Ch.2: Diagon Alley

8/2/17-random time

So it wasn't a dream after all. Unless this whole day has been a dream. Maybe I need to go see a doctor. I think I'm losing my mind. But if it wasn't just a dream...

I'm just really confused. Someone is going to great lengths to trick me. I'll have to admit though, the person who planned this is very good at details.

I mean, there was a moving brick wall. It was so cool. It just all of a sudden turned into an archway. Ms. Bones showed me all different shops, filled with potions in strange vials, and owls, and moving books. There were a group of "witches" discussing which robe length was most fashionable, and a bunch of young "magical" folk discussing the best new brand of broomsticks. I thought witches riding broomsticks was just a myth... What next, people just magically turning into toads?

Earlier that day:

Jordan woke up feeling excited, but they couldn't remember why. Then it hit them. The dancing teapot. The owl and the letter. The witch. Hogwarts...

Jordan raced downstairs, not even bothering to change. Ms. Bones was already waiting in the living room. She was wearing the same purple robes from yesterday, and her red hair was up in a tight bun. Jordan's mum was also in her pajamas, which was very embarrassing. The both of them went back upstairs to change. Jordan quickly brushed their teeth, fold their blanket, and put on a t-shirt and jeans. They brought a small blue book bag that contained emergency money, and most importantly, a pencil and sketchbook. After 10 minutes, Ms. Bones led them to the Railway. As Jordan sat on the train, a million thoughts were racing in their head. They tried to imagine where they were going.

Finally the train stopped, and Ms. Bones led them into a small pub. What if this was all just a trap? She led everyone to the very back, where in front of them stood an old brick wall. Why'd they stop here? Before Jordan could ask, Ms. Bones pulled out her wand, and started tapping random bricks. For a few seconds, nothing happened, and Jordan stood there confused. Then the wall moved.

The bricks twisted around while Jordan was watching with their eyes wide. What was once a wall was now an archway. Jordan quickly followed Ms. Bones. It was like an outdoors mall, but instead of regular shops, there were moving books, owls, cauldrons, dragon livers, and telescopes. Jordan soaked it all in, while trying not to trip and fall, which was actually very hard. To the left, there was a shop called Eeylops Owl Emporium, filled with thousands of different birds, all hooting very noisily. Just ahead was an Apothecary, where gross and slimy looking stuff were sitting in jars. There was a robe shop, which had robes in all different colors and sizes. And there was a small-looking ice cream shop. To the right, there was an advertisement for collapsible cauldrons, 30% off. Jordan could see a bunch of small children, crowding around a joke shop called Weasley Wizard Wheezes. There was a small boy begging their mum to get a fanged frisbee. "Arnold, how many times do I have to you, no."

"First stop, Gringotts!"

They stopped in front of a tall white building that was slightly slanted. Next to the entrance, some words were engraved in silver:

Enter, stranger, but take heed

Of what awaits the sin of greed,

For those who take, but do not earn,

Must pay most dearly in their turn.

So if you seek beneath our floors

A treasure that was never yours,

Thief, you have been warned, beware

Of finding more than treasure there.

Ms. Bones explained. "This is one of the best banks in the world. It is very secure, since it is run by goblins. They aren't very trusting. And oh yeah. Okay, the gold ones, they are called Galleons. The silver ones are called Sickles, and Knuts are the brown ones. There are 17 Sickles in a Galleon, and 29 Knuts in a Sickle. Got it?"

Jordan was bewildered by all of this information. They entered the marble building. All around them, Jordan could see hundreds of goblins, sitting behind counters. Some were talking to other wizards, and some were weighing money, or writing with long quills. Each goblin was short, with long fingers, long ears, wide mouths, and scrunched up faces. "I'd like to exchange this muggle money for wizarding currency please," Ms. Bones stated to one of the goblins. He examined the euros and traded them for Galleons and Sickles.

The first thing that they got was their uniform. Inside the Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions were multiple young witches and wizards sitting on stools, while the employees were measuring and pinning the robes. Jordan looked around. The customers all looked like they knew each other. A bunch of the witches were gossiping while another group of witches and wizards were talking about something called quidditch. Jordan gulped nervously. It is hard being an outsider...

Author's Note:

Sorry for publishing so late. I kind of procrastinated a little. Okay maybe not a little, but still. I split up this chapter. I can't wait for Jordan to get their wand! Anyways, go check out the other companion stories by SassyCC and Sunflowerdeer! (Diary of a Gryffindor Student, Diary of a Ravenclaw Student)

Hope you're enjoying this fanfic so far...
