...........................................................

Kakashi walked towards the Gryffindor Common Room, angry with Dumbledore and the entirety of the Wizarding community. There was no way in hell he was staying here, he missed the Leaf to much. (Well, he missed the danger and different array of difficult missions more like.) Sure he had nothing against Harry and the others, but that didn't mean he would stay here just for them; the world didn't work that way.

He ran up the stairs to the dormitory, hoping that everyone else was packing so that it wouldn't look like he was in such a terrible rush to get out of their. Sure enough to his luck, Harry, Ron and Neville were all packing their trunks.

"Hey Kakashi!" Neville greeted cheerfully, happy to see the silver haired teen after the third task. Kakashi nodded his head curtly, moving over to start sealing his belongings into scrolls.

"So what did Professor Dumbledore want to see you about?" Harry asked curriously, stuffing his socks into his trunk.

"Nothing." Kakashi said without really paying attention, his mind souly on leaving the Castle.

"Did you not even go see Dumbledore?" Ron asked.

"Of course I saw him." Kakashi said while throwing all his belongings on top of a scroll without organizing it, sealing everything away. He quickly shoved the scroll into his black bag, throwing it over his shoulder.

"So... what did he say." Harry pressed again.

"Nothing of great significance." Kakashi said irritated, moving to leave the Dormitory before Ron stopped him.

"Why are you in such a hurry mate?" Ron asked confused.

"Are you in trouble Kakashi, did the meeting not go that well?" Harry asked, now worried. He had feared that Kakashi would be punished by his superiors for his actions in the graveyard.

"Yes, I am in a hurry, and no, it did not go well. But not in the way that you think." Kakashi answered, grabbing his belongings and shoving past Ron, successfully exiting the dorm. On his way down the stairs, he ran straight into Hermione, causing her to drop the books she was carrying.

"Sorry Hermione!" Kakashi said apologetically, kneeling down to pick up her things. He mentally cursed himself for not sensing her presence sooner.

"It's alright Kakashi." She said sweetly before taking notice of his odd behavior. "Are you alright?" She asked.

"Fine, I just... I have to get going." He said in a rush, trying to get past her without making her drop her things again.

"Your not leaving already are you! And without saying goodbye!?" Hermione said upset, grabbing a hold of his arm to stop him from moving past her.

"Your right... I'm sorry." Kakashi said, realizing his stupidity. He calmly took in a deep breath of air, trying to calm his nerves. Hermione looked over him, wondering what was really going on.

"So are you really leaving?" She asked again just as Harry and Ron made it down the stairs to catch up to Kakashi.

"Yes, I need to be getting back. My mission is completed, so I need to report back to the Hokage in the Leaf as soon as possible." He answered for her. Kakashi felt his heart throb when he saw a tear slide down her soft pale cheek, hating himself for hurting her feelings.

"Your leaving!?" Harry said loudly, also taken back by Kakashi's sudden decision. "But what about the farewell feast and departure Cerimony tomorrow? Besides, you need to collect your winnings from the Minister of Magic for winning the Tournament!" Harry added quickly. Kakashi turned towards him, sending an apologetic glance.

"I don't want the money, I already get compensation for completing the mission from Dumbledore, you keep it Harry. Or better yet, give the money to the Diggory family." He suggested.

"But what about your Villiage, couldn't it use an extra 5,000 Galleons?" Ron asked, confused as to why Kakashi wouldn't take such a large amount of money. That he rightfully earned no less!

"Look guys, I really need to get going. A potential war is stirring up in my Country and I need to get back to it as soon as possile. Besides, I really don't feel the need to take part in some useless feast and departure Cerimony. So could you all just do me a favor and get out of my way." Kakashi stated crudely. Hermione let go of Kakashi's arm, offended by his harsh and cruel words. Harry's gut twisted with anger, his fists tightening up at his words.

"You really haven't changed, no matter our efforts. This really was just a mission. You befriended us to make your 'job' easier. Well, good job Kakashi, you completed your mission as well as lost us!" Harry said sarcastically. Kakashi stood still, taking the heat. He didn't care, it's not like he would be comming back any way. Besides, this was the best way to part on his end, for the safety and wellbeing of his friends. Not that he would admit to them that they really were his friends. He wouldn't show weaknesses, weakness was for those who wished to be hurt. And he couldn't allow himself to be hurt again. He was a curse, if he stayed, then Harry, Ron and Hermione would suffer the same fate as Obito and Rin.
He had to leave before he could change his mind about staying. He hadn't really wanted to stay when Dumbledore made the offer, but now that he had more time to think about it, he wanted nothing more than to stay. But he wouldn't, he couldn't start showing emotions now. However, they did deserve a proper goodbye, his selfish decision didn't bring cause for them to be hurt in such a matter.

"That's not fair Harry, I'm sure Kakashi didn't really mean it." Hermione tried, looking over at Kakashi hopefully.

"Oh no, he ment it. If it's crude and brutally honest, he meant it!" Harry said, interrupting her.

"Kakashi?" Hermione asked desperately. Kakashi looked at her apologetically, he wanted to tell them everything but knew it wouldn't change anything. It was in their best interests for him to leave, without any emotional attachments. Otherwise he feared that his enemies would use them against him. This was his last chance to break all ties with them, no matter how much pain it caused.

"I'm sorry if you feel that way Potter. But you must understand, this is my job. It was my job the whole time, so if you feel as though I am just as cruel and heartless of an individual as I was at the beginning of the year, then you would be right." He said defeated, turning away to leave the Gryffindor Common Room for the last time.

Hermione made to go after him, not believing a word he said. However, Harry grabbed her arm, stopping her from leaving.

"He's not worth it Hermione." Harry said darkly, although not towards her. He felt betrayed and didn't want her feelings hurt beyond what they already were.

"Let go Harry." She said firmly, looking deep into Harry's eyes. To her suprise, Harry did let her go, allowing her to move past him.

She ran through the hallways, unsure of where to find Kakashi. There weren't many places in the Castle that he would escape to. He loved being outside to train, so maybe he would be there. Hermione greatly hoped that he hadn't already teleported home, but doubted it considering he had only just grasped the concept and couldn't go that far a distance. She ran outside to the courtyard, heading into the direction of the Black Lake. She kept her eyes peeled for any sign of the Shinobi, who just happened to be a master at hiding. She gambled on the hope that he would show himself to her once he saw that she was out looking for him.

Kakashi was on the border of the Forbidden Forrest, looking at the names he carved into the wood, cursing his name at his foolishness and selfish behavior. Obito would surly no doubt be disappointed with him, he could hear his last words echo in his mind.

Those who do not obey the rules and regulations are trash, however; those who abandon their comrades are worse than trash!

Potter was right, he hadn't changed. He hoped that he had after Obito's death, but apparently all of his efforts were in vain. Rin's death alone proved that fact, but now he had once again singlehandedly hurt the feelings of people he considered to be friends. He deserved to live alone and in misery. It would be better and safer for everyone around him. That would now include everyone in the Leaf, sure Gai wouldn't appreciate his decision, but it had to be made. He wouldn't be able to bear loosing anyone else.

After apologizing to both Obito and Rin, he decided to go to Minato Sensei's office, hoping that the Jounin was also ready to leave. But before he could make it back to the Castle, he saw Hermione searching the grounds for him no doubt. He internally smiled, wanting to make amends with her before he left. He didn't care much for Harry and Ron, they had already made their opinion on his account pretty clear. But Hermione was different, he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he didn't say a proper goodbye to her. If he did, perhaps Obito would cut him some slack in the afterlife. He hesitantly made his way over to her, catching her attention. Hermione looked relieved at finding him as well, also wanting to say a proper goodbye.

"Kakashi! I'm so glad I found you!" She said positively beaming, making him regret his past actions.

"Hermione, I'm so, so sorry." He started before she cut him off.

"Oh Kakashi, I know you didn't mean any of it. Your not the only one who's good at reading the terrain." Hermione said.

"How did you gather that?" He asked bemused.

"Your the one always telling me to 'look beneath the underneath'" She said, imitating his voice exactly. Kakashi laughed at her imitation of him, surprised by the close resemblance.

"I really am sorry though." He said, disappointed in himself.

"I know." She said sweetly, "Just tell me what caused you to react so badly." Hermione asked kindly.

"Its just something that Dumbledore Sensei said." He said, remembering the encounter.

"Your not in trouble are you?" She asked, now worried.

"No, no. Nothing like that." He reassured, "Its just... He invited me to stay another year to learn western style magic. Apparently I have the capability to become a wizard." He said, watching Hermione's eyes widden with surprise.

"But how can that be!? Wizards can't learn jutsu, so how can you be able to learn magic?" She asked excitedly.

"Something about 'blood status', or something like that. I don't really get it either." He admited shamefully.

"But, why won't you stay? I'm sure your Hokage would understand. You could make the point that it would be benifitial for you to learn magic so that you can be a more powerful Shinobi. And who knows, maybe there are other wizards in your Country that you could teach." She reasoned intellectually. "Or don't you want to stay?" She added sadly.

"I do want to stay, but I feel torn. With a war going on isn't it selfish of me to keep away here? Besides, I don't know if you know this or not, but Minato is to be the next Hokage. So I need to be there to support him during his transition. I'm tasked as the ANBU directly under the Hokage, so my position won't change. If anything else, I'll have more responsibility under Minato Sensei." Kakashi answered.

"I didn't know you were that far up the chain Kakashi, your only 15 years old!" Hermione said shocked. "I thought that they just sent you because of your age, not ability! Unless of course your family has high standing in your government. Much like how pureblood families do here in the Ministry."

"I graduated from the academy at 5, I have more experience than most seasoned Shinobi. And no, I do not have this high rank because of family nobility. In fact, if the counsel had their way, I wouldn't be a ninja at all." He said, laughing at her reaction of his place in his militaries rank.

"Why not?"

"My father was a traitor, remember." He answered. Hermione instantly berated herself for forgetting that fact, hoping that Kakashi wasn't offended by her carelessness.

"But your uncle Jiraya is a Sanin, a student of the Hokage? Doesn't that mean anything?" She countered, trying to prove that family ties and status does guarantee political upstanding.

"As much as the Sanin are powerful, they each have issues that prevent them from being a pivotal voice. One: Orichamaru betrayed the Villiage, two: Lady Tsunade is a drunken gambler and Jiraiya is a pervert." Kakashi said annoyed by his own uncle's hobby. "I can tell that you would really enjoy living in my Country. Because unlike here, your own efforts, talents and brains get you to the top, not blood status or money. For example, the Hokage is the most powerful Shinobi in the Villiage, not the person with the best pompous resume like Fudge." He explained humorously. And he was right, Hermione was certainly pleased by his Countries organization, dispite the fact that it still sounded like a Dictatorship, what with it being run by a military figure and all.

"But even so, you won't stay. Unless of course commanded to do so by your superiors?" She said.

"That sounds about right, but I don't think I would enjoy the notion of school again. I was barely able to cope with that this year, and I wasn't even a full student." Kakashi said, solidifying his decision.

"I understand. Although I do hope that you will write, even if just occasionally." She pleaded.

"I'll try, however don't expect me to write to Harry. I ment what I said about him." Kakashi said honestly.

"I wouldn't expect you to. What he said towards you was uncalled for. It might even take me a while to forgive him." Hermione said, causing Kakashi to smile.

"But if for some reason I can't write to you, remember this Hermione, that the fruit of all knowledge is found in yourself, not in your books. Never stop believing in yourself and know that kindness and selfless behavior is the key to success. You are an intelligent and bright witch, and I wish you luck in your future endeavors. And should you ever have the heart to forgive Harry, please tell him that bravery is not the source of strength, but that love is. Because love will allow you to make clear and decisive decisions. Do to not blind yourself with false strength, or it will lead to your demise." Kakashi said, knowing that it was out of love that he was leaving. He wouldn't allow his selfish feelings result in their deaths. So with those words, he gave a soft hug to Hermione, the girl who would always remind him of his greatest love... Rin, and left.

Hermione stood there alone after Kakashi had used Minato Sensei's Flying Thunder God technique, computing what he had said to memory. She then felt hot thick tears fall down her cheeks, falling down to land on the soft green grass. Hogwarts would not be the same without Hatake Kakashi, dispite what he himself thought. Hermione looked up at the huge majestic castle, getting her last fill of the beautiful view before having to go home for the summer. She started to leave the feild before something shiny caught her attention. She kneeled down to find the same necklace that Kakashi used to speak English, finding a note tucked in underneath it.

Hermione,

I asked Dumbledore to reverse the spell placed on the charm, I hope you will use it to learn Japanese like you wanted. As well as having a token to remember me by.

-Hatake Kakashi.

Hermione read the note over and over again, delighted at the small but thoughtful gift. She turned the note over, finding a mailing address.

Elemental Fire Nation, Leaf Village.

Hatake Compound, Konohagakure no Sato.

Hermione was even more surprised to find a mailing address, honored by the notion. Kakashi deemed her trustworthy enough to send mail to his 'very hidden and secret' Nation. The very gesture brought more tears to her eyes and warmth to her heart. She then happily made her way back to the Castle to finish packing, nothing could bring her spirits down after this.

LineBreakLinebreakLinebreakLinebreak...

Kakashi appeared right in front of Minato, the tag he had placed in his office placing him right by the man's desk. Minato looked up from his book, not put off by Kakashi's sudden appearance.

"I see that you are all ready to go." Minato said cheerfully while standing up to grab his pack. He was also in a slight rush to get home. Kushina had told him a couple weeks ago that she was pregnant, and he wanted nothing more than to be with her right at this moment.

"Hai." Kakashi said, glad that his Sensei was also in a hurry to leave.

"Great! So Dumbledore Sensei gave me this sock yesterday, stating that it was a Portkey. The same one that brought us here in the first place. It will activate when both of our Chakra signatures are present. However, he did warn that more time has passed in the Hidden Nations. The concealment jutsu hiding it from the world also allows time to pass more quickly there. Hiruzem calculated that 8 months here is a year and half there." Minato said seriously.

"So your saying that Gai is taller than me, as well as older than me." Kakashi said depressed. Minato laughed at his students one complaint, now sure that the only thing that could unerve him was Might Gai.

Minato held out the sock for Kakashi to grab, taking one last glance around his office, excited for the new one to come. Kakashi also took one last pannal glance around the room, ready to get the hell out of there. Kakashi clasped his right hand around the old dirty sock, feeling the same sensation in his gut as he had when he first traveled by this way, disappearing into the void.

The last thing he heard was Obito's voice in his head saying, Well done, Kakashi!

...........................................................

(Kakashi's conversation with Minato at the end was italicized because he gave his charmed necklace to Hermione. Just in case that threw anyone off)

That's the end of this book😟

I hoped you enjoyed it.

Note: I will be publishing a second book with this plotline. I have had many requests for another one and sense I am a nice person, I shall do just that!!!
