10. To the next phase
"What are you doing?"
Ash looked on the mirror. He put his hand over his mouth.
"What the f*ck am I doing?" He snapped to no one in particular. "What is wrong with you, Ash Ketchum? You crazy, man?"
Of course, there was no response. He was alone in his bathroom.
"Okay, I need a beer. Let's get me a beer. That's going to calm me down."
Ash left the bathroom and headed toward his kitchen. He cracked open a can of beer and took a big sip.
"Okay." He spoke. "Men do this all the time. They lie about dating, so it's fine. I'm doing it too."
Ash looked down at the beer can. He put it on the counter, grabbed a bottle of vodka from the top of the fridge and popped it open.
"She didn't have to kiss me..." Ash groaned and poured the vodka in a glass. He hated that kiss. It made his stomach flip and make this annoying voices. He didn't want to think too much about Misty's stupid kiss effect on him - but, she was a model. She was beautiful from head to toe. Ash couldn't find something ugly or bad about her, and it was frustrating. She was incredibly attractive, no doubt about that. So, thinking that a woman as gorgeous-looking as Misty kissed-
"F*ck it."
He was about to take his first sip of the vodka when the doorbell rang. There were some voices and shuffling behind the door.
His eyes shot wide open when he opened it.
"Hi Ashy!" Misty was right at his door, wearing sneakers and what looked like a large shirt to him. There were several men behind her, carrying boxes.
"Oh-oh-hi."
"Come on, guys, let's get this done quickly!" Misty opened the door wide and let her men in. They started getting the boxes inside.
"What-..." Ash was about to snap at Misty when he noticed a rather tall man looking at him - or more like glaring at him.
"Ash, this is Rudy." Misty grabbed Rudy's arm. "He's my agent and my best friend."
Ash raised his eyebrows when Misty wrapped her arm around his. "And this is Ash Ketchum, my boyfriend!"
Rudy raised his eyebrow. "Misty never told me about you, so it's a bit of a surprise."
"Why-why is he here?" Ash looked at Misty.
"Aww, babe, he's my agent! Don't be so jealous." Misty poked Ash's cheek.
"That's not what-"
"Of course!" Misty giggled loudly. She looked at Rudy and said, "Rudy just wanted to help with the unpacking and moving in."
Rudy shrugged.
"What?" Ash panicked. Was the woman actually trying to move in with him? Was she serious? They didn't agree on this! Holy mother of - will he have to share his bathroom? "Hold on a minute! We didn't-..."
Ash was about to protest, but Misty's look reminded him that he was in front of several men who thought they were going out.
"I-..." Ash turned toward Rudy. He gestured to the vodka bottle on the counter, as well as an ashtray full of cigarettes. "Caught me red-handed." he chuckled nervously and turned to look at Misty who has invited herself in his bedroom and was telling the men where to put the boxes.
Rudy nodded. "Misty hates to be near cigarettes."
"Yeah, I know!" Ash rushed toward the counter and threw the cigarettes in the trash. "We don't have the... same, you know... tastes."
"Look," Rudy walked froward. He stood against the counter. "I don't know your story, or your plans, or your goals, and how you just got Misty, like that..."
Ash gulped. "Hum?"
"But if you hurt her, I'm going to destroy you." Rudy smiled a fake one. "Do you understand?"
Was this guy actually threatening him in his house? Did he even know who Ash was? Ash was the CEO of MariGold.
Ash slammed his hands against the counter and leaned forward. Their faces were close. "You must have forgotten that you're talking to Ash Ketchum, mister Rudy. If you're in the clouds, it's time to go back to Earth."
Rudy pulled away, face emotionless.
"I might just get rid of you, you know." Ash shrugged. "I don't like that my girlfriend has a male agent. Maybe I should find her a female agent, or even make her my company's principal model. She doesn't need an agent; she has me, which means she has everything."
Rudy didn't respond.
"I didn't freak you out, did I? Sorry about that." Ash smiled a fake one. "I go crazy jealous. Can you blame me? My girlfriend is in the top ten most beautiful women in the region, and I can get a little overprotective at times."
"Ash?" Misty left the bedroom and walked toward Ash, giving him his phone. "Your mom's calling."
"Thanks babe." Ash answered the call and walked away slowly, his eyes and Rudy's glaring into each other. "Hi mom. Can I call later? I've got to help Misty unpack."
Ash was sitting on the end of the bed. He got up when he heard the slam of the door of his apartment.
"They're gone!" Misty walked in the bedroom.
"Great. Now let's pack again." Ash started opening the empty boxes.
"What? Why?"
"Why?" Ash made a face. "I can't share this place with you!"
"What kind of men wouldn't want to share their house with me, Ash?" Misty rolled her eyes. "I'm like every man's dream!"
"You're not my girlfriend!" Ash reminded her. "And that Rudy guy - he's - he's - I think he likes you! He said he'd destroy me if I hurt you!"
"Oh, please, Rudy's crush is yeaaars old. I just got used to it." Misty nodded. "Wait, did he scare you?"
"No!" Ash exclaimed. "Why would he?"
"Are you jealous of Rudy?" Misty smirked.
"I have no reason to be jealous of a guy like him." Ash nodded. "And you've still got to leave this house. You can't live here."
"You're acting like you've never shared a house with a woman!" Misty rolled her eyes again. She sat on the bed and grabbed her makeup bag. "Relax, Ash, I'm like every other woman who has lived here - well, I'm surely a lot prettier but you're going to get used to it with time."
Ash watched her as she checked her face in her hand mirror.
"Wait." Misty looked at Ash. "There was a woman before me here, right?"
"How's that important right now?"
"Oh my God!" Misty gasped. "Are you a virgin?"
"No!" Ash groaned. "But what has this got to do with you leaving?"
"Is the first woman living here is actually a fake girlfriend?" Misty gasped loudly. "Oh my God!"
"You're not living here!" Ash shouted, his face getting red. "You're going back to your house!"
"Am I turning you on right now?" She gestured to his crotch. "I'm sorry. I had no idea I'm the first woman to step in here! I thought you had women over all the time. You're like, so rich! And you live in a duplex!"
"Why would-" Ash got up. He grabbed Misty by the hand and led her out of the bedroom. "You're leaving now. I'm going to get your things packed and send them over to you later."
The two stopped upon seeing Delia Ketchum at the door they forgot to close earlier.
"Hi mom." Ash was in complete panic. He really needed Misty right now to save this. "Euh..."
"I would never want to bother my boyfriend's mom with our problems but..." Misty stood beside Delia and pointed at Ash. "Can you talk to him? He's really being childish about giving me the big side of the closet."
"Oh." Delia let a chuckle. "Sweetie, you can't kick your girlfriend out and send her things back just because she wants more space in the closet. Where is chivalry?"
"She-she's got more space in all cupboards!" Ash has no idea what he was saying, but it didn't matter.
"I'm a woman!" Misty pouted.
"Okay! Okay!" He couldn't care less since Misty saved this whole thing. "You get the bigger side."
Misty looked sweetly at Delia. "Thank you for knocking some sense into his head."
Delia laughed. "You're welcome."
"I need to set all my pretty dresses now." Misty stroked Ash's shoulder as she walked past him and went to the bedroom.
"She's got so many clothes and shoes..." Ash chuckled. "Never saw as much clothes before!" He felt less panicked. God, he can't survive this fake thing without Misty one second.
Delia giggled. She put the cake she bought on the counter.
"Look at her shoes." Ash gestured to the staircase, where Misty's shoes were settled by color.
"Those stairs were boring. Now, they're colorful." Delia smiled.
"Yeah, maybe." Ash let a small laugh. "I never go to the top level..." it was a white empty space. Ash never used it since he had his bedroom set in the lower level.
"Maybe you could set a living room up there, or a little movie space." Delia suggested. "Where you and Misty relax and watch movies."
"It's a good idea."
"I should head back now." Delia started walking toward the door. "I have one advice for you, sweetie."
Ash put his arms behind him. "Okay."
"Dating is about compromise." She smiled. "Do you understand?"
"Sure." He blushed slightly. "Thanks for the cake."
"Don't eat it all at once!" She giggled and left, closing the door gently after her.
Misty walked out of the bedroom, hands on her hips. "So what? Now what? What if it wasn't for me?"
"Leave me alone!" Ash was already attacking the cake. "Do anything you want - just leave me alone, okay?" He huffed and ate another spoonful of the red velvet cake.
"You can't admit I'm always right." Misty shook her head in disappointment. "Men hate when women are right. But you know what? We will always be right!"
Ash shrugged and continued eating.
"I'm sooo keeping my rent money! That's so great! Maybe I should book a day at the most expensive spa to treat myself..." Misty giggled and walked back in the bedroom. "My life is finally exciting!"
Ash grabbed the vodka bottle.
