"Urgent meeting!"

"What?"

Philip watched as Delia walked past him quickly and got inside the house. He got up. "What?". Eleanor, who was watering the flowers in her garden, had the same reaction.

Delia showed up at the door again. "I said, urgent meeting! Now!"

Mr. And Mrs. Ketchum looked at each other, completely confused.

"I'm going to do what Eleanor said." Delia spoke confidently. "I'm going to find Ash a wife."

"What?" Philip snapped.

"Great! I have a list." Eleanor went to fetch her so-called list from her bedroom. "They're all girls from respectful, business families! You'll see!"

Philip turned toward Delia. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I am." Delia felt unprotected. Those shoes in her son's closet just shook her. Her son was a pure soul, a naive guy. He wouldn't make the difference between a woman who loves him and a woman who loves his money, and she, as his mother, couldn't let him get hurt.

"You know that if Ken were alive, he wouldn't let you do this." Philip looked clearly disappointed.

"I know." Delia nodded quickly. "But I can't let Ash do this on his own. He has someone in his life and I don't trust any of it."

"Does he?"

"There you go!" Eleanor came back with a small notebook. She sat beside Delia and flipped through it. "I've got some phone numbers too."

"You've been doing your homework, woman." Philip looked disgusted.

"I care about my grandson, okay?" Eleanor threw him a glare. "I have one grandson."

"Anyone but daughters of rival companies." Delia avoided looking at Philip.

"Why do you think he should be married to be the head of the company?" Philip snapped. "Ken was single when he became the CEO!"

"That's Ken, not Ash!" Delia shouted. "Ken is not Ash!"

Philip said nothing. Eleanor looked between the two.

"I-I'm sorry."

Delia pulled Philip's hand to kiss it, but he pulled it away.

"Don't, it's fine." He held her hand.

"I'm really sorry." Delia frowned. "Ash bought an expensive designer pair of high heels for someone... I just..."

"How expensive?" Eleanor spoke in a lower voice.

Delia rubbed her hands together. "Must be around fifty or sixty thousand dollars..."

There was a loud gasp in the living room.

"Huh?"

Ash was checking his bank account credit on his phone when he caught the amount of money he spent on the shoes a few days ago.

"Holy shit! What is this?"

He could swear it was four hundred dollars on the price tag - or was it four thousand? Was it the pair of shoes right beside this one? Why was this one so expensive?

Ash got off the couch and opened the box that was on the coffee table. He got a shoe out and looked at it carefully.

He gasped when he noticed the front was embellished in diamonds. "WHAT THE F*CK DID I BUY?"

Ash groaned. "Damn it!" The amount of money spent on this stupid shoe was big and it was surely going to catch his mother's attention. The account was Ash's but his mother checked the records of all the accounts of the Ketchum family.

He stuffed the shoe back in the box and sat down on the couch, sighing. Maybe his mom was right. He wasn't ready yet for business. He can't even read a price tag right. He keeps missing how many zeros there are! How come he didn't even notice there were diamonds on the shoes? This thing must be a special edition. He didn't want to buy a special edition shoes! That's... not what he wanted!

Ash sighed. "God, nooo...."

The question is, should he even give this very expensive pair with the diamonds at the front to the woman who wasn't even polite with him? Well, yes, he hit her with his car, but...

"I can always return them..." He looked at the diamonds at the front of the shoe. Honestly, it was a beautiful pair of shoes. Any woman would want to put her feet in this thing. Even Ash was amazed at how pretty it looked.

"But it's awkward to return stuff..." Ash made disgusted face. It'd look pathetic, too. It's like you've been dumped, and Ash isn't even dating.

Maybe he can give this to his mom as a late gift for Mother's Day?

He made his decision.
