Delia put her hand over her cheek. "Aren't girls expensive these days..." She looked at the paper between her hands again.
Knock knock
"Come on in."
The door opened and Ash got inside. "You wanted to talk to me?"
"Yes, sweetheart. Sit down."
"Well, I wanted to talk to you too." Ash smiled weakly. He sat facing his mother's desk. "Something's been on my mind."
"Is it about that Misty Williams?" Delia hid the bank record under a file. "I'm sure she's excited to meet us, getting ready and all that..."
"Yes, she is!" Ash nodded quickly.
"She must love taking care of herself..."
"She does. She's a model, so she has to."
"Right..." Delia cleared her throat. It was a bit disturbing to know that Misty was buying lingerie for her nights with Ash, but that's the bad side of having a look at those record. "Well, that's what I wanted to talk you about. It's about Misty. Your grandparents want to invite her over for dinner tonight."
"She'd love that."
"We're all excited to meet her." Delia stroked Ash's hand. "And we're happy for you."
"Thanks, mom."
"That means you're growing up!" She giggled.
"I'm thirty. I'm done growing up."
"I don't know about that." She stroked his hand again. "It's like, so suddenly, you grew up, you're with this woman..."
Ash said nothing.
"It's like your father and I, all over again." Delia smiled genuinely at her son.
Ash grabbed her hand and kissed it. For some reason, he didn't want to hear much further about that.
"Bless you, dear."
"I've got to go. Reunions." Ash shrugged and got up.
"Alright." Delia spoke again. "And oh, by the way, how old is Misty?"
Ash bit his lip. He had no idea! Holy mother of... "Uh, she doesn't like it when I say her age, so..."
"She's silly, isn't she?" Delia laughed.
"Yeah... bye!"
"Noted everything?"
"Yep."
Misty checked her makeup in her hand mirror. "Perfect."
Ash was typing everything Misty told him about her life on his phone. She said she'd do the talk but he should at least know her age.
"I look so beautiful." Misty admired herself in front of the mirror. "This face care at the spa was so relaxing and refreshing..."
Ash looked at her.
"What?" She raised her perfectly shaped eyebrows. "I'm really beautiful."
"Okay, great." Ash rolled his eyes and hopped out of the car. "By the way, did you buy lingerie lately? I told you to be careful. Mom can check all the records."
"I know, that's why I bought the lingerie." Misty winked and headed toward the gate.
Ash stood there for a moment, confused. He shrugged it off and followed his so-called girlfriend.
"I'm just so happy about meeting you, finally! I have waited for this moment for so long - and Ash can tell you. I couldn't stand keeping this relationship a secret much longer! It wasn't fair."
Ash was scrolling down his phone. Misty sat beside him, her hands crossed on her knees, her back straight.
Delia, Philip and Eleanor nodded.
"It wasn't fair at all." Misty assured. "And you can understand how upset I was when he went on a date with Serena."
"It wasn't a date." Ash spoke.
"She was in your car, Ash." Misty turned to look at him. "It was late at night, you had dinner with her and she was in your car! God knows what happened between you two!"
"Nothing happened!" Ash chuckled. He just thought this whole thing was so funny he couldn't stop himself from laughing.
"It was our fault! We had no idea he was with you..." Eleanor tried to reassure the angry-looking Misty.
"I know - I just." Misty pulled a napkin from her purse and patted under her eyes. "I'm sorry. It just - it was the worst time of my life - to see my boyfriend with someone..."
"We're so sorry..." Delia frowned.
"Really?" Philip scratched his beard. Eleanor elbowed him.
"Can we talk about something else?" Ash nodded and put a hesitant hand on Misty's thigh.
"How long have you been dating?" Philip leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest.
Since Misty was the one to do the talking, Ash didn't say a thing. "Last week, it was a month."
"It's not long."
"We get that a lot." Misty nodded. She was determined to make Philip believe they were real. "Ash and I were on and off. It wasn't always great."
"Naah." Ash shook his head.
"Actually, our meeting was a horrible one!" Misty chuckled. "He hit me with the back of his car!"
Eleanor gasped. Ash sat straight. "It wasn't dangerous."
Misty started mimicking Ash. "I'll drive you to the hospital! I have great insurance!" Making Ash's grandparents and his mother chuckle.
"I panicked! Okay?"
"Yeah. It was cute." Misty leaned to the back and planted a kiss on Ash's cheek. The raven haired did totally not see that coming, so his cheeks flushed a deep red and he leaned to the back slowly, hand on his mouth.
Misty turned to looked at the three in front of her. "Do you need help setting the table?"
This is fake, isn't it?
Yes, it is.
