"Good morning children." A sickly sweet voice sounded from the back of the classroom. Harry turned around to see the toad like professor, dressed in a tight pink suit that showed off her lumpy figure.

"Now, now, that won't do. When I say 'Good Morning', I expect a reply. So let's try again." Umbridge said as if speaking to grade school children. "Good morning class."

"Good morning Professor." The class spoke in a lazy monotone, but nonetheless, it seemed to please her.

"Excelent! Now we mu...." she began saying before being rudely interrupted by a student comming in late to her class.

Harry turned around to see Kakashi walk into the room, fully dressed in his Hogwarts uniform and with a black backpack slung over his shoulder. He could see the Shinobi wearing fingerless gloves to hide the tattoos on his wrists and he was wearing his mask that covered the lower half of his face. He also wore his standard headband that covered his Sharingan eye, however, the leaf symbol had been removed.

"Mr. Hatake, I do not appreciate your tardiness. And to ensure that it will not happen again, you are to join me for detention this afternoon." Umbridge said, glaring daggers at him. "Furthermore, your dress is not complacent with the traditional Hogwarts uniform, I must insist that you loose the face mask and eye cover." She said strictly. "Your gloves however are acceptable, Professor Snape told me that you have a medical conditions called Reynodes phenomenon. But I must make it clear to everyone else that hats and gloves are not acceptable indoors." She finished.

Kakashi sighed, he knew that this would most likely happen in her class. He had been hoping she wouldn't say anything on the matter, but now he saw that he had been pushing his luck. He lowered the mask so that it hung loosely around his neck, and he completely removed the headband, causing stray hairs to fall over his eyes. However, he kept his eye closed, not wanting to risk her seeing the eye. Most students had an idea of what his eye looked like, however it just appeared red to them. No one has really seen the true nature of his eye like Potter and the other two, as well as the twins.

"Thank you, now if you would find an empty seat and prepare for the lesson." She ordered before continuing with her beginning speach.

Kakashi sat beside Harry, who to no surprise had no one sitting by him. He noticed that Hermione and Ron were sharring a desk beside Potter's, but no one else had decided to sit beside the chosen one. As the lesson continued he noticed Harry giving him concerned glances, looking over towards him every few minutes.

"What?" Kakashi asked in a sharp hushed whisper.

"Are you sure that you should be attending classes today? Snape gave you a note that excuses you for the next week." Harry said, concern laced in his tone. Kakashi sent him a glare that would have Voldemort backpedaling into the Forbidden Forrest, succeeding in shutting Harry up. But not before he noticed Professor Umbridge standing in front of him, her eyes practically shooting lasers at him.

"Mr. Potter, you are not to interupt me when I am teaching. If you wish to ask a question or say a remark, then you shall kindly raise your hand." She lightly scolded. At her words, Hermione's hand shot up, gaining Umbridge's attention.

"There is nothing in this book about using defensive spells." Hermione said confused.

"Using spells! I cannot imagine why you would need to use spells in my class!" She practically squeaked.

"We're not going to be using magic?" Ron asked without being called on, causing a scowl to grace her features. But she took a long deep breath, and continued.

"You will be learning about magic in a secure, risk free way." Umbridge said calmly, only succeeding in getting confused expressions from her students. "It is the view of the ministry, that a theoretical knowledge will be enough to get you through your examinations. which after all, is what school is all about."

"But how is that to prepare us for what's out there!?" Harry said, interrupting her.

"There is nothing out there. Who do you imagine that would attack children?" She asked exasperated.

"Oh, I don't know? Maybe.... Lord Voldemort!" Harry all but shouted, his patients now gone.

At the mention of said Dark Wizard, the room became chilly and was erily silent. No one spoke, and no one dared to look up. Both Kakashi and Harry were getting fed up with the fear that the name invited. Professor Umbridge froze at the mention of the name, trying to collect herself before she next spoke, her voice calm, yet firm.

"Now let me make this quite plain. You have been told that a certain Dark Wizard is at large, once again. This is a lie!" She said in a harsh whisper, directing her anger towards Harry.

"IT'S NOT A LIE! I SAW HIM... I FOUGHT HIM!" Harry yelled angrily, tempted to stand up to make his point before Umbridge screeched at him.

"ENOUGH!" She said viciously, her face now beet red. "See me later Mr. Potter, you shall join Mr. Hatake in detention with me this afternoon and for the remainder of the week. Now, if you would kindly and respectfully deliver this note to Professor McGonagall." She ordered, handing him a small note.

Harry angrily stood up and retrieved the note while grabbing his bag to march out the door. He was glad that she had sent him off on a errand, not being able to stand another minute in her presence. He walked out of the classroom and began walking down the corridors before he heard his name be called by a weak yet deep voice.

"Potter!" Kakashi called as he caught up to the enraged teen. Harry turned around confused, wondering why Kakashi was following him.

"You'll only get in more trouble for running out of her classroom during lecture without being dismissed." Harry said emotionlessly, continuing to walk sulkingly down the corridor.

"I know, that's the point. Since you went and got detention with her for the next week, I now have to do the same. And as much as I enjoy being late to her class, I doubt that I will be getting detention as a punishment if I continue it. So I decided to leave in the middle of lecture to ensure that I get a week's detention." Kakashi explained, his words slurring slightly and Harry could see how much of an effort he was making to speak normally and without insuing to much pain.

"Why? It's just detention. You don't have to follow me every second of the day!" Harry said heavily, being annoyed by the lack of privacy. Not that he minded Kakashi's presence, it's just that he didn't need to be reminded that he was being babysat by the Shinobi.

"If it was any other professor I would just let you suffer alone. But you know as well as I do that she is not to be trusted." Kakashi said, following Harry to McGonagalls classroom, which was a good 15 minute walk away.

Harry wouldn't admit it out loud, but Kakashi was right. Umbridge was a threat. But to what, he couldn't say. There was something about her that was sinister and offputting.

Both Harry and Kakashi made their way to Professor Unbridges classroom after supper. The walk from the cultural hall to the Defense Against the Dark Arts class wasn't too far, but it was long enough for them to have a semi decent conversation. Something that was a first time experience since the new school year started.

"So what kind of weather does your country have?" Harry asked, not wanting their walk to be just awkward silence.

"uh... It's-" Kakashi tried saying. Not that it was difficult to say, just that he was caught off guard by Harry's question. "it has a lot of mountains so it's relatively cool..." he got out, the question left hanging on his tongue.

Harry nodded, "so it has a lot of agriculture?" Harry continued to ask.

"yes."

"so who takes care of them? Don't all of your people become Shinobi? Are there jutsu's for making crops grow?" Harry asked further. Kakashi almost laughed, it would look like that to an outsider wouldn't it? He wasn't offended by Potter's honest curious question. In fact, it was a subject in which he was comfortable conversing in. Plain, and innocent.

"Not everyone has the potential to become a Shinobi. Much like wizards compared to Muggles. So those who cannot or do not want to can pursue other professions. Much like the culture here. Guy's family are actually metal workers, or blacksmiths. But his father tried his hand at a career in the Shinobi life, and Guy followed." Kakashi answered.

"what would you persue if you were not a Shinobi?" Harry then asked suddenly.

"what would you be if you were not a wizard?" Kakashi redirected, but not unkindly. Harry took no time in answering, having though about this all to much. He had grown up in the Muggle world, and the fact he was even a wizard was still a suprise to him.

"I think I would be a policeman, or at least now I would. Before I think I wanted to be a cheif." Harry said. Kakashi looked thoughtful for a moment before answering.

"I think I would like to work as a merchant. I do like traveling." He answered with a small smile, which Harry gladly returned.

Soon enough the two of them made it to the Toads office. Kakashi took the lead and knocked on the door. If Harry didn't know better he would have teased that Kakashi was looking for booby traps.

"Come in." a sickly sweet voice announced from the other side of the door. He pushed the door open and then wished that he hadn't. The room was bright pink and covered in kitten pictures. A sweet aroma filled the room stuffing the two teens noses. Professor Umbridge's desk was at the head of the room and two classroom desks had been pulled into it.

"do please sit down." she directed. "would either of you two like a cup of tea?" she asked. Kakashi elbowed Harry lightly, as if saying to refuse the offer. Not that he would have taken it anyway.

"No thank you Professor." Kakashi refused politely. Umbridge smiled and Harry answered similarly.

"Very good. Then we shall begin. Mr. Potter and Mr. Hatake, you two will be doing lines for me today. Potter, you shall write for me, 'I must not tell lies', and Hatake, you shall write 'I will obey the rules', she said as she pulled out paper and two pink quills, handing said items to the teens.

Harry followed Kakashi's lead and sat down in the desk. Kakashi choosing the seat closest to the professor. Preferring to keep the distance between her and his charge. Harry almost rolled his eyes.

"How many times?" Harry asked.

"As long as it takes for the message to sink in." Umbridge said with a sadistic smile.

Both teens leaned over their desks to begin before Kakashi spoke quietly to Harry.

"Something is wrong with this quill." he told Harry. Harry looked down at his quill before realizing what was wrong.

"Professor, you haven't given us any ink." He pointed out.

"Oh, you won't need any ink." she said. At her reply, Harry was confused. It was not normal for quills to be used without ink. Unless it worked much like a Muggle pen.

Both teens began writing their assigned phrases when He felt a pricking in his hand. He looked down to see his handwriting carving itself into his skin. He turned to Kakashi and saw his hand also in the same state. Although his handwriting was much neater than his own. Kakashi looked down at his appendage to see the magic carving his phrase into his hand as well. He looked higher to catch Harry's eye, the boy was also suffering from the same strange magic.

"Yes?" Umbridges voice came as she noticed both boys had stopped writing.

"Nothing." Harry said, his voice tight with anger and confusion.

"That's right, because you know deep down... You deserve to be punished."

Both Harry and Kakashi looked at her with stern expressions.

'this is not good.' Kakashi thought as he glared at her, but her grin only spread across her face. He sighed and went back to writing. There was no way out of this, and the sooner he left the better. Otherwise he would be unable to restrain himself.

After an hour and a half of writing and their hands burning and bleeding, they were each dismissed.

"Is that normal?" Kakashi decided to ask before he jumped to conclusions.

"N-no, it's not." Harry said with a pained expression, cradling his injured hand to his chest.

"let me see that." he directed. Harry complied and Kakashi placed his hands over it while a soft green light glowed beneath his fingertips. Once he pulled away his hand, what was left of the injury was just old scabs. The pain a dull ache.

"Thanks." he said lamely, admiring the partly healed appendage. Kakashi nodded, but kept up his path towards the Common Room.

Harry noted that Kakashi was quieter- well, not really- but he seemed quiet after what had just happened. But he didn't want to push him. Although he was still angry at the teen, he was glad they were on more civil terms. However he doubted it would last long, good relationships was something he never counted on to last long. Harry understood that it was not likely for Kakashi to either put up with another year or be assigned to Hogwarts again, so he needed to get used to that idea. And while he'd rather not, it seemed better not only for him, but everyone else. Although he doubted Hermione would say the same, but he could deal with that later. Right now, he needed to figure things out with Umbridge. Did she really think the proof of Voldemort being back would just stay quiet like Fudge wanted it too? Well, if he was sure about one thing, was that he was not about to let the Ministry endanger the country on Fudges inability to face the truth. He was tired of letting everyone bully him into submission, even Dumbledore.

LinebreakLinebreakLinebreakLinebreake...

Once Kakashi had escorted Harry to the Common Room he had decided that sleep was not going to happen tonight. Not if he wanted to risk a scene. Ever since Grimmauld Place, he had been haunted by visions of Obito and Rin, as well as Minato and Naruto. And while he had managed to cope with it for the past few weeks, Umbridge just had to pull this little trick.

I will obey the rules

Seriously, the woman was cruel and sadistic. And he was not looking forward to having detention with her again. While it was possible to heal the scar completely to where it was not noticeable to the naked eye (sorry, Sharingan still works. Damn.) He was not that skilled a healer. That was Rin, and if not her then Lady Tsunade. But he did not have the luxury of having a grade A healer on hand. Hopefully there was some kind of spell or potion that could rid of the evidence of the scar on his hand, but he was never that lucky. And it was never that simple. Damn again.

Anyway, at least he had been able to get Harry to trust him again. Even if just a little bit. He still hated the teens guts and personality as a whole, but now his job could be easier. He could handle putting on a fasce and handing out good gracing lies for another year, if it meant he could get a lid on the situation. He needed to show Sandaime that he could handle the mission and troubles in his personal life, then maybe he could be allowed some freedom. He hated being stuck to the restrictions of the Castle. And if he had to kiss up to Potter and the others to achieve it, then so be it.

Bet you thought I had made Kakashi a softie. Haha!

Well he is, but he doesn't know that yet...

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the updated chapter. Sorry it took half a century, but I got it done. I will update again when I am ready, but do not lose hope.
