Mirza Maula

A day later, Maula was dragged out of the cell and lead to a wrestling ring set up in the courtyard of the Natt palace.

"Eh vekkho saareyo, Jattaan da sher!" Noori Natt announced to the surrounding spectators. More Natt lords were still filing in, but they were more amazed when the Natt Sardaar walked between them to get to her throne. Even Maula watched her carefully as she ascended the steps. As he was taking a look around, he spotted some men from his own village standing uncomfortably in the crowd. No doubt brought by Noori's order.

"Hun assi vekheyaan, iss Pindh da babbar sher kon ae! Pehli vaari koi saccha dushman Noori de agge khada hoya ae. Aide hath te khol, sohneya! Phir honniye asli jung. Khol!"

Guards quickly released Maula and he intimidatingly jutted his chest at them.

"Aaja mere sher. Dhaar!" Noori goaded him and Maula Jatt let out a battle cry as he leapt at his opponent. The Jatt and Natt were equally matched, and drew a lengthy battle. Once, when Noori had knocked down Maula, Daro jumped up in concern for him. Maula noticed and smiled, then turned around and attacked her brother. Daro was equally worried for her brother.

The moon had witnessed their battle and now the sun was peeking through. Both fighters were injured but their fire was still burning. They were both kneeled on the ground back to back, catching their breath and planning their next moves. Maula felt Noori rise and searched for his spear, then thrust the sharp tip back.

Her scream confirmed his hit.

The proud Natt yanked the spear, pulling Maula close, but he had no strength left to fight. Maula yanked the spear out, sending Noori staggering. The villain touched his gaping wound, and enjoyed seeing his own blood on his fingers.

"Swaad aya, sohneya!" and with one last catchphrase, the terror of the Pindh finally ended. Now the only screams came from his only living relative. Daro cried and ran down the stairs to catch her brother before his light faded, but some enemies still tried to put out her lights. However, the loathed Sardaarni was once again rescued by the man who had seconds ago killed her own brother.

Maula's thrown dagger pinned her assassin's sleeve to the pillar, but everyone else was frozen out of pure shock. Daro finally collapsed against the wall, mourning the brother who had been her everything, her literal reason to be alive.

"Hunni dhiyaan nal sunlo saareo!" Maula announced. "Ajj ton Maula da hukm chale ga. Jinne nai sunna, o inni door chala jae jaan Maula di nazar na jae, warna Maula tennu chadna nai ae!"

After his claim, Maula collapsed, but his villagers ran up and caught him. They were taking him off when Maula noticed Daro again. He weakly pointed at her but his men misinterpreted him and one of them pulled out a dagger to hurt her. Maula summoned his strength to pull the man back and took his dagger.

"Sardaarni nu aude kamre che le jau. Onnu marea, te main tenu maar dan ga," Maula instructed.

Some of his men left him and picked up the Nattni as she resisted, and followed her maids to take her to her room.

When Maula opened his eyes next, he found himself lying in the bed of his parents' killer. Victorious, he smiled and rested his head to the side and was surprised to see his foster mother beside him.

"Bebe," Maula weakly reached out to her and she grabbed his hand and held if to her face.

"Araam kar, puttar. Tennu vi kam chotan nai laggi."

Maula chuckled and lifted himself to sit up against the headrest. "Ah, tu te mennu jandi ae. Ajj diggeyaan, te kal khalota hona main."

"Aho!" A cheerful voice cut in and they turned to see Mukkho come in.

"Manne: ajj ae sardaar banneya ae. Te kal dhoom dhaam naal ae dhula ban ke mere naal viah rachaye ga!"

Bebe twisted her lips, impressed, while Maula was lost in thought.

"Aur haan sunlo! Hun main saste vich kaam nai chalaana. Mainu aali shaan baraat chahi diye. Dhol, bhangra. Sabh kuch!" Mukkho danced.

"Ki soch reya ae, Maula?" His mother asked as she noticed his concern.

"Main socheya ae, ki main dova kabilaan nu mila kar ik bana lena. Pher aggo jaa ke panga na pe jaave."

"Gal te changi ae, lekin hoe ga kaistrah?" Bebe asked.

Maula nodded his brows at his bride to be. Bebe looked between them, then playfully smacked his head.

"Odhe prah ne thodi ziyada hi tere sir te laa ditti ae. Jais trah ik pind ich do sher nai reh sakde, os trah ik ghar ch do zanaania nai tikniya."

"Leh. Tenu lagda ae aidde vadde mehel chon ikko hi ghar hove ga?"

"Ve ki gal kar reo tussi dovan?" Mukkho came over and sat by his feet.

"Tu hi samjha le ainnu," Bebe scolded as she got up to leave. "Viah hoya ae hi nai ke tere utte sautan ladna chaunda hai."

"Ve tennu ae mehel chaida ke nai?" Maula argued. "Tavi milenga jaddo saddha sardaarni naal viah hove ga."

"Vekh kinna siyaana ae mera Maula," Mukkho said to Bebe, then literally pulled Maula's leg. "Vaise sachi dus: tera dil aa gaya hai na shahzaadi te?"

Maula smirked. ''Aaho!" He teased her. "Baki te saari bakwaas kiti main," he laughed at her annoyance. "Vaise sachi gal te ae hae ki oda dil mere te aagaya hai."

"To hona hi si. Jo vadda aaya Mirza banya phirda ae," Mukkho pushed him and crossed her arms but Maula grabbed her arm and yanked her close.

"Odi te bas do vaari jaan bachai main," he smirked and leaned closer. "Tere liye te main sher vi gaa lavaan."

Mukkho bought into his charms and smiled as she pressed her head against his.

"Te ga."
