Chapter 34

═════

Nerves sent shivers to my stomach as the cool wind snaked through my hair. My breath was heavy with heat that caused me to get dizzy once again.

My spine trembled with impatient sobs eagerly waiting to burst out. Yellow tapes covered the entrance doors as the sea waved a crying call behind the calloused bars.

I slide the handy-knife -Naomi advised about a hundred times for me to keep one- out of my dusty pockets.

My trembling hands move to the tape as I stab the knife through the strong tapes and ripped them apart from one another.
I could be charged by the police; or worse. But nothing else matters. This was the timeline of my life that risked losing Naomi, a suicidal man that lost his son, and a so called boyfriend of mine that seemed to be connected to this.

I furiously bang the knife against the bars even though I knew nothing would destroy these fucking metals.
Hot, wet beads of tears roll down my cheeks as I insert the knife back to its place and wrap my hands around the cold metal.

I raise my left foot as I slowly climbed above the ground and on to the head of the door. I carefully turned around and duck my head to point my next destination for my feet.
I take a deep breath before loosening my hands as I slide down. The metal creaks with a squeaky, obnoxious sound as I press my palm over it.

I jump down before I swiftly turn to check around. It was empty. The only thing noticeable was the sea.
The bathroom had a big "Do not enter" sign in front of it while the other buildings were deadly. The boats that once were planning to leave were swaying on the wavy water.

There was a faint background noise behind the waters. I close my eyes shut as I concentrate on the sound.

Someone was whimpering.

"Naomi?" I almost whisper. The whimpers stopped.

"Alissa" a deep voice destroys whatever hopes I had for a slight chance of Naomi to be here.

"Who is it?" I turn around. My face frowned by default as I finished.

Only rustling sounds came. But no response. My hands uncontrollably move to my pocket in which I stuffed the handy-knife there.

A squeak came just as a yelp escaped from my mouth. For the hundredth time already, up I turn again; but this time, an unconscious Naomi was revealed.
I sprint towards her just as she falls into the ground. Her thick-long lashes were screw shut together as she was barely breathing.

"Nao" tears roll down my eyes as my knees fell into the ground.

"...Tiffany..." she finally speaks after moments of silence.

"She doesn't matter anymore, Naomi" I shake my head. Her long lashes move upwards as she weakly opens her eyes at my sudden change of thoughts.

"...Tiffany..." she announces once more, "...Is a good person" Just as she finished her gaze follows from mine to behind me.

I follow her gaze to a old-green bush until I froze. There was someone very similar to Bennett standing behind the bushes. I couldn't move. Naomi was slowly drifting off to sleep; she probably thought it's just her plain-old imagination.

"...Naomi" I almost whimper. She knowingly smiles while nodding.

"...It's a lie..." I cover half of my face with my hand. She shakes her head as No.

That's why she wanted me in the dock. That's why Thompson knew everything, and knew he can't do anything.
Every bit of information is slowly connecting together like an incomplete puzzle that's being fulfilled.

Just then the bang of a gun interrupts the reality I just went through. Someone was shooting at our location.

The police are here.

And this time; There's no going back to what has already been done.

I slowly push Naomi towards myself up from her arms as her eyes miserably attempt to stay open. I gently drag her by the arms behind another bush as the police reinforcements break into the Dock.

Bennett disappeared into thin air as police officers aim gun at every object they lay there eyes on. Naomi soon started to snore on the moist grass.

"...Tiffany is a good person" Naomi states once more.

"She isn't!" I almost snap at her, "She was the link between these... These... Murders!" I continue, knowing that the recent murder was fake.

"...it's such a disaster..." She weakly smiles at the officers with guns.

"They were the person I assumed I should care for; and that's the big disaster" I almost mutter.

"It's funny how things turned around so easily" she continues as her smile turns into a warm one.

"Your Ex-Boyfriend was alive, and even looked at you straight in the eyes only minutes ago..." her head falls back into a snorting-like laughter that was contagious.

I laugh at the irony that was my reality.
