friend. "Thanks Joe."

Cody stood up. A line of dread across his face. "I'm going too! grandfather told me that if I rely on myself and try my hardest, I won't let any of you down!"

Kari placed a hand on her chest. "You're not letting us down."

Simon nodded. "Yeah man. We were worried to death when we saw you take that plunge. We just want you to stay here, and worry about your health first bro." He added on.

Hyokomon held his sword up. "We won't think any less of you, young one."

Leomon nodded softly. "Sometimes the best thing you can do is rest, before you take part of a battle."

Joe reached into his bag and pulled out a blue towel to cover Cody in. "Yeah Leomon is right, you'll need to reserve your strength!"

Armadillomon patted Cody on his back. "That's right, Cody. We've got a long fight ahead of us, and we're gonna need ya!"

Cody stared down at his feet. He didn't feel right to leave all of his friends with all the fighting for themselves. "I guess you're right... I'll wait here. Don't be gone long!"

"We'll be back, quicker than you can say 'Digimon Emperor'!" Davis called out to him. Before him and the others leave the cave.

Joe peers over at the young boy. With a worried look. "Are you okay?"

Cody sighs softly. "A little tired to tell you the truth."

"Me too. I could really use a nap. I propose we take this opportunity to get some shut eye." Armadillomon yawns softly before he lays down on the ground and closes his eyes.

Cody bit his lips. His worry from earlier ebbing. He wanted to help. He wanted to be there for his friends. "I couldn't sleep! I feel I should be out there helping the others!"

Joe gave a soft smile. "I know exactly how you feel. I used to feel the same way, but I thought it was nausea." He softly chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head uneasily. "And then I slowly began to realize something. All of us are here for a reason. There's a big picture we can't see yet, and I don't mean a wide-screen tv. So, us staying behind...is for a reason."

Cody gasped softly. "But what?"

The cave shook softly.

"What was that?" Armadillomon asked worridly. As he stood up from the floor.

"Come on, let's go!" Joe spoke up. With the small group following after him.

The digimon emperoer was out there waiting for the four of them. An aquatic Digimon standing beside him. Which looked far too familiar for Joe.

"Meet my newest slave: Shellmon. His aqua blasters attack shoots water so hard it can demolish solid rock!" The Digimon gestured to the large digimon.

Joe grimaced at the champion digimon. "We've already met unfortunately."

'It seems that I have discovered your secret little hide-out." The digimon emperor chuckled.

Joe narrowed his eyes. Before he looked back at his partner digimon. "Gomamon! Now I know the reason we were supposed to stay behind! So the others would have time to destroy the spire. I need you to create a diversion with some of that great Gomamon charm of yours!"

Gomamon grinned. "Right!" Gomamon raced forward. Before he was a safe distance away from the champion digimon. "Why did one Shellmon take the other Shellmon's lunch? Because it was shellfish!" Gomamon laughed a little . Before Shellmon shot a blast of water at him. Causing the seal Digimon to roll out of danger. "I guess you heard that one before."

"Ahh!" Cody cried out in worry.

Joe deadpand as he thought. That's the great Gomamon charm? He's probably running out of good material.

At the spire. The group of digidestined and their partner digimon. We're getting ready to bring the tower down once and for all.

Davis held out his digivice. "Time to get down to business! Veemon, let's do it! Digiarmor Energize!"

Veemon was surronded in a dark orange light. "Veemon, Armor digivolve to..."

"Flamedramon! The Fire of Courage!"

"Fire Rocket!" Flamedramon blasts at the spiral. Causing it to crumble from the attack.

"Another one bites the dust!" Simon cheered.

The digimon emperor was growling as Shellmon was launching blast of water at Gomamon. Who would roll out of the way of the attacks. What was that blue haired kid's problem. And his digimon for that matter. They seemed different from the others he has seen before.

"You have no sense of humour!" Gomamon whined up at the champion digimon.

Joe cupped his hands over his lips. "Try the knock-knock jokes!"

Cody looks over at Armadillomon. Holding up his digivice. "Are you ready?"

Armadillomon gave a quick nod. "You bet!"

"Digiarmor Energize!"

"Armadillomon, Armour digivolve to..."

Armadillomon was surronded in dark red light.

"Pteteranomon! The steal wings of love"

Joe peered up at the flying digimon before them. "Armour, huh? Not bad!"

Pteteranomon reared his head back. "Light Ray!" He shot a blast of energy out of his mouth. Causing Shellmon to get distracted from chasing Gomamon.

"Thanks, Pteteranomon!"

"You're welcome!" He called back. Before he was struck in the chest by the water.

"Hey, leave him alone!" Cody cried out as he rushed forward.

"Cody!" Joe shouted worridly. As Shellmon's attention turned to the young boy.

Cody stopped in his tracks as he noticed the water that started to form on top of Shellmon's head.

"Aqua blasters!"

Pteranomon flew down in a blinding speed as he covered Cody from the blast of water. The armor digimon crying out in pain.

"Ahh! Pteranomon!"

The armor digimon slowly opened his eyes. Before he spoked. "Don't worry Cody, I'll protect you!"

"The Fire of Courage!" Flamdedramon cried out as he threw a blast of fire at Frigimon's right foot. Burning away the ring that controlled him.

"Strike three!" Davis cheered.

"Flamedramon, can handle the Frigimon by himself. So it's up to us to destroy the control spire!" T.k. called out to his friends.

Leomon nodded. Before he reared his fist back. "Fist of the beast king!"

The attack struck true. But it didn't seem to do that much to the tower.

Kari hummed softly. "Don't worry Leomon. I think we're going to have to do it from the air!"

Kari looks over at Yolei.

Yolei nodded softly. "Got it!"

Simon grinned as he held up his digivice. "You can count on me too."

Cody was now riding on the back of Pteranomon. His arms wrapped tightly around his neck.

"Hold on tight, Cody! Raining bombs!" Pteranomon launches a few bombs from his wings. Which struck Shellmon. Causing the champion digimon to cry out in pain. The dark ring that was around his right arm breaking from one of the many bombs.

Gomamon and Joe cheered when they noticed Shellmon being freed. "Alright!"

As the two celebrated. They were taken back as an Ebidramon ruin their celebration.

The digimon emperor smirks. "No problem. I never run out of ideas or slaves. Ebidramon uses his Twin Scissors attack to crush the enemy like a snail. Ebidramon, destroy them all!"

Pternanomon noses dives to try to hit Ebidramon head on. Shrugging off Cody so he wouldn't get anywhere close to this digimon.

Although right before he could strike. The aquatic Digimon grabbed Pteranomon and pulled him under water.

"Pteranomon!" Cody shouted out worridly.

Joe bit his lip. As he turned to Gomamon. "If there was some way you were able to digivolve. What's taking them so long with the spire?"

Joe looked off into the distance at the tower. Wishing he could watch it get knocked over at this very instant.

"Star Shower!"

"Fly spark!" Flybeemon cried out as he launched a blast of electricity at the tower.

"Caliber Screech!" Caladrimon cried as a blast of holy energy fired from his beak.

The three attacks knocked down the spiral.

Joe felt relief flood his body. As if on que, his friends finally knocked down the tower. The older boy pulled out his digivice. Not wanting to hold back from the fight any longer.

" They did it! They destroyed the spire, now you can digivolve!" He called out to Gomamon.

"WHAT?" The Digimon Emperor roared in annoyance.

Wormmon looked up at the boy with a look of puzzlement. Surprised that he didn't hear him. "He said 'They destroyed the spire, now you can digivolve.'" He informed him.

Digimon Emperor gritted his teeth as he threw his hands up in the air. "It's just a figure of speech!"

Joe's digivice gave off a light green glow. As Gomamon was surronded in the same glow.

"Gomamon, digivolve to...Ikkakumon!"

Ikkakumon jumps into the water and swims after Ebidramon. Knocking the lobster digimon in the head with his horn. Making the lobster let go of Pteranomon.

Now that Pteranomon was freed. He flew out of the water and hovered in the air.

Ikkakumon broke through the surface of the water. With Ebidramon trailing after him. His claw outstretched to attack him.

"Now, it's my turn! Light ray!"

The blast of energy struck Ebidramon. Causing the lobster digimon to be pushed back into the water.

"You got him!" Cody cheered.

Joe gave a curt nod. "Finish him, Ikkakumon!"

"Harpoon Torpedo!" The Torpedo launches from Ikkakumon horn, and struck Ebidramon where his dark ring was. Causing the digimon to be freed from the emperor's control.

Now that the danger was over with. The group of digidestined all stood in front of Gomamon. Who was in the center of Gizamon. Who he called them all his friends.

Joe was smiling down at his partner digimon. "Alright, Gomamon, you're in charge here!"

"Great, a frozen wasteland, just what I always wanted." Gomamon playfully teases.

"At least you'll have plenty of time to work on your jokes!" Joe chuckled.

Gomamon deadpan. "Very funny."

T.k. looks around at his friends with a soft smile. "I guess we'd better head back home."

Cody held up his hand to stop his friends. "Before we go, there's just one thing I have to finish." He announced.

Joe seemed a little puzzled as Cody made his way forward to him. "Oh really? What's that?" He asked.

"Our introduction. Hello, my name is Cody."

Cody holds out his hand for Joe to shake. Joe shakes his hand with a warm smile. 

Davis tilted his head. "I don't get it Cody, what's the big deal."

Cody held up his index finger to explain.  "My Grandfather says that next to prune juice, manners are the most important thing a man can have."

Davis laughs at this news.

Kari placed a hand to her chin. "You know, Cody reminds me a lot of Joe. Always honest, and sticks to the rules!"

TK shrugged his shoulders. "I think he reminds me of Sora. He is always worried about everyone's wellbeing."

Joe scratched his chin a little bit. Part Sora and part me? That's a scary combination!" He chuckled.

Skylar was sitting in the kitchen as she was cleaning up the remense of the lunch that her mother Served to her book club. Suddenly she looked up as a tingle rushes through her.

"My Skylar slapping senses are tingling.... "

The digimon emperor growled as he threw a table down. Feeling incredibly frusted from his recent loss.

"Blast! They've destroyed another control spire! And that was a freshly conquered area, too. Alright then, I'll just have to go to plan B. Wormmon, what is plan B? Well?"

He turned his head over to the rookie digimon. Trying to remember their next plan.

Wormmon poked two his pink appendages together. "Um...We could all become friends?" He suggested quietly.

The digimon emperor's right eye twitched. "That's not plan B, you fool!" He screeched.

"Don't blame me, I can't spell!"

The digidestined finally arrived back in the computer. Davis was smiling brightly as he rested his hands behind his neck. "I bet he's home crying, 'mommy, those mean kids destroyed another one of my spires. wahhh....'"

Jeremy shook his head. Noticing how over confident Davis could get. "Don't go thinking we won yet Davis. "

Elecmon nodded softly. "Yeah we still have a long way to go."

Davis crossed his arms over his chest. "Why are you two always against my views... "

Kari frowned. "Davis they're right. The fight's not over yet!"

Cody looks over af Joe. "Joe, will you come and fight with us again?"

Joe gave the younger boy a thumbs up.  "Sure. Who knows, maybe I'll even find my own digiegg someday. But, I have to watch my cholesterol!"

Cody smiled up at him."I was wondering if you'd like to come over to my house sometime. I think you'd like my grandfather, and I just know he'd like you." He suggested.

"Sure, I love prune juice." Joe chuckled.

Kari placed a hand to her chest. "Would it be alright if I came over too? I'd just love to meet your grandfather!"

"If Kari's going, I'm going!" Davis shouted.

Simon rolled his eyes. "I would love to tag along too. Although I would to see if he could teach me Kendo!"

Kari peers over at Davis. With a frown "Do you always have to do everything I do?"

Davis shrugs his shoulders. "But you and I are partners! Or if that doesn't work out, Skylar is close second"

Kari shook her head. "Sorry Davis, but you already HAVE a partner."

Davis blinked as he turned his attention to DemiVeemon. "Uh, you mean him?"

DemiVeemon nodded. " Yeah! You got a problem with that?"

Davis whined as he shook his head. "It's just not the same."

Everyone laughs at Davis' reaction. In the midst of the laughter. Skylar comes into the room. Causing everyone to stop doing what they were doing.

"Which one of you made my Skylar senses tingle?" She asked aloud.

She looks around the room. When her eyes finally landed on Joe. Her eyes narrowed as she stepped up to him and smacked him gently on the back of his head.  

She then dust of her hands and walked out. "My work here is done."

Joe deadpans. "What did I even do this time?" He groans.
