THE AIR WAS WARM, humid, Diana felt as if she was swimming as she made it to her apartment. Her shaky hands could barely make the key go into the lock. But soon, she was unlocking her door and going into the studio apartment shes slowly learning to call home. It was small, it had three rooms, and it was so much better than what she used to have.

Diana sighed as she shut her door, locking it as she set her purse on the hutch next to the door. She pulled her phone out and walked to the kitchen area,  grabbing a glass and went to the fridge, getting her orange juice out. There was something different about the space than when she left for Ms. Anderson's house that morning.

She turned around, looking at the bed and the living room area to see a shadow sitting in her couch. Diana's heart rate picked up, grabbing the nearest object and turned it into a gun, pointing it straight at the shadow.

"If you don't get out now I will be shooting first and answering the questions the police will have later," Diana spoke. The light turned on and a bald man in a dark trench coat and an eyepatch to match revealed himself.

"Put your gun down Renfrey," He spoke, showing his badge.  She drew closer, never taking the gun away from him as she took the badge, reading it. Diana did her best to look intimidating as she held the gun to him.

"What does SHIELD want with me?" She asked, tossing it in his lap. He only looked up to her, the expression on his face told her everything. Diana turned the gun back into the potato peeler and walked over to the light switch, turning everything on, "I don't want anything to do with SHIELD."

"Hear me out," Fury spoke, watching as she poured herself a glass of orange juice.

"You have ten minutes, after that, I'm going to bed and you're leaving," Diana spoke, leaning against the island in her kitchen area, watching him.

Fury stood up and walked over to her. Diana's blue eyes finally saw what was in Fury's hand as he set the file on the island. The giant red letters that read CONFIDENTIAL jumped out at Diana, raising a lot of red flags in her mind.

"There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people, see if they could become something more," Fury spoke, catching Diana's attention as she watched him intently, "See if they could work together when we needed them to to fight the battles we never could."

"And you want me to be apart of that team?" She asked, looking down at the file. She opened it up, seeing the title that read AVENGERS INITIATIVE. Diana looked up to Fury, frowning slightly, "who else is apart of this?"

"Steve Rogers, A few of our own enhanced agents, their identities aren't known to the media, for mission purpose," Fury spoke, stuffing his hands in his pockets as Diana looked back to the file as she flipped through to see a file on Tony Stark.

"Tony Stark as well?" Diana asked, looking up at Fury. The man frowned.

"He didn't make the cut," Fury explained, "doesn't play well with others."

"Well of course he doesn't, he's Tony Stark, but at the same time, it's Tony Stark," Diana argued, "even if you don't want Iron Man, Tony Stark is just as great with his mind as well, I mean, graduating MIT at eighteen years old?"

"Didn't realize you were a fan," Fury spoke as she flipped through the papers, reading up on the people she would potentially work with. It was a lot to consider when she thought of who she would be leaving and how it would look to future clients when working as a caregiver.

"Not a fan more so just someone who can see when someone has true potential to better themselves," Diana chuckled, "I'm with you on the ego, but can you blame someone whose born with the biggest silver spoon in history?"

"I can see you're weighing a lot," Nick spoke, "how about it tell you about some of the benefits of working for SHIELD?"

"Listen," Diana raised her hand, interrupting him from his insurance plans, "I have no desire to be a part of something like this."

"But-"

"But," She spoke up again, "if there ever is a threat to earth that needs me and my abnormalities, call me, or creepily show up on my couch, but only if it's an emergency."

Nick seemed to smile when he heard her words, as if he heard them before.

"Alright Ms. Renfrey, I'll be sending an agent tomorrow with the paperwork and your SHIELD badge," Fury spoke and Diana sighed, looking to the clock, her eyes dropping at the thought of getting into bed.

"Whatever, your ten minutes are up, Fury," She looked back with a reluctant smile, "go home."

"Have nice night, Renfrey," Fury spoke, turning around and headed for the door, leaving the file on her kitchen island. Diana watched the man leave the house and she walked over and locked it, turning around and looking at the small apartment.

"What the fuck just happened?"
