Riddle Mansion

Voldemort sat back in the plush armchair, waiting for Wormtail to return. He had recently received news from one of his followers that Dumbledore had hired a guard to protect Harry Potter for the duration of the school year. Foolish! He thought to himself. Nothing was going to stop him from returning to full power whilst killing the boy. However, he was not called the Dark Lord for nothing. Even though he was confident in his servants work, he would not take any risks. He needed to find out more concerning the guard that Dumbledore has trusted to take care of the boy.

"Wormtail!" He shouted angrily. He heard the scurrying of the rat man before he even entered the room. As usual Petigrew was pale and scarred, flinching at any sound or movement that he made.

"Y-yes my Lord?" He stuttered, bowing lowly to Lord Voldemort.

"Tell Claude and Warnder to go to Hogwarts School and gather any information concerning Harry Potter's guard! If it turns out that they are nothing special, kill them!" He said maliciously.

Peter bowed even lower to the floor, slowly stepping out. Voldemort smiled to himself, lets see what you've got under your sleeve Albus?

Harry shot out of bed, his scar burning, clouding his vision. He had had a dream, however; he couldn't remember it. Although, considering the pain of his scar it wasn't hard for him to guess what the dream had consisted of... Voldemort. He hadn't had one since the Quidditch World Cup, but ever since he had become a Triwizard champion, the dreams reacurred more often, and much more vivid. Voldemort, whatever he was planning, would be happening soon. He had to tell someone about it... He usually told Ron right after he woke up, however they weren't on speaking terms at the moment. And Hermione had chosen to stay out of the fight, picking neither side. He thought about telling Kakashi, but he had a lot on his plate at the moment. Harry new that the boy never got a full nights sleep since he arrived at Hogwarts, always on guard during the night to ensure his safety. Also, Kakashi was a Triwizards champion like himself. So no, he wouldn't bother Kakashi or Minato Sensei about his dreams, they had enough to worry about as it is.

Maybe Dumbledore? Harry got out of bed and got dressed into his robes, (even though it was a Saturday) and made his way to the large circular office on the northside of the castle. If anyone was going to know what to do concerning his dreams, it would be Dumbledore. It was still early morning, and considering it was the weekend, no one was out wondering the castle. Although, he hadn't seen Kakashi in the Common Room. But that was typical, so he wouldn't worry about it.

Once he reached the gargoyle, he realized he didn't know the password. Last year it had been Honey Gumdrops, but that wouldn't help him.

"The password is Likorish Wands." Kakashi said behind Harry, which caused the latter to jump.

"Oh my - Kakashi! Don't do that!" Harry sputtered out, trying to regain his breath. Kakashi looked at him and smiled with self satisfaction that he had succeeded in scaring him.

"What are you doing here anyway? Are you following me?" Harry asked a little upset. Sure he knew that it was Kakashi's job to watch him... but so closely? Kakashi shrugged his shoulders indifferently.

"No, I'm not following you. I needed to report to Dumbledore-Sama before the Ministry folk get here for the Tournament. Besides, he had something that he needed to tell me." Kakashi answered, to the relief of Harry.

"Oh, well good." Harry said.

An awkward silence passed as the two waited for the gargoyle to open up. Harry looked towards Kakashi, noticing the prominent dark circles under his eyes (well, eye) and a couple of bruises that he hadn't seen before.

"How long have you been up?"Harry asked.

"All night, Minato Sensei mistook the twins products for simple candy. He has been sick for the past three days." Kakashi deadpanned. Three days? Harry thought to himself, that means that Kakashi has been awake for the past 72 hours!

"What, You can't be serious! Kakashi I know it's your job, but you need to take it easy. Listen, I'll stay inside the dormitory today so that you can sleep." Harry suggested earnestly.

"I appreciate the offer, however; I can't. There has been several attempts by some sketchy people to infultrait the castle. So Dumbledore has instructed that I guard the perimeter around the clock, since Minato Sensei is... indisposed. Not just for your safety, but for the entire schools safety." Kakashi answered. Harry could hear the exhaustion in Kakashi's voice. It was a good thing that he had decided not to tell Kakashi about his dream, he didn't need to add any more stress on him. While he was in with Professor Dumbledore, he would bring up the fact that Kakashi needs a small break, at least just one night. Harry couldn't wrap his mind around Kakashi having to attend class, keep up with homework, guard the castle 24/7 and who knows what else!

"Did you want me to wait for you to finish talking to Professor Dumbledore or is it alright if I go in with you?" Kakashi asked nicely, changing the subject.

"Uh, I was kind of wanting to talk to Dumbledore alone, if that's alright?" Harry said slowly, not wanting to offend Kakashi. "Don't worry, I won't take long." He quickly added as an afterthought. Kakashi nodded his head in understanding, walking back down the stairs so that Harry knew he wouldn't eavesdrop.

Harry knocked on the large door, waiting patiently for the old headmaster.

"Come in Kakashi." He heard Dumbledore say. Harry's gut twisted, he didn't know that Dumbledore had been expecting Kakashi, he now felt really rude. However, another voice interrupted his thoughts.

"That's not Kakashi, it's one of your students. Perhaps you should let him in, he seems worried." The voice said.

Before Harry had the chance to run away, the door opened reveiling Dumbledore and a second male who seemed as old as the Hogwarts Headmaster. He had the same kind face, however; he was strangely dressed in Harry's opinion.

"Ah Harry, come in." Dumbledore said kindly, his eyes twinkling. "Funny, we were just talking about you"

"If you really needed to talk to Kakashi, he's outside in the hallway, I could come back later." Harry said looking towards the other male.

"Nonsense, it is unlike Kakashi to be on time anyways." The stranger said laughing, waving a hand dismissively.

Harry almost laughed at the old man's comment. It was true that Kakashi had a bad habit of being late all the time.

"Oh forgive me Harry, this is my very old friend Hiruzem Sarutobi, who is the 'Headmaster' of Konohagature. He is here to be on the judges panel for the Tournament." Dumbledore introduced. Harry now understood the old man's strange appearance, he dressed similarly to Kakashi and Minato Sensei. "Now what is it that you wanted to see me about?" Dumbledore inquired.

Harry looked questioningly over at Hiruzem, not sure if he was comfortable telling his dream to a complete stranger. Dumbledore seemed to understand his thought and begged him to continue nonetheless. Harry described the dream to the best of his ability, unable to remember all that had occured. The two old men listened intently nodding their heads in unison at Harry's words.

"I wouldn't concern yourself with this dream Mr. Potter. Fact though it may be, you are quite safe here." Hiruzem reasured.

"Indeed Harry, all you need to worry about is the Tournament and your course work." Dumbledore added.

Harry was about to ask Dumbledore to allow Kakashi to have a break, however the door to the Headmasters office opened. Harry turned around to see Minato Sensei walking through the threshold.

"Ah, Hokage-sama!" Minato said cheerfully bowing at the waist. Harry noticed that the blonde man was still sickly pale, he would have to tell the twins to not sneak him any more dangerous candy.

"Minato, how nice it is to see you." Hiruzem said in a language that Harry didn't understand. "I trust that the students here haven't changed your mind about being my successor." He said laughing.

Minato reached up to scratch the back of his head nervously. "Of course not Sandaime." He said reassuringly, a smile plastered on his face.

"Ah Harry, I didn't see you there." Minato addressed him, luckily in English Harry though to himself. Harry nodded towards his favorite teacher (besides Lupin) smiling back."where's Kakashi, I thought he'd be here" Minato asked.

"I thought he was waiting outside the office." Harry said.

"No, I didn't see him." Minato Sensei informed.

"Hmm... I don't feel him anywhere inside the perimeter of the school. He must have gone out to wait for you to finish here Harry." The Hokage said.

"We will just have to wait for him to return then. Harry, you should stay here as well. Hiruzem and I agreed that you should be made aware of the situation." Dumbledore said.

"You mean the fact that you hired Shinobi to pose as a teacher and a student to guard me throughout the school year, while hiding under the rouse of participating in the Triwizard Tournament." Harry said bluntly.

Minato and Hiruzem laughed, while Dumbledore looked a little unsettled.

"Why, yes." Professor Dumbledore said after a pause.

LineBreakLinebreakLinebreakLinebreak...

Kakashi was unsure of how long Harry needed to talk to Professor Dumbledore. He knew that he said he wouldn't take long, however; Harry seemed to be stressed over something. So he would give the boy time to talk things over with Dumbledore.

Having extra time on his hands, Kakashi decided to take a look around the perimeter. So far no one had succeeded in passing the protective charms surrounding the castle, however; one could never be to careful.

As he made his way along the border of the Forbidden Forest something seemed off. Kakashi stopped in his tracks to get a better sense of what had put him on edge. He knew that the Forest was infested with Dark Creatures, he had discovered that on his first night here. Although, not all of the Forests inhabitants were evil, the Centaurs were a noble breed that he had some how managed to befriend. However, he could smell no signs of the half horse, half man creatures.

Kakashi grabbed a kunai out of his pocket and threw it into the thickness of the woods, where he heard a soft whimper at the sound of the impact. He quickly rushed to the source of the sound finding a man dressed in dark apparel, with a mask obscuring the entirety of his face. He advanced towards the tall dark figure, bringing a second kunai to his throat.

"Who are you?" Kakashi asked viciously. The man was unimpressed at the sight of Kakashi.

"Hmm, just a boy. Albus Dumbledore is indeed a fool. Furthermore, a child who cannot even produce magic, but instead wields a knife." The man said.

"I said, who are you." He said more dangerously, pressing the blade closer to his jagular. The man squirmed beneath his hold, giving the response that Kakashi wanted.

"I wouldn't worry about that kid." He said as he brought his hand up to Kakashi's throat, brandishing a wand. "Now, your comming with me. The Dark Lord shall surely reward me for my success." He said cheerfully. "STUPIFY!" The man cried out, the spell hitting dead center. The death Eater smiled to himself as the form of the child fell to the ground, before disappearing into a cloud of smoke, reveiling a tree branch in his place.

"What?" The man said bewildered, looking around quickly to see where the boy had gone. Before he had a chance to counter attack, Kakashi kicked the man in the abdomen, causing him to fall backwards.

Kakashi felt another presence nearby, dodging a red colored curse in the process. Another man appeared, dressed similarly to the man clutching his stomach on the ground. He quickly advanced towards Kakashi, releasing curse after curse at the silver haired child.

"Claude! Get in here and help me catch him!" The one comming after Kakashi said.

Kakashi had to admit that they both were skilled in handling their wands. They both cast spells mercilessly towards Kakashi, not letting up. The one now known as Claude was getting closer to hitting his target. Kakashi was having a hard time dodging all the spells, three days without sleep was starting to put a strain on his body. Causing his movements to be less fluid and precise. When a third chakra signature appeared, Kakashi knew he had to deal with them quickly or else he would pass out from exhaustion.

"Sectumsempra!" The third man said. However, he missed his target hitting Claude square in the chest. Kakashi watched as gruesome lacerations appeared all over the man's body. Blood splattering all over Kakashi's face and clothes. Claude was screaming in agony, begging for the pain to stop. Kakashi approached the man quickly, slashing his throat in one fluid motion. Ending the poor man's misery. Claude dropped to the Forest floor with a thud, his eyes lay open reveiling his last pain suffered moments, his mouth still open in the position of his screams. It was a brutal sight.

Now that is an unforgivable curse, he thought to himself. Kakashi realized that if they wouldn't show mercy, then neither would he. He quickly formed the appropriate hand signs bringing his hand to his mouth.

"Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu! (Fire style: Fire Breath Jutsu)." Kakashi exclaimed, releasing a monument of flames from his mouth, burning the second Death Eater. Kakashi felt the thirds presence disappear, not leaving a trace. He must have apperated, he thought dryly. The second man, Kakashi had left alive to question. However, his burns were pretty severe.

Kakashi lifted up his Haite-ate, planning on retrieving any and all information from the man. The Death Eater gazed into Kakashi's blood red eye, fear overtaking him as his mind was ripped to pieces.

LineBreakLinebreakLinebreakLinebreak...

Harry and the others patiently waited for Kakashi to arrive, only 45 minutes had passed; however they all seemed a little irritated that Kakashi was taking so long. It wasn't long after that the boy in question entered the room, and to Harry's horor, was covered in blood. His clothes were soaked in the thick red liquid and his hair and face was stained by the blood that was splattered onto him. Even Dumbledore looked shocked.

Harry glanced over towards Minato Sensei and the Hokage, their faces neutral as if this were a regular occurrence.

"Oh my God! What happened to you?!" Harry shouted.

"Hokage-sama, Dumbledore-san." Kakashi addressed calmly and professionally, ignoring Harry's outburst. "While I was scouting the perimeter, I came across three hostiles; Death Eaters to be exact. One was hit in the crossfire, the spell dismembering his body. I proceeded to give the finishing blow, to end his suffering. After advancing on the remaining two, the one who produced the horrific spell disapeared. The last, I interrogated and received all necessary information. He is now locked in the North Hightower, where he shall be gathered up and sent to Azkaban." Kakashi informed.

Harry sweatdropped, how could someone give such a report so calmly and without emotion. Dumbledore quickly recovered over his previous shock, digesting the new information.

"Very good, Mr. Hatake. What did you find out from the Death Eater?" He asked.

"The Death Eaters name is Warnder, he was sent here by Voldemort with his partner Clause to gather information on the security of Hogwarts, or in other words, Minato Sensei and I. From what I have extracted, they have been stationed here for less than two weeks. The third Death Eaters name is Peter Petigrew, who is apparently Voldemorts right hand man. He came here not but two days ago to check up on their progress." Kakashi finished.

Dumbledore was silent for a long while, sorting out the recent update. Harry however, took the information more personally. Wormtail! The man who had betrayed his parents to Voldemort, had been in his reach for two days! He wished he had known, otherwise he would have gone looking for the slick rat himself. Clearing his Godfathers name in the process.

"Kakashi might I ask you an indelicut question?" Dumbledore asked politely.

"Hai." Kakashi responded immediately.

"I would like to extract the memory so that I may look into it for further information. Do not worry, it is a harmless spell that shall still allow you to possess the memory." He explained. Kakashi nodded to Harry's surprise. If Dumbledore had asked him to extract a memory he would have refused on the spot. Also, he had never heard of such a technique before, he would have to ask Hermione if she knew anything about it.

Professor Dumbledore motioned for Kakashi to come to him, pulling out his wand. He placed the tip on Kakashi's temple, a soft white light illuminating the wand. Dumbledore pulled his arm back, a brilliant silver string escaped Kakashi's temple. The headmaster places the memory into a silver bowl.

"Thank you Mr. Hatake. I shall take a look at this later and come to a decision on what needs to be done on the matter. Until then, you preformed admirably." He said smiling down at Kakashi, who looked slightly dizzy from the effects of the spell. "Now then, to why we are all gatherd here. However, this won't take long considering Harry already knows half of it." Dumbledore said while gently pushing Kakashi into a plush armchair before he collapsed onto the floor.

"Minato, Kakashi." The Hokage said in a serious tone. "Next week is the first trial of the Tournament and sense you are not allowed to know the details and therefore cannot properly protect Mr. Potter, I have brought with me a team of ANBU. To ensure the safety of Harry during his task. This team of ANBU is in fact your old squad Kakashi, before you left on this mission. I have placed Crow as captain, seeing as you are enable to fulfill that role." Sandaime said.

"Kakashi, you shall be able to resume your duty of protecting the boy for the second and third task. However, now that the enemy has decided to show themselves, I shall have the ANBU team on standby for the Tournament." He continued.

"Hai." Kakashi said, bowing his head since he couldn't stand.

"Minato, the enemy has seen Kakashi. So it would be best if you did not put yourself out there. You are to casually resume your position as a Hogwarts teacher and are only to show your position when the need arises. We must make the enemy believe that Potter only has one guard. Now I know this puts more strain on Kakashi, however; it is the only way." Hiruzem finished.

LineBreakLinebreakLinebreakLinebreak...

Harry and Kakashi walked back to the Dormitory running into Hermione.

"Harry, where have you been! I've been looking all over for you." She said.

"I went to go see Professor Dumbledore." He answered. She turned and saw Kakashi walking behind Harry, her eyes froze upon seeing the dried blood on his face. It was a good thing that Harry was obscuring most of her view, otherwise she would have seen the rest of the blood covering his figure.

"W-why are you covered in blood Kakashi?" Hermione asked stuttering.

"Oh well...uh. Harry will have to tell you. Right now I just want to shower, change and go to sleep. Potter, please don't leave the tower until tomorrow morning." Kakashi said giving Harry a pleading look before he bounded past them to the Dormitory, careful that no one would see him. Hermione stared after him dumbfounded, quickly turning towards Harry so that he can explain the situation to her. He sighed and led her to the Common Room awaiting to be bombarded by her questions.

Riddle Mansion (later)

Wormtail apperated right in front of Lord Voldemort, gasping for breath. The burns from the flames the boy had summoned irritated his skin, he had barely been able to avoid the attack. Voldemort looked down on him, a frown set on his weakened face.

"What happened!?" Voldemort demanded. Wormtail looked worryingly towards his master, fear racking through his body.

"M-my Lord, I did as you bid me. I went to see the progress of Clause and Warnder, they had managed to infiltrate the perimeter through the Forbiden Forest. Where we were met with a silver haired boy, no older than Potter's age with fangs like a wolf, who attacked us mercilessly. H-he used wandless magic my Lord, the likes of which I have never seen. He murdered Clause and incapacitated Warnder. Before I escaped, I saw him interrogate Warnder. He used no potion nor any spell to gather the information but a magical eye, red as blood. It's abilities I do not know the full extent of." Petigrew said trembling.

Voldemort pondered the information he had received. A mere child was able to kill and capture two of his most elite followers. A child with a blood red eye, whose magical abilities far exceeded anything he had ever heard of.

"Wandless magic?" Voldemort asked again.

"Yes, my Lord Voldemort." Wormtail said with more confidence, seeing that Voldemort wasn't vivid.

The Dark Lord smiled to himself. The mission he had been planning for months on end would have to change. He would succeed in killing Harry Potter, and he would bring this mystery child into his forces. He would have many uses for someone of his talents and he would do anything to have him. Anything.
