Return
Kakashi watched Hinata as she argued with the village elders. They didn't want to risk the lives of the many for Obito, but she wasn't going to give in. They figured his loss wouldn't be too much of a true loss seeing as he was the outcast Uchiha anyways. Hinata wasn't going to stand for it though. Hiruzen seemed to be on her side but the others anted nothing to do with a mission to save the boy. Hinata slammed her hands down on the desk and it shook the entire room, which made Tsunade smirk from her place against the wall. The village elders stared at her with wide eyes, while the fire had never once left her lilac ones, the veins around her eyes making her seem all the more intimidating for a sixteen year old.
"I will go after him myself." She snarled and Kakashi smirked beneath his mask. He had never seen her so fierce but he liked it. "As will I." he said and she turned to look over at him in slight surprise. She only offered him a slight nod as he crossed his arms over his chest. He had come to respect her after he witnessed everything she had gone through. She had proved just how strong she was, especially when she turned that boulder to dust with a single punch. He couldn't wait to see her take that anger out on the one who took Obito.
"They will not go alone, I will go with them as well." Minato called out as he softly closed the door behind him. "This is my team, I will be the one to go save my student." He said and Tsunade's smirk widened ever so slightly. "Seems you wont be able to stop them, might as well go ahead and approve it." she said and Hiruzen looked over to her. "Since you are so keen on them going, you get to go with them." He grumbled, but before she could curse him for delegating her as the fourth member Hinata offered her a smile and a nod.
"It would be an honor to have you along, Lady Tsunade." Minato said and she sighed but nodded. "Fine fine. You win. We leave in an hour." She grumbled and he nodded, but looked over to Kakashi and Hinata. "Go get prepared, this is going to be dangerous." He said and they both nodded before they took off out of the window. Kakashi looked over to Hinata as she walked beside him. "Hey.. Hinata... you know that man tried to send you away before.... Do you think you should disguise yourself so he doesn't try it again?" he asked and she shook her head.
"No, I want him to know it's me." She said softly and he furrowed his brow. "What about Obito... if he tries to send you again, I don't think he would be able to handle it..." he reasoned and she sighed once more. Her eyes softened and she began fiddling with her fingertips once more. She seemed to be contemplating the idea which he was grateful for. "Fine, what do you have in mind?" she asked after a while and he motioned for her to follow him to his house.
He opened an armor case and within there was a rabbit anbu mask. "I uh... had this made for you." He said as he scratched the back of his neck. Her soft giggles filled the room and he blushed lightly. "Did Obito tell you about my pajamas?" she asked and he blushed a little darker. Obito had seen her in her pajamas?
"Oh... uh... no. you just always reminded me of a rabbit." He said and she took the mask and smiled at him. Or maybe it was just that he thought she reminded him of the stories of the Rabbit Princess and how they had described her as a beautiful goddess, but either way he didn't need to tell her that. He watched as she slipped the mask on and he nodded to her as he made a move to gather his own anbu gear and took towards his room to get ready.

Hinata gathered her chakra into her fists, this was it. This was where they would save Obito. She slammed her fist into the opening to the Otsutsuki graveyard and stepped back as the rocks began crumbling to open the cavern. Hinata slunked backwards as Zetsu started flooding out from the cavern. Tsunade began taking out the odd plant creatures while Kakashi and Minato rushed within the cavern to take on the zetsu covered Madara. However instead of only Madara, there was another figure cloaked by a zetsu. This figure rushed right for Kakashi and sent him flying into the nearest wall, then turned on Minato and tried to do the same.
Minato was faster than the figure gave him credit for though as none of his hits could make impact in the slightest. Hinata dove in and tried to slam her leg against this one, but her leg passed right through him and she immediately knew. "This one is nonlethal!" she called and they backed off of him. That was their code for Obito, the 'do not kill' code. While the others were taking out the zetsu clones and fighting with Madara Obito decided he was going to take his anger out on her. Hinata's eyes went wide as his chain wrapped around her ankle and with a swift yank, she was sent flying towards the wall. To minimize the impact, she turned in midair and crouched when she hit the wall.
Another chain wrapped around her wrists and she was pulled right towards the person, where they had a kunai at the ready. Hinata wasn't going to let him hurt her and live with that regret for the rest of his life, so before he could get within reach of her with the blade, she snapped her chains and hit the ground rolling. She jumped back to her feet and rushed at him once more he began swinging the chain once more, but this time every time he tried to hit her with it, she avoided every swipe. She was gaining on him fast and it seemed to startle him as she didn't pull any weapons to attempt an attack. Instead, she just wrapped her arms around the space he had been, her heart sank as he phased through her and attempted to plunge the blade into her side, but she grabbed the blade and forced it back to him.
He phased away once more and took the time to watch her for a moment before he threw the blade to the ground and rushed at her once more. Hinata focused her chakra into her palms and sent a shoddy empty palm at him, only skidding him back the slightest bit. That was when he turned on the other man cloaked in a zetsu. "Are you serious, gramps?! You showed me how she died!" he yelled, the swirl of vines unwrapping from his face revealing Obito. His long shaggy hair falling around his face freely now.
"Was anything you told me the truth? What of Rin, is she ok?" he asked, only for Madara to appear behind him with a blade to his neck. Minato crouched beside her and struggled to catch his breath from fighting Madara. "You are all weak, if you step any closer, I will kill him." Madara rasped and Hinata glared at the man as she ripped the mask off her face. He frowned at her but dug the blade into the side of Obito's neck. "If you go back, I will let him go." He offered as he opened a portal back to her time, which she looked at angrily. She didn't want to go back. "How do I know you're telling the truth?" she asked and he frowned deeper but released Obito from the zetsu surrounding his body. It crept away and crawled up Madara's body to join with the other one.
She made a move to step through the portal, only to get struck with a searing pain in her side. She looked down to see a senbon embedded in her ribs, the next thing she knew she heard Obito scream and then the darkness seeped into her vision.
:-:-:
Obito screamed as he saw the weapon connect with her side, it was as if all control left his body the moment Madara opened his mouth to taunt him about Hinata falling for that trick. He couldn't remember exactly what had happened, only that suddenly the man was now dead at his feet and he held the link to the Gedo in his hands. Minato was rushing over to him now as well. He hit his knees and Minato surrounded him in a hug, as did Kakashi. "We thought you were dead, I'm so sorry we never came for you." Minato said and he just grinned at them. "You came for me now, that's all that matters." He said, only to jump out of their grasp and rush over to Hinata and Tsunade, who was busy removing whatever toxin Madara had injected her with.
He crouched beside her and patted her cheek gently. Her eyes fluttered open softly and she smiled up at him. "Obito-kun..." she whispered and he hugged her to him tightly. "I'm sorry you got hurt!" he said and she giggled softly as she reached up and touched his cheek gently. He blushed as her fingers traced over his empty eye and she didn't even flinch as she realized it was empty. "He told me all about you, you know... the girl from the future who wanted to thwart his plans to make everyone happy... but I never believed it for a moment..." Obito said softly and she smiled at him.
"I only ever wanted to make you happy, Obito." She whispered as her eyes fluttered shut once more, he began to panic, but Tsunade placed a hand on his shoulder and offered a small smile. "She's tired is all, it takes a lot out of a person to have poison removed." She explained as she helped lift her off the ground. "You all head home and have the Anbu meet me out here so we can handle this all properly." Minato said as he pulled out a sealing scroll and took Madara's eyes and sealed them within; just as Hinata had instructed.
He watched her the entire way back to the village. He just couldn't stop thinking about her. Everyone kept saying that she liked him, but he couldn't see it. He couldn't understand why they would think she ever liked him in the first place. His eyes drifted over to her once more, but then he sighed. He knew she liked him he was just making excuses now. It wasn't that it didn't make him happy, because it did, it was just the fact that she wasn't even meant to be here. Why would she sit here and make him care for her, just for her to leave?
It was all he could think about as he made his way through the gates of the village. The first ones to rush up to him were Mikoto and Fugaku, which honestly surprised him to no end. Mikoto embraced him in a tight hug and began crying the moment she saw him. His lips trembled as he hugged her back, she really seemed to have been worried about him. She leaned back and that was when he noticed she was heavily pregnant. He already knew Kushina was pregnant as well, seeing as Madara was plotting an attack on them to steal the ninetails from her. he looked up to see ANBU rushing past him, but a few were lingering behind and waiting on him it seemed.
Oh... so he was classified as a missing nin... shit.
He released Mikoto and made his way over to the ANBU, who ushered for him to follow them. He took one last look at the unconscious Hinata as they took her to the hospital to seek treatment for her wounds. He followed them up to the hokage tower, where he saw that the interrogation team was waiting for him with grim looks on their faces. "Please... you don't have to do that... I will tell you everything." He said and they frowned deeper.
"If you fail to tell us anything at all, that is what we will have to resort to."

Hinata's eyes cracked open and she relished the gentle light that flooded her vision. She blinked a couple times to focus her vision, only to smile and look around. There had been a warmth on both sides of her bed and she was thrilled to see Kakashi with his head buried in his arms near her feet, while Rin was on the opposite side of the bed with her face buried in one arm while the other was stretched out and touching kakashi's elbow. The two of them were adorable and she loved that they had opened up to one another after all. She reached down and tapped both of them on the heads and they jolted up to look at her in surprise.
"Hinata!" Rin chirped as she lunged to hug her friend tightly. Hinata smiled and hugged her back just as tightly. "I haven't seen you since I've been back, I'm so happy to see you." Hinata said and Rin grinned at her slyly. "You know you only came back for him." Rin teased and a blush covered her cheeks. She moved to look away from the girl, but Rin only burst out into giggles at Hinata's avoidance. She was right, she had originally only come here to save Obito, but she knew she would always come back to be with all of them.
A soft rapping at the door interrupted her thoughts and she turned to see Tsunade in the doorway. "Hokage wants to meet with you, Hinata." She said and she nodded as she slipped out of the bed and made her way over the closet holding her clothes instead of the light blue medical scrubs she was wearing. When she turned back around both Rin and Kakashi were headed out the door with small waves. She changed in the bathroom while Tsunade propped up against the wall patiently.
"How do you feel?" she asked as Hinata pulled her shirt over her head. "I feel great honestly... I'm just worried about Obito." She sighed and Tsunade chuckled lightly. "You shouldn't be, he has been in and out of here every day for the past week since you have been resting." Tsunade said and Hinata blushed lightly. "You know, he was holding your hand and everything. You might need to talk to him." Tsunade said with a wink, only for the blush to darken on Hinata's cheeks. Just as Tsunade opened her mouth to say something else, the person in question appeared in the doorway with a bundle of flowers in his grasp.
"I know she wont be awake for some time now, but I thought I would bring her some flowers again..." he said as he made his way past Tsunade while scratching the back of his head with his free hand. Tsunade only slipped out of the room to wait by the doorway. Hinata's eyes softened as he made his way to the window and placed the flowers in the windowsill with a bright smile. They were beautiful laventer colored lilies and she couldn't help the smile that crossed her lips at how painfully oblivious he was. "Obito." She called out and he jumped, releasing a yelp as he looked around the room to find her. A deep blush covered his cheeks as he caught sight of her.
"This is... not what it looks like, but exactly what it looks like..." he sighed as he covered his blushing face with his hands. "I'm not sappy." He grumbled and she giggled as she made her way over to him and pulled his hands away from his face. She held both of his hands in hers and she didn't think it could get any darker, his blush darkened some. "Thank you, Obito." She whispered and he nodded as he looked away from her. she reached up and brushed the bangs away from his left eye, only to see he was holding it closed. Her fingers brushed over his cheek and he turned to look at her once more.
"Hinata-chan?" he asked and she smiled once more. "I'm just so happy you're ok." She whispered, only for him to close his eye and sigh. "Of course... if it weren't for you, I wouldn't be." He said and hugged her tightly, only to pull back some and plant a kiss on her forehead. "Thank you." He said and she frowned only to hug him back tightly. She offered him a hand and he took it as they walked out into the hallway where Tsunade was waiting for them. "Come on kids, time to go see gramps." She said and they nodded.
They held hands the entire way to the hokage tower, where everyone made little comments about how cute they were. Obito had tried his best to hide his blush but it only resulted in him making odd faces and Hinata to laugh at him the entire trip there. When they approached the room where the meeting was to be held, they tried to tell her Obito had to stay outside but she didn't want that. They started arguing with the guards, only for Hiruzen to silence them and open the door for Obito as well. They made their way into the room and Hiruzen sat back at his desk. She smiled at the elder man and he offered a small one back at her.
"I brought you in here today because I have figured out how to send you home." He said and her eyes lit up. She needed to go back and see her Obito again. See how she had changed everything to help him. Obito's grip tightened on her hand and she turned to look at him sadly. "Please don't leave me..." he said and her heart ached at the tone in his voice. She grabbed both of his hands in hers and smiled softly. "you'll see me again I promise." She said and he shook his head at her. "I don't want to have to see you again. I want to keep seeing you now!" he snapped, tears forming in his eyes. As soon as they began trailing over his cheeks she began wiping them away.
"Please don't go... I don't want to have to wait to see you again, I waited so long already..." he whispered and she smiled softly as she continued to wipe away his tears. "You know... where I'm from... you promised to marry me... Of course, we had to wait a bit because you were older than me, but you promised you would marry me. So, you keep that promise, even if it is a while before you see me again." She said and he continued to shake his head at her. "I want to marry you when we turn eighteen! I love you please don't go." He said and she smiled a little wider. In all reality, he had promised he would marry her, it was just in one of the most unorthodox ways she had ever heard.
"I did this all for you. I wanted to save you from what happens in the future, Obito. Because I love you too... But... I have to go. I'm sorry... there's an older version of you that is worried sick about me, wondering what happened to me... so I need to go." She said and he continued to cry, but she planted a small kiss on his lips and the tears stopped as he kissed her back. When she pulled away from him, he was still frowning. "Please, Obito... I need you to keep smiling for me..." she said and he nodded. "I never got to see you smile in my time, so keep smiling for me." She said and he nodded with a little more fervor this time.
"Call in Rin and Kakashi, I would like to say goodbye to them as well please..." she said and Tsunade opened the door to let them in. the two of them rushed in and made their way over to the crying Obito who was busy trying to hide said tears from his friends. They looked from him to Hinata, only to see the slight blushes on their cheeks as well. "Ooooh Obito got a kiss!" Rin chirped and he managed a small shut up as he continued to wipe his eyes. "She's going home." He grumbled and they both looked at her in shock.
"Hinata... why?" Rin asked and Hinata only smiled at her. she explained it in the same way she had explained it to Obito, that she was leaving because the older version of Obito was probably wondering what on earth had happened to her. They smiled at her and nodded. Rin hugged her tightly as she tried to hold back her own tears. Hinata looked to Kakashi who had lingered back, but he hugged her tightly as well, surprising her. She hugged him back and when he stepped away, she could see that he was trying not to cry as well, and Kakashi didn't cry.
"I'll see you all again, I promise!" she said and they all nodded as she backed up into the tame-space portal that Hiruzen had created, only to reach out and link her pinky with Obito's one last time. "Promise me you'll find me." She said and he nodded rapidly as he tightened the link on their pinkies. "I promise I will find you!" he said and she nodded as she released him and stepped back through the portal. In a blinding flash of light she was gone. She squeezed her eyes shut and waited for the light to dull down and all movement to stop before she even attempted to open them.
She slowly opened her eyes and the moment she did, they went wide. She looked up to see that her worst fear had been confirmed. She was still on the battlefield. She looked around to see that pods from the divine tree had begun lowering to the ground and dropping people out of them. She got up on her hands and knees and she looked around, seeing both bodies and living people lying all around her. she forced herself to her feet and made her way to where she saw Kakashi sitting beside someone with white hair. Her eyes went wide as she rushed over to them and saw that it was Obito.
She stumbled and fell short of her target but he looked at her and grinned as she forced herself back up. Tears welled up in her eyes as she realized he was still scarred, but he was still alive. She jumped and tackled him in a hug, surprising Kakashi. He hugged her tightly and ruffled her hair as she cried. "I was so worried about you..." she said and he chuckled. "I was worried about you as well." He said and she leaned back and touched his face gently. As if realizing why she were doing this he smiled at her. "I'm still here." He said and she began crying as he said this. He nuzzled his nose with hers and she wrapped her arms around his shoulders tightly as he held her.
"I'm still here, for as long as you need me, I will be here."
