Chapter 10
═════
The buzz of my phone cuts the woman off like a megaphone in the silence of the night. A text from Logan.
Alis, get back home. Sanders is here

I scramble to my feet. My mind couldn't register Naomi's shouts for my name. What the hell is sanders doing back home? Whichever reason he's there for, Tyler must be there too. The wind pushes my short hair from a corner to another, pumping my legs and forcing me to walk faster.
I'm tired, tired of this whole shit. Not even Logan was honest in this case.

The lights shone from the window. Loud voices spilled from the house.
What is going on?
Tyler was laying on the doorway, his eyes closed and relax as if there is nothing going on. Where is that reckless and rotten guy? Probably under that police uniform.
"Tyler!" He jumps from his place and looks at the source of the voice. Our eyes meet and his expression was a mixture of seriousness and surprised.
"Miss Evans..." I cut him off and walk faster.
The house was packed. Sanders was arguing with a bunch of officers -Hannah included- in the kitchen, slamming there hands on the counter furiously. The Blake's were all inspecting everyone like owls in the night. All of them were busy with themselves, as if no one just entered this damned place.
What is mum doing here?
I spot mom talking to Logan. Her face was more than worried. How did she come here? Wasn't she in Germany until now?
"Mum!" I draw the attention of everyone. My eyes only saw mum. Her eyes widen and she rose to hold me.
She quickly wrapped her arms around me. Warmth blossomed in my chest. this was something no one could fulfill for me. The room stays in silence, I missed her. More than anything. For a few moments we stay like that until she pushes me till arms length.
"My pretty little Alissa" she rubs my head. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you had to experience things older than your own age, I was blind all this time to notice what you've been through. I was foolish enough to think you were okay" her eyes were sparkled with tears.
"Sanders will help you. Everything will be fine, Meine Prinzessin" She lets go of me.
Logan smiles approvingly at me. I couldn't help but smile back, he was the first to figure things out and support me, and I know it'll stay the same. I only wish he was more honest with me.
"What's wrong anyways?" I ask sanders. He takes a peek at everyone else before taking a deep breath.
"Bennett's body was stolen" he finally states. No one said anything, they've all were well informed,
Except me.
Another shit. And this time I was nowhere near it. Everything about me seemed suspicious and I won't be surprised at all if everyone wants me dead. The reality stabbed me in the chest. It hurt both physically and mentally.
"Today a report came in about his body went missing and if you don't cooperate right know Miss Evans, people will still blame you and this case won't go smoothly" he suddenly turns serious.
"I'll do anything I can" I pour my honesty in my words. His lips tremble before he takes a peek at mom, who closed her eyes while nodding.
He closes the kitchen door then slams a file on the table. "Last time we couldn't ask you fully Miss" he gives a serious look at me. I nod. He opens the files letting out the same pictures he tried to show me at the docks.
There was, however, a few pictures I didn't focus on. They were pictures of Bennett.
"These pictures were the final things our forensic scientists took before the body went missing" Sanders adds.
The 'X' mark. Bennett was branded, just like Tiffany. There was the X mark on his nape and palm, it was burnt on his hands. I take a look at the dumpster I observed last time. I've seen Tiffany near that area for Sure.
"You saw these" it wasn't a question. His gaze studied on me. I stare blankly at them.
"I'm... not sure, it's just that I never thought Bennett was related to these" I hand the pictures back to sanders. My eyes sparkle with tears just like always.
Tell him about Tiffany, my subconscious reminds me. Bennett's phone, I remember. Should I give it to him?
"I..." I wanted to tell him about his phone, but I couldn't. I could only tell about Tiffany.
"Officer Lee's sister" I force my mind to speak up. Sanders anxiously waits for my next word as he hears me. He rests his chin on his thin and long hands as he awaits for my response.
"I saw her...at the dumpster in the picture" I change my words. I couldn't tell him about the information Naomi gave; I'd be in more trouble if I do so.
Sanders can't do anything for now.
